Fresh sushi, fish, and poke bowls next to the YMCA in Kahala. Parking available in the lot, dining available inside. Food was so fresh, I can't wait to go back. Lots of people ordering and picking up take out, so it's worth a try if you haven't stopped by. Prices are reasonable, service is quick, and casual vibes. Check it out if you're in the area!

Domo Cafe is such an underrated gem. Their spicy ahi poke bowls are always so yum, and the quality is consistent. I love that it's more on the sweeter side with unagi sauce. If I'm not ordering the poke bowl, I'll order B8 (Spicy ahi bomb & salmon) and B5 (Garlic set). I've ordered this multiple times and have never been disappointed. The fish is fresh and the flavor is amazing. Service is fast and friendly, and there's a parking lot outside. I you, domo cafe!! For the domo owners - will you ever consider bringing back the smoothies and boba? I know it's been years, but the best strawberry smoothie with boba I've had was from here. I was so sad when you guys took it off the menu.

We came here for with friends who were visiting from the mainland. They were craving poke and wanted to eat at a restaurant where we could sit down. They got poke bowls but I got the beef udon. I'm glad that there were other options if you didn't want poke. The udon was perfectly bouncy and the meat was tender. Everyone enjoyed their poke bowls and thought it was delicious. The staff was nice and friendly.

The seared garlic salmon is the best thing here. The platters are perfect for parties, and we always swap out the ahi for seared salmon because it's just that good. Service is quick, and the platters are a great value overall.

Call ahead and pick up the aburi platter for your next party or potluck - you won't regret it. It's a guaranteed crowd pleaser. The seared garlic salmon is our personal favorite and this platter has nothing but the favorites.

This small quick food stop has quality fresh poke, sushi, and udon. They make the bowls to order. The cashiers are friendly and prompt. There is a small area inside for seating, but I almost always take mine to go. The poke is fresh and not overly seasoned. My favorite is the spicy ahi bowl with a topping of crab salad. The location is convenient and has free parking.

The food was good overall. I ordered the all-seared salmon and scallops, but both were a bit overcooked and didn't quite have that melt-in-your-mouth texture I was hoping for. The flavors were there, but the texture took away from the experience. Service and atmosphere were fine.

The best sushi bombs and seared nigiri on the island. I love ordering their platters for parties and the fish is always super fresh! I usually call or do online order for a quicker pickup!

Sushi flavors are great! We love ordering here but it seems they forgot to add ahi slices to my Cali bowl. A bit disappointed. Maybe it doesn't include it but the picture shows ahi poke and ahi slices. Overall, we'll order again.

We are so glad that this eatery is near us. This is a great location that is super convenient with adequate free parking. Their menu is pretty impressive with so many tasty options. Their sashimi is fresh and so far, we've enjoyed everything we ordered :) If you plan on calling in your order and picking up, it's very quick and easy. We especially appreciate their fast and friendly service.

I still enjoy the aburi lover's platter, which is about $60 and has 32 pieces of seared garlic salmon and ahi. I previously ordered two seared salmon bowls (for two people) which is about $35, so if you feel hungry, the platter is the way to go for more bang for your buck! The owner Shucong is also so, so kind and works really hard to make sure his customers have the best and freshest ingredients.

We were seated right away at 2:30pm and they close at 3:30pm. Then dinner is at 5:00pm. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered right away. Food came out shortly after. It looked good and it tasted good too. The purple potato salad with the 2 sweet potato chips was different and really good! After lunch, we decided to order 2 Kirin beers and a bottle of Iichiko with green tea. We drank 1/3 of the bottle and decided to save the rest for the next time. We will be back again. This very much pleases my pescatarian preferences. I can enjoy every bite of the bento without having to pass a piece of chicken or beef to the hubby. And, I enjoy every bite down to the last kernel of multigrain rice. So far (because we're still working our way through the menu), we've enjoyed the noriben bento and the butterfish bentos (more than once). Both are worthy of a dine-in restaurant. The high-quality rice (trust me, you can tell) is a perfectly-cooked pillow for the assortment of bento toppings. They offer both white and multigrain rice. Hubby likes white. I enjoy the pleasant nutty, sweetness of the multigrain. The noriben bento includes a piece of salmon, ahi katsu, and a tempura-furikake fish cake. A generous portion of shredded nori covers the rice and an assortment of pickled veggies compliments the sweet corn. Not only is this bento pretty, it is amazingly balanced in taste and texture. A feast for the eyes and the palate! But, the butterfish bento is the real showstopper. A very generous serving of carefully sliced, richly marinated butterfish tops your choice of rice. The hubby said it's probably the BEST butterfish he's ever had. And, I totally agree with him! Because of the way they slice the fish, the marinade saturates the filets and then it's grilled so the sauce caramelizes just enough to give a sweet and smoky flavor. SO ONO! Like I mentioned, the shop is small but if you get there early, it's full of bentos (fish, chicken, katsu pork, and hamburger steak), assorted musubis and inari, as well as sushi cups. They even offer desserts by Malu Honolulu. What a great collab! Every nook and cranny of this little shop is full of food prepared with thought and care. Only three people are allowed in the shop at a time, so there is sometimes a line outside. Don't worry! It goes fast, and it's SO WORTH the wait. Not surprisingly, they sell out. But if you don't think you're going to make it there early, you can call to order and schedule a pick up. Service is always very friendly and accommodating. Higoto is located on the first floor of Kaimuki Shopping Center on Waialae Avenue (by Times Supermarket next to Sacred Hearts). Parking is free and ample. Really, there is NO good reason to not give Higoto Japanese Eatery a try. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Somehow, I was there at the wrong time, or I didn't have a plan to go to Maguro-Ya. This time, we made a decision to meet for lunch. We didn't have a reservation. I parked in the residential area for free and walked a couple of blocks to the restaurant. Service was very polite and efficient. The interior was cozy and seemed authentic. I didn't feel any air-conditioning, so drinking hot tea was a bit challenging. I let my miso soup cool off before I drank it. I got the Maguro Zukushi Teishoku ($1.50 less during lunch vs. dinner) because it had a variety of Maguro: grilled, deep fried, and raw. I could taste the miso flavor on the grilled fish. I appreciated the crunchy breading on the ahi katsu. The sashimi was fresh! The assortment of sides and beautiful presentation was worth the visit to this established eatery! Their menu is simple and I was having the hardest time deciding between their Hamachi Kama Shioyaki Teishoku and Maguro Zukushi Teishoku. Initially I intended to order to go, but after I paid (it's credit card only - no cash), she asked if this was takeout or eat-in. I changed my mind and said I would eat there. There were no other customers at the time, so I sat at one of the tables. Within what seemed like a couple of minutes, she brought over a glass of water and the food to my table. When I paid, I didn't factor in table service, so, feeling bad, I look through my wallet but only had two dollar bills and the rest were larger. I got a five out and asked the server if I could get change. She replied that she was sorry they didn't have change. My mistake, at that moment, I had forgotten about the no cash policy. Back to the meal, the hamburgers appeared to be two fair-sized meatballs. They had been stewed in their version of demi-glace sauce. There was a small portion of what looked like potato salad, some edamame, and a vegetable salad with a vinegary dressing. I couldn't easily make out the rest of the ingredients in the list. To my taste, the meal was fairly good. Before leaving, I cleared my table of the plastic fork and disposable chopsticks. No one was at the counter, so I placed the empty plate and glass of water near the counter with the small bills - my way of apologizing for my lack of change.
