First, I really like that they offer combos with a drink and two spring rolls--it's perfect if you just want something on the side without ordering a full appetizer. My boyfriend and I both got the brisket pho, and it was delicious! The broth was flavorful, the brisket was tender, and there was a generous amount of noodles. This tiny location brings some big flavor to the pho world. Nestled in among several good restaurants and businesses, I think we picked a good one to try. We did have to wait about 20 minutes to get a table. The space is small but functional. The service was good too; auntie didn't even have to write anything down. She got this down to a science. This is my go to place for pho outside of Chinatown. I've introduced so many friends and family to this place and now they're all regulars as well! The aunty that that works the front is always so fast and friendly. She remembers a lot of her regular customers and even takes our orders without ever needing to write it all down. I always order the combo 2 which comes with your choice of pho, 2 spring rolls, and your choice of Vietnamese iced coffee or tea for $18.99. The pho broth is so aromatic and rich in flavor I can literally drink the whole bowl lol. My boyfriend usually orders the lemongrass chicken vermicelli or rice plate. He swears no other places make the lemongrass as good as Yum Yum! If you can handle the heat, you definitely have to try their homemade spicy chili oil because it pairs well with pretty much every dish. A favorite pho spot of mine, add in the cost and it pushes it fabulous. Where else are you getting a combination pho for under $15. The main server is always the same person, greets with small, always polite, and remembers my order. The pho is bursting with aromatic and umami filled broth is so light yet full of flavor. The sometimes challenging part of getting pho here is the parking lot is small. If none, you can try parking across the street in the hill. But do NOT park in the mall area behind the building. I've passed here for years and never stopped in. We decided to give it a try. The place has a small dining area for 5-7 movable tables depending on the size of the guest count. It's a nice cozy atmosphere like a mom and pop restaurant feel. They were just another table besides us when we arrived. The server was polite and very knowledgeable. She took the order of a table of 8 without writing down anything and served them with no mistakes even with special orders, impressive! She made it to us very quickly and did the same. What a gem! This was our first time there and had a great experience! It was Mother's Day and it was packed. We patiently waited outside for around 15/20 minutes, which is fine, sends a positive message that it's a worthwhile place. Was greeted immediately when walking through the door, which makes me very happy from the get-go. I truly believe good customer service (treating people how you want to be treated) is essential for an establishment. I don't want to go to an establishment if I'm not treated nicely. The warm greeting woman/waitress took our order promptly and with a smile. The food came out very quickly by a gentleman which whom had a warm presence about him as well. Go early for lunch or dinner. This is a small place with only a half dozen tables that fill quickly, be prepared to wait outside. Service is very good. Family run business, wife is the main server, husband helps, too. Have eaten here before but decided to try the oxtail pho this time and I'm so glad I did! Hubby got his usual bed balls and rare steak. He always enjoys that. The oxtail pho was amazing. Oxtail pieces were cooked just right so it wasn't too difficult to eat. A crowd favorite... After hearing much about this spot I finally got a chance to give them a try since I already was in the area. Yum Yum Pho is found in Aiea Town Square but not actually in the shopping area but outside right along Moanalua Road but parking is nice and convenient provided by the shopping center it's just a short walk up to the restaurant. This super cozy spot was a complete full house with many waiting outside but since I was ordering a take out I thought it'd be fine though since they were so busy I was told it would take 30-45 minutes is quite insane but totally understandable and was fine with it but since it's literally on the sidewalk there's no place to sit and wait as there was a large crowd of folks waiting for their table I opt to wait in the car as they'll call me once my order was ready. I ordered Tofu Summer Rolls and Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli and no it didn't take long at all but about 15 minutes which was much faster than expected. I was hesitant to write this review because Yum Yum Pho is one of my favorite secret spots in Aiea. Fortunately, for the owners, the secret is probably already out because this place is always packed during lunch! They make excellent Vietnamese food and have very reasonable prices compared to their competitors. