It was in Kalihi and kind of close to this place so decided to drop by just in case they still had a good selection of choices since it was after 12pm...nope! I didn't want to go somewhere else so just ordered a few items that were left. I did enjoy the food I chose and my husband did too. Thought the prices were about the same as other delicatessen's so that's a plus. A friend recommended their fried tofu with green beans so I will come back for that at an earlier time and I'll have more to choose from. This place is located on Gulick Avenue in a residential area. My husband parked across the street from this place. When I crossed the street, I called him to let him know there's a small parking lot on the right of their building...yay!

Garlic chicken, shrimp/tofu broccoli, and chow fun

The food is very tasty won't fail you that department. As texture wise, most of garlic chicken skin was mushy and not crispy...maybe the heat made it soggy. I was able find tidbit crunchy pieces. The broccoli dish had shrimp and tofu ad sopping up the gravy. Broccoli maintained it's nice green color and crunchiness...love that sound! The broccoli dish and chow fun compliments the garlic chicken with their own perfect flavors. Lunch time is filled with dishes galore! Service is friendly and great! Ambiance is bustling with customers, but be able to communicate what you want...come on down! Ciao!

"Roger's can't sell chicken around here, we got chicken places on every block." Cosmo Kramer, Seinfeld Well, certainly not on Gulick Ave. Garlic, Spicy, Shoyu, Fried, and katsu; they got it covered! da Scene: Mondays are rough in town... most Okazuya are closed from Waialae to downtown, gotta head to North School Street to find good stuff. My go to in this part of town is Gulick. da Grub: got 2 bentos and 1 lg. Box of overflow. You got the standards: fried chicken, chow fun/mein, Teri beef, shrimp tempura, ahi Teri & spam. But my add on's make the Bento "deluxe" and enough for a 2nd round later. Add On box: shiso musubi, shrimp and veg. tempura, garlic chicken, and couple hash patties. Mmmmmm! da Service: Long line and but moves pretty good.Ladies are nice and quick, but don't linger too much picking!!

    Okazuya-style food

If you enjoy old-school Okazuya-style spots, Gulick Delicatessen is a solid choice. They offer a huge variety of items, and it's easy to end up with a full plate before you know it. Everything is fresh, reasonably priced, and very nostalgic if you grew up eating this kind of food. Parking can be a mix--there are a few reserved stalls and some street parking nearby, but it can get busy depending on the time of day. Overall, a classic Kalihi stop and worth returning to so you can try more of their options. Support local!

Gulick's used to have their egg omelette filled with kamaboko, green onions, and some kind of meat (spam?) folded in with a nice dashi flavor. Lately when I have gone this is what the egg looks like "a fried folded egg" pretty disappointing especially the fact that the price for a piece. On the plus, their service is friendly and the ladies are great and patient when it comes to large orders.

Gulick had been there for the longest time I known. We had business in middle st when we found it mid 70's I could be mistaken when they opened up. Opens at 05:00 am now opens until 3:00pm! Go early their choices of great eats gone in ton time! BBQ Meat or teriyaki beef too salty or marinated in shoyu too long I'm not sure but it goes well with Chowfun noodles not salty at all. Their potato, macaroni salads and namasu are the best tasty salads I know! The large size egg rolls are sold quickly. Goes very well with any order one chooses! Hamburger patties are deli's but today's burnt in the back otherwise edible! Eggplant with pieces of satiated teriyaki beef cut into small parts outmost delicious vegetables stir fry I had in ages! The amount of food given price is right! We shall have it for dinner as well!

I have eaten here since I was a kid and my parents use to take me now I take my kids here food is always prepared fresh and so delicious. They have so much options to choose i can't express how good it is cause you gotta go there and try it and thank me later for having a happy tummy. Service was fast and efficient. The store has a nice kick to it feels like old school.

Potato Tempura , shrimp tempura, nomasu and Saimen noodles so tasty.

Good 'ol Gulick where the food is delicious and the service is great! Favorites: teri hamburger, gobo, potato salad Also recommended: spicy chicken (has bones though), tamagoyaki, corned beef hash patty, cone sushi, namasu The only item I can't recommend is the fried tofu with green beans because I once got a batch with really hard pieces. If you do not see something out that you've had before (and they aren't about to close for the day), there's a fair chance the next batch is already being prepared in the back, so just ask and they can often grab it for you. There's also a menu of set bentos to choose from. Parking is limited but there is no dining in, so it turns over quickly.

Update on Gulick Deli this morning I stopped to get breakfast for my co-workers . I got there once they opened at 5am and I was the only customer. Normally there always a line , the service was fast and friendly and I ordered 4x the same plate . Garlic chicken, shrimp tempura, chow mein, egg omelette and Musubi . Support local

I love going to Gulick. The service is fast and the staff are friendly. The food is always good. They make the best chow funn. My favorite is the garlic chicken. The place is very clean. It's our favorite go-to delicatessen!

