On the same day I decided to check out I Love Grill restaurant on N School Street, I decided to peek in Provinces Snacks and see what they had for sale.
Province Snacks is a hole in the wall convenience store that you may not see if you're driving thru N School Street. The building where the store was located seemed to blend in with the landscape. It was my first time here while walking back towards Lanakila baseball field and Liliha McDonald's. My experience here at Province Snacks fairly brief, probably at most 5 minutes. As I walked in, the doorbell rang and I quickly scoured the area. I quickly found the refrigerators that held the various drinks that the store offered. I quickly looked at what was for sale and skipped the sodas that were represented. I also had a sad look on my face when I could have purchased alcohol, but it was still during the workday. I had to go back to work anyway, so that was out completely. And so, I spotted large bottle of imported tea product, which seemed pretty awesome. I wish she got two bottles which turned out to be about $6.50 per bottle. Nothing like supporting local business though. I shelled out 13 1/2 dollars for both of them and with tax came out to be $14 and something cents. The tea itself was sweetened a little bit, but not too bitter to be called ice tea. It was one of those Chinese branded teas that will sell in any Asian market. It was quite delicious and hopefully they would sell more of those. If you fancy and alternative shopping experience, and in the Kalihi area, consider coming to the Province Snacks convenience, store for all your shopping and grocery needs. Would be your local hidden jam when you dislike shopping at larger grocery stores I just want that special touch.
The overall experience here at the Province Snacks grocery store was typical yet nice at the same time. Casual yet inviting as well. The service here was very friendly and she actually said that the products that I was buying was pretty good and she drinks it every day herself as well. Not sure if she was the owner, but it was cool that there was a recommend for my product that I was going to try for the first time. The layout of the store was like a place where you would have a garage sale or something. It was very small yet stock to the full max. It was a small store but large enough to store alot of stuff. It was homey though, it felt like. I spent about 10 minutes here from start to finish. I enjoyed the service here, especially with the owner telling me how great the product is and she also drinks it every day for her health. For the most part, though, it was an interesting yet typical experience for me. Shopping here was good and neat at the same time because shopping local is always a good priority for all of us. The prices here are decent enough to where you can help local business, as well as be good to the environment and a good neighbor to those who may be needing it. And so, if you're in the neighborhood and would like snacks or drinks on your adventures in and around Oahu, consider coming to Province Snacks convenient store and enjoy what this store has to offer you and your family. It is definitely recommended when you shop and of course I did by coming here.
Province Snacks convenience store is located at 1324 N School Street in the heart of Kalihi, Oahu. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. As far as parking goes, your best bet would be to seek out any nearby parking in the adjacent surrounding areas. There is Very limited parking and definitely a headache when you try to find some on a busy weekday afternoon. Yeah if you are like me, your best bet would be to take the city bus to get here and there. Bus route number two and 2L service the area and comes close to the store. And so, if you want the alternative shopping experience and love to support local business, consider coming to this shopping Mecca that really provides the local community with an additional choice with shopping and a plethora of options you can use on a daily basis. Definitely go and check them out if you have not gone there yet. It is quite interesting, but I assure you that they do a good job in maintaining the store and providing you with the best product available. They are like an Asian grocery store.
4.0 stars for the overall experience.
