    Barrier of carts
    Mark Y.

11/22/25 Just another quick update since Costco changed their hours for Executive members and Gold Star members... This last time I went (11/14/25) during the 9am Executive hours they now have a couple of security guards making sure only the black card members are going in. Around 845am an employee comes out with a handheld scanner and scans the membership cards of everyone in line. If you don't have the executive card, that employee tells the security person to make sure the non-executive member doesn't go in. The other thing I noticed was they lined up all the rows of shopping carts around the entrance so line cutters can't try to weasel their way in. This Iwilei Costco definitely has the most organized line of any Costco I've been to. The early shoppers are so used to having 2 lines to go in that many of the regulars self police the cutters. Now that the carts strategically create a barrier, that's mostly taken care of.

This Costco runs like a well-oiled machine. The staff are friendly, efficient, and keep things moving even when the parking lot is packed. Inside, it's classic Costco -- great deals, fresh produce, and a wide selection of local favorites you won't find on the mainland. There's a entire section of Macadamia nuts. I really appreciate the store was stocked nicely. From poke and fresh fish to Hawaiian snacks and island-style baked goods, there's always something that reminds you you're in Hawai'i. Things are different from when I lived on the island back in the 80's. No waiting for things to be shipped over. It's all here. :) The only drawback is parking -- it can get chaotic, so plan ahead or go early. Overall, Costco Kalihi is one of the best-run Costcos -- organized, friendly, and a great reflection of the local spirit.

Aloha my friends! Decided to visit the busiest Costco in the world here in Honolulu. The crowds actually felt like the Costco crowds in San Diego. We were here on a weekday, so perhaps weekends are when it's extremely busy. The hardest part was finding a parking space. That was CRAZY. It was great finding Hawaiian food, drinks and souvenirs as well as other essential items all under one roof. Oh and like always, get a shopping cart because you know you'll be coming out with more than you intended to purchase..LOL

I love Costco but hate going shopping there. So when I was in the area 30 min before they closed I decided to venture inside. I found it a lot easier to handle with parking and crowds. I was searching for mainland food gifts and took a bunch of pictures to decide cost and compare them with other places. The prices are great and the amount of items are reasonable. New outside food court item was their brownie sundae which was delicious!

    People are crazy for this!

I don't care what anyone says, I love coming to this Costco! It's the best place for me to get my candies and sweetbread to take home with me. The workers are all pretty chill and funny! I think what the problem is, are the customers. They all seem to be in this crazy rush to get everything. I wandered around comparing prices to what is on the mainland. The chicken is still $4.99, which is still a great deal! They also have Hawaiian shirts! For me, this is a fun location to come to. Of course, Parking can be nutz, but I noticed that Thursday is the slowest day, so parking is easier. Mahalo Costco!

I also had the same experience as Audrey C. A cashier named Marcy was very rude to us and had such an attitude towards us when we were checking out. Can we please teach this cashier to have better customer service please? We've been a member with Costco for decades and this is the first cashier that we've seen be rude towards us.

My opinion is to keep the food area cleaner especially the self service drink area and the counter that has the commodities of mustard, relish and ketchup! The day we went there there's a long queue therefore the self service stock of commodities were running out! May I ask who is reasonable to refill it? There's two commodities boxes situated side to side but when I went to get my hotdog to be decorated hardly any one of the mustard was coming out but instead of air splashing out almost ruining my blouse! Those sauces airing out while pushing it will not erase the splash on our shirts! (Please consider this point of view)! If one spill their sauces while eating it's our responsibility but otherwise it's the store manager that should coordinate staff to check their inventory for their food court! The relish and ketchup was okay stocked up with ease to place on our hotdog. We've been to Costco in Japan where the food court is situated inside of the store very organized to park our shopping cart and very clean! Why indoors instead of outdoors I believe Costco made it for the convenience of the consumers...plus its locale is on the industrial area. The whole building of the parking and shop is built very well by floors very organized! Food court not as large but people eating will share seats that are opened...we politely ask if it is alright..to share seating tables. Their menu is basically the same except they have the best clam chowder soup. Nonetheless I hope the food court common area has their inventory of sauces filled until closing and cleaned.

