This place always seems to have my playlist bumping (late 90s remixed with modern jams). The open concept high top bar is inviting and still feels cozy. The food is always on point and a little pricey but always fresh and vibrant. The menu is a QR code and service is quick. The food is prepared right in front of you and served on a black plate. My favorite hand roll is the Blue Crab Hand roll and hamachi carpaccio is one of my favorite appetizers. Will be back to try more flavors from here.
I love the concept where you can scan your order and pay for your own meal even when you come with a group. This way we dont have to worry about splitting the bill and still enjoy the company with your friends and family. Came in last month with my sister's and everything we ordered was so delicious! From Oyster shooters, to sashimis, to dynamite bowls, yakitoris and hand rolls! Everything was perfect and fresh! It was around 11am when we just arrived and they just opened. We were so hungry! We didn't have a reservation but the server was able to take us in and seated us as long as we were done within the hour. We appreciated that. We also appreciated that some bowls came with sides and miso soup! We left very satisfied, we will definitely be back!
This place is so cute. They're playing vibey house music. They give you a QR code to scan to order. We got the tonkotsu ramen, spicy dynamite cake, pork gyoza. All of the seating is at the bar. It's very inimate. I loved the miso, it was very rich. The gyoza was delicious though I wish it came with a side of sauce. The tonkotsu ramen was probably my least favorite. Nothing too specifically wrong with it but it just lacked uniqueness. My favorite was the spicy dynamite cake, it was light and delightful and it came with seaweed papers so you could make your own wraps. I've never seen anything like this before. It was so cool and so yummy. The sauce wasn't too overbearing too which was really nice.

Great fish and good service at this little hot spot! I've been to similar concept handroll bars in California and liked this one just as much. The menu is diverse with easy QR menus and toast platform . And for us ladies (or anyone who comes straight off a shopping spree) there are hooks underneath for your bag/purse!! I love it when a bar has these! You def need a reservation. The make and serve the food quickly and it all tastes great! The sashimi was fresh and tender and the cukes are nicely marinated but the customizable hand rolls are the stars here. I love that you can adjust the amount of rice. Note that you are charged for every additional item you want added to your rolls - cucumbers, avo mousse, etc. See pics
My coworkers and I used the DoorDash app to get lunch from Nori Bar. We all got the 4 roll set where we got to pick each of our rolls and if we wanted any other extra sauces. We kept raving about the packaging and how they were so cute! The fish we got was so fresh and was also surprised to see edamame I forgot what rolls my coworkers chose but they all loved it! For reference, I got Maguro, Unagi, Spicy Ahi, and Hamachi as my choices I was also surprised at how quick our order arrived
I had Nori bar bookmarked for a little while, and finally had the chance to try it out with my daughter for a late lunch. We made reservations at 2:30 PM and we're here for happy hour. We ordered the deluxe platter, spicy dynamite cake, and chicken skewers. The food was so good! The deluxe platter had a combination of spicy Ahi rolls and some sashimi. Spicy dynamite cake was not too spicy, but had layers of rice, avocado, and spicy Ahi with sauce, and Nori wrappers on the side. Chicken skewers you can order them individually, in a set of three or five and we opted for three. Service was very friendly and attentive. We finished everything. The three items we ordered the cost was $60, adding tip and tax was around $75. The restaurant is very small. Seating only at the bar hence in the restaurant name. Definitely would like to come back and try some of the other options.
Went for a light lunch before running errands nearby. It's a casual nori bar but you need reservations due to limited seating. Everything we had was pretty solid and in line with its price point. The rice and filling were balanced and cucumber salad was refreshing. Would come again! Parking is available in the theatre garage.
First time here after seeing some other yelp friends post their reviews over the past year or so. Overall experience I'd say was good. The Friday we went was the day of the heavy thunderstorm so a coworker had to bow out leaving just two of us. The storm must've made others skip going out also because there were only two other people dining. Everything we ordered was fresh with my favorites being the Pork cheek Cher siu nigiri and the Uni handroll. The Unagi handroll and Maguro w/creamy avocado handroll were both good as well. Joe really liked the Blue crab w/truffke kanimiso handroll as well. Other things we got were: Nigiri flight (5 piece sampler of there premium nigiri,) various nigiri...Aji, Kampachi, Tai, and Hamachi. The sampler was a good starting point while the others were ok. Service was attentive and friendly, waters refilled often. I'm kinda on the fence about the QR code ordering system, it was convenient to be able to order when you wanted and not having to wait for a server to come by but I did miss the interaction with the servers when ordering. It was a good experience, I'm always open to trying sushi places I haven't been to and some if the take out roll sets looked interesting, something I'd be back to try.
A rainy night changed our party from 3 to 2 last minute. No worries ...2 at a sushi bar is much more manageable for conversation. 2 was also better for ordering nigiri which all came in pairs. Segue: the menu is available at your seat... specifically tied to your seat. You order directly from your QR link and you run a tab as you go along. Most of what we ordered was shared. So the separate ordering and tab thing might have been weird...but we figured it out. Getting back to the rainy night...the place was empty. That meant as we ordered things were served almost immediately. Plus side: no waiting. Down side: Also no waiting - everything served at once. The nigiri (we had flights plus additional plates), sashimi, and hand rolls were all very fresh and tasty...SUPER FRESH UNI! We also did a flight of 6 sakes (in super cute cups with koi on the bottom). Food was a 5. Ambiance 4.5 (kind of an awkward entry way with take out boxes pilled high). Service just plain weird and awkward...nary a word spoken to us...although they fawned all over the woman sitting next to me that refused to order in the app...hard to rate but it left me feeling the place is more 4 than 5.
A favorite spot for a pleasant but quick dining experience. You'll definitely need reservations (Open Table) but with tablet ordering and a choice to be served piece by piece or all at once, you actually could be in and out pretty quickly. I'm not sure when they added ramen but my neighbor's bowl looked pretty solid. A few other menu tweaks and additions since they opened and a nice technology improvement which now allows you to order the sushi temaki sets through the app. Something for everyone here now. Free parking in all the nearby structures. I kinda love coming to this spot and this micro-neighborhood within the new Kakaako.

