Medium Pho with steak & meatball
    Shelby I.

Huge portions for reasonable pricing! My hubby & I love getting pho and this place did not disappoint! Portions are huge! We love all the fresh veggies. Service is quick and the owners are always so nice. When we get takeout, we always get the spring roll & bbq pork vermicelli bowls. Again, super fresh veggies, a generous portion of fish sauce (they also add chili flakes in it), and they always give 2 spring rolls & quite a bit of bbq pork. Other places only give 1 spring roll with combos. It's definitely enough for 2 meals for me! Overall, this is one of our go to places to get our pho fix!

One of my favorite places in Aiea ! Inside is nice and cozy, it is always a cool and comfortable temperature. I appreciate restaurants like these that serve hearty pho and made to order dishes. The staff is also so friendly. Go and support these family owned and operated businesses !

We ordered ahead. And driver today dropped off the passenger and only made one circle. Came back around and passenger was back at curb to go home. No waiting at 4:50pm. And the food was greattttt! As always. Mahalo. See you next time.

My usual pho restaurant was sadly closed today. Based off the reviews, I decided to have lunch here with my sister. We came during lunch time 12-1ish. It was extremely busy & packed. Which usually means that the food must be very good. I was set on getting pho but because I saw a star next to bun bo hue & im such a fan, I decided to get bun Bo hue instead. The bun Bo hue broth was a mix of umami and spicy. But not too spicy. I loved how they were generous with the meat portion. I would say definitely in my top 3 of favorite bun bo hue's on the island. My sister got the combination pho and I got to taste their broth. I loved how their broth wasn't too light or too heavy. It was rich and super flavorful. Service was also really good. I'll definitely be coming back here to try more food items.

Bun rieu with all the fixings. Flavorful and full of ingredients. They don't skim on the food

Their duck noodle is the best that I've ever had. The broth taste is very herbally and healthy, which is different than duck noodles at other places, which were mainly just soy sauce based. Their Vietnamese, coffee and bun rieu are also delicious. I came here weekly with my mom after her physical therapy session. Service is helpful and efficient. The place is always busy around lunchtime, even on weekdays. Place is usually packed but usually minimal wait to be seated; nice ambiance.

It was our first time and we called an hour ahead to reserve a table for 5 at 6:30pm on a Wednesday. The service was exceptional. Staff serving and checking on you with a smile. We had some apps: fried calamari, fried oysters, spring rolls and butter ckn wings, along with some pho, vermicelli and banh mi. The pork is so tasty! The fried oysters were also very good. We will definitely be back!

Pho Time is pretty good for a quick lunch. Lots of meat in the combo pho and bun rieu had a strong shrimp paste scent but balanced flavors and lots of toppings. Taking a star off because we did have to sit by the door and each time it opened we were hit with a strong gust of wind.

Great place to come with the family. I highly recommend the Curry Oxtail Ramen which is probably one of the best that I have ever had! Very meaty and the portions were great. So many things to order here as we usually get appetizers to share. The service is quick and friendly as it seems like it is family operated. This a great neighborhood eatery that you can come in and enjoy yourself in a casual environment without having to pay an arm and a leg with very good portions. You will probably have leftovers for another meal. Lots of free parking and easy to find if you are ever in the Aiea area.

Came here a few times and have had consistently delicious pho in a relaxed atmosphere. My most recent visit was late, 30 minutes before close. There were 4 groups (2-5 people) seated and enjoying their meals. We sat at the middle table, which I normally don't like, but it was okay. There was enough room to breathe and I didn't feel claustrophobic. The service is always excellent and I didn't feel rushed even though it was near closing. This is why my daughter loves to come here.

Was in the mood for some pho today so we decided to try this spot since it's on our way home. Pho Time is located in Aiea Town Square. They serve both Vietnamese & Japanese cuisine, however I think the menu was mostly Vietnamese. The dining space was a bit cramped, not ideal for large families or families with small children in strollers. Ordered pho with steak and brisket; the broth was beefy and flavorful and they gave plenty of meat. Just a heads up, they charge a 3% credit card surcharge.

I was craving pho and didn't want to drive all the way to Kapolei or Chinatown for good pho. My friends and I found this restaurant in Aiea, and at first, we were kind of skeptical as I've never really had a fantastic experience with the phos around the area. But we decided to check it out as a really good smoothie store was in the same area. It's located on the upper side closer to Moanalua Rd next to Tea Cafe in Aiea Town Square on Kauhale St. There's a big parking lot that used to be free for hours at a time. However, the entire parking lot is now managed by a parking company (can't remember the name). The first two hours are free but each hour after is about $2? We had to register our car on their app via QR code which could be difficult for the older folks to navigate through. So hopefully not registering for the two hours are okay for these folks. I got their small Eye Round Steak & Meatballs pho while my boyfriend got their large combination pho. It worked out because he gave me the tendons which I loooove. The small bowl was quite big! They gave a lot of proteins even for the two meats I got. The round eye steak was also very tender - a big plus. The flavor of the broth was soooo good. It wasn't the clear, clean ones which isn't a favorite of mine. I was quite impressed by it and couldn't stop eating it! My friend got their Bun Bo Hue, and I'm usually very suspicious on whether it'll be good or not if I've never had it previously.... But this was VERY good. There was a generous amount of protein, and the brisket was veryyy tender. Winner winner! The broth, mmmm, so good as well. Lots of umami! Overall, I would definitely come back as it's close to my relatives' home. The BBH was outstanding so that would probably be my next order!

