    Pad Thai
    Megan K.

We're staying in a hotel off Nimitz and wanted Thai food that wasn't too far away and inexpensive. We found Pad Thai, ordered online, and it was ready in 15 mins. Inside was tiny, I didn't look around too much to see the appeal inside, but they promptly handed me my order when I walked in and said I'm here for a to go order! The food was piping hot, definitely fresh and made to order. My mom got the 33. Tom Yum Soup (Medium Spicy) and it said it came with shrimp. It didn't come with shrimp, it came with chicken, so she was disappointed. They should update their menu online!but the broth was hot, tasted great, and the soup was loaded with mushrooms and chicken. I had the pad Thai. I wanted it spicy but it wasn't so I added my own hot sauce at home. It was good. Both the soup and pad Thai portions were huge and we have enough for a second meal. I also opted to try the mango sticky rice. It wasn't too bad either. The rice was just a big ball soaking in coconut milk, and the mango was sweet but brown in some spots. Overall not a bad dinner, I'd just change a few things.

Yup we're here... Finding ourselves at Salt Lake Shopping Center for dinner at Pad Thai where it's located along with a few other biz lined up right beside Safeway. Walking in the places very tiny though nice and clean and do manage to have several tables that did fill up quite fast and with that there's no restroom which you need to go to the mall provided one definitely takes a star away for me though the convenience of ample free parking is always nice. We did order the usual preferred dishes of Pad Si Eiw, Yellow Curry with sticky rice and Pad Kra Pao (I could be mistaken with the spelling) okay did I enjoy it...yes though I'm more of an americanized palate but do love Thai basil and the flavorful spices that makes it unique though somehow it just fell short for me visual for me as raw cabbage and carrots as a garnish or accompaniment felt like an afterthought. The vibe is very busy with many taking advantage of their take out is nice to see but it didn't impress me much sadly but love the time spent with friends, thank you Nadine and Peter. Thank you!

The sweet sour stir fry with pork, eggplant basil, and papaya salad were scrumptious! Both ladies in the front were so attentive with water refills and checked on us to make sure everything was good. I am impressed with the freshly, piping hot cooked dishes served with a smile. Definitely my new favorite Thai restaurant!

Dinner at Salt Lake Shopping Center in Honolulu, Hawaii... Looking for a restaurant that Irene M. and I haven't visited yet is challenging. We wanted to select Thai cuisine because it's Peter Y.'s favorite. Peter said he had been to Pad Thai in the past and he had liked it. We wondered how long ago his experience had taken place because there was room for improvement... We appreciated the free shared parking. It was tight because - after work, people tend to want to go grocery shopping at Safeway; go to the credit union; grab some dinner; have dessert; Etc. Yes... it was a busy time. We didn't have a reservation, but got seated before the crowd arrived. It was a good thing that Peter warned me about the restroom... it's "far away" - by Safeway - and up the stairs. I got the key from one of the workers and headed across the way. It was spooky because a guy was coming up the stairs behind me. I entered the gated area quickly and shut the door behind me immediately! I went to the last stall and let out a scream because there was a woman in there! She hadn't locked the door! OMG! Outside of the restaurant, some sketchy people were hanging around. There was an undernourished gal who was talking to herself while a guy was trying to pick her up... like in a flirting way... LOL! Cringe! Inside the cozy restaurant, we ordered Pad see ew, Pad kra pao, and yellow curry with sticky rice. The food seemed a bit Americanized because - for example - the Pad see ew had celery and baby corn in it! The yellow curry was almost bland and the sauce was liquidy... The Pad kra pow was missing a fried egg on the top and a bed of rice on the bottom. Instead, it had bell peppers and bamboo shoots mixed in... LOL! I'm glad we got a chance to try this place together. It might be a rare one and done visit... Thanks to Irene and Peter for the very interesting conversation and super great company!

Take out order of Shrimp Pad Thai (8/2025)

OVERALL 4.5/5 PARKING: Free in the shopping center parking lot AMBIANCE: Feels very mom n pop, about 7-8 tables inside, when I came nearly all the tables were full, weekday at 5pm. FOOD: I wanted quick take out, so I called in a quick order of shrimp pad thai and also an order of spring rolls, which are basically egg rolls. It was ready in 15 minutes. The shrimp pad thai had 6 good sized shrimp and a small container of chopped peanuts. The spring rolls had a few slices of cucumber, and some lettuce to wrap the egg rolls up in, along with a clear dipping sauce. Big fan of those spring rolls!

