However, their attitude came off as if I was arguing with them. And every time they would pause, I would try and follow up with additional information, they'd cut me off. Shopping in Honolulu, Hawaii... Ala Moana Center, the largest outdoor shopping mall in the world, has Longs Drugs Store (CVS on the mainland)... yay! This is where locals go for weekly deals, prescriptions, snacks, etc. I had a $2 reward that was going to expire. I wanted to use it before I lost it or forgot about it again. I also had a gift card... yippee! Service was friendly and helpful! A nice lady asked me if I needed help... thank you! I had to walk quickly past the cute plushies, personal care merchandise, clearance items, postcards, and stationary (my weakness). I didn't even go into the kitchen gadget or First Aid departments. I patronize this location because there's a lot of covered parking available here. I always wonder if the prices are higher due to its location in the Ala Moana Center. Just in case, I usually only pick up sale items here. This store has a large selection of Hawaiian goods due to many visitors coming through Ala Moana Center. Service here is always efficient and fast due to the volume of customers. I noticed tonight that the freezer doesn't seem to be working well as there is frost on the ice cream. The days that we filled the cart every week... Has long evolved as this infamous location has shrunk to half its size and now there's no shopping cart station as it's more like a need to shop location for various items that's needed more than for it's on sale. One of the down side to this location that is if you shop after a certainly late hours you can't access the store from the mall location as that door and registers are closed and that you need to walk around to the parking entrance which is strangely understandable but seems to deplete the purpose of having a store in the mall...*shrug* Well being that is the reason I rarely visit this location as parking can be a challenge but since I still have prescriptions here I'm tied to this location for that but will move on to another location once that's possible as the rudeness here is too frequent for me, the convenience here has changed but once again but am grateful for that option as my last resort. Since I was in Hawaii for vacation, one of my aunts wanted me to get her Kona coffee glazed macadamia nuts. I checked out at least ten ABC stores but couldn't find the product that she wanted. The closest product I could find were these Kona coffee milk chocolate macadamia nuts. I ended up purchasing these here because they were $4 cheaper (per bag) than all the other stores I've been to. Checking out was a breeze. There were self checkout at one end of the store and cashiers at the other end of the store. Since I'm familiar with how self checkout works and the line was much shorter, I decided to pay through self checkout. CVS at Ala Moana is ok if you have Care Card and just like at Pali you need to have a car. Kupunas like me don't have a car. CVS that 2 used to be downtown and on Halekauila were convenient because of The Bus. Upgrade the one at Pali for more varieties of food like General Tso, the Pali CVS should appeal and satisfy customers than if they go to Safeway. I found the page under Longs Drugs and have been checking into this page whenever we've shopped or browsed in the store. However, I think the confusion occurred when CVS Health acquired the Longs stores and began converting the stores to the CVS brand, ALL EXCEPT for Hawai'i and some stores in Northern California, who still RETAINS the Long Drugs name. Three and a half stars. The wait was minimal but that's because I went ate in the afternoon. My prescription was ready and I put down three items. I was given a receipt and never asked to pay. I had to remind the clerk that I never paid or had a transaction for the items I was purchasing. He didn't understand at first and said I was all good. Sorry, I wasn't all good. I paid because I didn't not want to be embarrassed as I would have set off the detectors!! read more

When you text your customer to pick up the prescribed medication, it should be ready for pick up! It is totally unprofessional and rude to simply say " I am working thru lunch!!!" and no mention of when to come back for pick up. If it's not going to be ready until the lunch hour is over, then say so or do not bother send the text out saying it's ready for pick up. It's just common sense and people lack common sense and etiquettes. read more

