Food felt heavy in my stomach at the end of the dinner. Serving sizes exceeded my expectation and my friend and I shared the chicken katsu teishoku. This came with some vegetables and miso soup. Their lettuce salad is unlimited/bottomless and what helped combat the oily food. Service was okay. We walked in around 430pm on a weekday and were seated right away. I decided I wanted to eat here for my birthday and they didn't disappoint! The ambience is cozy and small but not uncomfortable by any means. The server/bartender was very efficient and friendly. You could tell he was working hard running around everywhere. I really enjoy this place for a comforting meal! The two times I came here it was pretty early so didn't have to wait for a table. For my most recent visit, I ordered the ebi fry and pork loin katsu. Both the ebi fry and pork loin were crispy yet moist on the inside. I also like it with the sauce that you get to make by grinding the sesame seeds. The cabbage with the dressing is a nice addition for some freshness! We also ordered some kushi-katsu on the side such as zucchini, Maui onion, soft shell crab and a beef and chicken one. They were all pretty good but a bit pricey for one stick each. Overall, a filling meal with some leftovers if you order kushi-katsu in addition to your entree. Service was good and food comes out pretty fast. I do recommend Koromo for a nice meal out in the Aiea/Pearlridge area! read more

Most recent was during lunch time so I tried their lunch menu. I ordered the lunch special of curry w/ chicken & either 1 piece shrimp or 2 pieces of oyster. I ordered the oyster this time. The portion size was good for me since I wasn't super hungry but if you are hungry I recommend getting the regular size. I also ordered the shishito pepper kushikatsu which was ok. Expensive for the price. My meal did come with cabbage salad, there are 2 dressings. Our server gave us more cabbage too. My husband got the ebi curry and he really enjoyed it. The curry has a little bit of a kick but we loved it. The shrimp was better than the oysters. My in-laws really enjoyed their meal and were very happy to try this place. read more

The curry was delicious and had a small hint of spice to it, which we thought was very tasty. Catching up with the recent Kdramas on Netflix had me craving tonkatsu. Been wanting to try Koromo for a while now and this did satisfy the craving. Super convenient as it is at Pearlridge mall - phase 2 (they keep changing the name) parking entrance. We did get there around lunch time so we did have a 20-min wait which was fine as my sister had a few minutes to shop at the Korean skincare store. Before giving my phone number to get on the waitlist, we did notice there were tables outside and also counter seating but for some reason, those sections weren't open. And honestly, because of the Kdrama series I just finished, I wanted to sit at the counter. And so we waited 20-mins. Our server was super sweet and attentive and answered our questions. Even for the weekend, the lunch menu is available which is good because it is less expensive and it's a half portion. No leftovers to carry around while shopping. My pork katsu was cooked perfectly, moist and soft. Many other places will over cook it and just too hard to cut into and eat. My sister enjoyed her chicken and shrimp curry katsu. And the veggie katsu skewers also very good. It was fresh when it arrived. Not oily and not burning hot. But do be careful biting into the mushroom, it's juicy. The restaurant is super cute. We got the katsu curry, a small pork loin katsu, and a 3 piece chicken katsu. The meals come with shredded cabbage and two different dressings - miso/sesame. Both good as well. Something about having a pile of finely shredded cabbage that is refreshing. The teishoku meals came with miso soup and rice. And the regular menu items also came with kimchi, pickled daikon, and pickled cabbage. All of it was good and filling. We took home two bento containers and the sweet server gave us extra cabbage because she heard my daughter say how much she liked it. It was a Monday during an odd time, 2pm, but was still busy. I think there was room for about 8 sets of 4 people. And most of the tables at the time were filled. We can just imagine how it is during prime meal times. Overall, my family enjoyed the meal. We were happy to take some food home. Overall cost for all four meals was $125 with tip and a surcharge for paying with a credit card. As I made a reservation for lunch, our table was waiting for us when we arrived. I had the pork loin tonkatsu for lunch. It came with sesame seeds to crush and mix with the two tonkatsu sauce. First time dining here and overall a solid experience! We arrived around 8 PM, but since Pearlridge Mall had already closed, getting into the restaurant was a bit confusing. There were no clear directions on how to enter after mall hours, so we waited by the doors until someone exiting let us in. We ordered the Pork Loin Katsu Teishoku, which came with miso soup, cabbage, rice, and a small veggie side. We also got the Pork Loin Katsu Curry with rice and side cabbage. Now, the cabbage sauce, usually our favorite part, was different this time. The sesame dressing we usually crave was available at the counter, but it had a surprisingly sour kick that had my eye twitching with every bite. My spouse had the same reaction and ended up preferring the darker shoyu-based dressing, which had a more balanced, flavorful taste. Definitely not what we expected, but it worked out! The curry was delicious hot, fresh, and satisfying. The pork loins were tender, juicy, and had minimal fat, which we really appreciated. We also tried a few side kushikatsu: mushroom, short rib, and zucchini. All crispy and tasty additions to the meal. I ordered the PORK LOIN KATSU TEISHOKU 190g (6.7oz) for $28.25. Each set comes with thinly-sliced cabbage, Kimchee, Tsukemono, Seasonal Miso Soup, and your choice of white or brown rice. Nice simple ambiance and clean. I usually don't dine at a Japanese restaurant and eat Katsu (cutlet) in Hawaii because I always compare it to Japan. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. We gave her our orders and in no time we were served. For starters we were served miso soup which was good. I was pleasantly surprised how tender my Katsu was. The thinly sliced cabbage is always a great complement with rice. You might ask, If I enjoyed it so much, why give a four star? It's because I didn't get free refill on my Coke. I had to pay an extra $3.75 for a refill. Also, in Japan you can get more rice, cabbage and miso soup at no charge. All in all it was good. Would I return... maybe. Koromo is a restaurant specializing in katsu, located in pearlridge "downtown". I like parking in the shaded lot near longs and going up the escalator to the mall level so that my car doesn't get hot. Also, the upper floor parking lot is not designed very well and I always feel like I'm waiting forever up there. Once upstairs, if you walk towards the entrance to the upper floor parking lot, it's on the right, across from mango mango and aloha salads. The inside is kind of homey. I think they try to fit as many people inside as possible because the tables are a little squished or placed at kind of awkward angles. There were a few other couples dining at the same time... it looked like a couple of office workers and then some tourists. I was surprised the tourists came all the way to pearlridge for Katsu.... It's probably not something I'd do or recommend because there are so many other choices. Koromo must do good marketing to tourists. For lunch on a weekday there was no wait, but I think this place could get crowded because it isn't that big of a restaurant. However, the waitress told me to wait for my friend before she seated me... I thought that was a bit unnecessary, but it allowed me a couple minutes to look at the menu posted outside the restaurant. They offer lunch specials, which is nice because the regular menu prices are all over $20 per plate. I got the pork Katsu lunch special for $17. It came with rice, cabbage and miso soup. You can add one of two dressings to the cabbage to make a cabbage salad and there are two types of Katsu sauce. The service was good. We were checked on regularly and they allowed us to split the check. Our waters were always refilled and the waitresses were nice except for that beginning part when they wouldn't seat me unless my friend was there. If you like Katsu, this is the place to go in pearlridge or probably anywhere in Pearl city/aiea. There are similar restaurants in town/waikiki that I think I prefer, but this is a good alternative if you're in the area. read more
