[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy, clean and friendly atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were greeted and seated upon arrival and ordered a few minutes later. We both ordered the crispy seafood noodle. Our food came out very quickly and it was very delicious. Lots of ingredients like shrimp and fish in a tasty broth in the bed of noodles. Very satisfying!!! Water was refilled and service was great. Highly recommend!

First time here and it was great. Wife was craving ramen and curry. Literally down the road from where we were. Pretty good amount of selections and this place reminds me a lot of sumo ramen. If you like sumo ramen then this is the place for you. The curry and ramen tastes the same. Service and fast and food was served right away.

Friendly service and prices are affordable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean and efficient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like their curry more than their ramen. We got mini spam curry and mini mochiko curry. Spam katsu was thick and crispy! Mochiko chicken was also crispy and flavorful! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good for cooler weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Walked in and we were greeted right away by a woman working at the front counter who told us we could pick a table. Once we sat down she came over right away with waters and menus. We ordered, Kim Chee fried rice, 2 katsu ramens, and a combo vegetable ramen with fried rice and gyoza. I don't eat pork and when I mentioned this to our sever she was immediately accommodating and said they could make the fried rice without it. Everything was delicious and portions were generous. They have excellent combination options and the prices are reasonable. For katsu, ramen, fried rice, etc, this is a solid option in Salt Lake and we will definitely be back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall: excellent service, delicious food, clean dining room, and good prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Unbelievable little gem. Family owned. No frills. Hearty and savory food. Prices are on the more affordable side. Vegetarian? Vegan? They can adjust and provide you with something hearty. Just ask the question. We go here weekly to get our curry fix in. They have two sizes so you can adjust accordingly - mini or regular. Parking - free. Absolutely no gripes, this is hands down my comfort food spot.

Quick stop for dinner. First time trying this place and won't be our last. Service is great. Menus and water came out fast. The server was pleasant and helpful with our questions. I ordered the spicy garlic chicken wings with curry. First the curry...was piping hot and included carrots and onions. Was on the sweeter side compared to typical Japanese curry. The wings...wow. Crunchy, garlicky, spicy...Ono goodness. I could eat a dozen. Swing by and support these local small businesses.

Not really a ramen person unless its really good-- and this garlic tonkatsu ramen is realllly good! no wonder people drive here ... tasty- reasonably priced- good portions- friendly service- and [[HIGHLIGHT]]they open at 9:30 am - great for me after being cold after an ocean swim!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Gyoza is good too- I drank all the broth which I hardly do-

Always so ono, been here a few times since they moved into the shopping center near where I live. The food is always so good! Just wish had a little more curry when you order take out. Stopped in here by chance as we were hungry and in the area. Not many people dining in but a consistent flow of take out orders and/or pick ups while we dined in. Very pleased with the welcoming vibe from the two workers up front and super quick service to not only order but to get our food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was also very happy to see the workers actively cleaning around the restaurant, you hardly see that nowadays other than bussing tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was delicious and affordably priced and not sure what they put in their kimchi or if I was really hungry but it was extra tasty. I don't normally frequent the area but would eat here again.

The chicken katsu and ebi fry lunch special was good, the curry was pretty flavorful. It reminds me of golden curry I'd make at home. The katsu was crispy as expected. I liked the rice too, the perfect kind to soak up the curry and pair with the katsu. The Katsu Kushi was fun to eat as it had a good amount of variety. I enjoyed the mochi quite a lot, the beef was a bit tough to eat, and I would note that the soft shell crab was extremely fishy. Like INEDIBLE fishy. I don't know if they always have it like that or if it was just an off one. Either way it was NOT pleasant. The service was friendly, I would definitely visit again if I'm craving katsu and/or curry and was near the area (wouldn't go out of my way for it though).

Such a good amount of food for both my kids which they couldn't finish. Service was good and quick. The waitress was attentive to refills of drinks. I got a Diet Coke and was so glad they have Coke products and the fountain drinks there. Parking was packed at lunch time but was opening up as we were looking for parking. The stalls and ways of the parking lot can be confusing if you don't go there often.

