Not all-you-can-eat, birthday boy just wanted to eat certain dish and we had 3 seniors who couldn't eat that much. Lots of parking available, outside restaurant mostly people using laundry nearby. We were welcomed and guided to our table. We ordered happy hour appetizers and main dishes. Salmon and ahi were ok. But the hamachi was really good. Not sure if it's the season but it was better than ahi or salmon. The fish were all fresh and big sizes. Very good value. Hotate scallops from Japan were great too, sweet and tender. I didn't care for the yuzu pepper on it, it only masked the flavor so I had to remove it. I ordered the Hoe Deop Bab. It comes with rice but I didn't need it so gave to my brother. I thought it was squid but it was the scallops in the salad so I was happy. The peanut dressing was really good and it went well with the sashimi. We had good family time. We asked for more hot tea and the serving girls came and filled it up. They left a jug of water on the side so we helped ourselves to water so it was less interruption. The Good The Maki : Hands down, these were a highlight. They are well-made and genuinely good. The Perks: The service was friendly and attentive, the bottomless soda is a huge plus, and the all-you-can-eat format means you can easily order as much as you want to try different items. The Bad Massive Rice Portions: Everything else suffers from an extreme over-abundace of rice. One of the nigiri rice portions was so huge it easily equaled the normal rice amount of four to five pieces of nigiri combined. The Taste Experience: Because of the oversized portions, it honestly felt like eating a giant ball of rice with just a tiny sliver of fish on top. When all you taste is plain rice bite after bite, it defeats the purpose of going out for sushi and quickly ruins the all-you-can-eat experience. Also, the salmon was oddly chewy and wasn't buttery like most places. Final Verdict If you are strictly coming for the Maki rolls and the convenience of all-you-can-eat ordering with good service, it's an okay spot. I've heard about this spot for a while. I love sushi and especially an AYCE sushi spot so when I heard that this spot could possibly be one of the best ones on the island, I finally went to try it out. I would note that they do close at 8PM and stop seating AYCE sushi quite early (from what I've heard as early as 6:45). We went super early for that reason, specifically at 4, so there really weren't as much people doing the AYCE yet. We walked up to the counter and let the cashier know we wanted to dine in and do the AYCE. A different person then walked us to the other side where the dine in seats are. We're given the menu and an expo marker. Then they came back with the wasabi as well as taking our order (aka taking the menu) We got: - Aburi salmon !!, ahi, Hamachi !!, ebi, scallop - Shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura!!, calamari!! - Unagi nigiri !! - Green dragon roll - Fire cracker roll - Baked mussels !! Everything was good, the menu is not super expansive with much less choices than, for example, Kan Sushi. I would also note that they kind of pack each piece with rice. I'm unsure how strict they are regarding the left over rice policies, but if you'd definitely get full very quickly with their rice to fish ratio. I'd recommend the aburi items (maybe except the ebi as it felt especially small the amount of rice). I wouldn't recommend their shrimp tempura as it is definitely pre-packaged shrimp tempura refried. (I also put an "!!" next to the items I would REALLY recommend. Otherwise, I don't think I will come back. Not that it was a bad experience or anything but in my opinion there's just simply better AYCE sushi spots out there. read more

I will preface this by saying that I visited this establishment with a very large party and don't recommend it. The fish didn't taste as fresh as I'd prefer, but it wasn't bad. The EXPERIENCE however was terrible. I've been to Ahi & Vegetable many times prior to moving and have always enjoyed their bowls, however, It was my first time trying their AYCE sushi. I'll start with the good. I enjoyed the poke bowl and crunch roll. The menu didn't offer a lot of options and many options costed extra per order. It was an interesting set up. They give the table 1 laminated menu and a pen. The table has to decide how much of each item they want and write it in. Apparently the menus are numbered according to table which is how they keep track of orders. They do warn you that they charge for food not eaten. There were no instructions on how to order or a check in of who has been there before. We came hungry so we ordered. Our orders took a long time to come. One of our tables didn't even get their order which makes me think their ordering system failed. Our food comes out but not all of it. They hand back the menus. We order again. Again it takes a while, but dishes sporadically come out and they keep handing the menus back. All of a sudden all these plates are coming out, some I swear we didn't order. We are trying to keep up, the finished dishes are piling up because the staff gave up bussing tables. I kept track of my personal orders and noticed the orders were duplicated and they were bringing out food we didn't order. The lady tried to bring the menu out but the math wasn't "mathing". There were bowls already in take out containers as opposed to the dine in bowls in earlier orders. This signals an expectation to take out. FYI dry erase can easily be changed by staff. Anyway we ended up with a ton of unfinished food and had to pay extra. I had to take home food no one ordered. It was a mess. I want to blame our large party, but my other coworker was there the same night with just her husband and even they were being handed food they never ordered. Do I think their system is a scam to get you to pay more? Absolutely. Would I go there for AYCE again? Absolutely not. Would I take out a small order? Perhaps. read more