My sister and I stopped by today since we were already in the area (LONGS DRUGS ALA MOANA) just to buy a few things. The cashier was nice, but there was a misunderstanding about the coupon we had so she called the manager on duty. The assistant manager's name was "GISSELLE", if I'm not mistaken. Upon arrival, she seemed like she was in a bad mood and did not want to address our concerns. She was already talking to us with a bad attitude so I asked her if she was okay and she answered back with, "Are you?!" while rolling her eyes. My sister tried to explain what was going on, but she never gave her a chance to even address the issue. Instead, she refused to give us service and told us to leave then threw our items on the floor. I never experienced a manager that argued back with a customer instead of trying to fix the problem. We never did anything to disrespect her yet she refused to offer customer service. My sister and I felt so embarrassed during the incident as there were many people watching. We also work in customer service yet we have never disrespected any customer the way that she did. I'm not sure if she was just having a bad day, but I hope she reflects on her actions and doesn't treat any other customers the way she treated us. read more

Longs Drugs is my favorite store to shop in Ala Moana Shopping Center! I've been going here for so many years that I'm surprised I never wrote a review! Reading all the other reviews, there should be a separate page for the Pharmacy and another for the store since it seems like the pharmacy is the 1 star average dragging down the 5 star average for the store! Longs Drugs used to be across Sears at one end of the shopping center. Now it changed to being in the middle without even moving! But it's still one of the most convenient Longs to go to. It's locating on the second level and you can easily get to it from the Piikoi St ramp. There's usually parking around nowadays even if the indicator says "FULL." Another option is to parking at the ground level where the post office is, and use the escalator up which will take you right to the entrance of Longs. Easy! When I need a specific item, I search on the CVS website, and found many Longs stores either don't carry it or are out of stock. The one store that almost always has in stock or offers the item I need is the Ala Moana location. This store doesn't feel as big as the other Longs Drugs, but it is still jam packed with a huge variety of items and possibly even more than the other Longs. The aisles are clean and organized, and items are easy to find. The staff is generally friendly and nice, and do ask you if need any help if you run into one. Yes, I've dealt with the rude and stubborn cashiers and incredibly ignorant ones who don't listen to reason and common sense, but that only happened a couple of times. Overall, an excellent Longs to come to get what you need and what's on sale. I feel it's better stocked than most Longs with more variety. read more

I was at Ala Moana today so decided to use my 40% off coupon at CVS. I used it to buy my daughter's birthday card because cards are so expensive nowadays. Then i wanted to buy some $1 Arare. When i took my merchandise to the cashier, Erica, the system would not allow my 40% coupon & my $5 rewards together. And then when we checked, my $5 rewards had expired on 3/14. So Erica suggested i buy my birthday card by itself using my 40% off coupon. Then buy 5 of those $1 snacks. She was right that the system allowed my $5 rewards & i didnt even have to pay tax!! AWESOME!!! Erica was so helpful & nice! She didnt have to advise me to do 2 separate transactions to get the most for my coupons & money. Normally I get prescriptions filled at the Makiki Longs but I had a doctor's appointment near Ala Moana so I went there. My insurance paid for almost none of it. Before I left the store, I checked GoodRx and it was $5 cheaper so I got back in line but the pharmacist said she wouldn't fix it. This had happened to me once before at the Makiki store and the pharmacist refunded and charged me the GoodRx price. Won't shop at Ala Moana store ever again. read more

Walking around Ala Moana Center, we came across Longs Drugs. It's similar to CVS. I believe CVS bought this company out, however the name of the store still remains Longs Drugs which is pretty cool. We browsed around the souvenir aisle. They don't have a large variety of souvenirs but it's good enough if you're in the area and are in need of last minute gifts. The prices here are a bit high compared to the Walmart, just minutes away. They did have a couple of items on sale the day we visited. read more

