3-11-2026 Lunch with my wife and brother-in-law. I ordered the Char sui Ramen with miso broth. The broth was spot on. The noodles excellent. Char Sui was heavy on the shoyu flavor. Also ordered the fried oysters. This oyster dish in one of the best on the island. Enjoy

3-11-26 today my brother picked us up for lunch and I said I'm having something different instead of my regular musoyski butterfush. I had their salmon and ikura don. It comes with reg rice or sushi rice. I said I wanted sushi rice. It was very good the salmon was 3 pieces and the ikura was over the top of the rice. Only thing I couldn't taste the vinegar in the sushi rice other than that it was good. I'll order it again.

Update on Teishoku located in the Kamehameha shopping center . Next door to Times supermarket and Bale sandwiches. Whenever you see a line of customers to get inside to dine you better know it's good . Hands down this is one of the best place I've eaten butterfish Misoyaki. Try it if you haven't already I highly recommend it and when you look around the tables and mostly all the tables ordered the butterfish you know it's good lol Support local

Aunty took us to her favorite Japanese restaurant. Teishoku in the Kamehameha Shopping Center. Awesome food at very reasonable prices and excellent service. We had the Broiled Misoyaki Butterfish, Teriyaki Chicken, Deep Fried Oysters, Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura, and Shioyaki Salmon. All were perfectly prepared and delicious . You can also choose to have your entree's served with Sushi Rice ( we like it because it was well balanced and delicious). For dessert we had the Yuzu ice cream very nice to have a little citrusy, creamy, yet light. Perfect ending for our evening.

This is a cozy hole in the wall restaurant located in Kam Shopping center. They're generally pretty busy (especially when there are events being held at campus on the hill!). I like that they'll allow you to make a reservation online. 10 or 11 booths & a few seperate tables that can be put together for a large party. Prices are amazing! Service is friendly & quick. Food is delicious.

Yes, yes, and yes. Come for the butter fish and fried baby tako. You won't regret it. If you love Roy's butterfish, you'd love the butter fish here. Same sweet miso flavor except the fish cut is a lot thinner. But hey, you're also paying for a fraction of the price here. Enjoy!

Amazing food! Delicious poki with seaweed. Authentic local food, dine with the local folks. Better than any food you find at Waikiki. Highly recommend for a reasonably price meal.

One of my local friends recommended this spot. Be warned that parking is very busy in this plaza, but it is free. Inside is a quaint little Japanese ambiance. The menu has a good array of cooked fish choices, sushi options, and soups or ramen. The service was great, especially given our large group. This wasn't a super fancy place but the food was amazing. The prices are very reasonable as well. We will most certainly return to this spot when we visit Hawaii again.

Sunday 7/13/25 Came for a late lunch about 2 pm after an 11 am baseball game in Manoa and a flight of ice cream in Hawaii Kai. There was a bit of a wait as several tables and high chairs needed to be wiped down after previous customers who had left. It must have been busy earlier. The volume of their music was quite loud at first. Perhaps if they played some softer recognizable background music it would match their dainty looking hanging light fixtures better. There were 2 female employees, one took the order and another delivered our orders. A pleasant and polite male employee waited on other tables and brought us a package for left overs. We both couldn't figure out how to securely close their take out compartment container with a flap and a button like area but nothing to press it into. Hubs enjoys Saba and remarked that the prices were reasonable compared to elsewhere except for my steak. I ordered medium well, it was seasoned perfectly, looked thin but not charred or overcooked. It tasted delicious. Sadly for a ribeye it was tough and very chewy. I took 2/3 of it home in hopes of trying to soften it if I cook it for dinner by boiling it a bit then make a hekka or something with tofu tonight.

Like having a piece of Japan near my house! Quaint hole in the wall restaurant with quick and easy service. We live very close to Kam Shopping center, so this is one of our go to places. One of the waiters even knows my parents when ever he sees them. Very good quality for what you pay for. Their combination specials are the best and sushi rolls are to die for. Any of this fish or fried foods are perfect for all your Japanese living needs. It is on the smaller side and does get kinda crowded during dinner rush, but the waiters/waitresses do a very good job on getting your food to your table very quick. I honestly got my food before I could finish a conversation. My favorites are always the appetizers or Ala carts. Hamachi Carpacio, Salmon round onion, baby tako, tako wasabi, karaage, all are so good.

