Sometimes they have specials going on and gourmet items that you will need to make your dish a stand out. It great to browse around and see what they have. They have free memberships for Ohana and business memberships. For businesses, can enter 2 hour prior from regular memberships. I love going to ChefZone for interesting food and drink items, bulk purchases, and fresh produce. I love to wander around the different aisles and see what they have. There's everything from items to make coffee/tea drinks and boba teas, to fancy frozen seafood, to bulk cheeses, beans, vegetables, and more. It's usually very quiet when I'm there and there's lots of space to wander through the aisles. If I'm looking for a slightly more unusual item, I usually give ChefZone a try as they have all sorts of interesting things. Parking is free and there are usually several open spaces. For family celebrations, there are good prices on crab legs, scallops, and other seafood. * Ice cream scoops. I love the stainless-steel ice cream scoops in various sizes. Not only are they good for ice cream, but for measuring cookies so that they are consistent in size. * Paper baking items. I love the bulk cupcake paper containers, as I use a lot. Various other paper containers come in handy also. There are free demos on new products every so often during the year. Recently, there was a demo on making tonkatsu, and the end product was delicious! The premade batter is just mixed with water, then the pork mixed into it, then coated with panko, and it's ready to fry! No need to coat it with egg or flour! Restaurants would love this due to ease of making. I try not to fry at home, as trying to cut back on fried foods and not having to clean up messy oil splatters after frying. Both powdered batter and tonkatsu sauce were available for purchase. Similar to the tonkatsu batter, I'm certain that Chef Zone also has available fried chicken batter. Customer service is non-existent on the floor. You'll have to go to the Customer Service desk in the front for assistance. The warehouse interior is spacious with shelves constantly stocked with its large inventory. You can spend a lot of time just browsing through the many interesting items. Certain aisles appear dark, but as you get closer, lights come on automatically, which is an energy saver. And there's the huge refrigerated area where insulated jackets are supplied to you for ease of browsing in cold temperatures. Hours of operation are: Mon to Fri 6a to 4p, Sat/Sun 8a to 3p. The first two hours from Mon to Sat are reserved for food service members. Free membership cards are required for anyone making a purchase. Chef Zone has its own dedicated covered parking lot next to its entrance and exit, and parking is free. I've only recently found out about ChefZone. My husband heard about it, but we thought it was only open to professional chefs. He was able to sign up for a membership. Membership is required, but it is free. They have a separate room for some gourmet items. Lots of cooking accessories. Some items are very limited, others have a wide selection. For example, the syrups used for Italian soda and shave ice was plentiful with a lot of selection. All the proteins and meats are frozen. They do have a chill zone in which you have an option of wearing one of their coats as it's very cold in there. Inside you have access to a lot of the frozen meats, produce, and cheeses. The produce section has limited fruits and vegetables, but they had a very nice selection of cheeses, which I appreciated. read more

It is a chef zone here. I love coming here to browse and do some treasure hunting! A lot of items are sold in bulk, but some don't have big portions. They've got meat, produce, lots of frozen seafood choices, household items, you name it. There's also a gourmet chef section in a separate room by the exit of the warehouse so make sure you check it out! Some of the great finds I took home were frozen battered oysters and a 2.2 lb box of already salt-cured ikura (around $80). Now I can enjoy fried oysters whenever I want, and ikura on my rice or salad whenever I want, not at any restaurant's mercy lol. Also I took home some frozen masago as well! I also saw they have frozen coconut shrimp... and I believe I saw a bag of frozen foie gras for $140. Maybe one day I'll get that and just sear it on my pan and I don't have to go to a special restaurant to eat it! Lots of interesting things. "TV Dinner" - ZZ Top This place ain't no TV dinner. It's dinner in BULK. Like a 10 lb bag of onion rings, or a 15 lb case of calamari. How about 10 gallons of soy sauce for your next get together? 50 lbs of salt for your next birthday party? How about smaller items like Exotic sauces and syrups for your fancy pants bar? Come here! They have all flavors of Monin syrups, edible flowers, gourmet maple syrup with sparkly edible glitter in them. The Inspired Chef within ChefZone carries gourmet stuff like tomato bobba pearls and lemon caviar and other mouth-feely stuff you can put in people's drinks and sprinkle on top of appetizers. The guy inside Inspired Chef was super nice too, despite us being dressed like hobos with no money (that's my new thing now, haha). Chef Zone is a really interesting grocery store nearby the airport. Membership is free for residents (ohana) but otherwise it is for chef/restaurant people. Their rules are- bring membership card, the first 2 hours reserved for restaurant members. They have variety of groceries- produce, coffee grinds, syrups, Japanese food, snacks, restaurant wear (chef cost etc), and utensils. The prices can be a bit expensive if you compare with other membership clubs (Costco, Sam's Club), but they have a huge freezer section of meats and produce that is not comparable! I go here pretty often as we like to stock our fridge with vegetables, eggs, and okinawan sweet potatoes compared to other places because of the quality and price. This time, we were here not only to restock on those items but because I purchased a griddle from someone second hand recently, and I was looking to break it in the best way I can. Yesterday was that day the bbq forefathers and