I stopped by Walmart after work hoping to cash my paycheck since my bank had already closed by the time I got off at 4:00 PM. I went to the Money Services counter, where I was told the fee to cash my check would be $8, which I was fine with. The associate tried twice to cash my check, but both attempts were denied. She told me she couldn't do the transaction and went off to lunch. I tried getting someone else to help me but he stated he was an operator not a manager. So her co-worker explained to me that it wasn't an issue with my identification. At first, I thought it might have been because the address on my passport wasn't current, so I provided another form of identification along with a piece of mail showing my name and mailing address. Unfortunately, that didn't make a difference. The associate explained that it may have been because it was my first time cashing a check of that amount at Walmart and suggested that I go directly to my bank instead. While I appreciated the associate's efforts in explaining it to me, the experience was still extremely disappointing. I had planned to use the money to buy groceries, but since I couldn't access my funds, I had to return everything I had picked out and leave empty-handed. It was a frustrating and discouraging end to an already long workday. I understand that policies and verification systems are in place for security, but I wish there had been a clearer explanation or an alternative solution to make it right with me. I was so disappointed, I just deposited the check through my own Chase mobile banking. A bank I haven't used in over a year and a half since I moved to Hawai'i. To make matters worse, the employees started discussing my situation in the corner in Tagalog as if I wasn't right there. I wish people didn't do that. Speak in another language thinking other people don't understand you. I speak Visaya, English, and Tagalog by the way. I was born in the Philippines and understand the language... It was just a very discouraging encounter. I walked out of Walmart trying not to sob because after two weeks of waiting for a paycheck, and not being able to go to the bank with my work hours, it's been incredibly difficult to have money in my pocket. I was really counting on Walmart to take care of me today. So, reluctantly, I took a picture of my check instead and deposited it through my mobile phone and now I have to wait days for it to go through. What a rough day. read more

WTH??? Store opens at 6:00 but fitting rooms won't open till 7:00. Staff at service desk were incredibly hostile and rude about it. Line of people needing to try on clothes for back to school. They told me there was no manager available either. Fitting room should be open at 6:00 a.m and full store open hours. Went down the road to Target for a much more pleasant shopping experience. They have an entire section of souvenirs and treats meant for tourists to take home. Aloha shirts and dresses at very good prices. This on top of all the other value items Walmart is known for. Always busy here at the Keeaumoku location. Security guards, welcome greeters and mostly smiles abound. Just outside the entrance to Walmart can be sketchy at times. Today the police and security presence was duly noted. Here to pick up birthday card packs for my Dad. Value packs are great. Side tracked to the craft sections and picked up a few patches. I couldn't resist it. Service was fast and friendly here. I didn't go to the self checkout lines as it was crowded. The assisted check out had no line! One of the best spots to grab all of your island souvenirs and snacks at more affordable prices than the countless gift shops and ABC Stores in Waikiki. They have entire aisles of Hawaiian apparel, souvenirs, chocolates, and macadamia nuts! We love getting the Hawaiian soaps and luggage tags here! The parking lot to this Walmart is shared with Sam's Club, so if you go here during peak hours, expect a massive backlog of traffic and patrons entering/exiting the lot. While I was able to find a parking spot in under 10 minutes, it wasn't without some unconventional maneuvers. As this is close to Waikiki, there are a lot of unfamiliar drivers which also make it a challenge to drive and park. Inside, the Walmart is typical, and unremarkable. The souvenir section is close to the entrance which is convenient. It also houses an L&L Hawaiian barbecue inside, and it was reasonably quick at taking orders and serving patrons. Staff were polite and greeted everyone who came in nicely. I'd probably go out further to another Walmart if I have the time, and would only go to this one if I had no other shopping options. read more

Your denial in granting a refund for duplicate keys not working after using your Minute Key kiosk is poor customer service practice. If your policy is to contact the mainland vendor when requesting a refund, even with a customer service number labeled on the kiosk, you should have an obvious sign posted on ALL of you independent kiosks, so that the customer is aware. When you grant a kiosk to occupy space in your facility, you are basically saying that you approve of and stand behind their service. When mainland bread is stale, or a product that you sell is broken on packaging, you don't tell the customer to call the number listed on the package. Your Customer Service department issues a refund. This should be no different with Minute Key. I even took a video of the four keys not working, with the master keys also demonstrating that it works. Walmart, you are much better than this. I should have gone to City Mill in the first place. This is like stealing money. Saying ,"Sorry," is pitifully weak. read more

