One of my favorite take out places to go to. Their bowls are fresh and delicious. They also have a lot of seared bowls to choose from. I like ordering the uni and ikura bowl. Unfortunately, they do not have uni all the time. They do have hand rolls too and they're also pretty good. read more

My favorite poke spot in Honolulu! The fish is always incredibly fresh and tender, and everything tastes amazing. I built my bowl with salmon, shoyu ahi, tamago, and added uni over sushi rice. The photos looked so good that I had to check this place out! They offer both pre-made bowls and a build-your-own option, which I'm familiar with. I chose to build my own since their preset bowls were similar to others I've had. They offer mentaiko ahi and wasabi furikake ahi...both new to me. I wanted to try both, but since it was my first visit, I went with their popular limu option. You also get to pick two sides and all the toppings you'd like. We ordered a hand roll as well, and it was huge for the price, such a great value!! Overall, everything was delicious and definitely worth it. I would for sure come back for the handrollllllls. read more

The best poke bowl spot for variety and options. Mama Kim's is only a short bus ride from the Waikiki strip of hotels. I saw them on my IG reels and was stoked to come for a late lunch before an evening of surf. Their menu is extensive. I was low-key overwhelmed, so just went with the one that caught my eye. I love me some natto, and the Neba Neba caught my eye with that slow-cooked runny egg. I ordered as takeout, and they made my bowl within 10 mins. Super friendly and chill service. They also have local cans of juice and coconut waters for sale. Neba Neba was good, but I think I would try another bowl next time. If you're not a fan of runny texture, I would go for something else. My bowl was so colorful and healthy, I def got good ratio of protein to rice. Hella fresh and didn't leave me bloated. read more

One of the best poke bowls you're gonna get on the island. It's located in a small cozy little shop on the corner or Kaheka and King. All of their poke is made fresh daily and all of their fried dishes are fried perfectly to order. I really like the red dragon and the seared garlic ahi, my fiance loves the firecracker bowl. The hand rolls are all great too with vibrant flavors and fresh thick cut fish. The service is always on point and the servers are all friendly and cheery, esp the owner herself. There are a few places to sit on the inside and a couple of tables outside if you're going there to eat. Otherwise I would order ahead because they can get rather busy during the lunch our. read more

Mama Kim's delivers bold flavors without trying to be flashy, and the spicy habanero trio is a great example of that. Each item had its own personality, but they all shared the same deep heat and seasoning that felt intentional rather than overpowering. The habanero spice built gradually and stayed balanced, letting the flavor come through instead of just the burn. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared, with portions that felt satisfying without being excessive. Service was warm and straightforward. Orders came out promptly, and the staff was happy to explain the menu and make suggestions, which is always appreciated when you are trying something new. It felt welcoming and unpretentious, the kind of place where regulars are clearly known. The ambience is casual and comfortable, with a neighborhood feel that encourages you to relax and enjoy your meal. Nothing overdesigned, just a space that matches the food and keeps the focus where it should be. Overall, Mama Kim's is a solid go to when you want something flavorful, spicy, and thoughtfully made. I would gladly return to explore more of the menu. read more

I love Mama Kim's. My uber eats history will confirm this lol I've literally ordered from them two days in a row.. My go to is always a two choice poke bowl, usually with spicy ahi and shoyu ahi. Comes with 3 sides, I usually go with avocado, crab salad and takuan. Definitely add on the toppings such as furikake or garlic chips! Bowls have the option of regular white rice or sushi rice (always get the sushi rice)! The fish is always fresh and good quality! I've also tried the Kilauea bowl which was seared salmon and spicy salmon with toppings like crab salad and unagi sauce. So yummy!! No question that I will continue to support them! read more

Mama Kim's famous poke was a delicious last meal in Honolulu. We got a half salad, half sushi rice bowl with soy salmon and tuna sashimi, seaweed salad (extra seaweed), cucumber salad, crab salad, garlic chips, furikake, Bubu Arare, and a spicy Ahi handroll. This is one of my wife's go to lunch spots. She gets the Garlic Seared Salmon with unagi sauce. I got hamachi sashimi and spicy poke with kimchee and crab salad and sushi rice. It's very fresh tasting and extremely satisfying. It definitely hit the spot. Very flavorful. Fast service. The staff is so friendly and accommodating and made it an overall awesome experience. There is parking right around the corner in a lot for about $2.99 an hour. I grabbed it to go and took it to my wife's work for a quick date. We will continue to come back here. read more

