The uni hand roll was melting like butter The hamachi Kama was fatty, freshly grilled (took 20 minutes) and has lots of meat. The chicken thigh screwed was soft, grilled to perfection. This place is so cute. They're playing vibey house music. They give you a QR code to scan to order. We got the tonkotsu ramen, spicy dynamite cake, pork gyoza. All of the seating is at the bar. It's very inimate. I loved the miso, it was very rich. The gyoza was delicious though I wish it came with a side of sauce. The tonkotsu ramen was probably my least favorite. I stopped in on a Monday evening for a solo dinner at the bar, primarily to enjoy happy hour. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of what I expected. The happy hour offerings were fairly limited, with only a few beer options and a $10 cocktail special. I ordered edamame and miso soup, but both were forgotten. I had to follow up on my order, but then I suppose he only heard me request the miso soup, so never received the edamame. I ultimately had to ask for it to be removed from my tab. Unfortunately, I also noticed a small cockroach inside the restaurant on the sushi bar/bar area. That was the point at which I decided to leave. I understand that service can occasionally be imperfect, but the combination of the slow attention, missed orders, limited happy hour selection, and cleanliness concern made for a disappointing visit. I had Nori bar bookmarked for a little while, and finally had the chance to try it out with my daughter for a late lunch. We made reservations at 2:30 PM and we're here for happy hour. We ordered the deluxe platter, spicy dynamite cake, and chicken skewers. The food was so good! The deluxe platter had a combination of spicy Ahi rolls and some sashimi. Spicy dynamite cake was not too spicy, but had layers of rice, avocado, and spicy Ahi with sauce, and Nori wrappers on the side. Chicken skewers you can order them individually, in a set of three or five and we opted for three. Service was very friendly and attentive. We finished everything. The three items we ordered the cost was $60, adding tip and tax was around $75. The restaurant is very small. Seating only at the bar hence in the restaurant name. First time here after seeing some other yelp friends post their reviews over the past year or so. Overall experience I'd say was good. The Friday we went was the day of the heavy thunderstorm so a coworker had to bow out leaving just two of us. The storm must've made others skip going out also because there were only two other people dining. Everything we ordered was fresh with my favorites being the Pork cheek Cher siu nigiri and the Uni handroll. The Unagi handroll and Maguro w/creamy avocado handroll were both good as well. Joe really liked the Blue crab w/truffke kanimiso handroll as well. Other things we got were: Nigiri flight (5 piece sampler of there premium nigiri,) various nigiri...Aji, Kampachi, Tai, and Hamachi. The sampler was a good starting point while the others were ok. Service was attentive and friendly, waters refilled often. I'm kinda on the fence about the QR code ordering system, it was convenient to be able to order when you wanted and not having to wait for a server to come by but I did miss the interaction with the servers when ordering. A rainy night changed our party from 3 to 2 last minute. No worries ...2 at a sushi bar is much more manageable for conversation. 2 was also better for ordering nigiri which all came in pairs. Segue: the menu is available at your seat... specifically tied to your seat. You order directly from your QR link and you run a tab as you go along. Most of what we ordered was shared. You'll definitely need reservations (Open Table) but with tablet ordering and a choice to be served piece by piece or all at once, you actually could be in and out pretty quickly. I've been wanting to try this out for a while, and came right before 2 PM. It was empty and so I didn't have to experience a wait which many people do. I had the spicy salmon, hamachi, natto with shiso, and the cold tofu. Pass on the cold tofu - didn't look like the picture and was very basic.. The spicy salmon was my favorite. It can sit about 12 or so. It's located on Auahi St, next to Tonkatsu Kuro, on the further end of the street that's currently a dead end with a couple of condos under construction. Can park in the Whole Foods or Ward Theatres parking structures and walk over. Even though it was bar seating only, there was a good amount of countertop space for food and drinks, and the seats are spaced out well enough where you're not elbowed your neighbor all the time. The feeling and atmosphere was quite comfortable and spacious. I liked the bar was a wrap around. You can see the sushi chef prepare everything and easily interact with everyone. Order via QR code menu by ToastTab. Sometimes this is more convenient, but wow, they have a lot of options on top of sushi and sashimi with bowls, ramen, starters, drinks, desserts, and etc. Definitely needed a minute to decide--cause I wanted to order everything. Earthy and tasty mushrooms. The King Salmon Carpaccio was excellent. Slightly torched, topped with a tasty chili sauce with fried garlic plus the raw onion slices below it made it a delectable bite. Came here during lunch time (post 1 PM, so probably after the rush). We were seated right away and it looked like there were 4 groups in there. The host was so friendly and brought out our waters and edamame right away. There isn't a bathroom located in the restaurant, it'll be on the corner where Dean & Deluca is. I'm trying to watch my cholesterol, but the fact that I licked the bowl clean is a testament to how good it was.