Now, Hawaii has everything. Target, Costco, Walmart, Sam's Club, etc..... However, I go a ways back. I remember when the first Kmart opened in Hawaii in 1992 on Nimitz highway. . It was such a big thing, people were lined up for hours, wrapped around the building just to get into the store. Now, Kmart is long gone... How times have changed.... This is a very nice store, just off of Kapiolani Boulevard, , close to Waikiki. It's only about a 10-15 minute walk or so from Ala Moana center. There is lots and lots of parking available There's the Walmart, and then there's also a Sam's club on the upper level of this complex. The store was very clean, and everybody I dealt with was very friendly. It has what you would find in any Walmart, as well as a very large souvenir section, they have beach toys beach towels, swimwear, they have aloha shirts, Hawaiian T-shirts, they have Hawaiian chocolates and candies, little chotchkis, and lots and lots of any type snacks you need. When it comes to snacks and souvenirs, these guys are like an ABC store on steroids. Prices are typical Walmart prices. Reasonable. The only reason I'm taking off a star, is because the store is downtown, every now and then you might see a sketchy looking person or two hanging out, but security does a good job of keeping them moving. Everyone has been to Walmart at some point of their lives. It's nothing special and often overlooked. This Walmart is near Ala Moana Center which is convenient for tourists and residents in town. The parking lot can be a mess and some stalls are wider than others. They did invest into charging stations with a 3 hour maximum time limit for customers only. Hopefully that will open up soon. This Walmart offers all your typical items but also a "grocery" section too which is nice for all those people shopping for groceries at Walmart. Their rotating holiday section is always popular and the Hawai'i section is great for those looking for gifts to take with them back home or to visit friends/family. The reason why I decided to review them is because I recently had to get Passport photos taken. It is required for the IDP I applied for and I didn't want to pay a lot at AAA. Last time I needed them, I did it at Walgreens but they are no longer here. Previous time before Walgreens was done in Chinatown but with crime rate up and all the homeless people there, I didn't want to risk it just for Passport photos. Parking in Chinatown around the spot for Passport photos is also an issue. I called Walmart to confirm they did it and they do in the electronics section of the store. It's in the back of the store for those not familiar. I stood in line at the register in electronics and the Walmart associate was helpful when it was my turn. He advised me to sit on the stool next to the register in front of a white backdrop. I did as instructed and he took two quick photos. He showed them to me and I approved. The associate told me to come back in 30 minutes and it'll be ready. I went to check out Sam's Club and came back in 20 minutes. His coworker recognized me from earlier and got my photos then took payment as the original associate was helping another customer. This was a quick and very positive experience! It's a typical Walmart, but this location's primary strength is the people watching. All sorts of walks of life going about their business. I remember when this Walmart was a 24/7 operation, it was always so interesting to see the night owls there! Two other strengths of Walmart- curbside pick up and item look up/location in the app. It is a breeze to order something, get confirmation it's ready for pickup, park in a pick up lane, notify which lane you're, and wait for the pickup to deliver your item! Minimum order for curbside pickup is $35. As for the item look up/location, I use constantly! Despite the different layouts of different stores, I can check if the store has it in stock, and the aisle it's in. It really speeds up more shopping and makes it more efficient! First time using the shop online app and delivery - giving it 5 stars because wouldn't allow 10 stars! Now that we are older we decided to try this app and were pleased how organized and easy it was! Download Walmart app and go to shopping. You can select whatever items you want to add to cart and it will show you how much you are spending before you check out. You have to select if you are picking up or want it delivered. There is also another area that you go to in app that allows you to give specific instructions on the delivery- where to leave, what intercom number to press, etc. The charge for delivery same day within 3 hours is $12.95 which includes tip. There was a promo for free delivery first 30 days. After we paid, received a text immediately they had received order and then received a text from ANDY saying he was starting our shopping list and would let us know if any items were not available. Within 30 minutes ANDY texted he was on his way and arrived within 5 minutes. It was amazing that he got every single item correct and bagged them nicely and evenly. What an awesome first experience and we will continue to use this as it helps save on gas, time, driving in bad weather, germs, walking, searching, lugging, and worrying about finding a parking space. I do have a love hate relationship with Walmart... I need to choose my time here wisely I assume because when they're busy or during holiday season it can be a stressful experience and this is probably why I do choose to shop here as a last resort. The most convenient but not my favorite location the parking here is quite massive though when the cars before you ware waiting you there for support as well so I don't usually park on the ground level and if I'm not in the mood will go straight to the upper levels. I do admit using the app does make it much more convenient as you can check item availability so you don't waste much shopping time and experience and even tells you where it's located and I did just that and was disappointed with the item and decided not to purchase that though did remember another item I was gonna surprise mom with and checked they still had it and found it very easily. It's a portable DVD player as the one I got I actually won it online and was free it worked great for years but the tv had broken so we still have it but just wasn't up to connecting it with our current cable situation which made her quite sad and thought this portable will still give her all that she wants and at her convenience and super easy to operate. So this in general was a love/hate shopping lol but all mostly love and I do appreciated Walmart for dealing with this moody shopaholic. Thank you! read more

