H Mart in Kaka'ako is a quintessential Korean supermarket. Lots of selection of fresh and local produce and grocery items you would find in an Asian market. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The store is bright and clean. Parking is available in the adjacent garage. Spaces are sized for compact vehicles.

I love this place. Not only do they sell Korean grocery products, but they have Giovanni's upstairs in their food court. They ramen and snacks are great. I'm mostly here for the live blue crab. It's $9.99 a pound and I usually get two pounds. Shipment comes at random times, so it's hard to know when they have it. Luckily, my homie does security here. He calls me when it's in. They sell produce and meat like any other grocery store. They also sell poke and sashimi. It's ok, but not the best. I love Korean ice cream. They have a whole section full.

Maybe I'm spoiled with the Pearl City location but goodness this one could use some work! Carts that roll properly are hard to come by, aisles are very small. Produce section is minimal. Parking in the garage is $3.99 for 1.5 hours & the garage is very tight.

Park in H-Mart customer parking stalls in the parking structure at 440 Keawe St or find street parking.

You can park in H-Mart customer parking stalls in the parking structure at 440 Keawe St or find street parking. For the parking structure, the first hour is free with validation. The store entrance is on the makai side of the building, which is next to the parking structure. Even though this H-Mart feels initially underwhelming, it's on-par with my experience in the mainland. H-Marts in Seattle were small and cramped feeling but the ones outside of the city (ex: Lynnwood) were much bigger and had more selection. This H-Mart does have a decent selection of produce, frozen items, meats, cookware, small electronics, etc. There is a seafood counter where you can order fresh/previously frozen whole fish. You can have them prepared in different ways (I forgot to take a photo of the sign that shows examples). There is a very small heated cabinet with bento and grab-and-go foods on the first floor. Otherwise, if you want something hot and filling to eat, you will need to check out/pay for any items first before heading to the second floor where the food court is. It's kind of awkward because you have to walk in a circle since the stairs/elevator to get to the second floor is in the middle of the building but I get that they're trying to prevent thefts. We stopped by at around 11:30am on a weekday. Surprisingly, Giovanni's (like the shrimp truck) was the only vendor that seemed to be very busy with lots of customers! I didn't walk around but it seemed like the rest of the food vendors were Asian food themed, including Ireh, if you're familiar with their restaurant. If you're in the mood for something sweet/cold, there's a desert place next to the stairs that serves milk tea, donuts, shave ice, etc. I feel like Palama Market has more selection, wider aisles, and it's closer to me. I would come back to this H-Mart again if I was in the area, though I wish they had more grab-and-go foods, bentos, and fresh banchan available.

This is one of my go to store if I'm in need of ramen, snacks, precut meats for yakiniku, shabu shabu, hot pot, BBQ, sukiyaki, you name it, they might just have it. They also sell seafood such as periwinkle, fish, squid and huge clams! They are almost her size of my palms. The vegetables are fresh but a bit pricey. H Mart is also one of the few stores that sells fresh quail eggs. I got to the store before 9:00 am so it was nice and quiet. It was the perfect serenity for buying what you need and getting out before the crowds makes you forget that you came for ;) The cashier aren't too friendly but it's ok. They are the last people you encounter just before you exit. It would be nice if they said hello or thank you or something. I'm giving them a 4 stars for the wide selection of items they import from food to drinks to snacks, ready to eat meals and housewares. And if you love tteoks (Korean rice cake) like I do, this is one of the place that carries a variety from garaetteok (plain, cylindrical rice cake, mujigaetteok (tri-colored rice cake), chapssaltteok (glutinous rice cake with filling), baekseolgi tteok (white snow rice cake), and so much more. Parking is inside the structure of The Flats at Puunui. The first hour is free with validation and minimum purchase of $5. The store is open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm everyday.

