Dinner with friends... Thai food is an excellent choice when dining with a group as you're able to order multiple items and graze through the varieties. Thai Bistro Suksabay is found at Pearl Kai so you know that parking is super easy though deciding what to order is easier said than done but luckily I have a group who knows what they want and just enjoyed having them make the choices. Yellow Curry with sticky rice, Stuffed Chicken wings, Pad Kra Pho, Kee Mao and Pad Seiew noodles. I am more of the americanized palate when it comes to some of these dishes and enjoy them as I'm clueless of what's authentic but with that it was okay for me personally though it was nice that they gave us a nice long table so that we're able to sit together but am a Kee Mao lover along with the stuffed chicken wings. The staff was nice as I just went with the flow and enjoyed my evening with friends. Thank you!

***3.5 STARS*** The other week I missed out on a Thai dinner with my foodie friends as I had dinner plans with family but was extended another invite for another Thai dinner the very next week. The venue this time was Thai Bistro Suksabay (TBS), apparently a family owned restaurant in Pearl Kai Shopping Center. There's a huge lot of shared parking with many businesses here. It was agreed to congregate here after work on Thursday. Traffic from town to Aiea was manageable as it took less than 20 min to arrive. Upon entry I was greeted by the staff who showed me where our table was as Auntie (aka Nadine C.) organized the get together and made reservations. I was catching up with Irene M. while waiting for the others to show up. I was digging the bright and clean, cozy restaurant with tasteful Thai decor that was very inviting. Once everyone arrived we were hungry and after hearing what dishes were desired, I was tasked to order family style for our group. We utilized our waiting time discussing over Yelp events and upcoming travel plans. As food started to arrive, we snapped photos with our cameras and it was time to dig in. THE VERDICT: The star of the night was the stuffed chicken wings. Executed beautifully. Generously stuffed and deep fried until golden brown. Tasty, crunchy, served hot. Would come back just for this. I'd order this again in a heart beat. But sadly, this was the only memorable dish out of 6 items we ordered. Unfortunately, most of the remaining dishes selected were underwhelming. I agree with Rod U. as he mentioned in his review. The food here seems Westernized to cater to the foot traffic in this area. I've been to Thai restaurants in Oahu with better quality. I found the food here lacking depth, taste and finesse. Both the pad see ew and pad kee mao lacked smokiness and charred noodles that make the dish. The beef used was chewy and far from tender. Not a fan of large chunks of potatoes in the yellow curry, which lacked flavor and richness - - it was watery and the chicken inside didn't provide enough flavoring. The pad kra pao was also disappointing as large chunks of green and bell peppers were used and the dish had too much gravy. Dish lacked flavor and smokiness and the fried egg on top was cooked over easy on low heat. Authentic restaurants will fry the egg high heat where the edges crisp nicely while maintaining the sunny side egg. The sticky rice was standard. I had to ask for spicy sauce and was provided 2 ramekins of sambal and given a bottle of sriracha. Because others only wanted sriracha, I myself ended up using all of the sambal to provide the spiciness I enjoy in Thai dishes that were sadly missing in our food. Restaurant wasn't that busy but service was spotty. Seemed like 2 brothers (?) were working the floor, 1 of them seemed like still in middle school. They were pleasant and one of them engaged in my party favors that I brought that evening. Overall, mixed feelings of TBS where I wouldn't bring my family here. I'm willing to do a carryout of only their stuffed wings or do a redemption visit with some friends. Not willing to drag my family to Aiea to disappoint them as clearly my first visit was not memorable with the subpar food. But I'm grateful TBS provided the venue for my friends and I to get together and have dinner together.

