I found a lot of Mold on their beets and taro! They had a container labeled special special with some kind of pickled vegetable and when I asked this woman working there "excuse what is this" only to be shocked with her response. In a loud rude tone with her hands up holding papers replied "ask them" pointing to the back area. Of course no one was there so I waited and this young local girl working there was able to assist me. After I paid for my items I went looking for Yang and when I found her, I told her I didn't appreciate how rude she was and can't treat customers like that. Of course Yang denied everything. I asked a handful of workers where's the manager and they all acted like they didn't understood. I was going to contact and inform H Mart corporate office only to find this store location is not part of their company but an independent store. Discovered that there was an H Mart closer to where we were staying so we ddecided to pop in. Hmmm...this was a surprise for us. We are from the Bay Area, so our H Marts are newer and cleaner. This is not a legit H Mart like the ones in Kakaako and Pearl City. It's an Asian market where half the stuff is Korean and the rest is Filipino, Chinese, and Japanese. The market is small and run down. They have a small selection of produce but everything was pricey and some of the leafy greens didn't look fresh. I came to look for that mango shaped ice cream that's been trending. I did not find the ice cream but I did buy some beverages and snacks. They have the Lan Fong Yuen coffee milk tea which is from Hong Kong and the H Mart in Kakaako used to sell it but they stopped bringing it in. It was $4.99 each and there were 2 left so I grabbed both, win! They have a large selection of Asian drinks that are chilled and in the boxes. The boxes are stacked and already open so if you see drinks you want, just grab them yourself because there's no service from the staff. I didn't see any staff walking around to unbox or stock products. There's 2 cashiers at check out, they seem friendly but it was also a slow morning since I went before 10AM on a Saturday. Their price tags are yellow and red, same like what you see at Palama Supermarket so I'm guessing it's the same owner. I don't know if they have weekly ads or if they follow the Palama Supermarket pricing but I do like their variety of the Chinese beverages and snacks. I'd come back again to restock my snacks in the future. For parking, the spaces are tight and it's good if you have a compact vehicle. If you have a truck or mid-size SUV, it'll be challenging to get out of the parking lot so good luck. Smaller location than we are used to. Parking is REALLY tight and limited. We circled the block 2 times before getting parking. Lots of variety of Asian foods and fruits, veggies, drinks, meats. Depending on the time of day, it can get pretty crowded and the aisles are tight. We found a few items and went on our way. Don't forget to bring your own bags or you'll have to buy. I found out that this H Mart is not affiliated with the others on the island. That being said, I love coming here because the kimchi that is made here is one of the best that I can find on Oahu. The fresh banchan always looks so good - and the ones I've tried tastes yummy. Luau leaves are usually priced cheaper than stores like Don Quijote. Parking here is not the best - tight parking spots. It's really interesting how Asian groceries and culture is hitting Hawaii one trend or brand at time and I am absolutely loving it; it reminds me of the time I spent living in Nagoya. Fun fact: In Japan it's considered messy to eat while walking which is why so many grocery stores and convenience stores offer someplace to sit and enjoy your meal. H-Mart in Pearl City is a Korean supermarket that is right next to DonQ which is the well known Japanese supermarket. I don't know if it was intentional, but ever since a Korean store opened up next to Japanese store, my shopping has gotten so much easier! There's so many more options from fresh food, fresh meats, to frozen foods, even as simple as candy and snacks. The best part is they are only steps away from each other! It's almost as if my menu and grocery options have doubled! My biggest TIP would be to go to H-Mart for the best deals and variety of meat for shabushabu, yakiniku, etc. The specialty meat section in DonQ doesn't compare to the meats in H-Mart, but your best bet for vegetables for a good price is DonQ. Going back to the beginning of my review, don't forget to stop at the foodcourt area IN H-Mart for some fresh made Korean food, a bar, and a small bakery with fresh sweet and savory treats! After you check out just make a hard right, it may be hard to miss if you don't know about it! The food there is just right after a shopping trip and the seating area is so convenient! read more

