What a gem! My family of 6 went to Yohei for my mom's birthday a month ago and were treated to delicious, fresh, authentic Japanese food, including a fabulous sushi bar. The menu boasts a variety of sets, noodle dishes, and an omakase option as well. The space is cozy and fits a surprisingly large amount of patrons. The tables are accessible, which was great for my grandfather and parking easy in an attached lot. We hope it be back for more sushi in the future!

Went to Yohei for their lunch omakase and it was a nice low-key sushi experience. The restaurant has a very traditional Japanese feel nothing flashy, just simple and authentic. The fish tasted fresh and clean, and each piece was nicely prepared. It's the kind of place that feels like a hidden local spot rather than a trendy sushi restaurant. Perfect for a quiet lunch if you're craving a classic omakase without all the hype. Overall 9/10. Solid and satisfying. Would come back again.

I made reservations on OpenTable for Saturday. When we went on Saturday there's a line. Some people had reservations and lucky we had. Parking is kind of tight. Just be aware if you have a big vehicle. It was my husband first time. I've been coming here with my mom. I enjoyed my food. I got the sashimi combo meal. Comes with miso and soba noodles. My spouse got the chirashi meal. And I also order side of seafood tempura. It was delicious. Will I be back. Yes. We will be back. The place is clean and the customer services is great. They kept on refilling our water and tea. Thank you for reading and enjoy eating.

I've been to Yohei many times with my son, friends, and clients. Chef Kawano is exceptional and truly takes care of his regular guests -- he recognizes his customers and makes the experience personal. The servers are friendly and personable, and the atmosphere feels authentic and welcoming. This is a true local Japanese sushi spot where many locals dine regularly. Highly recommended.

Love love love coming to Yohei! It's one of my favorite spots to come with my family to eat and talk story. I normally order their teishoku (which I highly recommend the misoyaki butterfish and unagi teishoku). Anyways, I'm glad I got their tempura-jyu because I was craving tendon! Tempura was really crispy, the sides were really good, I wish they gave more tendon sauce on the side for you to use.. Overall, Always coming back for family meetings! Also, I highly recommend making a reservation on Opentable to secure a seat!

Love supporting local. Especially those businesses who have been adversely affected by the ongoing rail project. Thats not the reason why this business deserves 5 stars. Its because, inspite of it all, Yohei continues to give 5 star service. Happy to see today's lunch time saw this restaurant with just about every table filled. Recommend dining with reservations. And the food? In our party of six persons, everyone ordering something different, everyone was so happy with their choices. My teishoku of sashimi and tempura was ohhh soooo good! Parking is easy and free in the strip mall parking lot. Bonus tip: With the construction going on Dillingham, best approach is from North King Street and then down Kokea Street turning directly into the parking lot.

The food is always so good hear. You can't go wrong with anything you pick. The staff are very friendly and respectful. There is a decent amount of parking in the lot and there is also street parking. I really enjoy going here, so not sure why it took me so long to come back. Alooooooha and happy eating.

Food:5/5 today I ordered the Zara soba with ten don Service:5/5 Always friendly Japanese accommodating service Ambiance: 4/5 casual sushi bar with some tables. Stopped in for lunch without reservations. I guess we got lucky since we were early, like before 12 noon. Latest news is they will be open on Sundays; for lunch and dinner! Yay!

Met up with a friend for lunch here during the week, and even though I've been to this plaza countless times, this was actually my first time dining at Yohei. The food was so delicious and such a great value! Their lunch sets are fantastic, lots of variety, so there's definitely something for everyone. I went with the ahi belly teishoku, which came with soba noodles, rice, miso soup, and pickled veggies. My friend ordered the sushi teishoku with tempura, and both meals were super satisfying. Service was quick and friendly, and the "aunties" working there make you feel right at home. Definitely a spot I'll be back to when I'm visiting again!

With very friendly / helpful staff, great food, and a clean but neighborly feel, Yohei Sushi is one of the best, approachable japanese restaurants in the area. While the outside of the building shows its age, the inside looks fresh and was filled with customers. Hot tea was included for all the adults. Ordered a variety of sets that included udon, sashimi, tempura, and ahi belly katsu. Everything tasted great and used quality ingredients. Balancing an authenticity to its recipes versus a small, neighborhood restaurant feel, Yohei is a must stop for anyone looking for good japanese food that is approachable and family friendly.

