Ahi Combo (Ahi Katsu + Creamy Garlic Butter Ahi)
    Kristian G.

I'm so glad I discovered Hoomana Fish--truly a hidden gem in the heart of Waipahu! Fresh fish, a super convenient location, and genuinely friendly staff...a triple threat. First off, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size. I ordered the Ahi Combo ($22), which comes with ahi katsu and creamy garlic butter ahi. My plate had six generous pieces of ahi, three of each. The plate could easily feed more than 1 person! The ahi was cooked perfectly: crispy on the outside for the katsu, tender and flavorful throughout. The creamy garlic butter sauce complimented the ahi very well. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the space looks newly renovated--clean, bright, and inviting. Also, in addition to their menu, they also carry snacks and condiments from local vendors: crack sauce, chili pepper water, baked goods, etc. Definitely looking forward to coming back to try their fried chicken or a poke bowl next time!

I was in Waipahu and seen this place and HAD to try it! They have fresh fish so of course I was expecting good food. I ordered Da Ahi Combo and WOW! Amazing!!! It came with ahi katsu & ahi with creamy garlic sauce, potato salad & rice. Let me tell you!!! Sooooo good!!!! The flavor was beyond amazing and everything had taste, nothing was dry. The creamy garlic sauce had a buttery garlic taste, so good! And the ahi katsu had so much taste and the fish was moist They were friendly and I didn't wait too long for the food. It was pretty packed with everyone eating inside. They have a couple of chairs to dine in but not a lot so take out if anything. Lots of parking. My plate was $22 not bad at all

Seriously good ahi katsu, garlic ahi, and fried chicken?!? Thank you bruddah Ramfis B for the rec. The ahi katsu equals that of Flyin' Ahi and is bested only by Ken's Fresh Fish in Laie. In other words, second best on the island. Quality, fresh ahi cooked medium results in a uber tender, moist center and crisp outside. It is finished with the Hawaii requisites siracha mayo and kabayaki . The garlic ahi, uses the same quality, fresh ahi. It is aggressively seasoned with salt then pan fried medium before being doused in a creamy buttery garlic sauce. The sauce is very garlic forward but with zero bitter oxidized flavor. Both can be ordered separately or as a combo for just a few bucks more. The fried chicken, winnah! Brined pieces of boneless thighs are simply seasoned before being dredged in a flour / starch mixture and deep fried. Ethereally crisp skin, uber moist inside. Eat it quick, the crispness will not last in a closed container. Fresh poke, a few other non fish plates and a burger also available. Note, food is made when ordered. Expect a 20 minute wait for the fried chicken. Super friendly, local service. A standout in the plethora of eateries in Waipahu.

Creamy garlic ahi was fantabulous! Everything was tasty but I really enjoyed this entree the most. Definitely bookmarking for future lunch spot due to value for portion size. Two people could share a plate if you're into that sort of thing.

Took a ride Waipahu to try Ho'omana Fish. I would say this is a takeout venue. Although there is limited counter seating. We were waited on by a young man learning the ropes and a women training him. Service was friendly. We ordered some sesame crab poke and limu Ahi poke. Also ordered bought two plate lunches. My wife had the Ahi Katsu . The ahi was a little dry, the potato salad was very good. I had the Beer Battered Mahi Mahi. This plate lunch came with fries. The fries were under cooked and soggy. The battered fish lacked flavor. The portions of the plate lunches were worth the price This is a new business so give them some time m e yo work out the kinks. Enjoy

Fried chicken/ahi katsu combo with no rice or salad

So I walk in and place looks nice and clean. I order the combo of ahi katsu and fried chicken with potato salad and no rice. Guy cashier says if I wanted anything else so I ask can I substitute anything for the rice. He say Mac salad or toss, I say toss would be good. Lady from the back tells him it's three dollars more for the toss salad, I say no that's okay. I guess there is no substitution for the rice. After a twenty minute wait which is fine as food is made when ordered, I get my takeout order and head home! I open my dinner to find no salad also! On the good side ahi katsu was a winner, chicken a little dry but tasty! Probably would have tasted better with potato salad on the side....

    Ahi Katsu

This was my first time at Ho'omana Fish Co after seeing it on social media the past few months. I was able to order on the phone and when I got there my order was ready. This was also my first time trying ahi katsu and I'll be back to get it again and again.

Always in search of Good Fried Chicken and on a recommendation by Braddah Manu P, he told me that this place in Waipahu called Ho'omana Fish Company get some Ono Fried Chicken so of i had to make a trek out to Waipahu and give it a try. As for the Fried Chicken, Braddah Manu was on point. The Fried Chicken was perfectly seasoned and was lightly dusted with flour or some other ingredient. Fried Chicken was light and crunchy and no bones to be found so it was easy to eat. Fried Chicken came out piping hot and it was nice and juicy. It comes with two scoops of rice and choice of Mac or Potato Salad. Not gonna lie the Mac Salad had a just a tad too much Mayo if you ask me the Rice was ok as well. But for the $15 price tag I feel it was good value and I heard the Ahi Katsu is really good too. They even got Fresh Ahi Poke and Local Style Burgers as well. It's only been a month since Ho'omana Fish Company has been open and I feel with time this place can get busy. They are located next to Hashi Okazuya in the Waipahu Festival Marketplace. They even sell other items like Chili Oil,Seasonings and Pickled Onions too. Give Ho'omana Fish Comapny a try. I really liked the Fried Chicken and I'll definitely come back here to try their other items. Support Local Businesses everyone -- at Ho'omana Fish Co. .

