I recently ordered from Hou Fish Market and had a fantastic experience! I tried the Aloha Platter and the Sashimi Salad Platter, and both were absolutely fresh and flavorful. The sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth quality, and the variety in the Aloha Platter made it perfect for sharing. The online ordering system was simple and intuitive, making the process stress-free. Pickup was quick, and the staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience. If you're looking for fresh seafood with great service, Hou Fish Market is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend both platters!

I had a late lunch with my hubby here this past Wednesday. I got the chirashi bowl $22.95 and he got the teriyaki chicken bowl $16.95. We also shared a brown sugar milk tea $6.95. The chirashi bowl was great. The fish was firm and fresh. The fish slices were thick. They had sushi rice instead of just white rice. It came with three slices each of hamachi, ahi and salmon. It had two slices of egg and squid and a piece of shrimp. It was topped with ikura. I didn't try the teriyaki chicken bowl, but it was on the smaller side for the price. The brown sugar milk tea was also very good. It was creamy, refreshing and not overly sweet. I will definitely be back for another chirashi bowl.

Had the spicy ahi poke bowl with sushi rice. The ahi was fresh and cut nicely, with a mild spicy kick that wasn't overpowering. Sushi rice was warm and decently seasoned, which paired well with the fish. Portion was filling and everything tasted fresh. Nothing over the top, but solid and reliable if you're in the mood for a simple poke bowl. I'd order it again.

Takeout lunch from Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend and I needed lunch before a movie. We chose Hou Fish Market because it was relatively close to the Consolidated Ward Theater and had free parking in the Self Storage lot around the corner. Service was efficient and polite. We decided to take our food to go instead of dining in (there's outdoor and indoor seating) because we had some time to go somewhere else for bubble tea. We were the only customers on a Sunday afternoon! I ordered the Aloha Bowl. Everything tasted fresh and looked colorfully beautiful! The ahi, salmon, avocado, crab salad, ginger, and seaweed salad were all tasty. I didn't need to use shoyu because the sushi rice was seasoned well! I would return!

Big fan of seared salmon bowls...I was actually in the area running errands at South Shore Market place. I was craving a seared salmon bowl and was looking forward to going to Ocean's Taste but they were closed. Looked on Yelp for the next best thing and found this place! I have been to the location in Waipahu and I will say this location is equally as awesome despite the smaller space. I dined it and ordered the seared salmon bowl, which was amazing. I was the only person inside but there were a handful of people coming in to pick up their takeout order or placing an order while I was eating. I parked in the Self-Storage parking lot behind the building (orange roofs) and then walked around the corner to Hou Fish Market. This place is a bit $$ but worth it. I would come again!

Rating: Our vendor had catered lunch for us by them yesterday and they absolutely crushed it! The vendor ordered 4 large sushi platters and everyone was impressed. The variety was excellent and the presentation was beautiful--you could tell right away that the fish was incredibly fresh. The taste was spot on and exactly what we were looking for. It's great knowing they have convenient locations in both town and Waipahu. This is definitely going to be our go-to spot for future catering. Highly recommend if you need fresh, high-quality sushi for a group!

There is plenty parking in the back. Love that they have online ordering. We got the Kapiolani platter. The torched garlic ahi and salmon nigiri was the best thing in the platter. I wish there was more. Sushi tasted good. My husband wished there was more spicy ahi on the California rolls. Will be back to try the bowls!

Food: I had a sukiyaki bowl with a tuna roll costing a little over $20. I left satisfied having room for dessert but not at all starving feeling hungry. Flavors were as expected for the items I got. Service & Ambiance: Service was fine. I called ahead the day before because I was concerned about seating, and when I arrived the staff had already set up a table based on my request, which I appreciated. Inside seating is limited, with about 10-12 seats total, while the outside has around three tables with 2-4 chairs each. Ordering and payment is done at the counter, but they will deliver the food to you at your table. Water cups were provided upon request with our order, though the cups are small and there's no self-serve water station. Tables are self-cleanup it seemed, and all food is served in disposable containers. Overall, this place feels more geared toward grab-and-go rather than a full dine-in experience.

Tried this poke bowl place for the first time today after my work meeting. We picked up a mix salmon deluxe bowl and the dragon roll. This place was pretty popular for takeout because as I was deciding on what to get, 2 people came in to pick up their food. After I finallllyyy decided on what to get, we waited for a short while and the food was ready. We took it back to the office to eat while we continued working and it was the perfect lunch work meal. My poke bowl was fresh and had a generous amount of shoyu ahi poke, crab salad, cucumbers, avocado, and salmon. The poke was lightly seasoned with shoyu and didn't overpower the other items in the bowl. Surprisingly, I liked the crab salad too. There are plenty of open tables for people to dine in and normally, we would have if we didn't have to work. The staff was friendly and patient with me while I was deciding on what to order too.