I took my kids shopping at Walmart yesterday for a few things, and while we found some cute clothes, the overall experience was incredibly frustrating. We went to the fitting room, and the employee there--an elderly woman--told me I could only take in six pieces at a time, which was totally fine. I gave her the extra shirts we were planning to buy so she could hold them on the counter while we tried things on. After trying on clothes with my kids, I came out and asked for the shirts back. She looked confused and said she didn't know what I was talking about--she forgot. Trying to be understanding, I went along with it, but then she directed me to another employee putting clothes away and told me to ask her about it. That employee had no idea what I was talking about. I then tried handing the fitting room employee (the same elderly woman) the clothes that didn't fit, and she handed them right back and said, "You can put it away back on the shelf." I was confused and double-checked--"You want me to put these back?" She said yes, while she was literally folding and hanging other clothes from the fitting room area. That is her job. At this point, I was super irritated. The shirts I gave her were the last sizes available--the last small and medium on the rack. I was really upset thinking they were lost. I went back and found the shirts after searching the racks again. I brought them back to her and showed her that these were the ones I had given her but the wrong sizes. That's when she told me, "Oh, well, you didn't say they were girls' shirts, so I sent you to the other lady. Girls' shirts go in this bin." She found them five minutes later and then told me it was my fault for not telling her they were girls' shirts and for leaving them with her. Not only that, I had to help go through the bin with her. Mind you--I was in the fitting room for five minutes. I understand she may have memory issues, and I really do want to be respectful of that--but this was just terrible customer service. You can't lose a customer's items, blame them, refuse to take back clothes that didn't fit, and then have the customer go search for the lost items themselves. I get that it's Walmart and people expect a certain level of chaos, but this was too much. No accountability, no care. Just a mess read more

Tee in customer service gets 10 starts. Walmart in Honolulu gets only 2 stars. (Clueless workers, disgustingly dirty parking garage) I bought an SD card online, but it would take an extra day for the pickup to be ready. I went to the store to buy the SD card the same day. The clueless worker in the electronics section did not know where the SD card shown online was located. Tee in customer service spent time trying to locate the inventory in the system, she also informed me that there was another additional aisle of SD cars located in the gaming section that also had SD cards. Vegetables such as potatoes, onions, yams, carrots, etc. Pillsbury biscuits, cheese, saimin are items you can find cheaper! It's not a wrong signage it's correct Germ X medium bottle and large pump bottle only .50 and .25 cents wow ! Probably their trying to get rid of this overstock product since Covid19 has slowed down I know its still out there but customers is not buying hand sanitizer like crazy like before . This review purely concerns the physical space that is Walmart on Keeauomoku. This is not about the hardworking staff that have greatly improved their service since they opened 18 years ago, and have to deal with the influx of neighborhood meth heads daily. I walk through the garage everyday and it smells like an open latrine. If the facilities staff have power-washed it once since they built the structure, it sure doesn't smell like it. It doesn't help that the clientele often treat their parking spaces like trashcans. Please Walmart, I know you have the $$$, please put it to use to make the experience pleasant from the moment customers pull into your garage to the moment that they leave. It's not enough to sell affordable products, especially if the customer experience is an assault to the senses. read more

So glad there was a Walmart that was easily accessible. We were able to stock up on snacks and toiletries that we needed. Also found a large section for Hawaiian souvenirs that made it real easy for us. Everyone greeted us as we walked passed. Several employees asked me if I needed help. I don't even think I have ever been asked here in California if I needed any help. Instead of the usual McDonald's I am used to seeing inside the Walmart they had an L&L which I found amusing. This Walmart was huge and had everything you could need or want. Scored a 6-pack of my favorite Lilikoi Lychee Hawaiian Sun drink and it was like $3.50 for the pack. That's what I think I pay for 1 can here in California. Was so excited. Found out that if I want it spiked it is yummy paired with Captain Morgan rum! read more