But when we went back the second time, it was only ok. Hamachi tataki was not as plump as the first one. We didn't order yakitori the second time and the sushi not as juicy like the first one. Service were good both time. And ambiance was nice, upscale casual.
The most fresh sushi and sashimi, literally melts in your mouth. The hamachi kama is so delicious and the ahi carpaccio is to die for. I suggest making a reservation since it is just one counter, no tables. Things can add up if you want to try everything, like me! So if money is no object, order up. Otherwise the happy hour starts at 2p, but I'd recommend double checking. Easy parking next door at Whole foods too. Cute inside, this nice small but comfy sushi bar is a must try.
Second time being here, the food and service are consistently good. We ordered mostly hand rolls and the quality is just impeccable. My favorites are : Oyster shooter with Sake Unagi roll, Blue crab roll (no truffles) Spicy tuna roll and of course: The chicken thigh skewers. I can't wait to come back! read more

I ordered take out for the first time here and got to select 4 different rolls. I got the blue crab, hamachi, yuzu scallop, and salmon. The blue crab was so tasty! All the fish and scallop were very fresh. The yuzu scallop is actually just scallop with yuzu kosho, so it's actually a little spicy. I had to pay extra for the truffle ponzu $2! Was it good yeah, is it worth it no. I ordered on Uber Eats so I wonder if it's cheaper in store. Overall, excellent taste and I would definitely eat it again. There wasn't too much rice either. I'd say more fish than rice a nice ratio. read more

Got the sashimi special (salmon, ahi, amberjack) and it was super high quality and delicious. Heads up, their nigiri rice is pre-made with soy/gluten in the vinegar, so ask about allergies. Staff is super kind and helpful though. read more

