It's almost Christmas! The time of year that I bake mini gingerbread people cookies for family and friends. Last Christmas I used all of my supply of cellophane bags that I used to bag the cookies in. The supplier I used to buy my bags no longer exist. Boo hoo. As you can see, I was in desperate need of finding another supplier. One day when I was checking out my friend Nadine's activity I came across...ISLANDS MARKETING. Shopping in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... I was looking for plastic bags for church members to take produce home from our Thanksgiving "Table of Plenty". Using my Yelp app, I found Islands Marketing. I had never been inside this shop before, but I had been to the next door space when it was Riggers... when I played volleyball and purchased shorts from this local business. Now, that space is a jiu-jitsu studio. Anyway, there's free parking in the shared lot... thank you! Inside, samples of plastic bags, paper bags, cellophane packages, bows, containers, ribbon, etc. are displayed on the walls. Just tell the worker what you need and he'll find ot for you! Wow... I even saw tubing to make a lei for my niece's graduation! I'm going to put little trinkets in the tubing and tie ribbons between the toys! Service was very pleasant and efficient! I wanted to shop inside to see what they had, but they did not allow anyone inside. Instead you have to have either ordered over phone and pickup at the door. Or ask the associates what you're looking for and they will bring you out what they have. I like to see the products I look at and see what the variety is. During one of the COVID shutdowns, a Facebook friend and talented baker posted some fun baking videos, and gave a shoutout to this place for providing cute cups. And it's become one of my favorite places this past year! My favorites are the brown flower cups for baking brownies and baked Mochi - you don't need to grease them, they cook in about 1/3 to 1/2 the time, and THERE ARE SO MANY EDGES that get that crispy caramelized parts that normally just the best pieces on the edge of the pan get. I just found out they even sell the packages that you can put them in - so they totally look like they came from a bakery, even if you're like me and just opened a brownie box mix, and threw in an egg and oil, then scooped it out with a cookie scooper (bonus points for topping them off with some m&m minis!). I also love their cute little loaf paper containers (also get the baggies!) for baked breads. They provide awesome customer service too, patiently sharing their inventory, prices, etc while I wait outside and ask them a ton of questions since they're trying to keep safe. They even provide instructions and recipes for using their containers! A fantastic resource for making homemade goodies taste way better!! And their prices are super reasonable, and worth the slightly extra cost than the paper cupcake holders, since they make the recipient feel like they're truly made with lots of love and care! read more

I buy all my things from island marketing, I can spend days inside the stores even if the covid hits I already know what I need and wan because the workers/ owners have all my items in their computer that they can pull my name up and find what I needed. I had gone to other places Nothing can beat Island Marketing customers service. They Are Friendly and Christine the owner goes out of her way to help me find what I need . Their items are all quality and it doesn't tear easily, they have really nice seasonal bags, they have pretty boxes all kinds of shapes and sizes , clear boxes, white and other shapes, it's best to call before heading down there Christine is really good. If you're looking for any kind of gift bag, container, box, cupcake liner, etc...the magic is behind their glass door. I was just looking for small plastic bags to put mochi in as a thank you so I looked up gift bags. My Yelp search yielded this gem and I was like, ???? I had never heard of this place but it was worth a shot. When I drove up, of course, I was skeptical, I mean look at their storefront. So unassuming and no big signage. I love this tiny cozy hidden jem place! First time to come here it was hard to find it but you should trust your GPS. There is a low wall and "for lease" sign on it just before to get the parking lot. Again this place is tiny cozy but there are lots of treasures in there!!! (I'm always excited to be here! What a great mom & pop shop! I needed containers for a drive by baby shower and Amazon was a flop... I'm glad though because it led me to Island Marketing and I got to shop local! When I called, the owner talked me through what they have. She asked me what I was looking for and gave me a few options. She even texted me pictures of everything so I could have an idea of what I wanted when I came in. With COVID, you can't shop in store, but they bring out samples of their items so you can see it. When I got there, they were super accommodating with showing me samples (I'm a super visual person). They have a huge inventory so if you need anything, they probably have it. My sister on Kauai asked me to pick up some favor bags before flying over to see her. Before this I've never heard of this place. It's a small little shop in Kalihi, near Honolulu Community College and they have lots of free parking (yay!). This place was like a hidden gem! If you like to give baked goods for any occasion or in need of packaging like cute seasonal cellophane baggies, you'll be in heaven. Forget trying to go to Longs or Ben Franklin for those types of things. This is the place you need to go! They have so many different types of paper bake-able pans, plastic treat containers, resealable bags, cupcake liners, bento/mochi containers, and more. Christine & Peggy exemplify excellent customer service. I was looking for sheer organza drawstring bags in medium to large sizes for an unusual use--protecting tree ripening fruit from birds, insects, pests, moisture. The bags had to be breathable, quick drying synthetic material able to withstand sunlight, rain and wind. They understood immediately and prepared some samples for me to see. Customers must stand outside their front door and cannot browse inside their small office-warehouse, so this advanced preparation is recommended. They're located in Kalihi on the mauka side of Kaumualii St ewa of Kohou St near Kapalama Canal and Dillingham Blvd. Free parking, but a small sign set far back from Kaumualii St. Drive slowly or you'll miss it. read more

I love this little business so much! I've visited them on several occasions this past month and the staff is always super helpful and friendly. My little Isabel celebrated her 5th birthday and I purchased boxes for her preschool and family parties. My cupcakes looked so beautiful in their boxes that everyone couldn't believe they were homemade. Who's a Super Mom? That's right, this gal! I also purchased the most adorable gingerbread boxes, cellophane bags and pull bows for 20 holiday gifts I made for work. The extra pretty wrapping made my packages extra special and they look really impressive! The best part is that the pull bows made the process of packing everything very easy. My three children helped me pack everything and my nine year old had so much fun making all the bows. Great place to pick up food packing bags, boxes, clear food containers in all shapes and sizes, and a wide selection of ribbons, basket packaging, heat sealers and some packaging for all occasions. They also have little paper pans in different sizes, from brownies to bread loaves. Yes ones that you can bake in and then wrap with one of their cute packaging. One thing they don't sell is Styrofoam containers. The are a hidden gem is conveniently located behind the Dillingham Zippy's in Kalihi. A small parking lot but it's enough for their customers. With a friendly and helpful staff, this is the place to go for your holiday packaging. The staff is knowable and can help with your packing and baking advise. Just be aware that the place is small and jammed pack with the packaging items. However, it's fun to look at all of the items and be able to just pick them off the shelf. read more

This place is perfect for DIY gift basket packaging; they even sell heat sealers and moisture packs to help keep your fresh goods fresh. One of their younger staff was "helping" me and ordered items "on my behalf" even after I just requested to know the pricing.
