Can never go wrong with Steak Out. They've been operating here for a while now and there arent many fast-food steak places anymore. They are very quick with making their plates and their food is always good. They weigh the meat as they are making the plates so you arent getting screwed as meat shrink while being grilled. Always quick service and they make it easy to prepare your own dressing and sauces. A great option for workers in the area. Will certainly be back when im in the area. read more

Never thought to review this place since it's kind of a regular place I have lunch at. It's on Pearl Harbor and close to my building. They have 3 types of protein, steak, chicken and shrimp. They specialize in their steak which for me is always cooked perfectly. I ordered their "special" that had 1 piece of BBQ chicken, 4 oz of steak (they weigh it) and 4 pieces of shrimp. Vegetarians beware Located on JBPHH next to the fleet store is Steak Out's concession stand. They also have a food truck on the Hickam side but we're not going there today. Similar to my Times Supermarket review (I know you read that) their serving styles are the same. You can get a plate or your steak by the pound. Don't let the name fool you, they do more then steak. They offer kalbi, chicken or a mix combo. Drinks are separate. For the plates, white or brown rice is offered with salad. I skip the rice and ask for extra salad smothered with ranch dressing. The rest is covered in the shoyu/Tabasco mixture. One thing you should know is the steak comes out more on the rare side for most people. They'll cook it more if you ask. Overall four stars. The food is good and if you want the gristle it's offered at no extra charged. Prices are high compared to other stands but good food ain't cheap and cheap food ain't good. Except top ramen. Steak Out is Joint Pearl Harbor Base's Best kept secret. I remember coming here 10 years ago when my husband was stationed at Pearl Harbor and they were located in the parking lot. I was pregnant with my son and would frequent this establishment 3X a week. I always ordered the steak which comes with 2 scoops of rice and side salad. We have recently moved back to Oahu and have reunited with this wonderful establishment. They are now located next to the NEX shoppette and and barber shop on the Pearl side of the base. The price has gone up (let's face it, cost for everything has gone up a lot on this island) but the steak is as ono as I remember it. Don't forget to slather it with the shoyubasco (shoyu mixed with tabasco) for extra flavor. My son constantly asks us to eat here several times a week. LOL! Almost forgot to mention how nice the owners are. We came here one day after picking up kids from half-day school day and owners were already walking to their car in the parking lot. Wow! This place is on point. The woman said to me as I passed by "just try a piece and I promise it is the best"! She didn't lie and I couldn't wait to place my order. The steak was the most tender and well flavored meat I could ever make. I sent my husband there the next week and he agreed with my assessment of this meat palace. Location: Barbers Point Golf Course. Okay, not much for décor, but get passed that, order the Loco Moco, (made with STEAK) and enjoy. It really is the best I've had and after having it, went on a quest to prove myself wrong. I couldn't. The staff there is trying to establish a patron following, so try them for breakfast or lunch. It's hard to find people who care about quality of the food, the service and they have nailed them both. They beat the new Eggs n'Things hand's down. No waffles, but they do have good food. OMG! If you are in the area, they recently opened up at the Barber's Point Golf Course, you must try some of their menu items. My favorites so far is their hamburger steak w/grilled onions and their pupu pork chops w/onions! The staff ppl are so nice, especially the owner, Jay...such a local nice, nice, nice man! He came out from the back and gave us ice cream! How's that? And he was chit chatting with the ppl asking if everything was ok and ask if we want to see sometbing else on their menu...was unreal! Hard to find this kine place now days! And guess what? His menu prices are so so reasonably cheap and for the portion sizes!