This place is a pit. Lowest of all H Mart that I have been to. If you see photos of prepared food, fancy parking, restaurants... this is not the place. Parking is very limited and dirty. The surrounding area is very dirty and outdated. Once inside, you would know right away this store is definitely not up to par with other locations. The section behind the kitchen is boarded up from previous business. Very disappointing. There are no restaurants inside the building. Pics you see are for a different location. I understand that this store is located in Kalihi and yes Kalihi is typecast as being aged, lower class and shabby; I understand Kalihi is a few social classes below Kahala, Hawaii Kai, Manoa, Kakaako and Pearl City; I understand Kalihi is looked down on as being a working class neighborhood; And yes! It's safe to say that you will never ever see a Whole Foods, Safeway, Macy's, Louis Vuitton or Mercedes Benz dealership in Kalihi. We love browsing the aisles here because it's like visiting a foreign country in Asia without the plane fare. We always find cool snacks and noodles here. I like coming here for many items... lately the singapore laksa packages are my fave, those fish cake mozzarella sticks are perfect to just pop in the air fryer. Many other snack options and definitely the variety of asian ice cream!! Not just boba bars but frozen durian it's like eating durian ice cream or Melona Mochi ice cream!!! Their reward system, I hate because you have to sign up online and you show then your app each time. You bring back receipt if you're new member and they add in points for you. But if you lose it on your phone you can't just log in to get the same card number.... That part baffles me.... the app is only used for the card to scan... This place kinda reminds me of the Palama Supermarket and a little bit of Don Quijote put-together. They have a variety of groceries geared towards Korean foods. They sell fresh kimchee of different sorts and have produce items that you don't normally find in our local supermarkets. This store is located in Kalihi across the street from the King Street Zippys. The parking is really small and tight so I' avoid bringing large vehicles. The store is pretty large and clean looking. I just had a bad experience with the cashier name "Florinda" my husband and I bought ice cream and drinks for our twins, didn't bring card, just cash enough for the kids cravings, at first I was hesitant with the cashier, she's in close sign then she removed the sign, when my husband went to her, and so I followed but she's not focused as she was on the phone video chatting with someone, no greetings at all, it's okay for me, but there's next customer that put her little stuff next with me, and cashier still punching her stuff to my purchase, told her the items she includes wasn't Ours, told her twice but she' still continuing, literally not listening ,so I was upset told her that wasn't Ours, and she has the audacity to answer me back, " That's why I'm asking? but she never asks us"like her tone was more upset than mine, she never apologized, and she said because there's no barrier or divider, and so She includes the item, and she told the old lady, Auntie next time you should put barrier, The Auntie keep saying sorry to us,and so I told her, don't blame customer as you are at fault in the beginning for not being aware and focus. I bought a jar of kimchi, and as I opened the first piece, I found a strand of hair. When I went to return it, the manager, Chen, rudely told me to just process the return without even offering an apology. I asked if they used haircaps during production, and she sent me a photo showing only one person wearing a haircap while the other two were just wearing baseball caps. Hey wait a minute! Wait just a second! I remember reading a news article that said H Mart is opening its FIRST store on Oahu in Kaka'ako, across Down To Earth. The H logo is the same! Hmmm... Taking closer look, it looks like the H is stolen from H Mart, the MART is stolen from Wal-Mart, and the Super Market is the same from the Keeaumoku Super Market. Before that, it was Queen's Super Market! I think another name change is coming. If you didn't get the idea, H-Mart is a Korean store that's very similar to Palama and 88 market. They all see Asian groceries with mostly Korean goods. It's located at the corner of N. King St and Kaili St. It's very close to the Oahu Noodle Factory. I've never been to H-Mart before. There's a small parking lot, which will definitely fill up easily when it's busy. The inside is like any other Korean Market. It's clean, organized, and spacious. However, H Mart has a lot more variety of Asian goods, a lot more variety in Kim chees and prepared foods, and a lot more variety of produce. There's also a food stall and small seating area next to the entrance where you can grab really affordable Korean plate lunches and Korean sushi, and other prepared foods. Overall, H Mart is a quality grocery store to purchase everything you need. It has such a big variety and many specialty items that it's a one stop shop! The prices are pretty good as well. The staff are pretty friendly and nice. Too bad it's not a convenient location for me, but whenever I go to the noodle factory, I'll stop by! read more