I've been wanting to check this place out since they opened as they were located right across my alma mater. I finally made my way with Emily R. when I was visiting Hawaii. It's located in the building where the Public Storage and AT&T reside across of McKinley High School on Kapiolani Blvd in Ward. There's a parking lot with ample stalls in the back of the building on Kamakee St. There's a small dining area in the shop where they'll serve you. It was kind of confusing as it seemed like a takeout spot and sit anywhere that's open. Not too sure. But Emily and I were both served by one of the workers. I got their Seared Salmon Bowl with Crab Salad (extra $2), and the portions were beautifully assembled and huge (peep at pics)! What a deal for the amount of food we got, I would say! I don't think the fish was the freshest but still very good as the seared mayo with the unagi sauce added soooo much flavor, YUM! The crab salad wasn't overly mayo-y either, giving the perfect balance to the heavy unagi flavor. It was quite good that I came back another time during the another trip to get it again because I was craving it! It also helped that they opened quite early as well. Overall, a great place for a decent priced sushi, sushi platters, and kaisendons/specialty bowls. Would love to come back to try their spicy ahi bowl in the future. There are a lot of competitions around the area so it's definitely based on preference!

Tucked away on the maki side of Kapiolani Blvd and Kamakee St this sushi restaurant has small indoor seating area and slightly larger outdoor eating area. Geared more towards takeout orders the selection is quite extensive with reasonable pricing although it does add up quickly when you are Ono for some fresh sushi. Service is speed is reasonable for the limited amount of staff available during our visit on a Sunday evening. The sushi dishes tasted fresh, although at the prices I'm sure it's previously frozen Ahi, a good selection from regular sushi, rolls and bowls are available. Only soda and some smoothies milk teas with or without boba are available, if you want any alcoholic beverages you'll need to BYOB. Friendly service, great selection, and reasonable prices to satisfy that sushi food fix I would recommend this location especially prior to any events being held at the Blaisdell just across the road.

The poke bowls at Hou Fish Market are very good. They are made to order using fresh Fish. I like it here, not only for the selection, but because there is inside and outside seating, free parking behind the storage facility and a dog menu! I didn't have my dog taste test it, so she can't give it a review. Maybe next time. Along with the usual poke bowls, there are platters, udon, and salads. And, there are lots of drinks... milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies.

Hou Fish Market is a great spot to grab a quick, fresh bite of fish. To me, it's similar quality to Domo Cafe but they have more variety plus the seared salmon bowls that I love. I placed an online order and it was ready in 15 minutes tops. I love that they're open on the later side which is rare for a poke place. I got the seared salmon bowl, which comes with a generous portion of salmon and their addictive garlic mayo, seared just right. There's seating inside plus a variety of Asian snacks and drinks to supplement your meal. I will definitely keep coming back here! Next time I need to try their milk tea, I've been meaning to try it and saw that they offer a combo deal with a spicy ahi bowl.

TL;DR Fantastic…read morepoke. Manoa represent!!! ----- Off the Hook Poke lives up to the hype. There's a constant line out the door filled with locals and tourists alike. And for good reason. Off the Hook delivers consistent, high-quality poke bowls (trays?) in the heart of beautiful Manoa Valley. I've been coming to Off the Hook since it opened way back in 2018. While the prices have steadily increased, the delicious poke has remained the same. For poke bowls, you have several options to consider: 1) Mini or regular size 2) Rice option (white, brown, sushi, or green salad) 3) One or two choices of poke At this point I've tried almost every one of their poke offerings, and they are all fantastic. You cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. However, I'd say 95% of the time I stick with the Cold Ginger Ahi and the Spicy Ahi. These are guaranteed hits. I also really like the Wasabi Furikake Ahi. Lastly, makes sure you load up on their free toppings! Masago, tempura flakes, and scallions. Yummmy!

Off the Hook advertises auction-fresh ahi, which distinguishes it from other poke joints that use previously frozen fish. Since I was a first-timer, I opted for a sampler: 1/4 # of each of the following: Shoyu Poke, Kilauea Fire, and the signature Cold Ginger Ahi, which my friends have been raving about. All three were good and seasoned perfectly: just the right amount of sauce. My favorite, hands-down, was the Cold Ginger ahi, which pays homage to the Cantonese ginger-scallion sauce served over chicken, and not oily: wonderfully fresh grated ginger in this! Shoyu was also on point: nice sweet umami sauce. Was actually expecting much more spice in the Kilauea Fire, which had a mild chili flavor. Miso gave it depth and richness, making the sauce gochujang-like in flavor. Arguably, the only downside would be the price point: 1LB= $33.99 1/2LB= $16.99 1/4LB= $8.49: expensive, but excellent-quality product, and definitely fresh, with melt-in-the-mouth fish.