Wednesday July 9, 2025 I have been coming here for years and I still love it! Park on the street fast kind or in their small private lot of 4-5 cars? The food is good and so many choices to choose from. Service is fast and friendly. I will definitely continue to come back here and to support local businesses.

Spicy chicken, tofu, some of the veggie dishes, noodles, etc.

I wanted to come here because I wanted to try okazuya and you can't get that on the mainland. It's a very casual place. Hours are limited which does make it hard to come here, but it's worth it and close to Waikiki. Ordering is very casual. You have to go up to see what you want. We got a huge variety to try a bunch of things. Chicken: 8/10. Got the shoyu chicken and the spicy chicken. Both were amazing Nishime: 7/10. Unique and not something I eat often but I'm so glad we got it. Tofu: 7/10. Good but nothing special Chow fun: 6/10. Bit bad but nothing stand out Overall, fun and good to try. We had so much that we couldn't finish it all but it's hard to resist when there's so much variety. Cone sushi: 6/10. I like inari and the portion is a decent size but nothing crazy.

So the thing about coming to Fun Station is the "suspended flying noodle thingy" which I didn't go for, but if you like Instagramable stuffs, then I supposed you would probably go for that flying-noodle dish. As for me, I mainly came to try their Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, and as a bonus......... I actually got a 20% discount thanks to my friend - Jennifer C. who let a Bruddah know about da DEALAGES in da Sunday food section newspaper, as they had a coupon! The Sunday morning when I came with my friend, I can clearly see that this restaurant was thriving, as every table in the restaurant was taken. Fun Station specializes in noodles, but if you're not into that, they do serve other items like - soups, vegetable dishes, rice plates, & porridge (jook). Upon looking over the menu, we ordered the following items - 1. Frrrrrrried Chicken Wings ($9.95) for an appetizer 2. Minute Chicken Cake Noodles ($17.95 - minus da 20% coupon DEALAGES) 3. Beef Brisket Tendon & Won Ton in soup ($18.95) What can I say about da grub??? Da chicken wings came out hot & crispy. Although they featured only "flats" vs. drums (I like drums), I must say da wings was nicely executed. As for the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles.........nicely plated on a fancy smanshy panda plate. The cake noodles weren't drowning in gravy, so the noodles stayed crispy on the dish. I really liked how they did this dish, and would easily come back here to eat it again. My friend had the Beef Brisket Tendon & Won Ton soup. The dish looked good, and there weren't any complaints, so I take it that it was pretty ono! Overall, a very satisfying meal and the service here was on point, as the staff was friendly & very efficient. Easy 5 stars for the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles! Chance 'em!

There was a couple in front of us who said they come here every time they visit Hawaiʻi and that it's a must-do stop on every trip. When you walk in, it's a small place. You can watch a team member washing the noodles and portioning them into bowls right in front of you. Then you choose your bowl size, small or large, and select your broth. After that, you get to choose from a variety of fried items and other à la carte options displayed on a warmer. Seating can be limited because of how busy this place gets. You line up to get your food, pay for it, grab your condiments, utensils, and a cup of water, then find a seat and enjoy. I've already been here twice, and after writing about my experience, I need to make a third visit happen very soon! There are not enough days off in a week to enjoy all of the amazing food on this island, but I'm going to do my best to experience as many places as I can. This place is totally worth the 45-minute commute from Wahiawa.

I finally decided why not and came with a friend on new years day lunch time. They were pretty busy already after just 30ish minutes of opening (12pm). Service: We were seated immediately and the service method is pretty simple, you scan the QR code and order through there. My main gripe with this service method is the waitresses aren't as attentive, we couldn't really ask any questions prior to ordering and even after ordering, I had to stand up to the front and wave someone down to pay for our order (as they had a special they had to apply before we paid). We ordered: - Spicy Beef Pancake: 10/10, didn't expect to like this so much as well. Not that spicy to be honest. More like a light spicy flavor. The beef inside was also juicy. - Pan-fried pork bun: 10/10, I was honestly looking forward to this more than the XLB and I was correct to do so. The filling was juicy like a XLB but the dough was also fluffy, doughy, AND has a crispy bottom. Would come back just for this and recommend this 10 times over!! - Sui Mai: 8.8/10; this was like any other good sui mai you may get at different dimsum places. Just pork though, no mushroom or seafood chucks like some other spots. - Steamed Beef with Sticky Rice: 8.1/10. This wasn't bad by any means but just didn't compare to the rest of the items. I didn't like how some parts were super fatty. - Xiao Long Bao: 10/10, the wrapped is thin but thick enough for me to pick up the dumpling without it popping. The soup was flavorful and so was the pork within. They had a special going on which made our XLB be like $5 instead of the $14 it usually is. We were super surprised of how little our bill was give that we were stuffed at the end of the meal and had some leftovers. Even without the discount it would've been a great deal. I heavily recommend, especially the pan-fried pork bun and XLB!!