Been coming to this place a long long long time specially for their FRESHLY MADE In-store "KIM-Chee" i believe new owners bought this place and now it's called H-mart *H-mart for what I know is all over Los Angeles area in California. So on JULY 19 Friday 2019 I needed to go H-mart for some LEMON, also also decided to see if they had SEAWEED SALAD, so when I got to the seaweed salad I checked the containers and when product was packed etc, then I noticed in 2 of the seaweed salad containers there was some WHITE color object thing in the container and that's when I look closely it was FUNGUS/FUNGI growing (SMH) So gross so I took the 2 containers to the workers and notified them about the product that they were FUNGUS/FUNJI inside the seaweed salad containers. And told them y'all need to check y'all product cause people can get sick if they eat this. All the lady told me was thank you So if you do go H-mart always check your products before you buy it. Hopefully these workers at H-mart will do their daily rounds on food products, cause if not man I know Probablly the DEPARTMENT Of HEALTH Might pay them a visit. International Grocery Store in Kalihi, Honolulu... The name of this store reminded me of H-Mart in Koreatown, Los Angeles. However, it turns out to not be related. It just has the same name! Anyway, I was curious, so I paid a visit and maneuvered through a tight, potholed parking lot with narrow parking stalls. I do appreciate the free parking! Inside, the store is neat, clean, and spacious! I found rows of ingredients, snacks, kitchen tools, and canned goods! There was a fresh seafood section as well as a frozen foods area. There was a kitchen area for made to order meals and a table of take out meals. I believe that I counted at least three areas with kimchee! There also was a fresh produce area and a refrigerator full of various beverages. I liked this store, even though there was a delusional guy outside the front door. He was yelling, saying odd things, and swearing at no one in particular. Eventually, he moved on. Haha! If you shop here, I would recommend the Korean sushi (Kim bop), the Korean desserts, prepared foods such as pancit (half off right before 9pm), and baked goods! I went to H Mart twice in one day (because they close at 9pm) and found out that the kitchen closes early... I'll have to figure out the kitchen hours! read more

So glad we got here before it got crowded because the layout of their parking lot is atrocious. Other than that we found so many goodies here. The best find was YOURS LEMON POWDER! As a Chamorro from Guam, this is the main thing you ask your family back home to send with care packages. $9.99 per can is pretty steep but I'm so glad I know I can come here if I do run out of my stash at home. Besides that I found so many yummy Asian snacks that I did not take pictures of. They have a lot more variety of the Buldak spicy ramen than other stores too! read more

It's really great to have more dining choices in town. One of our favorite dishes is soft tofu stew/soup (soon du bu), so were were eager to try the food court at H-mart, a Palama Market Snack Corner competitor. There were a few pluses, the prices are very reasonable and much lower than the standard Korean BBQ fast places like Yummy's. The sides and kim chee were excellent. Unfortunately, it's downhill from there. Perhaps we picked the wrong dishes and we are not taking any more chances with future visits. The soon du bu is an example of what bad things can happen when it's undercooked. Not pleasant at all to have borderline uncooked bay shrimp, green and round onions, and tofu. The undercooked round onions gives a bitter bite, the tofu was not smooth. We knew all was not good when the soon du bu came out, not at the boiling point and had to mix it up more and finally saw some semblance of heat. The meat jun had a strange dark color, not a good first impression. It was way too sweet, was molasses used? The meat jun was very dense, didn't have any of the fluffiness from the egg batter. The meat was a little on the tough side. Not a very welcoming environment with flies and mosquitoes flying around. After seeing dirty dishes on the other tables, I can see why. Sorry can't recommend this place. At least if you don't abide by the advice of this review, it won't cost you much to try. read more

This place has plenty to offerings, but their regular priced items, like most other places, are on the expensive side; perhaps, wait for the sales or only buy sales items will save some hard earned greenbacks. Their food court on the second floor raised my rating for this establishment to four star. Not a huge area, but many great offerings are available, including the world (?) famous Giovanni shrimp dishes. So, one does not have to make a special, long trip up north and wait in long line for the same dishes served by their signature Giovanni shrimp truck. read more

