Wow! Don Don Donki in Oahu is an experience all on its own. Walking in can be a little overstimulating at first because there is just so much to see everywhere you look--but in the best way possible! The variety is incredible. They truly offer just about everything: prepared foods, fresh items, Japanese snacks, desserts, drinks, unique groceries, and so many products you won't find in a typical store. Every aisle felt like a new discovery, and I found myself picking up things I had never seen before. Whether you're looking for a quick meal, souvenirs, specialty snacks, or just want to browse, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I'm sorry Casee, but Donki does not care or take customer's complaints serious like your reply implies: At the outset, we apologize for the inconvenience and the experience you mentioned when shopping at our store on May 17, 2026 (Sunday). After reviewing this matter carefully, it appears: Store employees near the store exit asked every customer to present a copy of their purchase receipt; In addition to visible checks by store employees at the exit, signs were posted for customers: "Please have receipt ready"; Customers before you presented their receipts and, after a quick verification, their receipts were returned and they exited the store; When the store employee requested you to provide a copy of your purchase receipt, you were not able to and you searched the pockets in your clothes and in your shopping cart but the receipt could not be found; you then stated you had thrown away the receipt; In accordance with store policy, the store employee asked which check-out counter you made the purchase and you pointed in the direction of the self-check stations; You then retrieved your mobile phone and started video recording; As your hands were occupied video recording on your phone, our store employee pushed your cart to the self-check station area and you followed; Upon inspecting the self-check station you were at, there was no receipt. However, your receipt was later recovered from the attendant station after a cashier found a receipt at the self-check station you used and brought it to the attendant station. You continued to focus on your phone to video record. The store employee retrieved the receipt and compared it against the merchandise in your shopping cart; You continued to video record; After verification, the receipt was handed to you before the store employee pushed your cart to the exit area as you continued to video record on your mobile phone. You followed the store employee to the exit area and you left the store with your shopping cart; and On May 22, 2026 (Friday), at 6:36 PM, you submitted a formal report and claim to the store. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Don Don Donki. After spending a significant amount of money in the store and at the food court, I was stopped, detained, and escorted back to the checkout area against my wishes despite having paid for every item in my possession. One of the items I purchased even required an employee to remove a security hard tag during checkout, clearly demonstrating that the merchandise had been properly paid for. I am extremely concerned by the conduct of your security personnel during the incident in question. The video evidence clearly demonstrates that I did not voluntarily consent to returning to the store. Instead, I was directed and escorted back inside by Security Officer Siemens despite my expressed desire to leave the premises. At that time, all merchandise in my possession had already been lawfully purchased and paid for. More troubling is the fact that even after proof of purchase was produced and verified by store employees, Security Officer Siemens continued to retain control over my property and refused to return it immediately. Despite confirmation that all items had been properly paid for, I was treated as though I had committed a criminal act and was escorted from the store in a manner that was humiliating, intimidating, and highly embarrassing. As a paying customer who made multiple purchases at your establishment, including supporting one of your concession vendors, I find this treatment unacceptable. Customers should not be subjected to detention, public humiliation, or interference with their personal property simply because store procedures are inadequately staffed or managed. If receipt verification procedures are causing operational challenges due to a lack of manpower, that burden should not be shifted onto customers who have already completed lawful purchases. Operational shortcomings do not justify the detention of customers, the withholding of personal property, or conduct that may constitute false imprisonment and wrongful interference with personal property rights. I respectfully request a written explanation as to why I was detained, why my property was withheld after proof of purchase was presented, and what corrective actions will be taken to ensure that other customers are not subjected to similar treatment in the future. This incident has caused significant distress, embarrassment, and anxiety, and remains deeply disappointing given the manner in which I was treated despite being a legitimate paying customer What a shame, Don Don Donki. My sister took me to lunch and suggested the Wagyu Skewer lunch spot in Don Don Donki. It sounded pretty good, so off we went. The layout of the store is pretty strange, with the entrance on one side, and the exit at the other end of the store by the food court. It forces you to either park near the entrance or exit (or in the middle), and either way, it's gonna be a long walk. We parked near the entrance and went in and found the food court at the other side of the store. The store