Absolutely love, love, love it here. Nori Bar has such a chill, intimate vibe--it feels like a little hidden escape. The ambiance is cozy and low-key, perfect for a relaxed night out. That said, it's definitely best for small groups. I wouldn't recommend going with more than three people since seating is at the bar--honestly, two is ideal for the full experience. Service is smooth and efficient, with most of the ordering done through their app, which makes everything feel seamless and easy. Every roll we tried was solid, but the crab and truffle hand roll completely stole the show. It was so good I'm still thinking about it. The balance is perfect--the sweetness of the crab with the richness of the truffle--and they don't hold back on the truffle. It's not just a hint; it's bold, present, and absolutely delicious. Sleek, clean, and crisp. Nori was super crispy. Sushi was super fresh. Decor was super dope. We just didn't feel super welcomed. The hosts weren't as friendly as I would hope and our sushi chef was polite but not super engaging. Nonetheless, I was impressed by their vegan menu and it was so good! read more
Nori Bar Happy Hour! Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Stopped in again recently. My sister wanted to try Nori Bar and I wanted to try more things as well. Made reservations for 4:30pm via OpenTable. We were notified that it was Happy Hour until 5pm, perfect! Ordered a bunch of stuff on the Happy Hour Menu: Spicy Dynamite Cake ($18- shared between the 2 of us), Yakitori Chicken Skewers ($3/ea), Sochu Cocktails ($7/ea). I also wanted to try the other hand rolls so I ordered the 4 piece set, my favorite ones are still the blue crab and the spicy ahi. This place is still pricey but the food and drinks are good. I definitely still recommend trying this place. After coming here for happy hour, I can only see myself coming for happy hour and not during regular menu hours because of the price. read more
My first time at Nori Bar and this spot will be on my must visit rotation when in Honolulu. Located in the Kō'ula Shops, Nori Bar serves quality sushi hand rolls, nigiri, and other japanese dishes. The space is modern, trendy, and bar top seating. Their ordering is fully automated and lightning fast. As always, I highly recommend reservations. This is a popular restaurant and gets busy very quickly. Their main menu has sashimi sets, nigiri sushi, premium rolls, and hand rolls. I ordered the 5 piece sashimi, spicy ahi, 9 piece sashimi trio (, blue crab - truffle kanimiso, and maguro roll from the main menu. And since my visit happen to still be during their happy hour period, I also ordered a toki highball and chicken skewer from that menu. Everything was fresh and delicious! My favorites were the blue crab truffle-kanimiso, spicy ahi, and maguro roll. The chicken skewers were also tasty and worth the order. Their prices are reasonable and they have a great happy hour menu. Service was fast and the QR code ordering system is very convenient. Their happy hour period is from Sunday - Thursday, 2PM-5PM. read more
This is a very trendy restaurant that is popular but expensive! Be sure to make a reservation as it gets very busy as there are only a few seats as it is a bar counter! Since it was a cold and raining today, I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen for $19. It was good but everything like egg is an "add-on" ! Most places there is automatically an egg in your ramen!! Love going here and was so excited to see they had lunch specials! I normally only save Nori bar for elevated dinning experiences or special occasions due to the price and portion size, but to my surprise they had a very reasonable lunch menu. We loved the spicy dynamite bowl it was a filling portion and tried the blue crab truffle hand roll which was incredible. The service was quick and friendly. They have QR codes for you to have no contact ordering but the staff is there to help. It's so fun to watch the chef prepare your hand rolls right in front of you! Visited Nori Bar for their bento box for an easy lunch. I got their 5 roll BYO set with Spicy Ahi, Spicy Scallop, Blue Crab, Unagi and a side of Kizami Wasabi. The Kizami Wasabi is a must for us. Everything tasted great and the presentation of the bento was nice as well. Parking isn't an issue with the restaurant with all of the parking structures around the area. Just be aware, it may get crowded around lunch and dinner since there are a lot of other restaurants in the area. The food is great! We usually just take out from here, but definitely want to try their dine-in menu. read more
Don't forget my Hokkaido Uni and Ikura! Thanks. A newer made to order hand roll sushi place located in Kaka'ako. Nori Bar is actually a bar! A small place with bar seating only. It can sit about 12 or so. It's located on Auahi St, next to Tonkatsu Kuro, on the further end of the street that's currently a dead end with a couple of condos under construction. Can park in the Whole Foods or Ward Theatres parking structures and walk over. Even though it was bar seating only, there was a good amount of countertop space for food and drinks, and the seats are spaced out well enough where you're not elbowed your neighbor all the time. The feeling and atmosphere was quite comfortable and spacious. I liked the bar was a wrap around. You can see the sushi chef prepare everything and easily interact with everyone. Order via QR code menu by ToastTab. Sometimes this is more convenient, but wow, they have a lot of options on top of sushi and sashimi with bowls, ramen, starters, drinks, desserts, and etc. Definitely needed a minute to decide--cause I wanted to order everything. The Happy Hour Sashimi Set is an excellent choice to try a bit of everything. It consisted of king salmon, ahi tuna, hamachi, ahi tataki, spicy tuna Negitoro, and Hokkaido uni and ikura. The quality of the sashimi was acceptable--a bit less than what I expected. Ahi tataki was fresh and good, but needed a sauce as it felt dry. The sushi was awesome. This was the best item in the set! Nice prepared and seasoned. The Uni and ikura was missing when it first arrived. Kinda weird to serve a small bowl with only one Shiso leaf lol? They were good! The Hamachi Carpaccio was very good. Fresh, buttery hamachi with nice sweet, soy sauce. I liked the addition of the thinly sliced jalapeño and leaf of cilantro that added a touch of spice and herbaceousness. The mini pork belly udon was good. Simple, clean broth with a nice, fatty piece of pork belly with wood ear and Choy sum. The Wagyu hand roll was okay. Wagyu could've been torched longer and needed some salt. Hokkaido Scallop hand roll was good. Fresh, sweet scallops, but the sauce was too light. The Umami Mushroom hand roll was very good. Earthy and tasty mushrooms. The King Salmon Carpaccio was excellent. Slightly torched, topped with a tasty chili sauce with fried garlic plus the raw onion slices below it made it a delectable bite. Overall, it was a good experience. Nicely prepared food and rice. Crispy nori. Quality seafood. Beautifully presented. Excellent service. Friendly, informative, and attentive. Acceptable prices. Comfortable and intimate atmosphere. Will definitely come back to try more things! read more
Will definitely be back! The food, service, and ambiance were so on point! I had the chirashi bowl that was not only yummy but the price was so reasonable! Was personally impressed by the amount of sashimi provided and the quality of the fish. It even had uni and ikura! I was able to try a bite of 6 different rolls..... all delicious! I would recommend the scallops, spicy tuna, and unagi rolls The staff were all friendly and attentive. The ambiance is very nice! The place has a very modern feel. But, be aware, that there is only bar-like seating. No regular tables. We were lucking that when we went there was no line. read more