We got Kahuku shrimp plate & ate it so fast I forgot to take pics. And this Goldmiss sandwich, it was heaven. It was soft, fluffy & flavorful. Not to mention it's only $5! Tasted like those sandwiches from Japan. I can eat this every hour & that's dangerous. I'm gonna add this to my cheat day...

Where do I start. Very difficult dealing with every time you come here we try to be kind to the cashiers in the staff and they just ignore you. There's not a thank you. Hello no common courtesy. Then you buy an item and it had an expiration date of last week, but you're too tired to go all the way back and turn it in and this is like the third time that's happened.. health department needs to do a hard look at some of the business practices these guys follow. We will continue to try to be kind, but very standoffish staff . Sad. Updated review .

It is so nice to have an Asian grocery store and food court located in the heart of downtown Honolulu. In a pinch when I can't make it to the grocery store I can easily walk to H mart to purchase my ingredients. The downstairs location is filled with many types of seafoods, drinks, vegetables and sauces! You can wander the tight aisles for a while examining the different ingredients. The prices for the grocery items are fair and not outrageously pricey. However, upstairs food court is another type of surrounding. The area is spacious with plenty of seating and there are a few restaurants from fried chicken, desserts, drinks, local fare. The prices for the lunches are a bit higher but I think it's because of the monopoly of Asian food court in the area. A lot of these establishments are serviced by small business owners. Very no frills and not too helpful. I did order Korean fare on my last trek there and thought spending $30 for 2 dishes a little not worth it. I would like to return another day to try Giovanni shrimp or ice cream or the mochi donuts!

Where to begin!? We love love love our visits to town because it means a trip to HMart! This is hands down our go to place for frozen dumplings! Our obsession first began by watching Strictly Dumpling on YT. He does a ton of reviews on HMart products... dumplings, noodles, Kim chee, rice cakes. Drool city! This location does NOT disappoint! They don't have ALL the products that may be shown in some review videos for the overall chain but with sooooo many amazing options, we don't mind! They also have an amazing selection of frozen Korean corn dogs and specialty drinks. We discovered basil seed drinks here but we haven't been able to find them anywhere since COVID so we worry they may not be produced anymore. Boo. Sadness. Oh but the corndog selection? Potato covered (my favorite cuz it's like having French fries with each bite... YUMMERS), fish cake filled, cheese ones too! Seaweed salads and Kim chee in soooo many variations! It's a tad tight in the aisles but it's still spacious enough for me to maneuver with my smallish electric scooter or wheelchair. There's an elevator in the middle of the store to get to the food court on the 2nd floor. Local brewery and Black Sheep Creamery for afternoon cravings. If you love coffee ice cream, the BSC Mojo Jojo is AMAZING!!! Hubs always grabs a Giovanni hot dog... they are straight up addicting with extra sauce!! Oh and if you love Dalgona coffee or Japanese toast sandwiches, Teasket Toasket has broke da mouth options. Did I sell it enough??

Don Quixote? The titular protagonist of Miguel de Cervantes' 17th-century Spanish novel, often considered the first modern novel? No, not him. Side-quest unlocked: Go to Don Quijote to looks at Trader Joe's-like bags and peruse affordable macadamia nuts. Imagine if a Japanese convenience store, Costco, Walmart, Japanese pop culture, and a late-night snack gremlin all moved into one building and decided to co-habilitate. That's Don Quijote, or as locals lovingly know it: Donki. Don Quijote is Japanese discount megastore in Honolulu where you walk in for one bottle of water and somehow leave an hour later with Japanese cheesecake, body wash, a rice cooker, novelty socks, a plush penguin, Spam musubi, an ankle brace, and at least one item that made you say, "Well, I've never seen that before." Every aisle is an adventure. It's part grocery store, part pharmacy, part souvenir shop, part beauty supply, part snack paradise, and part "why are they selling this and why do I suddenly need it?" The shelves are packed to the ceiling, the signage is loud, the deals are good, and the whole place feels like a treasure hunt designed by someone who drank three Red Bull Kyoho Grapes and said, "More products! More fun! No empty shelf space!" The Honolulu location is also gloriously open 24 hours, which means it serves a very specific and beautiful type of chaos: jet-lagged tourists like myself, night owls craving Japanese curry, and people making questionable but spiritually necessary 1:11 a.m. purchases. TL;DR, Don Quijote is less of a store and more of an experience. A slightly overwhelming and delightfully unhinged retail adventure.

