Bought this. 990 yen or $6.48 on Rakuten Japan, so about double the price here

I love this place! It's rundown, yeah, but it's like treasure hunting, that's if you don't mind digging through items boxes after boxes in an almost warehouse environment with concrete floors. At least it's well-lit and I didn't feel it's dirty. But beware of the expiration date on some items. If shopping in person is not for you, they're also on doordash. With so many selections (and they're adding more gradually as I've noticed), you can easily just pick out a bunch of stuff for pick up or delivery! I love how they're on door dash groceries so I can use my monthly credit. Check your order before you walk out though. More often than not I didn't get all the items I ordered or they didn't get every selection right (for items with different flavors or sizes). The staff have been friendly and helpful though. It helps if you speak mandarin too. Some of the best items I've had was the lo si fun. It's basically a giant pack of noodles with 6-7 different packets of ingredients to make a very elaborate bowl of instant noodles. Then not to mention the wide variety of Asian Lays chips, crawfish flavor, lobster flavor, cumin lamb flavor, you name it! It's not the nicest store but it's what I'd expect. Just for their selection, prices and how they're on DoorDash, I love it and I'm a regular!

After seeing their reviews wanted to see what this place is all about. Parking is on the street. Its building looks like an older warehouse on the corner of Cooke St Inside is quite massive with different sections of rooms with selves, stocked with all kinds of products mostly from southeast Asia. It's interesting to browse around & see different things , they put descriptions of the products in English as most of the packaging is in other languages. Prices vary depending on the product. Lot of snacks & Confectionery from the orient. Glad to check it out on this Sunday afternoon, something to do. You are on your own inside the store , couple of checkout stations in front!

Snack lovers, listen up -- 1-2 Buy is a hidden gem that you HAVE to check out if you're in Hawaii! When I say they carry unique snacks, I mean snacks you didn't even know existed -- I'm talking uni flavored chips, iberico ham chips, avocado chips, crawfish chips, grilled oyster chips... and that's just the beginning. Every aisle is a fun surprise and you'll find yourself grabbing things "just to try." But it's not just chips -- they have cooking ingredients, drinks, candies, and even toys. It's like a treasure hunt for your taste buds. And the best part? They're always rotating in new items, so every visit feels fresh. Sometimes they even have special discounts so keep your eyes peeled If I lived here, I could easily see myself dropping in multiple times a week. The service is always quick and the staff is super helpful and friendly here. Parking is mostly street parking -- depending on the time of day it might take a minute to find a spot, but there are a few spaces right next to the shop that make it easy if you time it right. Bottom line: If you're a snacker, foodie, or just love trying new things, 1-2 Buy is a must-visit. Don't leave Hawaii without making a pitstop here!

Went to the pop up at Pearlridge (old Inspiration furniture location). Various Asian items but not quite extensive as what the warehouse in Kakaako has. Creative flavors of Oreos (Coca Cola, birthday party), Pringles (Spicy Steak, Cucumber) & KitKats (Strawberry, vanilla bean, coffee). Grab an empty box & fill it up. No real line or direction on where to pay. Nobody around to decipher unknown items.

My box full of snacks $100 worth!

Love all the different types of snacks they have here that you can't find in your regular grocery stores. The biggest downside is the parking, there are only a few stalls in front of the store and most other parking is reserved for the other nearby business. Another negative is that one of the areas in the warehouse is poorly lit, which makes shopping more difficult in that particular area. The items are a little pricey imo but my family and I enjoy trying new and different snacks so to us it's worth the splurge. We will be back to try more new and unique items and replenish a few items we have already tried and loved!

10/12/24-update. We decided to swing by here and see the "new items" shown on Instagram. Sadly, we were disappointed. It's still messy here and signage and nutritional value is missing from most of the items. If you have the time and patience to Google translate everything, otherwise, I would pass visiting this location. Unless of course you can read Japanese, Korean and Chinese characters and ? Then you're way ahead of the curve! Awesome. Still pretty warm inside. Many items are hit and miss here. I did pick up what I hope are 0 calorie and sugar free items lol. Prices are not at a discount in my humble opinion. You can find a lot of the items at other Asian markets on Oahu. Yes, you can find Nama chocolate and Royce chocolate here but at a pretty steep price. It's kept in the refrigerated drink area. Use Cash or Debit card, to avoid a 3% service charge for credit cards. Not much service other than at the cashier area where you pay for your items. Overall: 3/5 stars

1-2 Buy is a store that sells overstock/expired items, such as chips, instant ramen, and beverages. The place hardly has any lights, and there are aisles of items that are not well labeled, and the pricing doesn't even seem much of a bargain. The selection isn't well-organized, and the two staff members aren't helpful, as they just sit in the front, chit-chatting. Honestly, you could just go to your nearest international grocery stores and find these in a more fresh state and, probably on sale, for a better deal. Street parking can be found in the area. +expired items +unhelpful staff +plenty of street parking

    Dubai Chocolate - Dark ($18)

Made my way to 1-2 Buy in Kakaako on a Friday after 3pm. Lucked out on parking next to their entrance on the corner of Cooke St. and Auahi St. (Waikiki side) since it's free and unfortunately there is about 4 stalls. However you can park metered parking along Cooke St. Went there to buy Dubai Chocolate ($18) when someone posted it on IG and to check out their other Asian snacks and blind boxes. Got the goods in Milk and Dark Chocolate. Also bought a couple chips and peach milk tea. The Milk Dubai Chocolate was sweet, however the Dark Dubai Chocolate was much better. Will be back for more, when they get it in stock again.