It's been a while since been here. Looked the same, clean& compact with booth & table seating. Complete your reservation online as lunch & dinner times, you may not get a table right away. Happened to me & had to go at 3:30pm instead of 5 pm as I first requested. Seated & plenty of time for my party of 7 to arrive & check out what they wanted to eat. Staff is efficient and service on this slow period was sufficient, getting extra plates , forks, etc . The food was tasty & with good portions. ( see pics) everyone enjoyed their meals & some had leftovers. Very reasonable prices, & quality of food & freshness is a plus! Have to go more often. They offer a punch card system for frequent diners, getting you a discount. Parking in the busy strip mall , can be challenging, just be patient. A very pleasant dining experience with good Japanese food!

Food was delicious, Service was amazing. It's a little hole in a wall place, It had the best tempura I've ever had. Tried the 2 choice bento & Some appetizers. Delicious food, I do wish they had more options for their bentos and an option to have 3 choices. Other than that, I liked this place.

The food here is always good. It's our standard go to place and it's quite popular. I think Tuesday nights is senior discount night so it's usually pretty packed and the weight can be long. At other times of the day you don't have to wait long to get a seat. the staff is friendly and very efficient. The place is always clean, quiet, and pleasant. lots of parking in the Kamehameha shopping center parking lot.

It was his dream to open his own authentic Japanese restaurant using his special omakase experience from Japan and one of the first authentic sushi restaurants in Honolulu. It was a concept of "bringing Japan's finest to Hawaii" with a desire to "build a bridge between the two cultures of Japan and Hawaii." In 2018, operations were taken over by Testsuya Matsuda. A 2nd location was opened in Kahala in Jan 2024 by Hiroshima Mazda, whose specialty is traditional Japanese sushi (or omakase). Yohei Sushi 's menu offerings include: * Teishoku (or set meal). Comes with miso soup, rice, Japanese pickles, cold soba noodles, seasonal side dish. Main entrees are sashimi, tempura, maguro, misoyaki butterfish, ahi steak, saba. Salmon, ahi belly, katsu, and more. * Sushi Bar. With miso soup. Menu offerings are deluxe & standard assorted sushi, maguro don, Chirashi sushi. * Noodles. Choice of udon or soba with various combinations, e.g., nabeyaki, tempura, tororo, tanuki, zaru, kitsune, tori, tukimi, kake, and ojiya udon. Also, combo meals of tendon/noodle, sushi/noodle; and donburi of unaju, oyako don and ten-ju. * Side order & ala carte. Ahi belly katsu, misoyaki butterfish, saba, seafood tempura, maguro temprta, ahi steak, salmon. We've had the following: * Tendon and Noodle. Deep fried tempura of shrimp and assorted veggies in a rice bowl with sauce & hot udon. Very filling and tasty! * Tempura Teishoku. This teishoku had 3 large pieces of fried tempura shrimp and assorted veggies, e.g., carrot, eggplant, green beans, pumpkin, that were light and non-oily. Our teishoku meals came with pickled veggies, cold soba, rice, and miso soup with lots of wakame and radish sprouts. Very flavorful! They also offered a complimentary birthday scoop of ice cream with a dollop of an as a topping, which was refreshing and paired well! * Maguro Tempura Teishoku. Hubby's choice of fried tempura tuna set, and he noted that there were 8 large tender pieces of maguro that was lightly fried and non-oily. Very delicious and filling! * Unagi nigiri. The unagi was so flaky, tender, and light and had the right amount of sauce. Loved it! The presentation of the meals was beautifully plated with real, authentic Japanese small dish bowls and plates. The food was of good quality and very flavorful! Customer service was excellent! Diners are greeted by staff upon entering and thanked when leaving. The old-time servers were very patient, attentive, welcoming, and gracious! Our food orders came out in a timely manner, and the servers, with smiles, frequently asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Hours of operation are: lunch daily from 11a to 2p, dinner from 5p to 9p, closed Wed. Happy hour is from Thurs to Tues from 1:30p to 5p. Located in Kokea Center that looks like a run-down strip mall at