Dinner in Pearl Kai, Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i... Thai cuisine is fun to share - and our group of six really enjoyed Thai Bistro Suksabay! The free parking, elegant, nicely air-conditioned environment, and friendly, helpful staff were much appreciated! We had: pad kee mao (drunken noodles with a kick), pad see ew (i can eat this! Broccoli was good!), pad kra pad (spicy for me), yellow curry (a little spicy, but i finished it), sticky rice (i ate an entire serving), and stuffed chicken wings - crunchy! We agreed that this wasn't the best Thai cuisine, but it sure wasn't the worst! It's not Americanized, but it could be better... like more smokey flavor on the noodles and less mushy noodles? Overall, it was a great foodie adventure!

This small family style Thai bistro has been on my list to try as I love Thai food! I was so excited to go and try out their curry. I got the red curry Thai hot and for once they listened!!! most look at my fair skin and prejudge and never actually make it spicy so I was beyond happy to taste a small bite and feel the heat!!! I was enjoying the heat but was having a hard time chewing the seafood as it was super tough due to being overcooked. I actually had to stop trying to chew a piece of the squid and just put it on a side plate. Some of the bamboo shoots were too tough to bite through as well. It tasted like chewing on wood. My daughter loved the pad Thai! So that made me super happy. Service was super kind and checked on use throughout our meal! It might have just been an off day but I left feeling mixed as the flavor and spice was great but the seafood was a huge disappointment.

Service is a 4. We were like the only table there. The owner and his employee were very attentive. I'd give them a 5 for service. Now to the food... the food didn't meet my expectations. I was really disappointed with everything I had. We ordered 9 dishes for 5 adults and 1 child. Pad Thai- wish they had left the beans sprout on the side. It was missing lime and some ground peanuts. 8/10 Pad see ew- it was pretty much expected. Could use a little for seasoning and maybe cook at a higher temp to get that restaurant seasoning/flavor/heat. 9/10 Pak Lee mao- same as pad see ew. 8/10 Papaya salad - the papaya should be shredded a lot thinner. Should not be using Roma tomato or and should be using cherry tomato. The fish sauce was salty and needed some lime juice and of course r, ground peanuts. 5/10 Stuffed chicken wing- a little bal d and felt like it was over fried. Batter is too thick. 6/10 Satay chicken- tasted like it was deep fried or pan fried and not grilled. The peanut sauce should be on the side and not dressed on top. 6/10 Fried chicken- crispy as expected. Delicious 10/10 House fried rice- special sauce was soy sauce. That's all I could taste. I did like the rice the used though. It was a little sticky but not quite the sticker rice consistency. 7/10 Tom yum soup- good but just a little on the sour side. Might be good with white rice. 7/10 and possible 9/10 if I had white rice. I didn't have the heart to leave everything there so I took most of the food home. I definitely won't be eating it again. Spent $175 after tip.

I was not a fan of the food, however the staff were extremely friendly! I don't want to bash on them, I just know the pad Thai and the spring rolls were "different" and just wasn't for me. I'm not a Thai snob by any means, the flavors were not what I was expecting

absolutely elated to find a very good thai place here! they look very unsuspecting from the outside but when you walk in you'll be immediately greeted. the space is small but service is very quick so wait time isn't long. i really wanted to try their penang curry and pad thai because those are my go-to orders at any thai restaurant. the curry was spot on! i prefer mine a little thicker and theirs was pretty runny but the flavors were perfect. the pad thai had a taste of ketchup so i wasn't really a fan but it was good enough that I'd order it again if i had a craving. price is very reasonable and the service is great. it's really peaceful inside and a great spot for groups or date night! definitely adding this place into our regular rotation.

At the suggestion of Elite Gail U, Thai Bistro Suksabay became the establishment of choice for our girl's lunch. Preface by saying I rarely head west past the HNL Airport. Moreover, the RAIL construction makes it difficult to get around on the surface street. But I'll go anywhere to have a great lunch with my girlfriends. I'm certainly glad we dined here. The food was great. The service was even greater and parking is not a problem at this Pearl Kai Marketplace where Thai Bistro is located. The do close at 2 pm so if you're planning lunch, please plan to go there early,. I do recommend the stuffed chicken wings. (I try this dish at any Thai restaurant who serves this....) Thai Bistro's stuffed wings make the top 3 in in book!

