BUYERS BEWARE: Even though this is a "convenience store", it's very predatory. I have fallen prey to this store's squirrely business practices. I have successfully warned all my work colleagues not to purchase anything here.
One morning when I was recovering from a long night of festive celebration, I needed an energy drink and a small bite to eat. I came across this store (it's close to my office) and bought a Mountain Dew energy drink and a musubi. My grand total: $12.46. I thought that was very strange but since my hangover was beating the insides of my brain to a pulp, I figured I'd let it go.
Another time I go in for a cup of noodles, chips and an energy drink. My grand total: $14.59. I am a polite, courteous person and I did not want to be rude or anything, so I paid for my items, reluctantly.
In a more recent instance, I wanted a California sushi roll that they have pre-made in those clear bento containers. There are two rolls in a container. Grand total: $8.35. That was the last straw. I told the cashier never mind I don't want it and I went across the street to TOPA Towers where there is a Ramen and Sushi place. Grand total for two Cali rolls: $6.00.
Bishop Pantry is a convenient scam. There are no price tags on the items in the store so you won't know how much everything is until you go to the cashier to pay. Also, I have a feeling the cashier may be arbitrarily deciding the prices on the spot. I want to stick up for the consumer. There are other places you should go to get snacks or drinks because this place ain't it. Just walk a couple blocks more to 7-11. Your wallet will thank you! read more