I came to this Walmart by Ala Moana for some toiletries because the place I am staying didn't have offer them. Wow this place has not changed since I set foot in here when it opened nearly 20 years ago. The parking garage was messy and hard to get in and out as usual. My friend knew where to park - top floor. Getting there was also challenging. Yup. That was how I remembered. I'm glad this store remained open as others closed during the company reconstruction. The store was so busy. I think it was also a shopping paradise for tourists who wants souvenirs bargains. I didn't interact with any employees. I used the self-checkout with my Walmart app. My friend waned me about no shopping bags offered at cashier. So, I brought a garbage bag. Hahaha. read more

Never order delivery from this place. The customer service is terrible they send items that are not even close to what you ordered. I ordered green tea, Gatorade, meal replacement shakes, and a few other personal hygiene items. I was delivered 4 5/pack bags of spicy ramen!!! No one is available to deliver proper items you have to wait 10+days for refund and reorder. The one thing that I loved about the COVID pandemic because there were a lot of negative things about the pandemic was all of the drive-up shopping options. Walmart did a great job with this speedy convenient way of making purchases during the pandemic and I love that they are still making this option available today. My only problem is sometimes it's hard to find where the pickup area is LOL.... At this location the the Walmart curbside pickup area is on the opposite side of the store entrance under some beautiful trees. If you enter the parking lot from that side of the building you will have to literally go upstairs to Sams Club turn around and come back down the ramp to get there. If you enter from Keeaumoku Street you will need to find your way to the far side of the building. Once you find it you are set. This Walmart parking lot is a hot mess....There are always so many shoppers and it doesn't matter the time of the day, but there are lots of parking stalls Thank you Walmart for continuing this great service..... read more

This Walmart location is like the busiest location in Hawaii. It always seems like it doesn't matter what time you go, it's always crowded. Walmart only allows service animals in the store and yes I have one. A dog. We go in the store with his service harness on. Clearly his harness reads service dog. Every single time I walk in this store I get questioned if my animal is a service pet. I guess they can't read. I get it, I comply. However while browsing in the store I come across a few dogs, in strollers or just walking around with no vest/harness and they try lunging at my dog for no reason. Really? How are these dogs coming in? Well. Besides the animals, this store is a cluttered mess, it's busy and there are people trying to walking every where it seems like every one is in each other way. The self check out lines are long. Most of the items are reasonable (I think) but this is not a store I will go back to visit frequent. They did renovate the store also so things did move around so finding items became a little more difficult. read more

I'm not a Wal-Mart shopper, but when you're on vacation and need to buy gifts to bring home in the Mainland, we made it a stop to look for gifts and my friend was looking for a particular item that he couldn't find at Long's and ABC. The store is located on Keeaumoku St and has a large free parking lot. I used to Wal-Marts being in the suburbs and not being in the urban city center area. As you walk in, you have a large section of Hawaii souvenirs of all types. The next section is where we here for, a large section of macadamia nuts, candies, coffees, cookies, jams and syrups. I bought several boxes of chocolate macadamia nuts, which was cheaper than at the aforementioned stores. I'm sure Wal-Mart is a shopping option for locals. But for tourists from the Waikiki, it could be a little trek to get here. But if you can find you way here, the savings might pay off for your gift shopping needs. read more

When visiting Hawaii we love to visit WalMart or Costco as it is a cheap place to get our basic needs and souvenirs! This is a regular WalMart, near the Ala Moana center. They've got covered parking and like most WalMarts, they are almost always busy! Like I said, great place to stock up on staples like water, snacks, and whatever else you forgot to bring from home but we especially love this place as they have very affordable souvenirs- macadamia nuts, pancake mix, postcards, necklaces, flowers, etc. Definitely a cost saver compared to the other places you could buy souvenirs! read more

I place multiples of the same item on the conveyor belt. The employee, an older haole lady with long gray hair, doesn't count and assumes how many I purchased. She guessed and charged me for 4 instead of the three I have. Then with a knee-jerk reaction, as if she has done this time and time again, she says go to customer service. I then wasted 30 minutes of my night in the line. The employee should be retrained to 1. Ask the customer how many they have. 2. Learn to count the items themselves. I see this as two failures that occurred because the employee went against common sense practices and possibly some type of store policy. This is only frustrates because I normally do HER job and actually do self-checkout... yep I do my part working for Walmart without pay but, also without errors. Elites and others stay away from her lane or you too can waste 30 minutes of your evening in the customer service lane. They should do the right thing and give her a job where no one knows if you make a mistake, like in the air traffic control tower or charge nurse in an inner city E.R. Detroit and Chicago come to mind (I am being sarcastic...Please don't give her those jobs) read more