A perfect place for a trio of friends to catch up and enjoy lunch together. I was the last to arrive with 15 minutes to go til noon. Such punctual Yelp Elite friends. Love that! Large enough space and the tables weren't crammed together. The food came out fast enough cuz I didn't have time to glance around. I know the front of the restaurant had changed with perhaps a long serving counter across from their kitchen. 3 iced thai coffees, stuffed chicken wings, pad kee mow(wide noodles) with beef and server asked, spring rolls? Two items were fried so perhaps a salad and/or a curry dish should have been added too. The stuffed chicken wings I breathed in instead of chewing and swallowing properly, I ended up coughing into my napkin several times. Must be the oinker in me. Sorry! Our conversations ran high but we weren't rambunctious as the gentlemen on our left. We must be small eaters cuz there were leftovers. Our male server(possible owner?) and his female helper let us enjoy each others'company rather than chasing us out. We actually stood up to leave once the one other remaining table left a smidgin of a moment before us. We plan to meet up again before the end of 2024 Awesome!!

And to make things even trickier, there are no left turns on Dillingham, so plan your route accordingly. But once you do make it there, you'll find it tucked inside Bliss Lounge & Bar, which is actually a plus. What pairs better with crispy, fried chicken than an ice-cold beer or cocktail? Plus, the space is cozy and great for hanging out with friends. Since it's inside Bliss lounge and bar, there's no table service, so you'll need to scan a QR code to order or better yet, save yourself the hassle and order ahead here: https://www.clover.com/online-ordering/soul-chicken-honolulu I've always been quoted 20 minutes for orders, but in my experiences, it's always ready sooner. If you're grabbing takeout, ordering ahead online is the way to go so you're not stuck waiting. And this chicken? Crispy, light, not greasy, and not weighed down by batter, exactly how it should be. My go to flavors are Honey Garlic and Yang Nyeom (spicy) and if you're taking it home, I highly recommend getting the sauce on the side to avoid any soggy disappointments. My only complaint are that some of these chickens look like they barely made it past chickhood because a few of the pieces are really small. I'm talking bite sized in a way that makes you wonder if they ran out of full-grown birds. But hey, what they lack in size, they definitely make up for in flavor. If you can navigate the construction mess (and the no-left-turn nightmare on Dillingham), Soul Chicken is a solid spot for some seriously good Korean fried chicken just maybe don't expect every wing to be a heavyweight or order more half dozens.

Super disappointed with the crazy service tonight…read more I placed an order outside using the kiosk for just a chicken katsu special at 5:52 PM since it was crowded inside and ended up waiting 45 minutes for that one plate. It wasn't just the waiting, it was the service and lack of communication that pushed it over. After placing my order, I entered the restaurant and waited on the side since there wasn't a place to sit and wait. The worker who was stationed at the front soon came back and asked "How can I help you?" and I mentioned that I ordered on the kiosk outside and she walked away without saying anything. Around 10 minutes in I noticed the worker mentioning to every person in line only after they tried to order that the wait would be 30 minutes for anything on the grill since they had a big order. The questions that came to mind every time a person attempted to order was "why wouldn't she tell them that they would have to wait 30 minutes from the beginning before they even tried to order so they could reevaluate if their orders needed the grill?" And "what items are not on the grill?" Every person in line would get frustrated as she wouldn't even show what items didn't need the grill.. They would say "Okay I want to order this instead" and she would keep saying "that's on the grill so you have to wait 30 minutes." Like they were supposed to know.. Who wouldn't get frustrated? Time went on and I found myself still waiting at 6:30 PM. When i heard her mentioning the chicken katsu wouldn't take long since it's not on the grill. No update, just me sitting on those high chairs obviously waiting for my order. It's worse because you don't get a buzzer for using the kiosk. I decided to ask about my order but still had to wait in line to talk to that same worker. When it was eventually my turn, I said "I wanted to check on my order" and showed her a picture of the kiosk with the order number because the kiosk didn't print a receipt for me and rudely responded with "Your order's already ready" and just handed it to me.. Excuse me? No one even bothered to tell me it was ready and she spoke to me like I was supposed to know it was ready. How long was it ready that I was wasting my time waiting there? Also, please fix the option on the kiosk when you select the chicken katsu; it should have the option or be defaulted with "White rice & mac salad" like your app. The kiosk is misleading and doesn't say you don't need to select "all rice" or the other up-charge options. So when she gave it to me and she said all rice I explained to her that I thought it was making me choose an option and she got defensive and said "No it doesn't." She eventually took it to the back to put mac salad then returned and rudely told me "Next time just don't select an option." Wow. It was not my fault that no one called me to tell me my order was ready. It was not my fault there was a flood of orders during dinner time. I like Oh My Grill but please do better with the customer service, especially with the person who's in charge at the front. I understand that it gets overwhelming when it's busy but the communication and customer service was just the worst. No one deserves to be treated like that especially when we come often. This was such a horrible experience.. Maybe won't come back for a while.