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday they make crab noodle soup which is absolutely delicious! The only downside is that the restaurant is pretty small and you have to park in a very cramped parking lot in the shopping center below. We waited at one of the bigger tables in the middle of the cozy shop while the staff cleaned a two-seater table. Gosh... this place is popular! This place has been around for a while. My friend took me here for my birthday. She said it gets busy and sometimes there a line outside. She got there before me and got us a table. We decided to share a shrimp papaya salad, spring roll and pork vermicelli noodles I really really really enjoyed this place. Service is quick and food was amazing! It's a tiny place.... Hole in the wall kind a place. They close at 8pm and people were still lined up outside to eat. I really like how they have combos cuz normally I wanna eat both but don't want to order two whole meals. The pho broth was really flavorful on its own without adding any sauce and the bahn mi had really good bread. I liked dipping the bahn mi in the broth like a French dip sandwich. WOW! It exists! Finding a Vietnamese restaurant outside of Chinatown that's actually on-par or even better with those has been unsuccessful because all of them adjust/tones down their flavors and tastes to accommodate to the area and clientele. This was a Thursday evening and finding a place to eat on that side of town proved to be more difficult than before as most places close early. Luckily, I saw Yum Yum Pho with its nearly 5 star average Yelp rating, so why not come here!? This place is located along Moanalua Road, near Aiea Heights Drive, across from Aiea Medical Building, next to Vina Cafe. There's a small parking lot behind the building which you can access by a ramp right next to the building, or from the stoplight at the intersection with Heleconia Pl and turn into the first driveway. For a Thursday, this place was packed! Albeit, this is a smallish place, but these are usually the best ones! We had a little bit of a wait as there was another couple in front. Even though the inside was small, it was still cozy and comfortable, and clean and vibrant. We started with the Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi. The baguette was REALLY good! Toasty and crispy outside, warm and soft inside with savory butter, flavorful lemongrass chicken, topped with perfectly marinated radish and carrot, and cilantro. The Eggplant Tofu Rice dish was excellent. Dish came out piping hot and it was very tasty with a nice char on the eggplant. I loved the addition of basil giving it a nice brightness with the savory and sweet. I also added a side of Small Pho Broth, and WOW, I was blown away. The flavors were spot on. You can taste the subtle herbs and spices. It was hearty, warm, and meaty. This little bowl was the best thing of the meal, and everything else was good! I must order the Pho next time! This time, we wanted to try the Crab Meat Noodle as this is only available on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. We were kindly noted that the broth is tomato-based and also the crab balls are made with real crab meat. Nice! The broth was light, warm with nice tomato flavor. The crab balls were very good. You can taste the crab! It also came with tofu, fish cake, shrimp, and slices of tomato. Noodles weren't the usual variety in Pho. It was the dried version of rice noodle. The accompaniments were the usual bean sprouts, jalapeno, basil, and a unique vegetable that we later found out it's sliced ong choy stem. Nice! It was really good! I might need to buy some at the market. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. I feel like this might be even better than the restaurants in Chinatown! Quite happy to have found Yum Yum Pho. All the food was very well prepared. The prices were very reasonable. The service was awesome. Owners were so friendly, welcoming, honest, informative, attentive, and just a pleasure to talk to. First visit: What makes this restaurant amazing and unique are the combos 1, 2, and 3 offered at amazing prices with generous portions, free parking, and establishment definitely lives up to its name Yum Yum. I initially craved for Crab Meat Noodle; however, Joanna informed me that they're out of it for today. My thoughts were this entree must be very popular