We ordered takeout from Nori Bar and were a little nervous that the quality and flavor wouldn't compare to dining in--but it was absolutely divine. If it tastes this good to go, I can only imagine how incredible it is in person. We tried the six-roll sampler (crab, hamachi, salmon, scallop, and ahi), along with several hand rolls, a poke bowl, and the 12-piece nigiri set. Every single item was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Highly recommend! I noticed the dine in option is fairly small, so if planning on going, make sure to have a reservation or some time to wait! The inside of the restaurant was clean and modern. read more

Nori Bar offers great quality sushi and dining experience for people who want to dine in as well as take out. Located in Ward, the restaurant is right next to Tonkatsu Kuro and parking can be found in one of the many parking structures in Ward. Our office decided to get lunch from here and we ordered their Box Sets To-Go. I was so impressed with the packaging for their take out boxes which included a small dish to pour your wasabi and soy sauce into. I ordered their 5 Roll Box Set and chose 1 Spicy Ahi, 1 Spicy Hokkaido Scallop, 2 Blue Crab and 1 Yuzu Kosho Scallop. While it didn't look like a lot of food, it was quite filling and the seafood was so fresh and delicious. I'm definitely coming back and will try dining in next time! read more
The sushi roll sampler platter for takeout looks amazing!! And it tasted pretty good. Its a lot for one person so I shared it. Next time Ill try dine in, but the line is kind of long. Came here during lunch time (post 1 PM, so probably after the rush). We were seated right away and it looked like there were 4 groups in there. The host was so friendly and brought out our waters and edamame right away. There isn't a bathroom located in the restaurant, it'll be on the corner where Dean & Deluca is. If you'll want to use the restroom, you'll have to ask the staff at Nori to provide you the code. You'll have to scan for the menu but the drink menu is provided on the table. We knew what we wanted and ordered a set of the 4 hand roll and a set of the 6 handroll. The hand rolls were pretty big and filled with amazing fish and seafood and so we had a few leftover which we boxed up and took back. You're able to combine checks at the end, just let the staff know! I can see why this place is popular and would come again for quick eats! read more
I ordered the 5-roll build-your-own set from Nori Bar Hawaii we got blue crab, 2x spicy ahi, ume shiso cucumber, and tamago. Everything came so fresh and beautifully packed! My son loves it so much, he couldn't stop eating! The rolls were super tasty and the presentation was adorable with the "Let the good times roll" box. Probably one of my favorite quick eats on the island, but still get quality fish and service. Order on your phone and they make the rolls fast. You can't go wrong with the hand rolls- they all taste good. Rice to filling ratio is perfect the crisp nori always hits the spot. Some of my favorites are the salmon, truffle crab, scallop, and hamachi. read more

Do they know longer offer the Japanese breakfast? It looks like previously they were offering breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, at 8 AM.
Is there any way for me to just buy a bunch of truffle ponzu?
I'm sure you can just call and ask. I ordered it but the dish so I'm thinking you can get some containers but they won't be a lot.
Is there Happy hour?
They advertise a happy hour at the restaurant but it's not found on their website. It's Sun-Thur 2-5pm and has a nice, diverse selection of food and drinks.;)