While waiting for Ms Sofie I saw this little shop on the corner as I turned from King Street onto Kaheka. I've read reviews just didn't realized I'm driving past it every time I'm going to Sofie's groomer. It was actually the sign set up on the patch of grass in front that caught my eye because the restaurant doesn't open until 10:00 and I usually drop Miss Sofie off at 9:30 from a different entrance. OH well, now I know. So I walked to the front of the building as they were opening the doors, looked at the menu and placed my order. This is a very small shop, three people will make it feel crowded. There were four workers all working in unison to make the dishes efficiently and timely. I had the spicy Tuna hand roll, Spicy Hamachi hand roll and the California roll with a bottle of cold water and made use of the outside tables which are clearly marked for this business's use only. All the food was good, nori wraps crispy, just spicy enough. They apparently do a lot or Uber Eats and pick up/take out business. No designated parking, street parking only with meters but if you've ordered ahead and have someone with you it would be easy to pick up while your someone drives around the block. I'll definitely be back. Fast and friendly and definitely worth the prices charged. read more

This is our go to takeout spot. Mama Kim's has delicious bowls of super fresh fish at the best prices around. Their salmon and ikura bowl is $18, while the same thing at kaimuki shokudo is over $20! You're not sacrificing quality or quantity either, the fish is always fresh and the rice is fluffy and well seasoned. This place is always packed for good reason, and we will continue coming back here all the time. read more

Been wanting to try Mama Kim's from when they first opened and I'm so glad my coworkers and I finally got to try them! It's a small place with pick up only and they have a fridge with drinks & kimchee for purchase. I placed an order at about 11am and they were very fast. I got there about 15 minutes later and my order was ready. We ordered the spicy ahi deluxe bowl, seared salmon bowls, spicy ahi handroll, and hamachi handroll. The seared salmon bowl was so good. Perfectly seared with garlic chips & nori on top and ginger & wasabi on the side. It tasted like the torched sushi that you get an Genki Sushi but way better quality! The spicy ahi was so good as well. Minced fresh ahi with the perfect amount of spice. And the hamachi was my fav. Imported Japan hamachi, just melted in your mouth and tasted so fresh. The only hard part is the parking. Not sure if you can park in a parking structure, but I only saw metered parking and luckily there was one when I went. They're right next to Louise's. And close to the drive thru panda on King St. I definitely would go back! They have so menu items that look so good. I recommend you try them if you haven't already! read more

Mama Kim's makes solid poke bowls! They have a variety of poke offerings like spicy ahi, shoyu ahi, limu poke, hamachi and even a creamy mentaiko ahi! You can order your bowl with either one or two scoops and choose up to three toppings. It's hard to just choose three, but I tend to go for the crab, cucumber and tamago. They also have additional toppings for a charge like uni, ikura or shrimp tempura. The bowls are pretty expensive for the size, but they taste delicious! Don't pass up this tiny corner shop for a great poke bowl. read more

My friends always talk about Mama Kim's and I've been super curious about them ever since I tried their poke at a Poke Fest one year in Kapolei. They're located on S King Street and there's a shared lot but I heard it was pretty expensive to park there so we found street parking and walked over. They have a variety of poke bowls and chirashi, and also have a grab and go section of housemade sides like kimchi that piqued my interest. When you dine in they give you complimentary miso soup which was a super nice surprise. There's outside seating and a few chairs inside if you want to enjoy your food there. I really enjoyed both of our bowls, and could tell that they use great quality fish. I wish the fish to rice ratio was a little better but other than that I really enjoyed their food! read more

All the plates we ordered were fresh and tasty. The garlic seared tuna was creamy and delicious, the spicy tuna deluxe has the spicy kick, the spicy ahi inari bomb were exploding big flavors in the mouth. The rice were hot and creamy. The only down side is that after eating them, we were super thirsty, and drinking water nonstop. I think that's because I ate almost all of the delicious raw squid side dish without rice. My girlfriend works in fish restaurant so we eat poke bowls almost everyday so all i wanna say that these were the greatest poke bowls that we tried ever in our lives. Had to come back to make sure we are not mistaken :) Service was pretty basic, they immediately offered us chopsticks so that is a thumb up. Wish they had more money so they could make interior more interesting but they are a small family business that deserves more attention.