after she informed me there was a big order this morning for ten Crab Meat Noodle. Best to return during lunch either Thursday, Friday or Sunday to enjoy this entree. Instead, I chose combo 3 which included choice of Pho - beef tendon with choice of banh mi - bbq pork. Broth of pho was indeed clean tasting. Beef tendon tasted very tender, generous portions served and gelatinous that softness blended well with the rest of veggies and rice noodles. BBQ Pork Banh Mi was out of this world! Joanna also wrapped my banh mi in foil and packed the rest of my pho in a to go soup container with lid. Very helpful and thoughtful. I ate banh mi for lunch leftover and French baguette still tasted crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, bbq pork was very tender and tasty, while pickled veggies retained crunchiness, and light mayo balanced the flavors. I also ate the remaining beef tendon pho for dinner and it was still yummy! My husband ordered combo 2 and stated throughout his meal that everything tasted fantastic! While I was chewing my food, I also gave two thumbs up! We equally enjoyed everything from crispy homemade spring rolls with house made dipping sauce, humongous summer rolls with slightly warm, flavorful, crunchy peanut dipping sauce, and sipping on Thai Iced Tea. Establishment gets crowded during peak hours. Fascinating to watch various Vietnamese street food on HDTV. Dress comfortable. Looking forward to return and try other entrees. Second visit: I was able to return for another visit and get my hands on Crab Meat Noodle. Broth served hot! When Yum Yum Pho (YYP) was mentioned, my first thought was its location as Judy galavants all over the island. As a townie, she's introduced to me great restaurants in West Oahu where I've now included them in my rotation of restaurants. Located in Aiea Town Square near Aiea Manapua, YYP offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine and has been serving this area for several years now. We arrived on a wet weekday evening where a bowl of pho was perfect. YYP is considerably a small restaurant and reservations are not taken here. I arrived first and secured a table for 8. While waiting for the others to arrive, I perused the menu and then recalled Judy previously texting me advising they have a great combo of pho and banh mi sandwich. After confirming with the waitress of what I wanted specifically in my pho, I got the Combo #3 of meatballs and beef tendon and paired it with BBQ pork banh mi. After we all ordered, we used the waiting time catching up with friends I haven't seen for months. The wait didn't seem that long and after we took turns snapping photos, it was time to dig in. THE VERDICT: The first thing I do with a bowl of pho is to taste the soup. The broth was piping hot and delicious but needed to be doctored up with their house satay and hoi sin sauce. I tossed in some of the sliced jalapeño and basil leaves. I took another sip of broth and the spice level satisfied my taste buds. Each group had their pho condiments (jalapeño slices, bean sprouts, basil sprigs and lemon wedge) plated and served separately. The beef tendon was served in thick chunks and tender. Noodles were cooked perfectly to my liking with a firm texture and bounce. Leftover pho doesn't taste good the next day so I made it a mission to finish my pho and take home the banh mi for another meal. My friends also commented enjoying their food, especially the oxtail pho. My friend let me sample the spring rolls. I made a lettuce wrap and spooned the dipping sauce. Enjoyed the combination of crunch, freshness, texture and flavor contrasts. Yum. Service was exceptional. Our server answered our questions, refilled our water cups and we asked for separate checks where she advised she'd ring us up individually. We scheduled to meet up at 10am, when they opened, but we ended up meeting closer to 11am due to unforeseen traffic. The restaurant was easy to find and there is free parking in the private lot. It's a cozy dining area with about 7 tables to dine on inside. We got lucky with the last available table. Nothing fancy and they have photos of menu items on the wall. We ordered a Combination Pho with the Rare Steak on the side, a Brisket Pho, Summer Rolls, a Thai Tea and an Iced Coffee. It didn't take them long to get our order out. The veggies were fresh but they don't offer culantro. We were surprised at how large the portions are for the price! Their sauté sauce is legit so make sure to give it a try if you like spice. With the bowl coming out piping hot, it quickly cooked the fresh veggies. Broth was quite good and the meat was tender. It was a lot of food so we had to take half the Summer Rolls to go. The