is fairly large, and offers a huge selection of Japanese foods, snacks, and other specialty products. It was surprisingly empty for a Friday afternoon, but at least we didn't have to wait very long. They have a large counter for sit down dining, along with tables in the middle of the court. The skewers were a petty good size, but the meat wasn't as tender as I had expected. It was a bit stringy, and chewy, but the taste was good. They also provided a Teriyaki style dipping sauce, which had a good flavor. I like that it included both a green salad, and mac salad, and the bed of rice under the skewers were also topped with furikake. For some reason, although it was a take out order, they forgot to include any utensils for the eating salad and rice. The exit is located right by the dining area, so the walk back to the car is quite a distance. I understand that having only one exit reduces the chances of theft, but it's still pretty inconvenient for their "primary" customers, who are probably an older demographic. We went specifically for veggies but the selection was subpar on 4-29-26. Either old, moldy or not fresh. Did however buy cherries but was pricey at $18 at checkout. This place is great. It's huge and much bigger than the one in town. You can find almost anything you need. They have a huge food court that's on the inside and air conditioned. It's still not done yet. They have two stalls that will be opened soon. They have a huge snack section, beauty, produce, meat, seafood and frozen items. They have a poke department and a big fridge filled with sushi. Yum! I love their chirashi bowls and scallop nigiris. We went around 7pm and their sushi were all discounted. Score! I think I was initially drawn to the store just from the fun name, but realize it is a variation of the Don Quixote stores in the area. I still have their Don Don Donki theme song stuck in my head as that was played over and over on the stores loudspeaker. During our trip, my party of 6 visited several times to get fresh oysters, hard-to-find Kanoka candied citrus peel, Japanese snacks, pineapple, papaya and poke. As for the oysters, they were clean, easy to open, and all were fresh tasting. Currently, there is a shortage of pineapple, so I'm blaming the shortage on the average tasting pineapple. Imagine my delight on my first trip to Hawaii and there's a Donki nearby. The immediate rush of excitement filled my veins. The inside is as chaotic and busy as a donki in Japan, although this location (because this is the only location I've been to in Hawaii) seems to be merged with Safeway a bit with the items it held so it's almost double the overwhelming yet still fun to browse and walkthrough. Whole lotta stuff going on here. It was my first time here and I wanted to make it count. Pro parking tip: park at the "east end of the store" where the exit is located. So when you're ready to head out there's less effort in walking back and unloading to your car. This place is massive. Unless you already have studied and know the entire layout of the store, be sure to give yourself at least 30 minutes to park and look around. This is absolutely such a game changer to pick up snacks, gifts, or things that are more challenging to find outside of Japan. The best part of visiting family in Ewa instead of staying in town? Proximity to Don Don Donki. This place was insane and I'm not sure how I'll ever go back to a regular Don Quijote. First off: The snack selection is elite. Endless rows of Japanese snacks -- including my personal favorite, specialty Pretz flavors -- including some killer deals for $1-3 items. Freezers and fridges filled with ice cream (single servings and full size), canned coffee, prepared food, and more. Hawaiian goodies with aisles of their own. Everything from basic ingredients to skincare items surprisingly intuitive to find (though you WILL get distracted). Plus, most of it is pretty affordable. The entry to the store is filled with casual food, sit-down restaurant, and soon-to-be dessert options. (Side note: SO excited for a convenient Maruwu Seicha location to open up here!!!) I think once I even went 3 times in one week... I love that they usually have everything I need and prices are reasonable. But what's also awesome is that they carry cool things from Japan. I usually go during the work lunch time so it's never too busy. I'm not too sure how they are during the weekends but there's still plenty parking on their side and the side by the theater. I got some household supplies from Don Don Donki in Kapolei , their super Don Quijote. I've been here a few times. They are one of the few stores that carry Phiten products. I picked up their tape discs. When I went to the Kaheka Phiten Store - in between Donki and Pearl BBQ - the ladies that helped me gave some sample titanium infused discs and tape. How much of it is the "placebo effect" is hard to say...but positive thinking does allow for quicker healing. It is a huge store, formerly K-Mart. Several food option in their indoor food court; the Kaploei location also has an outdoor dining area. Don Don Donki Kapolei the newest addition to the Don Quixote family. Lots to see and explore there. We finally got to see and try their bakery. It's kinda hidden next to the self checkouts. They have a good selection of Ted's Pies . We tried their freshly baked pastries. One sweet (Anpan) and one savory (a Portuguese Sausage pastry). Both were delicious . We went in early and also tried their Okazu counter located in the back of the store next to the Meat and Seafood departments. Nice selection of Bentos , Roasted meats, Hot and Cold entrees (some from the self serve kiosks (charged by the pound) or at the counter fronting the kitchen where you can