All I can say was I wish I remembered to take pictures, but I think I was too busy trying to keep my daughter's excitement in check. The selection was awesome, and we have been so happy with all the snacks and goods we found. I didn't have any issues with expiration dates, guess some others have. I think the only thing was I thought it would be cheaper than it was, Things were expensive. It may look like a discount store but it costs just as much as a normal grocery store.

Super fun place to come to wander or just explore the world of Asian snacks and foods. Considering that everything needs to be imported, the prices are really not that bad for the most part.

This is the spot if you're looking for international snacks! They have a couple of stalls on the side of their business but if there's no open stalls, you'll have to park on the street. Make sure to pay for your parking on the street!! While I was there I saw a few cars getting tickets! If you're outside, it looks like a typical warehouse but it's inside where the fun begins! It's really hot inside since there isn't any AC or much ventilation but that's perfect if you only but a couple quarters in the parking meter and need to hurry. There isn't much information in English on the items so I tried to look at the pictures on the packaging. I know others mentioned the high prices but many of the items I've found here, I haven't been able to find on the island. Also ordering the items online would probably cost even more. I've been here more than once and haven't had any bad experiences with the cashiers/staff like others have mentioned. Although the days that I stopped by there weren't too many customers so maybe they weren't stressed?? Not too sure. It's always interesting to stop by since they tend to add to their inventory. Every time I stop by, I always end up buying something since they all peak my interest!

Don't expect anything fancy in respect to a shopping experience. This is a warehouse and it's a bit dusty. My daughter and I have asthma and hayfever so, next time we'll have to take our medication before we walk in the door. Everything we purchased was reasonably priced compared to Nijiya and Don Quijote. There are lots of Asian potato chip flavors, soft drinks, dried snacks, etc. that you can't get in our local grocery stores. I was surprised to find rock sugar/candy at a reasonable price. That stuff is really hard to find in bulk. They also had a limited selection of beauty face masks, and Asian (Thai and Chinese) cooking ingredients, powders, hot pot base, and other things that I could not read the labels because they were not in English. There were also a limited selection of Asian microwave meal dishes. There are 3 separate rooms to the warehouse for you to explore. They have a large refrigerated drink section is you want to try a particular soft drink before you purchase a case. This place takes credit and debit cards but there's a 3% charge for credit cards. There is no additional fee for cash or debit cards. You can bring your own shopping bag or, similar to Costco or Sam's Club, they have a stack of boxes that you can put your items in. They have little rolling carts you can use while shopping. Plan on grabbing the lightweight stuff first and the heavier items like sodas when you stand in line to checkout. There are a few parking spots on the side of the building, but it is very limited. Street parking is your best bet. This place is located on the Maura-Diamond Head corner of Cooke and Auahi Streets. Overall it was interesting to roam around and check it out. Next time, we will be better prepared to shop now that we know what to expect. Based on our experience I would rate it a 3.5.

Where's the best place to park? From the pictures, it looks like there's 3 spots and not much street parking.

They have additional parking stalls around the corner of the warehouse, next to Tesla. You'll see stalled marked with "1-2 Buy".

