Nori Bar Happy Hour! Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Stopped in again recently. My sister wanted to try Nori Bar and I wanted to try more things as well. Made reservations for 4:30pm via OpenTable. We were notified that it was Happy Hour until 5pm, perfect! Ordered a bunch of stuff on the Happy Hour Menu: Spicy Dynamite Cake ($18- shared between the 2 of us), Yakitori Chicken Skewers ($3/ea), Sochu Cocktails ($7/ea). I also wanted to try the other hand rolls so I ordered the 4 piece set, my favorite ones are still the blue crab and the spicy ahi. This place is still pricey but the food and drinks are good. I definitely still recommend trying this place. After coming here for happy hour, I can only see myself coming for happy hour and not during regular menu hours because of the price.

My first time at Nori Bar and this spot will be on my must visit rotation when in Honolulu. Located in the Kō'ula Shops, Nori Bar serves quality sushi hand rolls, nigiri, and other japanese dishes. The space is modern, trendy, and bar top seating. Their ordering is fully automated and lightning fast. As always, I highly recommend reservations. This is a popular restaurant and gets busy very quickly. Their main menu has sashimi sets, nigiri sushi, premium rolls, and hand rolls. I ordered the 5 piece sashimi, spicy ahi, 9 piece sashimi trio (, blue crab - truffle kanimiso, and maguro roll from the main menu. And since my visit happen to still be during their happy hour period, I also ordered a toki highball and chicken skewer from that menu. Everything was fresh and delicious! My favorites were the blue crab truffle-kanimiso, spicy ahi, and maguro roll. The chicken skewers were also tasty and worth the order. Their prices are reasonable and they have a great happy hour menu. Service was fast and the QR code ordering system is very convenient. Their happy hour period is from Sunday - Thursday, 2PM-5PM.

This is a very trendy restaurant that is popular but expensive! Be sure to make a reservation as it gets very busy as there are only a few seats as it is a bar counter! Since it was a cold and raining today, I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen for $19. It was good but everything like egg is an "add-on" ! Most places there is automatically an egg in your ramen!! I also ordered the blue crab with.mayonnaise hand roll for $6.50. The Nori was soft and chewy, not crispy or fresh as expected! This place is called the NORI Bar, NOT Acceptable! Plus, ordering online, paying online, why did I tip?

Probably one of my favorite quick eats on the island, but still get quality fish and service. Order on your phone and they make the rolls fast. You can't go wrong with the hand rolls- they all taste good. Rice to filling ratio is perfect the crisp nori always hits the spot. Some of my favorites are the salmon, truffle crab, scallop, and hamachi.

Visited Nori Bar for their bento box for an easy lunch. I got their 5 roll BYO set with Spicy Ahi, Spicy Scallop, Blue Crab, Unagi and a side of Kizami Wasabi. The Kizami Wasabi is a must for us. Everything tasted great and the presentation of the bento was nice as well. Parking isn't an issue with the restaurant with all of the parking structures around the area. Just be aware, it may get crowded around lunch and dinner since there are a lot of other restaurants in the area. The food is great! We usually just take out from here, but definitely want to try their dine-in menu.

Will definitely be back! The food, service, and ambiance were so on point! I had the chirashi bowl that was not only yummy but the price was so reasonable! Was personally impressed by the amount of sashimi provided and the quality of the fish. It even had uni and ikura! I was able to try a bite of 6 different rolls..... all delicious! I would recommend the scallops, spicy tuna, and unagi rolls The staff were all friendly and attentive. The ambiance is very nice! The place has a very modern feel. But, be aware, that there is only bar-like seating. No regular tables. We were lucking that when we went there was no line.

Walked-in on a Friday at 11:30 a.m. and was able to place and receive our takeout order within 20 minutes. Rice was cooked well: tender and flavorful. We will definitely be back!

We ordered takeout from Nori Bar and were a little nervous that the quality and flavor wouldn't compare to dining in--but it was absolutely divine. If it tastes this good to go, I can only imagine how incredible it is in person. We tried the six-roll sampler (crab, hamachi, salmon, scallop, and ahi), along with several hand rolls, a poke bowl, and the 12-piece nigiri set. Every single item was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Highly recommend! I noticed the dine in option is fairly small, so if planning on going, make sure to have a reservation or some time to wait! The inside of the restaurant was clean and modern.