The food was delicious! If you like fish I highly recommend the miso black cod! It was so buttery and tender melt in your mouth good. We also got a tempura sashimi set to share. The service was amazing it felt so welcoming and warm. I would definitely recommend this place!

Went in on a Friday nite and enjoyed the omakase $130 with 13/14 different selections of the best fish. Ranging from otoro, snapper, uni, kinmeidai. Very fresh and perfectly seasoned , authentic Japanese sushi! Quaint ambiance with attentive service.

Had dinner here with my boyfriend for a date night and we both really enjoyed it. Food and service were both great! We both ordered teishoku sets so it had a main plus several little sides, miso soup, udon (they allowed my boyfriend to substitute soba) and dessert. I had the nigiri and the rice balls were the perfect size so the fish really stood out. My boyfriend ordered the unagi and he really enjoyed it as well. Unfortunately we weren't sure exactly what all the sides were but they all tasted good. If you really want to know the sides the servers didn't seem to mind answering any questions. The couple next to us were asking about certain sides they had. We also shared the medium tempura set, anago nigiri, and soft shell crab. I personally love soft shell crab and felt that they prepared it really well. Service was also great. Multiple servers would always come by to check on us or refill water/tea. Overall really great dinner and looking forward to try other stuff on the menu one day! Glad they are doing well despite the construction in the area!

I have not seen any vegan dishes, but I'm not looking for it. If I can recommend Tane Vegan Izakaya for vegan sushi and dishes. Even as a non Vegan I thought this place was great for both diets.

They tried to make improvements by renovating the counter which was okay but honestly I liked the other classic look where we could see what kind of fish was available. Despite these changes I was still willing to make this our go to place for sushi. My low rating is because they ruined the place by making it MANDATORY to order the omakase. I don't want to be forced to get the omakase when I know what I like to eat and that's what I want to order. I've been going here for so many years and I am truly disappointed that loyal patronage means nothing to this family owned business. Sho is still awesome and I'm sorry that he has to be subjected to these changes too. He seemed so much happier before they made these so called "improvements ". If they change their policy back to allow people to order Ala carte without mandating the omakase I would return. Not sure if that will ever happen. If customer loyalty means anything to them, perhaps they will. We shall see....

All the fish were from Japan and yes you can taste the difference. The fatty tuna was obviously my favorite but even the regular tuna and the hamachi was so buttery, it just melts in your mouth. Plus, it comes with real wasabi. Not horseradish, real wasabi. For the cooked dishes we got the hokkaido crab tempura with a side of matcha salt. One of the best tempuras I've ever had. Karei is a flat fish and I've never had a fish karaage before, it was perfectly fried and dipped in the ponzu sauce it was so good. Have been flying under the radar on this one and have been enjoying Yakitori Hachibei for many…read moreyears. Its my favorite yakitori place where the grill chef does it right every single time! Flavors are balanced yet full of amazing. Meat skewers of chicken, pork, wagyu A5 beef so tender. The space is intimate yet upscale. It's where I bring out of town guests to for a memorable meal. Love to pregame Hawaii Theatre shows at Hachibei But now that they have announced their impending closure (last day of operations is this coming Sunday). Wanted to get my thoughts of this exceptional establishment down in writing. Thank you to the staff and owners of Yakitori Hachibei for many memorable bites. This fan will miss you. I proudly wear the Duchess crown of Hachibei. Tho, there are still a few more nights of operation. Best wishes in all your future endeavors!

In the last times that we had visited, there was no omakase option (or we didn't get it anyway) but this time we decided to try it. It was nice to try different dishes than we would've selected ourselves and everything tasted great. I believe it was 12 items for $60. The one sad part was that they no longer offered the kuro goma panna cotta that I REALLY wanted one last time. =( It seems like this restaurant is owned by a restaurant group so hoping the dessert pops up at another one of their restaurants one day. Thank you for the great meals Yakitori Hachibei, you'll be missed!