ancestors smiled upon me and granted me a window with no rain to make tacos from scratch, tortillas included! Like always, I find what I need and also like always, I discover they have something I didn't know they had until I went looking for it, which is a guava jam like product and big bottles of liquid smoke to give your bbq that extra smoky flavor if you don't have a smoker like me just yet. Though they do not have guava jam in the jelly or jam aisle, they do have a specialty guava nectar similar to it. It's thick and kind of reminded me of tomato paste. Thanks to ChefZone, griddle cooking fresh made corn tortillas and fried pork made taco night a success! The Hata family are these overprivileged, rich fucks who don't know how to deal with ordinary people; they expect people to bow down to them; they have a pathetic version of Costco called Chef Zone, which sells ridiculously expensive produce and seafood, and I have heard from an inside source that Chef Zone has a rat infestation. I will never return there again after learning of this. Chef Zone's terrible customer service is another reason why you should never shop there. There are three CSRs I can name from memory who do not have the common decency to say "You're welcome" after making a pitiful effort to help out customers. Even if you purchase in bulk, restaurant supplies are still far too costly. For supplies, Fisher Hawaii offers a better bargain. The number one reason that I love Chef Zone is that they have lūʻau! Hawaiian variety lūʻau! This is in contrast to the Chinese variety that can be found in the local Supermarkets. The difference that I have found over the years is that when using the Hawaiian variety to make stew lūʻau or squid lūʻau the lead cooks down completely. Finally made it to Chef Zone after hearing good things about this place from fellow Yelpers. I hesitated going because I thought I had to purchase a membership. Allen N. reassured me there is no charge for membership so I went to check it out. Thanks Allen! Sign up for an Ohana membership at the counter upon entering. It was a bit discombobulating to figure out how to shop here so I decided to leisurely peruse the aisles. Yes, I know I can find many of the same items at Costco or Sam's Club, but I was looking for the exceptions. Score! I purchased the last separator that I had on my wish list for years and was always out of stock elsewhere! If you know me well, I love kitchen gadgets! Some of the items were specifically for restaurant use and too large for a home cook, but it was cool to see difficult to find items available here. Speaking of cool, be prepared when you enter their walk in cooler. It felt nice upon entering on a hot day, but I was actually freezing by the time I exited. The roll up door system they have is genius! Produce looked very fresh and sold in bulk. Now I know where to come to purchase beautiful eggplant for (baked, not fried) parmigiana! If I had a large freezer, I would have bought the case of bone marrow or açaí barrel! Just a note, make sure you check the expiration dates as I saw some expired or soon to expire items being sold. I've been a ChefZone customer for a long time. Their membership is free, and you will need to show your membership card when you pay for your items. ChefZone is a one stop shop for produce, meats, cookware and containers for packaging food. The price of everything has gone up but there's items like Italian cured meats and cheeses that I still feel are reasonably price so that's why I still get them from here. If you're on a budget, you can still shop here because there's a bargain shelf and well, if you're going to cook the food same day, those bargain items are pretty good. I once purchased 9 orange bell peppers for $3 and I ended up sharing it with my neighbors. If you're doing a fundraiser or bake sale and you want to make your baked goods more appealing, I highly recommend coming here to buy the containers. They have so many sizes and options and are sold as 1 pack instead of the entire box of 1000. They are located between Keehi Lagoon and the airport. The exterior of their building is painted red and can been seen when you're driving on the freeway into town. When you get to Ualena Street, you will see signage for ChefZone and their parking lot. Bad customer service and crappy store policy. They service restaurant and small business owners but aren't great at customer service. I just went in to price quote items for an event and unfortunately forgot the price for one item. I called and asked and explained that I live far away so if they could let me know the price and the manager refused. Damn, days of customer service are long gone. That's why I'm ordering my containers from Amazon. Yeah Bezos is horrible, but atleast Amazon strives to compete with price, speed and they let you know the price. Had a weekday off and happened to be in the area. I'd heard that they no longer require membership (or did they ever?) and I decided to stop by for no particular reason. With most everything here being in bulk (of course, that's the point) and just two of us at home, it seemed like there wasn't much for me to buy here...until I saw the freezer case of seafood and found my way into the enormous section of the building full of cheese, perishables, and Asian staples like noodles and tofu. There was a good variety of produce including all the usual fruits and veggies plus Asian greens, edible flowers, and microgreens. Got a free 'ohana membership and went to pick up my card at Chef Zone, located neat the airport. I wasn't really shopping but browsed around. The prices are decent not as cheap as I expected but slightly better than supermarket prices but not wholesale. This is a great place to pick up large sizes of ingredients for your next party or potluck. You can also get smaller quantities like a single pastry. There is a gourmet section and I got some pate and rosemary olive oil crackers. Seafood is abundant but frozen. This is a great place to get containers and paper goods but check your prices at Costco first. CZ is good for small businesses but it was relatively quiet on a weekend. read more