Might be a wait but it's so worth it , food is always awesome and tasty. The staffs is so welcoming even if they're busy they find a way to make it worth everyone's time to taste their food.

I wish I could give 10 stars this place is so amazing don't miss out eating here.from when you walk in you immediately feel like family and the service was amazing. I just wanna point out how clean the place was from the pass placards on the window to the ambiance inside was impressive. The food was even more incredible so much flavor they definitely know what they doing I got the ahi combo which had creamy garlic sauce and ahi katsu with 2 scoops rice and potato salad by far the best I had. I even got a quarter pound of the dry ahi Taegu that buggah is winnahs I highly recommend this place to you to eat thank me later.

Ahi Katsu n fried chicken combo

New place. Ordered the ahi katsu n chicken w potato salad. Everything was cooked perfectly! Katsu & chicken not overcooked or dry. They're very generous as you can see. Potato salad is really good too! Will be back to try the fresh poke next.

3/4/26 we ordered the Mochiko chicken and fried chicken plate. They make it fresh to order so food was hot, tasty and crispy I look forward to going back.

Delicious food and they give a lot for the price. 9 times out of 10 when I order ahi katsu, it's overcooked and dry.... But not here. This was cooked perfectly! Even the hamburger steak was bomb. Reminds me of old school homemade patties and homemade gravy. 10 outta 10.

For months, people have been telling me about their dried aku, and I kept saying "soon, soon." Well, soon finally happened, and I have nobody to blame but myself for waiting this long. Now, before I go any further -- yes, I forgot to take photos. I know. I know. But here's the thing: the moment that dried aku hit the table, all my food blogger instincts went completely out the window. It was just me and that fish, and nothing else mattered. The dried aku was everything the hype promised -- deeply savory, with that concentrated, almost smoky flavor you only get when something is made with real patience and skill. The kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. Absolutely ono. No notes. Next time -- and there will be a next time, probably very soon -- I'm going in for the laulau. I have a feeling it's going to be just as worthy of the word-of-mouth buzz. Watch this space. Azuma's -- go. Just go.

Laulau pleasantly surprised me as this was my first foray to Waipahu Highway Inn. Every time I got laulau at the Kakaako location the meaty (non fatty) parts of the pork was dry; this one was moist throughout, even in the meaty parts. Poi was good, especially mixed with the lomi salmon. Mom's squid luau was nice, came out hot, though it was a little sweet for her taste. The smoked meat was also a little sweet, though we know that's how they prepare it at H.I. Nice mix of smoky and sweet with the meat and onions. Finished with the haupia, which is standard and always dependable there. Like the old plantation feel and the old photographs of Waipahu all over the place, right down to the palaka decor. Every time I return I try to eat at H.I.

Always so satisfied with my visits. I do normally do takeout but keep in mind they charge a 5%…read morekitchen fee if you opt to dine-in.. a practice that seems pretty common nowadays. I'm not sure why they don't pool the tips or just raise the menu price but it is what it is. Service has always been warm and welcoming even when they were at their older location by McDonalds. I do love this location more than the Kakaako one. Stopped by yesterday for two tripe stew plates and to me, the to-go container containing the stew was a little small, but they were very generous with the pipikaula. Each plate was around $17 and it included rice, salad, and haupia. To me, that's still a very fair price. I had ordered online and my order was ready to go by the estimated time. The lot is extremely small and the spaces are tight so you may have to find street parking. They also have a points program so don't forget to sign up for bonuses and rewards.

For a change of pace we came here today and had a blast, why? Aisles are wide and clean. Merchandise is different. Their meat and veggie selections were varied and what I'd cook. We even bought lunch: Korean spicy bento for hubs and I tried the Cold Noodle Bar & the hot food counter to try the ahi patty and sweet potato tempura. The garlic fried chicken looked so yummy but then I saw a fly on the tongs. Maybe another visit. Total at the register was $167+. We had a nice grocery shopping adventure today.

They had 5 choices to choose from: Char Siu Pork, Miso Chicken, Spicy Pork Bulgogi, Smoke Meat and Teriyaki Chicken. These selections come with rice and your choice of Kim Chee, pickled onions or pickled cucumbers. I ordered the Char Siu Pork, Spicy Bulgogi and Teriyaki Chicken bowls with either pickled onions or cucumbers. After we all started eating, I realized I forgot to take pics of the food. I was bummed because I wanted to show how much food I got. All I can say is...for $6, they gave choke amount of food and it was very tasty including the side veggies! The following is what they're offering: - Monday: Kalua Pork Burrito - Tuesday: BBQ Bowl - Wednesday: Loaded Nachos - Thursday: Noodle Bowls - Friday: Kalua Pork Bowl, Mini Bento, $6/lb. Hot/Cold Bar, Select Sandwiches The 2 guys that were serving the food was very nice, helpful and friendly. Not sure if other days have more than one choice like today but I'm definitely coming back to try something else.