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

Small kid time I remember use to be Holiday Mart, then Daiei and now Don Quijote. I use to love shopping here with my parents for the dipped yogurt ice cream, I think they use to have an ice crem shop at the front of the store. During middle school days we would come here for Sanrio & Leigh's Wishing Well when laminated, personalized cards were popular. Now darn I try to avoid this shop, as much as I LOVE all the products, my wallet doesn't, hehe. I have a habit of buying every single thing. Lets talk about this recent visit, I only need 3 item which is mentaiko to make mentaiko pasta, bread to make garlic bread and natto since I needed a natto fix. I had to get out there quick and try not to stop at every section, hehe. Ended getting extra stuff but all good, I was happy with the extra goodies! Don Quijote does get crazy with parking, lines, feeling of clutter here but despite that I LOVE shopping here & the prices are low, if you can catch it on sale, even better! Don Quixote? The titular protagonist of Miguel de Cervantes' 17th-century Spanish novel, often considered the first modern novel? No, not him. Side-quest unlocked: Go to Don Quijote to looks at Trader Joe's-like bags and peruse affordable macadamia nuts. Imagine if a Japanese convenience store, Costco, Walmart, Japanese pop culture, and a late-night snack gremlin all moved into one building and decided to co-habilitate. That's Don Quijote, or as locals lovingly know it: Donki. Don Quijote is Japanese discount megastore in Honolulu where you walk in for one bottle of water and somehow leave an hour later with Japanese cheesecake, body wash, a rice cooker, novelty socks, a plush penguin, Spam musubi, an ankle brace, and at least one item that made you say, "Well, I've never seen that before." Every aisle is an adventure. It's part grocery store, part pharmacy, part souvenir shop, part beauty supply, part snack paradise, and part "why are they selling this and why do I suddenly need it?" The shelves are packed to the ceiling, the signage is loud, the deals are good, and the whole place feels like a treasure hunt designed by someone who drank three Red Bull Kyoho Grapes and said, "More products! More fun! No empty shelf space!" The Honolulu location is also gloriously open 24 hours, which means it serves a very specific and beautiful type of chaos: jet-lagged tourists like myself, night owls craving Japanese curry, and people making questionable but spiritually necessary 1:11 a.m. purchases. TL;DR, Don Quijote is less of a store and more of an experience. A slightly overwhelming and delightfully unhinged retail adventure.

Once I was looking for fresh wide noodles to make Pad Kee Maw ..they didn't have but they suggested the restaurant on the corner had! They assured they sold the noodles plain in plastic bags..and yes, the restaurant sold the noodles! Cheap too! Today's visit I walked in and told them I going to make Tripe Laab.. the aunty behind the register pointed it out and the other aunty told me to follow her ..not only did they show me, but explained what it does and other alternatives that were available just in case the more specific ones weren't available. There was another customer in there at the same time..I'm assuming she was a regular ..she looked at what I put down on the counter ..started talking in Thai to the worker....she then turned and looked at me and already knew what I was going to make .. she ended up telling me to put back when I got and instead told me to follow her and showed me the "homemade better version" of what I first got.. I was so impressed at the help even by a random person who didn't even work there! I'm definately looking forward to making Tripe Laab this long weekend. Fur future Thai/Lao dishes, I will definately be coming back here for the items I need. A must store for Thai/Lao and SE Asian ingredients!

Don't be confused that it says Palama and it's near Ala Moana!…read more What can I say except I have been visiting this market for really forever. My family has been shopping this market as at one point in time, there weren't a lot of Korean grocery options. (Our mom is Korean btw.) I love that they mix goods sourced from Korea as well as local produce! Also, their prepared foods are tough to beat and their food counters inside are amazing! Check online for weekly sales and hours of operation for the different locations. They also have social media which features new/trendy food and product! So easy, convenient, and nostalgic! Forever a Palama Supermarket stan.

I've been here many times, and there are a few items I come here for - sliced beef for shabu, their kimchi, their banchan like mushroom and tripe are delicious. I also like their snacks as well, also the instant noodles. Parking can be a little crazy as the lot is tight and many cars come in and out, but there's also upstairs parking up the ramp if you really need it. On the left side of the parking lot is a locksmith / key guy. He can copy any key you need, even if it's the bigger key that Home Depot can't work on. Also, there's a little food court inside. Don't forget to order some fried chicken at Von's too, and check out the other food stalls as well! For these many reasons, I like to go to Palama market 2-3 times a month.

The side kick…read more.. Banchan has been the item that I've always looked forward to whenever I order a plate and never really knew that it had a name and as everyone has their favorite so did I and there are a few places that you can find some yummy banchan I had no idea about Hawaii Banchan Company but know that Elite Peter Y had gotten some snacks from there that I enjoyed and knew that I had to give them a visit one day...where!? You can find them right on Kapiolani though you can barely seem them from the street view as it's not the prominent located spot as they're located right below The Republik right beside the ramp where you can find several parking stalls it shares with other tenants. Open daily except Sunday I love how clean and spacious the shop is where each item is labeled along with price so you know without picking up the item to search makes browsing very easy with items like drinks, snacks both savory and sweet and of course display case filled with various banchan. Love the convenience of this location and now know that I can now find some of the unique items they carry and though I didn't walk away with banchan on this day know that my cravings will certainly bring me back. Thank you!

A lot of interesting Korean groceries here. And except for the hot food in styrofoam trays,…read moreeverything is imported from Korea! I got to try some real Korean kimchi. It's sour with good umami flavor. I'm not a real Korean so I prefer kimchi that is a bit more fresh and not as aged, but I can see how some would like it. I also tried their japchae made in house. Not bad, but definitely not the best I've had, not enough sesame oil for my taste. They also have the popular fried strawberries snacks for sale. I also got a frozen musubi and some abalone congee to try. (The congee is really tasty!) There's also the famous fancy hotel kimchi for sale here if that's what you're into. All the products look interesting!