get a plate lunch for a deal. First stop off the plane and right to Don Don Donki! We walked around to check out all the cooked food first. They do have the food court in the front with different stalls, but if you go into the actual store you can find cooked bentos, tons of poke options, sushi/sashimi and more! We purchased everything to eat and then went back out to the food court to eat. I really enjoyed the poke bowl and the yubu with salmon and tuna! Afterward we went back in to actually shop. This store is huge! Tons of toys, snacks, and actual groceries. It's a one stop shop for everything! It's a great first stop if you're visiting the island to get anything you need, but also makes a great final stop for any last min souvenirs. Finally got to check out Don Don Donki in Kapolei . Very clean and large Donki compared to other locations. Like everyone said the only downside I can see is there only one entrance than you'll need to exit one door . Lots of Japanese snack and produce from Japan . I like their restrooms they're located once you enter also there's restrooms near the exit . Lots of food vendors to choose from in the food court area . I was there around 9:00am and no crowds yet lol . The trick is to go early because everyone says it's very busy during mid day . This is a huge supermarket and I haven't even been to all the sections, because I mainly go for groceries and Japanese snacks. They have a ready made food section as well as food vendors. I personally like this grocery store because they have Japanese sweet potatoes! I'll also get pantry staples like sticky rice and adzuki beans here. It's great that there's a Japanese grocery store on the west side and it's so conveniently located. The Costco and shopping center is right down the street. read more

I tried the poke from the poke counter and the lady was so nice! I was an hour from my hotel and I ordered a large container which she provided me ice to keep it cold. I definitely recommend this place for poke. Read the signs though. Fresh is better. read more

We had some time to kill after shopping at Waikele Outlets, so it was the perfect reason to check out Don Don Donki's only location in the US. According to Google Street View, this used to be a Kmart store, so the footprint was large. EXPERIENCE: The highlight were their numerous in-house eateries which included a big sushi restaurant (Waka Sakura) and spacious communal dining area. The prepared foods were impressive as well. The rest of it was traditional supermarket with an emphasis on Asian foods. They also sold products you'd find in a Don Quijote but on a much smaller scale. I read about Don Q opening a new location. Leaving Kaneohe, the Like Like was closed and they diverted the traffic to the H3. Since I was going in a different direction, why not check out the new Don Don. It is kinda far but good for the Kapolei community. Entrance on one side, exit on the opposite end...ok, so I guess I'll park right in the middle. This location is huge! What I like is the wide aisles, and everything is spread out. It's an interesting layout so I just wandered around. I did get a new water bottle and some mochi peanut snacks. Oh and lanyards for work. I did self-checkout and someone had to help me with the security tags. I didn't see any place I wanted to eat at, but I was hungry. I didn't even see any bentos I wanted earlier. Maybe next time. Don Don Donki is such a fun shopping experience! This is part of the Don Quijote family. This location is located out in Kapolei, so not the most convenient for me, but I definitely did wanna check it out. It's a large store, larger than the Don Quijote in Kaheka. They do have some of the basic similar items, but the Don Don Donki is much more expansive. I really enjoyed seeing what types of imported foods they had, and also the prepared foods. You can buy fresh sashimi there, and they even have some small restaurants inside, including a sushi restaurant. Definitely wanna come back and try the sushi restaurant! I was hoping that they had some of that wonderful strawberry mochi dusted with cocoa that I found in Japan, but they didn't. There was some mochi available, however, the selection was limited, which surprised me. I spent a lot of time in the beauty section, although at times it was difficult to know what each product was since it was all in Japanese. My son was excited to see the Legos, Pokémon, and Godzilla. Going to Don Don Donki is a stretch for me; especially since I can go to a sister location in Honolulu or Pearl City. Call me a lemming! Everyone I know is going here so I'd better check it out. The upshot is it's new and its clean. Parking availability better than Honolulu or Pearl City. Inventory? Well, I'm not going to complain because shelves were well stocked, and I suppose being new, they had a few items with special sale prices. But the part I liked most was they had TONS of the Jonetz bonito flakes that my felines live for. It's a hit and miss at the other locations.... so does that mean I'd have to drive the distance for the Jonetz bonito flakes? ... My felines think so. Love the variety of Asian goods and varies from grocery, to toys, body care, hot prepared food, cold prepared food, sushi, and everything under the sun like gardening things and bath essentials from other countries. We used to frequent this place when it was Kmart, so it's interesting to see how they laid everything out. Just like the other locations they have ready made food and bentos in the store but they also have a food court when you exit. The only hard part is there is one entrance on the far left and the exit is on the far right. So parking may be difficult especially if you're with a senior who can't walk so easily.