It's serious 家常菜 or home-style cooking or quick food you'd find on the street: ong-choy, tomato-braised scrambled egg, garlic cabbage, essentially all the greats, shareable. Seasons also offers the beef soupy noodle sets, but when it's 85+ degrees out and sunny and 80% humidity, I do question ppl's judgement. I've always loved the Plaza, empty and partly abandoned, bec/ the design is conducive to good airflow and cooling, a much underappreciated architectural element in modern downtowns. But the bums and indigent love it more and sadly always leave some je ne sais quoi. Seasons finds itself across from the dim sum behemoth in Chinatown, Legends, but that's a different flavor profile. We were told that the first batch would be served about 11 a.m. so we quickly put our order in. The first thing that caught my attention, was the savory aroma of their 5-spice ground pork being cooked. You can add this as a topping to the noodle dish. The second thing that caught my attention, was the labor of love going in to each order of fresh pulled noodles. You can watch him stretch the dough ball and slap it on the counter before he boils each batch with careful preparation. The third thing that caught my attention, was their adorable mother, helping to slice the cucumbers and top each dish with crushed iso peanuts. Do not forget to order the side of pickled bittermelon....so good!! From beginning to end, this was an incredible experience of all my senses! To see and hear them at work and then to taste the delicious sesame sauce on the fresh pulled noodles....WOW! The soft noodles, the crisp bittermelon, and the savory sauce....super delish! Seriously, go early to place your order. The wait is totally worth it :) Will come back next time to try other menu items.

When we went, the menu focused on udon: +Hot Yamakake Udon with Quail Egg (a special) +Cold Yamakake Udon (a special) +Hot Udon +Cold Udon The special udon dishes are servied with tororo (grated mountain yam), housemade tsukudani (seaweed braised in a sweet Japanese sauce), crispy nori, green onions, and an option to add wasabi. We went for both the hot and cold udon specials - I think it was a consensus that we would have liked to have more noodles in the dish. This is definitely a sweeter dish, with the tororo and the tsukudani. The place already had a long line, and the best way to enjoy would be to dine-in. Note that if you do order a carry-out, the quail egg would not be included. +ordering online is available +changing menu of noodle dishes +popup at Fishcake

Young server quickly greeted us and let us sit anywhere. He asked if we've been here before and quickly ran down some specials. I love it when they ask "been here before?" I was set on Black garlic Tonkotsu. Served with thin ramen noods. I love thin noodles and they're not yellow. No need to dye the noodles. I like them as is. Rich broth and crunchy garlic. Their special is carmelized kimchee gyoza and Gochuchang, spicy ramen. Kimchee gyoza wasn't too spicy but spicy ramen is spicy as it should be. Best of all, music playlists were from 90s. Love it even more! My Era! Anyways, comfortable, cute, easy ramen joint in Kaimuki with excellent service. You can park in Kaimuki municipal parking lot.

The flavor of my creamy garlic shoyu ramen was fine. Nothing special, but good enough. However, it was cold (not room-temperature. Cold!) and there was very little of it. "Lazy tax" aside, I could've had a much tastier and more satisfying meal for way less if I had just added some veggies and (very) little meat to a pot of Sapporo noodles prepared at home. I understand times are hard, especially for small businesses, in this economy but pouring more broth would've made a big difference. Even if I had to po it in the microwave myself.

Ambiance: casual Food: a great place to satisfy Szechuan cravings. Would recommend getting their spicy dumplings (so good). Also tried their sweet potato noodles and it was like a more chewy rice noodle. Would also recommend getting their mung bean drink (with free refills) that goes well with their spicy dishes.

Service was excellent. The nice lady checked in on us several times and provided extra napkins and refills. Ambiance: cozy. As with their sister restaurants, scan the qr code and order away. I really liked the variety and being able to order sides or small dishes. The mung bean soup is delicious and served chilled. They do give free refills. This was my first time trying it, and 10/10 would order again. Mini hot and sour wonton: first time trying and won't be my last. 10/10 Beef pancakes were good, slightly different from Mian and Bao, and delicious. Ice Jelly: good cooling dessert. Not too sweet. Perfect finisher for all the spicy food. Pickled sides: I really loved the spicy back fungus. I'm a huge sucker for woodear mushroom so I was also glad I could order a side of it just to toss into my soup! So good! Everything was really good, and I can't wait to try something new as we make our way through their menu.