Ordered by phone the day prior, and just gave them my phone number as usual (it's how they identify you when you pick up, with no worries about duplicate or misspelled names.). Every time I've ordered in advance, our order has always been packed neatly and ready in a box for takeout. (My brother had brought a box just in case, and smoothly offered it to their staff for someone else's future order.) The restaurant has several tables for dining in, and markings on the floor for those waiting in line. It's brightly lit and clean as well. I appreciate their staff, food, service, and generous servings. They make us look so good with our potluck contributions! So what did we order? Half chicken katsu, half chicken wings, a small platter ($45 for the small pan, but picture a much loaded tray) - it's a great value deal! It was the same order our cousins loved when we brought it on Christmas Day (they especially love the wings, but we love the katsu-so this year we asked for half-half instead of all katsu, and they were so happy, ha ha!) Oh, and they give you a nice big container of yummy katsu sauce;)! I like their panko and cooking method, as whatever they do, the chicken is nice and crisp, and tasty - with, or without the sauce, actually. First time that I actually tried the wings, as I'm not a wing person. (I didn't even try it at Christmas, lol.). But, it was nice and crisp, lightly seasoned, and the wings had lots of meat on them. Easy finger food, and they were not dripping in oil, either, which I appreciated! Also ordered (for the first time) a small platter of chicken chow mein (a little over $30?). It was based on a good recommendation by an admittedly biased family member of the owners, and we were pleasantly surprised! The small pan was covered in wrap and then foil, because the mound of noodles was seriously kinda big! My brother was like, quick, go tell mom to come look before we open it (as she's picky, so it's hard to impress her). It was filled with lots of veggies (sliced carrots, cabbage, onions, etc) and bbq chicken pieces, tossed with great flavor (I want to say it was a nice sauce, but this wasn't a wet noodle dish.). My dad added Chinese mustard soy sauce, but my mom and I thought it was perfect the way it was. Oh, don't laugh, we're only a family of four, so yes, we ate two meals - lunch and dinner - and still packed a ton of leftovers! As we watched the game, we commented to each other what great choices we had made. (We also had sushi trays and other treats, and of course, chips, and my brother's dip. My brother said we may not have had a favorite team to cheer on today, but it was a great excuse for a party, ha ha!) I know we're doing a repeat for our next occasion, for sure! We'll gradually try some of their other foods, and it's farther away than we'd like to drive (I know, it's not that far, but we live on the other side, ok?). My brother agrees it's worth the drive - it's across Aloha Stadium and literally in the same spot as Ice Palace; and we saw quite the line at the Taco Bell drive through when we were looking for parking;). He also compared it to the cost and serving size of what we ordered on New Year's, from a restaurant much closer to where we live. Hands down, it was not even a close comparison, his emphasis added. So go here, it's perfect for family dinners and potlucks and I hope you agree with my assessment;)! Oops, I didn't take any pictures, aiya!!!