Everything went perfectly smoothly. Me and my friends decided to come here spontaneously on a Saturday. I was surprise that it wasn't busy so we were able to find a table. I do recommend coming early because the parking lot does get full, we were lucky that someone was leaving. The food tasted how I expected to be, the 2 things that I ordered that weren't as good were the garlic chicken wings because it was so salty and the spicy ahi by itself, it didn't have much flavor. The staff are super friendly. I find the price reasonable and it helps that there's no time limit at the moment. Been a long time ahi and vegetable lover and I have to say they are easily the highest quality poke/sushi spot on island and the most consistent. I've been coming here for over 8 years now and never had a bad experience. The food is always the quality I expect and they just keep getting better. The all you can eat option has been such a treat, truly. Being able to order a wide array of food (not just sushi!) for one set price is such a score, and I commend the kitchen crew so much for their service because that menu is long! There really isn't any other spot where you can get fresh made nigiri, poke bowls, gunkan, fried foods, baked mussels, noodles, etc in one spot at the level of quality that ahi and veg has. The AYCE has something for everyone, even people in my life that don't like sushi or fish love to come here for all their other options because everything is just THAT ono! The service is always super attentive and kind, there are times they get busy and the service gets slower but they are never slacking on the job, I always leave here with a full belly and a sense of aloha from everyone on the ahi and veg crew. The atmosphere inside is super chill and welcoming for a casual dinner or hangout with friends and family. An added plus is their fountain drinks are really good, they got the mix down on those machines which may not mean a lot to most people but it definitely adds to the experience for me haha. Finally tried the AYCE at Ahi & Vegetable. Bring cash to save ~$1/person! As of February 2026, 2 adults cost $75.29 including tax (without tip). Upon walking in, my boyfriend and I were warmly greeted and guided to the seating area for all you can eat. Fountain drink is included in the AYCE rate. You can pay extra for sashimi. Tons of nigiri, rolls, hand rolls, fried foods and sides on the menu. You must finish whatever you order in a round before ordering again. Make sure not to waste! My tip would be to order more nigiri, as the rolls/hand rolls are made with a lot of rice. Very filling. Loved the miso soup! The service was good. Everyone is super friendly! We did the all-you-can-eat menu and I was really happy with our decision. I do wish the fish quality was a bit better for the ahi nigiri pieces I ordered, but overall the nigiri was good. I also liked that our first order came out on a sushi boat. Sashimi is extra per order, so I was fine sticking with the nigiri and the rolls we ordered were good as well. I'd probably stay away from the fried foods next time. About half of what we ordered came out burnt, so we let them know right away that we wouldn't be eating it (especially since they charge for leftover food). They were understanding and didn't give us any issues. Everyone was nice and helpful, especially since it was our first time there. The restaurant was pretty empty around 5 PM on a Thursday, but I imagine it gets more popular on weekends, especially with the BYOB policy. Since it's in Kalihi, I understand why kids' pricing is based on height instead of age, but it's something to keep in mind. My nephew is only 2, but he'd probably fall into the $19.99 price range. Parking isn't bad, but there's not much else to do in the area. Flavor is there but the fish was so thin I felt I was tasting the rice more than the fish itself. In my opinion save your money and visit sumo sushi the ratio portion of rice and fish is excellent. You will be full with just one round. Believe me or not I felt sick with all that rice in my belly. Went for the AYCE with my family. We looked at old menus on yelp and was most excited for the scallops on the AYCE menu. Its $35 per person and everyone has to get the AYCE for dining (cant do some AYCE and some ala carte). I would say a good value for all you can eat sushi especially nowadays. The scallop quality was amazing - would probably just order mostly scallops next time! The other fish was good, and quality was okay considering it is a buffet. My family wasn't a big fan of the salmon quality but everything else was good. The only complaint is that there is a lot of rice for each nigiri and it's hard to order a lot when you eat that much rice. They do have poke options without rice or sashimi (but extra $3 per order). The sides they offer are also very tasty - our favorites were the fried ika legs, choi sum, chicken wings, and baked mussels. They have a good variety of non sushi items too and you can definitely get your money's worth!