serving size is large and easily shareable. Forgot to check in on my last visit, but Joanna was kind enough to give me an extra bowl so I could split a pho. The peanut sauce is delish! I only took a picture of the menu because I was so excited when the food came and too busy talking story that it totally slipped my mind *insert sad emoji here* Yum Yum Pho is a cute little hole in the wall place with about 6-7 tables in a cozy restaurant. On the main drag, close to Aiea Manapua. We were lucky enough to get there about 6pm and there were still a couple tables left. It took a little while for our water to come but the lady apologized and was very nice. We both got the Combo #2 which came with your choice of pho (except oxtail), 2 spring rolls, and a Thai coffee of Thai iced tea. The price is very reasonable especially with the prices of food that keeps going up. The pho broth was very tasty and a good portion. I got the rare steak but debated about getting the brisket because I usually like my meat with a little bit of fat. I used the two chili sauces on the table and the one with the oil was very very spicy but so tasty. The spring rolls were so crispy and they gave just the right amount of dipping sauce in a small ramekin. The Thai tea was a little too sweet for me but as expected. We didn't know that you're supposed to go up and pay when you're finished so we waited a while at our table for the check until I saw someone go up to pay. There's parking in the back of the building where Aiea Manapua is and next to the other buildings. And there's a stairs that goes up to the restaurant which is very convenient. Very nice staff. I love pho but after my favorite neighborhood pho restaurant shut down, I'm like "pho restaurant refugees" near my house. I and my husband decided to pho for brunch after his hair cut appointment. I looked for pho restaurant by Yelp and found this place! It's very cozy place but when we got inside luckily we had last table to seat. It was first time so I ordered combination pho steak on side and my husband chose pho with brisket & beef ball and spring rolls. Actually they are not only busy dine in also people to pick up but staff was very nice & kind. First just fresh fried summer rolls served. Cut to good size and lots with fresh vegetables( lettuce, mint, pickles) and rice noodles. It's so good! And shortly our pho came. Their soup has good flavor (feels Chinese star anise, I love it!) and lots of meat & noodles. We were both happy to this place! The price is very good!!!! (I'm little worried is their price okay?!) What better way to help along a cold or flu than a bowl of Pho? Called in my takeout order and was greeted by a noticeably friendly lady. We ordered the vegetarian pho and the crab pho (available Friday through Sunday). She asked if I've ever had the crab pho before and when I told her it was my first time, she explained what was in it and that it was tomato based. I thought it was very thoughtful. Order was ready for pickup in about 30 mins. Parking is in the small lot by Aiea Manapua. We waited in the cosy little shop while listening to the family cook in the back. Very friendly people. We ordered the bbq pork Bahn mi, the Combination Bahn mi, and the shrimp summer rolls.$30. The pork Bahn Mi was not as good as most places. The pork was more like a pork roast than the BBQ pork you get at other Vietnamese restaurants. Everything else was average. I'm so glad we came here! Saw the great Yelp reviews so I had to come try. It's a small restaurant and the lady owner is such a sweet lady. I thought all the dishes looked delicious from the photos but I love the fact that they have special combination meals! It's a deal and I get to try the banh mi, spring rolls and pho! Hubby had the Thai tea with spring rolls and chicken pho. The spring rolls had the classic OG taste which I loved. I had the banh mi and brisket pho. This place doesn't skimp on meat, noodles or bean sprouts! I hate it when some pho restaurants charge so much for their pho nowadays with very little noodles. The broth here is amazing and they make their own hot chili oil which she indicated is pretty spicy. I loved it in my pho! We live in the area now and have enjoyed this spot multiple times. Just tried the lemongrass shrimp last night which was a different dish than our norm and also the combo bahn mi. Layer on the flavor. The Pho broth is clean and fully loaded with a smack of authentic flavor. The fantastic, magic, chili oil HITS like to mama did with that lemon grass stick! Value for portion and offering. Smaller venue call ahead for to go or come early or off peak for seating. Service is on Hawaiian time, but the food is well worth it!