    10. BBQ Pork Banh Mi
    Valery L.

Coworkers and I decided to try this place out for lunch. We ordered: - BBQ pork banh mi (one with a side order of pho-noodle and rare beef) - Pho-Noodle combo - Thai tea They said the BBQ pork banh was good! I wasn't a huge fan of mine. The meat was already mostly cooked so when I mixed it in with the broth, it ended up being well-done. The broth that my coworker got for his side order was not warm enough so it didn't cook his raw beef. He didn't end up eating it (he didn't want to ask the server about it). It was a decently busy place and there was a shared parking lot with neighboring shop and restaurants.

Bun Bo Hue Noodle. Thick wheat noodles with jaw dropping amounts of meats.

We got smoked out and it got bad to the point where my eyes were getting watery. Not sure if this happens all the time at this spot- this was my first time. The service was okay. We waited over 10 minutes to get cups of water and to put in our order. I totally get that they were short handed which also explains why it took almost 40 minutes for us to be served. Ordered the Negi-Hamachi to try something different. Hamachi is my favorite fish served sashimi style so I decided to switch it up and order the Negi-Hamachi which is finely chopped, yellow-tail with green onion and wasabi over sushi rice served with tsukemono and miso soup. I was super happy with this because the Hamachi was delicious and surprisingly, I did not feel bloated or too full afterwards.

Although this location doesn't have all the same menu items as the Mililani one (I was definitely missing my favorite salmon fried rice), we still had a really good experience overall. I tried the sukiyaki beef bowl this time--it was decent, though it leaned a bit heavy on the rice compared to the portion of beef. The chicken karaage was a standout. The portion was generous, fried fresh, and paired really well with a spicy mayo dipping sauce. We also ordered the tofu salad, which was surprisingly large and super flavorful, with a sesame peanut dressing that I really enjoyed. Service was extremely quick, likely because the restaurant was pretty empty (which worked in our favor, especially during spring break). It did feel a bit rushed at times, but honestly, I didn't mind since I tend to prefer a quick in-and-out dining experience. Parking was also very convenient, with plenty of spaces available around the mall on multiple levels. Located in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center area of Aiea, the restaurant has a modern and comfortable dining space that feels both lively and welcoming. The layout is well suited for group dining, which makes sense given the communal nature of shabu shabu. The moment we were seated, the staff were attentive and helpful in explaining the menu and how the ordering process works for guests who may be less familiar with the style of dining. What immediately stood out was the quality and freshness of the ingredients. Shabu shabu is a cuisine where ingredient integrity matters significantly because the cooking process is very simple. Rokaru clearly prioritizes fresh vegetables, well-prepared broths, and thinly sliced meats that cook quickly and evenly in the hot pot. The beef selections were particularly impressive, with slices that had excellent marbling and tenderness. Once briefly cooked in the broth, the meat developed a rich flavor while still maintaining a delicate texture. The broth options were another highlight of the meal. Each broth offered its own flavor profile, allowing diners to customize their experience depending on their preferences. The broths were flavorful without becoming overly salty or heavy, which allowed the natural taste of the meats and vegetables to come through. As ingredients were added throughout the meal, the broth continued to develop deeper flavor, which is one of the pleasures of well-executed shabu shabu. The sauce bar also added an enjoyable level of customization. Having the ability to mix dipping sauces allows each diner to tailor the flavor balance of each bite. Whether leaning toward something more savory, slightly spicy, or bright with citrus, the sauces complemented the cooked ingredients well without overwhelming them. Service throughout the meal remained attentive and efficient. Staff checked in regularly to ensure that broths were maintained, orders were correct, and diners had everything they needed. The pacing of the meal felt comfortable, allowing our group to take time enjoying each round of ingredients without feeling rushed. The overall atmosphere contributed positively to the experience. The dining room had an energetic but controlled environment that made it easy to enjoy conversation while cooking and sharing food together. Shabu shabu naturally encourages a social dining style, and Rokaru does a good job creating a space that supports that experience. Overall, Rokaru Shabu Shabu delivers a well-executed hot pot experience with fresh ingredients, flavorful broths, and attentive service. The restaurant demonstrates a clear understanding of what makes shabu shabu enjoyable: quality ingredients, balanced broths, and a welcoming environment where diners can take their time and enjoy the process of cooking their meal.