Ordered the classic Pad Thai and fresh summer rolls for a quick lunch craving, and this spot delivered authentic Thai balance without the tourist traps. The Pad Thai shone with wok-charred rice noodles that absorbed every bit of the tamarind-fish sauce glory--tangy sour up front, subtle palm sugar sweetness, and umami depth that wasn't drowned in sweetness like some watered-down versions. Loaded with crunchy bean sprouts, scrambled egg bits, tender shrimp or chicken, and those little preserved radish pops for complexity, plus a generous peanut crunch on top. Not saucy or heavy; it left that satisfied, fresh-afterglow feeling with a lime squeeze elevating the whole thing. Summer rolls were a crisp, refreshing counterpoint--rice paper wrappers hugging julienned cukes, carrots, vermicelli, lettuce, and herbs without sogginess or excess dipping sauce needed. Light shrimp inside peeked through beautifully, adding sweet brininess that paired perfectly pre-Pad Thai. No heavy frying; just clean, vibrant textures that screamed freshness

One of my favorite thai food places on island! Dined in this time. Server came super quick. Brought water and took order. Food came out quickly. Chicken sateh was amazing. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed the peanut butter sauce and the coconut sauce on top - yum! The green curry was good. I just wish it was a little thicker as it was a little runny and soupy, but the flavor was definitely there. The rad nah is my absolute favorite! So flavorful and delicious with yummy noodles. I'll be back again! Parking: Lots of parking in the shopping center

This is super convenient next to the airport and super delicious. I was waiting for my parents to get in so came over here to get some takeout. The staff is super friendly. It was super clean and smelled clean when I walked in and highly satisfied with the taste of the food as well. I do suggest coming here about craving Thai food.

Their restaurant is so cool tho. Upon walking in, you sign in if needed, wait to be seated. As you walk in, there's a pretty decor, I would say photo opp, but there's a table and stuff blocking. They should clear that area, so people can take pictures with it lol but when you get seated, you walk through, and they take you to the back for outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating. They have the commercial tents, and pretty outdoor decor out there too, like lights and stuff. And there's a koi pond. Bathroom is back there. The only sucky part is if it was to rain hard or have strong winds, I wonder how they deal with that. But make sure you go when it's nice weather. It's BYOB!! They have a good amount of seating too. Our go to for Olay's is the Lao style papaya salad. We eat it with chicharon, and I think they have option to order a side chicharon, but we were prepared and went store before heading over to buy bag chicharon and they allowed it for us instead of spending the same amount for a handful, you get more when you BYOBC - bring your own bag chicharon lol I just made that up. If it's BYOB, I'm sure they'll allow it. We eat that with sticky rice. Omg so bomb. I like to get the stuffed chicken wings, we ordered the calamari. Was good. We got yellow chicken curry. The wife wanted to try the beef jerky, she likes it. We take the sticky rice and roll it in to a ball, and dip it in the bagooong papaya salad sauce and even the curry. Eat it with the papaya salad and stuffed chicken!! Omg so good! One thing I forgot to mention, they are located in the heart of Chinatown, on hotel street, so you gotta find parking. Street parking or pay for public parking. Would we come here again, definitely! 10/10 recommend. Check out Olay's for your Lao food fix!

The beef was tender, and the heat level was just right (spicy but still balanced). So good over rice. The chicken panang curry was rich, creamy, and comforting. The curry sauce had that slightly sweet, nutty depth with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was honestly spoon-worthy. We also ordered the summer rolls, which were fresh and light -- packed with crisp veggies and herbs. Dipped in peanut sauce, they were the perfect refreshing starter before the richer dishes. And Peter was a great waiter -- friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Service definitely elevated the experience. Everything tasted fresh and well-executed. This, however, will probably be my first and last visit. The place is cute enough, with a large back garden area where I chose to dine. Service was also great. I appreciate the little button at the table that I could click for service. The food, however, was mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, ginger chicken, chicken satay, and pork larb. The pad Thai was the best dish, but it was very tomatoey, which I did not expect. The chicken with ginger had very little chicken. It was mostly julienned vegetables, including celery which I do not care for. The chicken satay was kinda dry and most certainly needed the peanut sauce to make it palatable. The larb was very dry with very bland flavor, served on one lettuce leaf and a wedge of cabbage. How am I supposed to eat that? All of it was quite disappointing, especially for the price point. As I was eating this meal I remembered the Thai food truck at the end of Ward, where Fisherman's Pier used to be. Now THAT was some good Thai food. I guess that was the best thing about this meal-remembering where I could get really good Thai food-so that the next time I'm having a craving, I can go back over there...I hope it's still there.

We caught it right away and asked about it, and she said she had already included a tip in the total, without ever asking us. We never told her how much we wanted to tip, so it felt pretty shady that she just added one on her own and then still gave us the option to tip again. If we hadn't been paying attention and just tapped a tip option, we would've ended up overpaying. What's weird is that we had eaten here just a couple days earlier and everything was normal. The total matched, and we tipped on our own. No one added anything extra without asking. If this had been our first time, we probably would've assumed gratuity was automatically included and not thought twice about it. When we brought that up, the waitress suddenly acted like she didn't understand us, even though she had been communicating perfectly fine before. She walked away and got another staff member, who told us tipping is optional and then in a rude tone, asked, "So what do you want to do?" We still tipped in the end because we know service jobs aren't easy, but the whole situation just felt icky. Like how could you try to scam your own customers? Definitely left a bad impression, and it looks like others have had similar experiences if you look at the 1& 2 stars reviews. Makes me wonder how many people this has happened to without knowing.