Don't forget my Hokkaido Uni and Ikura! Thanks. A newer made to order hand roll sushi place located in Kaka'ako. Nori Bar is actually a bar! A small place with bar seating only. It can sit about 12 or so. It's located on Auahi St, next to Tonkatsu Kuro, on the further end of the street that's currently a dead end with a couple of condos under construction. Can park in the Whole Foods or Ward Theatres parking structures and walk over. Even though it was bar seating only, there was a good amount of countertop space for food and drinks, and the seats are spaced out well enough where you're not elbowed your neighbor all the time. The feeling and atmosphere was quite comfortable and spacious. I liked the bar was a wrap around. You can see the sushi chef prepare everything and easily interact with everyone. Order via QR code menu by ToastTab. Sometimes this is more convenient, but wow, they have a lot of options on top of sushi and sashimi with bowls, ramen, starters, drinks, desserts, and etc. Definitely needed a minute to decide--cause I wanted to order everything. The Happy Hour Sashimi Set is an excellent choice to try a bit of everything. It consisted of king salmon, ahi tuna, hamachi, ahi tataki, spicy tuna Negitoro, and Hokkaido uni and ikura. The quality of the sashimi was acceptable--a bit less than what I expected. Ahi tataki was fresh and good, but needed a sauce as it felt dry. The sushi was awesome. This was the best item in the set! Nice prepared and seasoned. The Uni and ikura was missing when it first arrived. Kinda weird to serve a small bowl with only one Shiso leaf lol? They were good! The Hamachi Carpaccio was very good. Fresh, buttery hamachi with nice sweet, soy sauce. I liked the addition of the thinly sliced jalapeño and leaf of cilantro that added a touch of spice and herbaceousness. The mini pork belly udon was good. Simple, clean broth with a nice, fatty piece of pork belly with wood ear and Choy sum. The Wagyu hand roll was okay. Wagyu could've been torched longer and needed some salt. Hokkaido Scallop hand roll was good. Fresh, sweet scallops, but the sauce was too light. The Umami Mushroom hand roll was very good. Earthy and tasty mushrooms. The King Salmon Carpaccio was excellent. Slightly torched, topped with a tasty chili sauce with fried garlic plus the raw onion slices below it made it a delectable bite. Overall, it was a good experience. Nicely prepared food and rice. Crispy nori. Quality seafood. Beautifully presented. Excellent service. Friendly, informative, and attentive. Acceptable prices. Comfortable and intimate atmosphere. Will definitely come back to try more things!

Got their lunch special chirashi bowl and truffle poke bowl which were both soo tasty! Chirashi bowl came with a lot of pieces of fish and a good variety. Truffle poke bowl was so good too. Each came with miso soup. We also got a hamachi roll which was very good and love that the nori was fresh and crunchy. Small interior with only bar seating so I would only recommend small parties.

5 Roll Box Set: Spicy Ahi, Spicy Hokkaido Scallop, Blue Crab (2) and Yuzu Kosho Scallop
    Alyssa Y.

Nori Bar offers great quality sushi and dining experience for people who want to dine in as well as take out. Located in Ward, the restaurant is right next to Tonkatsu Kuro and parking can be found in one of the many parking structures in Ward. Our office decided to get lunch from here and we ordered their Box Sets To-Go. I was so impressed with the packaging for their take out boxes which included a small dish to pour your wasabi and soy sauce into. I ordered their 5 Roll Box Set and chose 1 Spicy Ahi, 1 Spicy Hokkaido Scallop, 2 Blue Crab and 1 Yuzu Kosho Scallop. While it didn't look like a lot of food, it was quite filling and the seafood was so fresh and delicious. I'm definitely coming back and will try dining in next time!

I decided to finally go out of my usual choices and try Ginza out. Ginza is located in the main ward building (the one with the theater), on the side, between Men's Warehouse and L&L. We got seated fairly quickly and was given water. Upon ordering we were also given edamame to nom on while we waited. We also decided to order two rolls, an AAB combo set to try a variety of things and fried calamari for food measure. We got: * Jen's Paradise: 9.7/10, heavily recommend. I was really craving sear salmon and it definitely helped to satisfy that craving. I didn't realize that the roll part itself ONLY has shrimp tempura within the nori (no crab salad, avo, etc). * Bomb: 8/10, clearly I lacked my reading comprehension skills this day because I didn't realize that this was baked... so when it came out and the entire roll was fully cooked I was heart broken. It tasted good, just not what I particular want at a sushi restaurant. * Chicken Karaage: 5/10. I do NOT recommend this. They remined me of mochiko chicken, but these were not very meaty or flavorful. * Fried Calamari: 10/10, fried to perfectly in my opinion, each piece was plump and delicious. * Miso Butterfish: 8.9/10, it was good, flaky and flavorful. Just not something I would order again, but it was good to try esp it is something they're supposedly known for. * Mixed Tempura: 10/10, yum I love mixed tempura, no notes, it was hot and crunchy. I would like to mention that our wait was quite long. I don't know why because they weren't like SUPER busy. It took 10-15 for us to get the miso soup and salad for the combo. +5 for the calamari, +5 for the first roll then a few minutes after for the rest. I feel like 15-20 minutes for our first actual item (calamari) to come is kind of crazy, it kept being brought to the wrong table (2-3 times). Our server apologized so its not a huge deal. Otherwise, I still enjoyed our experience. I would definitely come back again to try the rolls I would enjoy more (utilizing my reading skills a bit better LOL).

From the outside, it is a hole-in-the-wall, but don't let that fool you. This is by far the best sushi spot on Oʻahu. It is on the pricier side, but the quality and freshness make it well worth it. There is something deeply confusing about Mitch's Fish Market & Sushi Bar…read more Not bad confusing.Worse. Identity-crisis confusing. Because the fish?Excellent. Cold, clean, glistening with that dangerous little shimmer that tells you somebody in the supply chain actually cared. You can taste the quality immediately. The kind of quality that silences a table for half a second. And credit where it is due: almost everything I tried ranged from very good to genuinely great. But then the room begins speaking. And suddenly the spell breaks. The atmosphere feels like someone took a serious sushi counter, stripped away all sensuality, all elegance, all ritual, then dropped it inside a fluorescent island diner where exhausted civilians came to discuss parking validation and Costco receipts. It is the culinary equivalent of wearing a Rolex with orthopedic sneakers. The contradiction never stops humming beneath the experience. You sit there eating beautiful fish while surrounded by an energy that feels strangely... transactional. Heavy. Casual in the least flattering way. A room with no mystery. No seduction. No gravity. Like Zippy's accidentally wandered into the tuna trade and struck gold. And on an island like Oahu, where atmosphere matters almost as much as the fish itself that becomes a real problem. Because sushi is not merely consumption. It is theater.Restraint.Texture.Whispered precision. The best sushi spots on Oahu understand this instinctively. They understand that exceptional fish alone is not enough. You are paying for transportive experience. For mood. For elegance. For the feeling that the evening exists slightly outside ordinary life. At Mitch's, the fish reaches for Tokyo while the room drags you back toward a tired strip mall off the freeway. And then there's the crowd. Not evil people. Not rude people. Just an oddly low-rent energy orbiting genuinely premium seafood. The kind of room where one table is eating remarkable otoro while another feels one argument away from discussing used-car financing over soy sauce packets. It creates dissonance. Especially considering the prices. Because at those prices, you begin comparing the full experience not merely the fish quality and that is where Mitch's stumbles hard. There are multiple sushi spots across Oahu that equal or surpass the seafood while also delivering beauty, atmosphere, intimacy, and actual emotional texture. So what remains is this strange contradiction: Mitch's serves fish far above the dignity of its own ambience Which almost makes it fascinating. Would I be back - no . You can get same and better quality fish, much better vine, better part of town for the same Price.