Like clock-work, this store is one of my shopping destinations when it comes to local munchies (flavored mac nuts, pancake mixes, tropical teas, etc.) for home and while here (sodas, drinks, etc.). Be sure to read the Sunday paper's ad for their weekly specials. This trip, they were particularly handy as I forgot to bring my trusty pocket knife for opening our product samples for customers. I was tempted to use the hotel's Swiss Army corkscrew, but my friend reminded me of the ramifications of losing it. Voila! A pack of two paring knives for $2.49! These days, that's bargain (is that enough for a 1/2 gallon of gasoline?)! The great thing about Ala Moana Center is that you can just about find anything you will need there. If you have any drugstore needs, this Longs is where you should go to fill them. Longs has been in Hawaii for a long time. So synomous with Hawaii that this store retains the name even after CVS bought it several years ago. Longs is not just a drugstore. You can find cosmetics, food products and souvenirs here. They also carry small electronics and household goods like fans and rice cookers that are essentials in living in Hawaii. Though the location is great, it can get crowded. Especially if there is a big sale as this store draws locals and tourists. The store feels hectic compared to other locations that I have shopped at. If you are shopping at Ala Moana and need to pick up a few things, this Longs is very convenient. But I would do your everyday Longs shopping at one of the neighborhood locations nearby since this one is touristy. read more

Today, we were shopping for "omiyage" for a trip and there were only two cashiers up front with long lines waiting. Thus, we went to the self-check out. It was a little confusing and we needed help. But the local man (wearing no CVS uniform, heavy set guy) who helped us was extremely rude and impatient, and he treated us like we were about to take the items without paying for them. We had already entered our credit card and CVS member #...so why would we run off with the goods?? I'm guessing it was because we had accidentally taken the bag off the sensor platform because we needed room for more items on the platform, so apparently that alarmed him. He then stood directly behind me watching us scan every item. There were two other self-checkout lines with people who probably needed assistance. But he was watching only us, even though we got the hang of scanning and putting the item on the little platform with the sensor. He stood there behind me the whole time. I'm not sure if it was because we were local so he treated us like that? He was calling all the mainland visitors in line "sir" and "ma'am." I'm old enough to be his aunty. He was so so rude and assumptive and intimidating to me and my daughter. What has happened to Longs? I want to say this experience has happened only at Ala Moana Longs, and something similar has happened more than once, with an employee who does not dress in a CVS uniform. It has never happened at Kahala or Ward or Kapolei...the other CVS Longs that we go to. I tried to call the corporate number, but it was too late for today but will try again tomorrow. read more

Annie is an asshole. Try not to go to her if possible. She thinks she's better than everyone there. I asked her for help and she barely speaks or wants to help you. She treats you like crap and just stares at the computer and never gives you any respect when dropping off or checking out the pharmacy. If you want great service don't ask for Annie. She's unfriendly and has the worst attitude I have ever come across in the medical industry. Anyone else is great at this location but Annie is a very very low person and doesn't even want to be at work you can see that she's miserable so no wonder why she is not nice or gives any attention to detail. She won't say hello or greet you at all. Sadly Annie will not say thank you for coming in for your business or anything. What a piece of crap person to have assist you at a pharmacy at that. OMG the best Longs Ever!!! I had an issue with a product and had gone to another branch to discuss with manager. They told me to reach out to the mainland. Due to numerous failed attempts and rude mainland attitude, I had nearly given up BUT my last attempt landed me at Longs Ala Moana. From the friendly cashiers to the amazing store manager, they were soooo understanding and they helped me resolve the issue immediately! No waiting for phone calls, no run arounds -she got it done! This is a very busy store, and super convenient if you need to pick up odds and ends while at Ala Moana Center. The store has a weird triangle-shaped layout but they stock pretty much everything like their bigger siblings. Service is very good. I needed help finding contact saline solution after going round and round the store (I'm not one to ask for help without trying first,) and a male stocker put down his hand truck full of boxes and walked me to the area. read more

It's sad that the store is still called Longs Drugs because this store, or all Longs Drugs stores I've been to, are nothing like the Longs I grew up going to. Just change the name to CVS already. To reflect the customer service now provided. They just canceled the third vaccination (1st Covid) appointment I made with them in the last year, and the apointments were made on their recommendations.