There is nothing better than a freshly baked bagel, except a fresh chicken musubi. I do enjoy the furikake being mixed into the rice and not clumped up under the meat. The chicken is boneless white meat, lightly seasoned, lightly hand breaded and fried. So lovely for breakfast! Definitely NOT a Foodland Farms, with a salad bar, hot bar, juice bar, etc..but a much loved store in the Dillingham area. So much parking, even though there is ongoing construction next door and the morning staff are so nice and helpful! Treat all customers like family. Thank you Foodland!

There's…read moreprobably more poke than rice, and nothing else, so if you're looking for other sides, might want to buy some more and dole them out. Unfortunately since we were traveling, we didn't want to buy so much food and end up with leftovers. Instead of buying two servings of the poke bowl, I think we would have been better off sharing because eating the whole bowl as is, got tiring for us. We also did have another poke place earlier that day and felt Foodland's poke was not as fresh. Service was ok, wished they would have explained the menu a bit, but maybe this is more for locals. Since this was in supermarket, ambiance for eating isn't really a thing here. I do wish they had some seating inside or even outside to enjoy. I'd probably recommend Foodland's poke for value.

The aisles are fairly wide and while it's busy, I can usually navigate this store easily. I've always enjoyed the selection of items from the bakery section--I like coming here for just a cake slice or single piece of cheesecake sometimes. One thing that does annoy me is that some of the aisles are now locked up and need a customer service associate to come unlock the display and give you your item. When I have a choice, I will wait and go to another place that doesn't lock items up like that. I would rather the store pay more for security and loss prevention than to inconvenience shoppers and make them get customer service to unlock items. That's just me. Good variety of items, helpful clerks at the front. Just wish I didn't need someone to help me unlock my items.

It was a moment of connection. She greets us like neighbors, remembers the little details, and makes each visit feel personal. For a few minutes, time slows down. We're not just passing through the checkout line, we're being welcomed, acknowledged, and cared for. Timaree is the clerk who, 10 out of 10 times, brings the most genuine kindness and customer service I've experienced at Safeway, and honestly, anywhere. Warmly, June & Matthew

I haven't tried their hot and ready foods, but the foods that we get to cook with are top notch in quality and value. Hubs is one of those guys who will drive the cart and add what he sees and wants to try, so when I just need one or two things, I leave him home. What can I say, sometimes willy nilly shopping can get expensive! The staff are all friendly and helpful and they have spotlighted areas in Japan which rotate regularly. If you want to know what area they are spotlighting, I suggest getting on the digital mailer so you can see the sales and specials. If you are a fan of wagyu and kurobota pork, this is your spot. When I make sweet and sour spare ribs, this is the only place that I can find the ribs cut long way (makes for more meat and easier eating). If you are a fan of hot pot, they have soups ready to go. They also have veggies and noodles premade and all the cuts of meat for that shabu shabu experience. The construction on the rail makes the entrance a little tricky depending on what side of the island you are coming from, just know there is a back entrance behind the gas station.

I really enjoy the hot food line they have. Everyday there's different dishes they have you can purchase for plate lunches. The store is pretty clean. The only thing is that the store needs to have the floor fixed and redone. The floor has cracks all over the store. Plus the floors are uneven. If you leave your shopping cart unattended, you may see your cart rolling off in different directions due to the uneven floor. The staff is friendly and helpful.

One of my fondest childhood memories is going to Tamashiro Market with my dad…read more When we lived in Kalihi, this was our usual spot. And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood
