Steak & Shrimp plate with friend Seimen noodles!
Allister D.

I thought this was a remodel and new location from the original Ono Steak & Shrimp shack in Waimanalo but it's not.. sadly. Me and my wife had a nice experience here. We ordered two plates of the shrimp and steak and a plate of seimen fried noodles with garlic butter. The steak and shrimp plate was really simple and didn't have much flavor. The steak bites were a bit too small and the shrimp wasn't coated with garlic butter or anything; just plain and slightly cooked. I was hoping they'd serve the plates with Mac salad instead of the salad but they don't. The noodles were way too salty. The diced bbq pork was also salty. You definitely need a large beverage with the meal to stay hydrated. Please note, it's $1 for a refill as well. I know this place is booming with plenty of regulars which is great but for me and my wife, we prefer a different style of steak and shrimp. This wasn't it but that's ok! I do want people to try this place out! I know there will be lots that will love it.

I visited recently and unfortunately had a frustrating experience regarding both the billing and the food quality. First, there was a discrepancy in pricing. The menu clearly stated a price of $22 for my meal, but I was charged $24 on the final bill. I recommend checking your receipts here to ensure the menu prices are being honored. Regarding the meal, i ordered the steak and the salmon. Unfortunately, both dishes were so heavily salted that they were unpleasant to eat. I was looking forward to the meal, but the seasoning completely overwhelmed the natural flavors of the fish and meat. I hope the management can look into the pricing consistency and the kitchen's seasoning levels, as we'd love to see these issues resolved.

The nice refurbished counter.

Yummy steak and shrimp plate. The steak is done perfectly and is served on the rice. So all the oils and yumminess drips on the rice. My wife likes the buttery shrimp.

Lunch in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawai'i... Ono Steak & Shrimp popped up on my Yelp feed a few times, so I decided to give it a try. It opened about a month ago. This is the third location for Ono Steak & Shrimp. The first two shops are in Kapolei and Waipahu. Located on Waiakamilo Road, this site used to house a popular old school eatery - before they decided to retire. The current cashier said that this business Ono Steak & Shrimp) is here to stay! She was very friendly and welcoming! The young man was also very kind! I asked where to sit... for the coolest spot... they pointed to the back table... LOL! Thanks! The interior looks modern, clean and bright! It's very spacious with many tables and chairs for dining in. I'm thinking about bringing a group here... because the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous! I got the 4 ounce Steak with shrimp. I was so happy when I opened the container and found that the Steak was cut up for me! That makes it VERY convenient! The meat was tender and well-seasoned! The shrimp had a creamy, buttery garlic sauce - rich and yummy! The rice and green salad (with thousand island dressing) were nice sides. I'm looking forward to returning and trying the noodles and the salmon! I should just go down the menu and taste everything!

Now open on waiakamilo Rd!!! I ordered their steak & shrimp plate with half rice & half noodles. The noodles is super good. The shrimp has a good buttery taste and the steak is soft and buttery too. They cut it like steak bites. A little on the salty side but still good. They pack the plate for $25. The workers are super friendly. They have a dine in area to enjoy your food. Plenty of parking right outside of the restaurant. They do close at 7pm so get your dinner before then!

I've been to their location in Kapolei - their original - they have another one (2) in Waipahu. Today, Friday.12.September.2025 is their grand opening. Well, I don't like seafood but chicken and steak is fine by me. I requested Steak & Chicken Plate, which comes with salad greens...I chose Italian dressing...also, requested medium for my steak. Got the BBQ sauce foe the chicken. I didn't get medium but ( I forgot ) they cut the steak into bite-size pieces and it was soft and well-seasoned...right amount of salt and pepper. Chicken was okay. BBQ sauce was a bit sweet and tangy...different from what I am used to and prefer. So, y'all can't expect the Deep South trifecta of barbecue sauce: sweet, tangy, and spicy. Price was decent...had takeout. Five dedicated parking stalls are in front of Ono Strak & Shrimp

I got the 8 oz and my boyfriend got the 12 oz.

Can't wait to come back! I got the 8 oz and my boyfriend got the 12 oz. They were super generous with portions. Steak was cooked to perfection and shrimp was incredible. Plate flavors were savory, balanced and rich. We were both so stuffed and happy after. Waited like 10 minutes for food. Staff were kind. Restaurant had lots of space. Definitely worth it!

3rd time eating in here in the last few months. Always got steak n salmon. Always good but tonight different. Cuz first time paying for 1oz extra steak. ($2.50) Never look any different from the other plate we ordered...which was 8oz steak w/shrimp. Wish they had one way for tell if they added the extra steak. I would suggest placing it in like one small paper sample try so we know or even dakine add one flag "1oz". Instead of just throwing em in. Cuz how we suppose to know. I mean I went ask aunty if was added in but still yet. That way we no feel like we just got reeeeeeeeeped. Cause I think so I just got reeeeeep'd. $46 for 2 plates....next stop zippys.

SO GOOD!! I ordered the steak and chicken plate with one scoop of rice and mixed greens with Italian dressing and everything was absolutely amazing! Overall service and ambience was also great. Highly recommend.

Chicken & Noodle plate with side 1oz steak

The first time we visited--right after they opened--the chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the noodles were absolutely delicious. It honestly set the bar high for us. The second visit was just okay. The third time, I added a 1 oz side of steak, and it looked like they gave me closer to 2-3 oz, which was awesome. The next time I ordered the same thing, the steak portion looked like a true 1 oz (which is technically what I paid for, so no complaints there!). Then on our most recent visit, I received extra steak again. Now I'm just confused about what the standard portion is supposed to be. More importantly, the chicken has never been as juicy as it was that first time. Since then, it's consistently been dry and a bit tough. We really enjoy the food and want to keep coming back, but we're hoping for more consistency in both flavor and portion sizes.

8 oz steak with garlic shrimp , tossed greens , and rice

I always passed by this spot since I frequent the area pretty often and due to my job being nearby. I was always curious and finally made the attempt to come by to try it out. So glad I finally did! Apparently this is their third location and it's locally owned (love that) and they are from the westside. I ordered the 8oz steak and shrimp combo with tossed greens and white rice along with a root beer. The steak was very soft and flavorful , the portion was pretty big , the shrimp I also really enjoyed as that's my go to , to eat with steak. Very garlicky and flavorful as well. My only thing I wish they did was offer more shrimp in the plate but either way I still enjoyed it all. The inside of the eatery is very clean which I appreciated and simple! Since you can see the back of their kitchen while you wait , I noticed the back also seems very clean and tidy. That's important especially when a lot of establishments don't live up to sanitary regulations and all. It was good vibes all around and the girl who took my order was very personable and kind! Definitely a good experience overall , I'd return again in the future!

Steak was good, but not great. Certain areas were salty. Did wish they would cut their steaks on how you normally cut them for the juice to stay, instead they cut it in cubes. It's good enough if your craving for steak, and don't want to cook. Yes I had better elsewhere, but this is good enough. Portions were a lot, however you choose what size oz, steak you want. The bigger oz, ofcourse the more you'll get. Shrimp was ok, I could tell it's the frozen kine. I know many places use frozen/packaged shrimp, but many places know how to make it where it doesn't look/tasts previously frozen. Only big downfall is that it would be nice if they make simple burgers/fries, great for the keikis, or just something on the side. A simple burger is always needed when you grab plate lunch. Inside of the restaurant was clean, organize, nice color interior, cashier was nice and welcoming. Overall it's good enough that hits the spot

She agreed and was presented with the hair free 8.50 version. It is common practice to not only provide the option of replacing the product for the customer but to remove the charge for the hair laced food from the bill. I expected more from this Honolulu establishment.

My buddy really likes siao mai, and he said KSR has the best ones out of the places I have brought him to in HNL. On the other hand, the manapua was just okay: The ratio of meat to bao was low. I took char siu fr the platter and added it to the bao. We might have been better off skipping the baos and ordering a rice or noodle plate. The har gow and spring rolls were pretty good. The rolls arrived piping hot, and the har gow had a nice texture in the wrapper. Fourthly, the cucumber was fresh & crunchy, and had lots of garlic. I ate some with the char siu to cut thru the fat. Lastly, the char siu & duck platter was very good. They do a good job of putting some char on the bbq pork. The duck was tasty, but there were a couple of bony pieces. Regarding the ambiance, its big in here. Although they don't use carts, the aisles are wide. The servers were friendly & warm. I would def return for dim sum, but I also want to come for dinner. The food is very good, and the prices are reasonable.

They were understanding and didn't give us any issues. Everyone was nice and helpful, especially since it was our first time there. The restaurant was pretty empty around 5 PM on a Thursday, but I imagine it gets more popular on weekends, especially with the BYOB policy.