    No long lines

The most busiest Costco in the World . Of course the Alakawa location . Everyone knows the parking is always full and hectic and so much customer. Today after work I stopped by and it was not crowded at all . I think the trick is to go on a Monday lol For $11.99 can go wrong what a deal . I didn't know that it comes in 2x pairs of 4 . I bought just 1 pak than thanks to the cashier she advised me to get another one comes in 2's , very excellent customer service .

Its punctured and leaking air. Yay!!!

Driving through the crazy traffic while we change membership and got this in my tire. I told them and did nothing about it. Waited 45 minutes for my insurance roadside to get here. Also got an appointment at a tireshop to get it repaired for free. How lucky me today!!

I called her back as soon as I psyched myself up. Mom had a nervous laugh in her voice, so I braced myself even more... She explained that she and her classmates wanted to do something for the 88 graduates of their high school, Sacred Hearts Academy. They didn't want to give a perishable flower lei, so they thought that a yarn lei would be appropriate. What does that have to do with me? I attended Maryknoll School. Hah! Mom knows that I know how to make a yarn lei - and quite efficiently. I had made 100 lei for my nephew's graduation, so, what's 88 more? Mom also knows that I know where to get supplies at a reasonable price. She suggested that I call Max Imports and see if they're open. It's not easy saying "no" to mom. Thinking about all the sacrifices she made for me over the decades... well... you know... So, of course, mom was right. Max Imports was open. The phone was answered right away and the nice lady on the phone helped me so much. I told her that I needed to make 88 lei. She asked what school and figured out the colors: Yellow grosgrain ribbon - 3 spools White long eyelash yarn - 9 packages Yellow short eyelash yarn - 9 packages Total = $485.34, including tax I told the kind lady that I could be there in about an hour after getting cash from the bank - no problem. That was enough time for her to pull the items from the shelves. When I got to Max Imports in Kalihi, there was metered street parking and a free parking lot next to the warehouse. I went up to the table like she described and rang the "Apple Bell". She appeared quickly and I gave her the cash. She went back inside to get a receipt for me. I found out that her name was Alice. I had seen her before at the Douglas Trade Shows at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center. I had bought yarn and ribbon from them several times in the past. I had even come to this shop to get supplies. Alice was so knowledgeable and pleasant. She even helped me carry a box to my car! As we walked, I thanked her because I know that the prices at Walmart and Longs are higher. She added that those retailers wouldn't have the quantity I needed. She's right! So - if you need to make many lei, come to Max Imports for the best prices and service! Good luck!

Shopping in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. We stumbled upon KYD, Inc. K. Yamada Distributors when we searched our Yelp apps for "shopping". This is an interesting store that has takeout containers, disposable utensils, dressings, jams, canned corned beef, salsa, cleaning products, etc. I paid attention to the "Hot Sale" signs for the best prices and great deals. I found sleeves of cups that my mom likes to use to serve certain desserts. It's challenging to find these disposable cups! I had looked everywhere for them! Now, I find them for $3 ... wow! I think I need to return! I saw packs of plastic spoons for $2. Maybe I should get them for the next family party... Tip: use cash to avoid the 2.5% credit card fee. Also: They asked for a name for the sale... for their records

Locally packed…read more.. The need to support local for various packing items KYD, Inc is an awesome place that does provide materials not just to the retail industry but for the general public as well. Nadine C suggested to check this place out which I'm so happy I did though the location is in the Lagoon Drive area which we all know the parking situation is tough though they do have a few stalls right in front of the biz many do drive by and double park behind you so if you find a street parking it's totally suggested the best way to avoid getting blocked. The door is to the left of the building and is actually the Will Call area though they do have a lot of shelves to display their inventory which does include cleaning chemicals, food containers, gloves and many items that you just don't see like foam trays. Their clearance section items starts from $0.50 with sale items from $1 finding items for your event doesn't have to be pricey. Thank you!