I wish my Japan trips included ramen but those days it wasn't as popular here. Of course there are gazillion any type of noodle shops then and now in Japan. So wish I could base my criteria on eating real, authentic, 3+ days of simmering pork bones to produce the tonkotsu soup. But alas I haven't and have to go with whatever type of tonkotsu soup here. Gawd only knows if they follow the real method. I think not. But anyway saying that I got the char siu ramen combo with fried rice and gyoza. Firstly I am a freak for wok he, it's my holy grail as I find not even chinese restaurants don't have it. Apparently they don't employ wok masters or they cook the fried rice on the (ack!!) grill. Only those who can really wok can produce that smoky flavor into their fried food. And this fried rice had it spades. Mouthful after Mouthful produced that imparted that delectable flavor. To me if you got wok he you don't need a whole lotta spices cuz that in itself enhances the dish. So yes they have it. Moving on I found the tonkotsu soup to be too salty. Luckily I can dilute it with hot water before eating The gyoza was plump and well gyoza'd. The side order of chicken katsu came with a very delicious romaine side salad with a creamy sweet sauce. Not tangy like Ranch. I enjoyed it very very much. The chicken was nicely golden in panko and tender. Overall I will reorder the delicious wok he char siu fried rice and side chicken katsu again. Loved those two

Located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center, Build Your Own Rmaen (BYOR) opened on December 26, 2018 offering create your own bowl of noodles. As a townie and not keen to fight traffic, I've bookmarked this business and finally made it here after 6 years. Late to the party but better than never... I was invited to celebrate a birthday with noodles and was asked to give suggestions near Pearl City area. I immediately jumped and mentioned BYOR, and used next door neighbor Island Glazed Donuts as an incentive. No further explanation needed so I took off 1/2 day from work to attend this get together. It was a right decision to come here for lunch as traffic from town was light and lots of parking as we arrived on a Wednesday. With many shared businesses in this lot, parking can get challenging here. The restaurant was fairly empty as I arrived at 1215pm and sat on a long table for our group of 5. They have picture menus so it's easy to follow the instructions to order. Interior was bright and welcoming with many signs of food pictures posted on the walls and as well on each table. Near the entrance are 2 long showcases of meats and vegetables. Signs advise you the price and there's also a laminated chart on the wall near the scale that calculates your cost as your bowl is dependent on the weight. You grab an empty basket and pair of tongs and you select what you want. For me, I chose head on shrimp, book tripe, beef tendon, fish ball with roe, squid, bamboo shoots, black fungus, fried tofu, pumpkin slices and king mushroom. You take your basket to the register to have it officially weighed where you also select your broth and type of starch. I was craving a curry broth but unfortunately that wasn't an option. I then took a leap of faith by trying the spicy sour cabbage broth. In addition to each of us getting our bowl of noodles, my sister also wanted to try their spring rolls. Perhaps because it wasn't busy our food came out quickly. Piping hot, our creations were nicely presented with toppings nicely arranged. We snapped away with our cameras and it was finally time to dig in. THE VERDICT: Overall, very impressed with the food quality and execution. Loved how tender the book tripe and beef tendon were. The head on shrimp were cooked until perfection - - juicy and lots of shrimp head fat. Yummo!!! My noodles had a great chew and bounce, however, I wasn't a real fan of the spicy sour cabbage broth. Kinda tasted like a tom yum koong but somewhat funky. I jazzed up my creation with their housemade satay sauce that was off the charts. Highly recommended. Service was above average as the staff came to check up on us and refilled our water cups. She even came to see if we had room for our complimentary Taiwanese style shave ice dessert that comes with ramen orders. This bowl was heavenly. So refreshing and cooled our palates down after a hot bowl of noodles. We enjoyed our first visit to BYOR and will be back again. I'll be sure to order another broth and perhaps sample other appetizers that got my attention. NOTE. You pay for your meal after you're done. My bowl was a whopping $35. For a party of 5 service charge of 18% was automatically tacked on to our bill. You also have the option of adding more gratuity in addition to the automatic service charge. 2026 #55