Dillingham Blvd and Kokea St, the restaurant interior has a great ambiance as if you were dining in Japan, as it is comfortable and welcoming. It was amazing to see almost every table was taken by dining customers. Reservations are a must, as people are turned away. Good thing I called for lunch reservations at 12:15p on a weekday, which was tha last table available. And the restaurant was packed the entire time that we were there! Free parking in the private lot shared by other businesses, as well as metered street parking. The teishoku comes with several small side dishes, the tempura, doba, rice, and miso soup. It's a solid amount of food. Everything was oishikatta, and I left the restaurant feeling full. My friend & I were greeted right away upon entering the restaurant, and directed to sit into a vinyl seated booth/table. Yagura's menu is simple, offering an array of Teishoku meals. I ended up getting the BBQ Chicken Teishoku meal which included a salad, miso soup, white rice, & tsukemono. My friend - Gary T. ended up getting a combination plate of BBQ Chicken & Shrimp Tempura. What can I say about da grub? Simply O.U.T.S.T.A.N.D.I.N.G!!! My BBQ Chicken came out on a hot sizzling platter, & underneath the BBQ Chicken there was grilled onions. Yum! The chicken skin was crispy, and the sauce was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! Nicely executed! Sushi counter has 8 seats and there are some additional tables. Hiro is planning to do some pretty cool things with the space-- so fun! FOOD: Amazing. The first course included saba, which Hiro prepared exceptionally well. The other components of the first dish were tasty too. For the nigiri, our favorites were the chutoro and otoro (unsurprisingly). There was also salmon nigiri with pesto which was unique, but not our favorite. We noticed that Hiro adds additional flavoring components to good quality fish/seafood.. the flavors all complemented each other well, without overpowering the fish. SERVICE: Good. Hiro was chef, waiter, dishwasher, everything (he said he does this on certain nights when it's slower). He juggled all the duties well. The courses were presented at a nice pace and our waters were filled regularly. OVERALL: Wonderful experience. We appreciated Hiro's personalization and flair. It was also fun talking story with him! Plus, BYOB! He said he plans to keep the omakase area BYOB too. We definitely plan to return.

The space is decorated with interesting art that changes in the light. Portraits of Hiro adorn the walls. I love it. There's a huge tv that looks like a painting. The omakase journey was spectacular and the two things I really liked about it were: 1) the yuzu kosho pairings, 2) the black sesame tamago. Everything else was great but those two things really stuck with me. The entire course was peppered with flavor medleys that were new to me. Overall, I had a great time with a special someone and we'll definitely be back for more!

Glad we had a reservation (even though we went for an early lunch). The place hasn't changed, the decor is the same What was nice was that there were a lot of wait help so service, even when it was busy, was attentive. Food was plentiful. Previously I had ordered the teishoku tempura but next time I'll order the tempura and side of rice. My sister did this and she had such a large serving of various tempura. I think there was four shrimp tempura (the teishoku didn't have as much. Most of the time I've been here the parking was available. But because there are so many other restaurants and stores the parking lot was usually pretty full but perhaps because we were lucky or early there were many spaces. I keep telling myself I need to order bitter melon. But I never do. Maybe next time

Love to pregame Hawaii Theatre shows at Hachibei But now that they have announced their impending closure (last day of operations is this coming Sunday). Waiter greeted us upon arrival and was very pleasant as he confirmed our reservation and selections. Our waitress was very attentive and always kept an eye on our drinks to make sure we were never without. We ordered the $55 course as we were not fans of truffle in the $75 meal. We got the oyster shooter and added on the corn ribs on the side. Everything was enjoyable and I am really disappointed it took me so long to visit this great place and it's closing :(
