Decided to stop by since I was buying some Huli Huli Chicken across the street. The Roast Pork was really good. Crispy and moist, they don't make it , they buy it from someone. There's so much going on in here but realized where the hot foods were or was! Couple time I've gone there and the item I wanted was gone! We were in Waipahu and dropped by Elena's for some Flip food. Unfortunately, Elena's was take out only, so we had some time to kill. DFM was across the lot, so we decided to stop by and see if they had any poke available. We were glad they did. Not only did they have some ono, spicy a'u (marlin) poke, they have so much Flip food stuff, I thought I was in Manila! In addition to poke, they have all kinds of fresh fish, and items you couldn't even find in a Seafood City. That's what I luv about neighborhood ethnic markets like DFM. They offer their clientele a taste of home, w/o all the stuffiness of the bigger chains. The staff was super nice emblematic of the Filipino welcomeness and Aloha fr the islands. The next time I am in Waipahu, I am def stopping by DFM for more good poke, and some other Flip food stuffs to snack on. read more

The worse grocery/market I went to. If i could give this a zero rating I would. Service are not so great given if you ask something they give you a sassy look and tell you a different price of the items. Other than that price here especially the vegetables are so fre*king expensive but the quality are so low. I bought a veggies and they are already rotten. Located in Waipahu, Hi. This market definitely fills a need. It's a general purpose market with emphasis on fresh fish (reef fish, bottom fish, small pelagics). Read your reviews and choose your poke wisely. This is not a connoisseur poke place but rather an offering of poke for local shoppers. My Tako(octopus) poke you could definitely tell it was prev frozen( many things are-such as premium grade sushi!: But you must do it right to retain the fresh quality upon thawing). I saw chicken parts and fish filets ready for the grill also. Also all the essential veggies necessary for cooking ethnic filipino dishes. Of course they have a hot table that you can order plates to go. One nice thing is that the store smelled clean and not fishy upon fishy as some fish markets. 2.5 yelps for improperly frozen/thawing Poke. Proun (Po-Káy) even though they're not trying to be known for that. 3 yelps Overall for the job they do and work! 3.5 yelps for the variety of fish they offer. read more

What a business! its like a fish market smashed into a grocery store, crashed into a fish auction, smushed with a vegetable cart and filipino eatery. And despite this mashup, the place does not smell to bad or look messy. Props to the owner's eye for that. It works! Okay, I would probably have given more (or less) stars had I known more about the items in the store, i.e. price, freshness, taste. But what I do know is that they had such a variety of fish and seafood. A wide wide wide range of fish like uhu, a whole barracuda (or ono?), slabs of mahi, etc. It was really impressive as they laid out on ice. I was so going to buy akule or opelu but I didn't know when I would be able to use it. Seafood included shrimp, blue crab, pipipi like snails (the big ones), and other stuff I don't usually see. They had made poke but by the time I got there, it did not look fresh at all. Lots of fresh produce on one section of the store, which is right next to the asian specialty canned goods. This is right next to the knick-knack stuff which seems to be owned by a separate person. And this is right across from the cooked filipino take out food which all looked good. Tons of the filipino desserts. So yum looking. This also looked like a separate owner. All and all, yes I walked out with nothing. But the reason I walked in was because I was looking for the big bag of chicharon I saw a guy breaking into on the side of the road (yes, only in Waipahu). You know what? I love how it opens early @ 7AM. So when me & my boyfriend goes fishing and doesn't get the bait the night before... We like coming here! We buy their akule for our bait because it's cheaper on most days and better and fresher than other markets. read more

I was in Waipahu and wanted an energy drink so I stopped here thinking it was a normal market. Far from normal. Fresh fish and meat and produce and a great selection of Filipino food. They make their own lechon, chicharron, dinuguan, and lumpia as well as a variety of other dishes which I cannot pronounce. I bought a little of everything. Amazing! I have now made a habit of stopping here every time I pass Waipahu. The lechon is even worth going out of my way, savory pork belly with skin attached. The meat is succulent and well seasoned, the skin is wonderfully crisp. Very conveniently they have parking, and the food is out as early as 7am. With lechon and dinuguan it's a good place for a keto snack. read more

Not much of a selection of fish esp local catch. Most are imported and not even fresh as evident by the reds in their eyes.

Most fish markets, smell well.... fishy, the cool thing about DA Fish Market is that it doesn't smell bad at all. The place is kept clean and the tanks are cleaned daily so it doesn't smell like dead fish. The price for fresh fish was unreal and the food was awesome. I would highly recommend DA Fish Market to anyone looking for fresh fish at a low price, as well as good Filipino food. read more

Especially for Filipinos in the area, this market is perfect! Fresh vegetables & fish, a lot of specialty seasonings and frozen foods, and the best avocado shakes. The cashiers even speak Ilocano (and Tagalog too I'm guessing). I went on a Saturday morning, and it's not crowded. The live crabs and fish were also super fresh. I'd definitely recommend to go here for all your Filipino grocery needs. Even if you're not Filipino, there's lots to check out here and i would still urge you to check it out. read more

I would not give them any stars cause the place smelled and it was filthy. Not only that, but the cashier rang up my 99 cents soda for $2.05. When I told her that it is only 99 cents, she told me that the bottling is 6 cents. I know it is 6 cents, but that doesn't account for the extra dollar she added to the tab. And if you go anywhere else and buy something for 99 cents and they charge you state tax, it is not a whole dollar. I think the business practice is unprofessional. The girl wouldn't even give me a receipt. All I saw her do was key in $2.05 as a sale on the register. I didn't see anything about sales tax or the 6 cents bottling fee! Very fraudulent! Don't buy anything here! How would you feel if someone just puts an extra dollar on your tab and pockets it? It is only a dollar, but imagine how much they get from doing that to everyone who buys from them? Very poor ethics. Any establishment who is crooked like this should not deserve to have a business. I want to support local business and small business, but when they want to steal from you and be sneaky, kinda makes you want to just go to a CVS or Target instead, right?