I just went to H-mart for the first time a couple of days ago. The parking lot is a little small, but there are adequate amount of stalls. The store is a pretty good size. They have a lot of dry and wet goods here. They have a lot of fresh vegetables, fruits, meats and poultry, seafood, and dry goods. They also have a Kim Chee Bar section where you can scoop out the amount of Kim Chee you wish to purchase, and then they weigh it. Also they have a food bar where you can order food to eat. They have a really good amount of selections to purchase. If you want Korean food to eat, and or to purchase groceries...come to the H-mart. read more

HMart in Kalihi seriously needs an upgrade. It feels dirty once you walk in. When you first walk in, there are hot foods to your left. The food looks good, but flies are flying all over because it's right by the door. The cash registers are up at the entrance, and cashiers aren't as friendly. Every time I go in, they're either on their cellphones or talking to one another. There is a good amount of vegetable options. I do like how they have a lot of Asian veggies likes okra, chili, and bitter melon. The have good looking kimchee and radish too. Their fridge looks dirty, sometimes you see loose fish, corn, or fish balls. It's weird how it's just out in the open. They do sell a lot of Asian seasonings which is nice because it's like a one stop place for spices. My papa loves to come here for the frozen meat. They have a good selection of Banchan sides and it's sold my pound. Fresh fish option, that can be cleaned for you from a certain time and some fresh shrimp depending on shipment or something. I do like how they have pork belly in the chopped up ready for make adobo style and they have lots of soju options. The main thing that really turned me off though was the actual cashiers. Not friendly at all and super rude. I went to check out my items, and while the lady is ringing me up, she was on a FaceTime call! She doesn't greet me, ask me how everything was, or even tell me my total. I was caught off guard with how rude. She was just going about with her FaceTime conversation. I could see the other person she was talking too. I just think that if you're frontline of a store, you should at least have some customer service. A fresh seafood section and I love their special secret spicy poke. Yummy!! Love they have the tea bags for fish or crab stock. Add it to boiling water to make stock. I have yet to see it again. Expired products & unsatisfactory customer service. Came here on 5/30 afternoon to buy some stuffs. Got home and found out the evaporated milk was lumpy and smelly - so I took a picture and brought the products back to the store immediately. Cashier was hesitant to refund us the faulty products worth $5 saying that we didn't shake the product right that's why it was lumpy :) EVAPORATED MILK IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LUMPY AND SMELLY MA'AM. She also assumed that we bought the products a long time ago when we literally there 15 minutes ago :) We have the receipt, bought the products 15 mins ago, and it was evidently lumpy and smelly and still took her a long time to make the decision to refund us. NOT EVEN A SINGLE APOLOGY, NOT EVEN ONE :) I'm pretty sure they put the lumpy and smelly evaporated milk back on the shelves. read more

Glad to see a h-mart on Oahu. Perfect stop for our family to stock up on some korean items for the week that we spent there. My parents can barely go a day wIthout kimchi so this was the perfect opportunity to grab some necessities. Stuff was definitely more expensive than the mainland for obvious reasons. This location is a bit old, run down, and not exactly the most inviting. It gets the job done though and we found mostly everything we needed. Tight parking lot but spaces available. Corner of Kaili St and N King Street plenty parking in the lot. This place is a "sleeper". People assume from the location in Kalihi it's older and run down..NO Way! Walk inside and it's very clean and well organized. They do an excellent job of keeping everything well stocked and clean. They renovated this place from the last owner and it's really nice to walk in and browse the fresh produce and so many aisles and aisles of various items. They have a really large selection of just about everything! I especially like the area you can purchase various types of Kim Chee sold by weight. So neat to try so many different selections without committing to a whole bottle..but if you like it then holy cow they even sell gallon bags of Kim Chee! They have ready sliced shabu shabu meats and fresh seafood as well. They have a large selection of beverages and so many types of flavored shoju and Korean beer as well. They carry so many varieties of goodies from Korea that you'll just want to walk up and down the aisles like I did just to check everything out!
