Come early for the andagi donuts (before 2p) otherwise there's a small table set up before the registers to buy a 3, 5 or a dozen. I was able to score a pair of steaks for $8 for my birthday dinner!

Super cool shop! We…read moreloved the Donki stores in Japan when we went last year so we were surprised to see one in Kapolei this week while driving around. Very fun place to walk around. Prices for merchandise are pretty high, like $30-50 for a medium Hello Kitty plush, but I guess everything in Hawaii is pretty expensive. But what we loved about this store was the grocery section. They had an amazing selection of grab-and-go foods. We had a scrumptious dinner of donburi, teriyaki chicken bento, tuna oniguri, bluefin otoro nigiri and more. Husband is here on a business trip, so work paid for our meals. Keeping up with the inventory is quite a feat at Donki stores--there's SO MUCH stuff! Definitely a fun place to walk around because there's so much to see. My husband and I agreed that it would be so awesome if there was a store like this closer to us in Rocklin.

This review is strictly based on customer service…read more We stopped in around 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. When we entered, one employee was wiping down the refrigerator doors while another was seated behind the counter. Unfortunately, we weren't greeted or acknowledged when we walked in. We browsed the store, which had a good selection of Filipino products, and I decided to purchase the onion and chive SkyFlakes crackers along with two banana lumpia. The male employee rang up the crackers and then spoke to the female employee in another language regarding the lumpia. I assumed everything was included in one transaction, but when I walked over to her, I realized I needed to pay separately. When she began putting both lumpia together in foil, I politely asked if they could be wrapped separately. Her reaction made me feel as though my request was an inconvenience. Overall, the transaction itself was fine, but the customer service could be more welcoming. A simple greeting and clearer communication would make a big difference. I also think that when discussing a customer's order, communicating in a language the customer understands would help avoid confusion and make the interaction feel more inclusive.

SERVICE: friendly INTERIOR: tiny but mighty with lots of Filipino snacks, sauces, sweets, etc. Organized n' well stocked. EXTERIOR: located at Ho'opili WAIT TIME: none PARKING: street OVERALL COMMENTS: wanted to check out what products n' hot food they had available. Visited on a Saturday, which was good bc I learned that they only offered hot food on the weekends per the lady who was working. I really wanted an Ilocos empanada so I was glad to see that they had it the day I went. I ended up air-frying it when I got home. It was still good even after the egg got double cooked. Had yummy flavor n' I liked that the vinegar it came with had a nice lil' kick of heat. The taro carioca was my favorite. Sweet crackly exterior, chewy inside similar to like mochi, n' you could taste the taro. I like my turon made with a long wrapper; get more crunchy sections from the ends, so this was the kine of turon I like. Also it has a caramelized outside adding extra flavored sweetness n' crunchiness. It's great knowing there is a Filipino market that carries a wide variety of products n' serves hot food too!

You may find street parking easier. Along the fence are your nanas selling their home grown vegetables. You can bargain with them a little. Getting there at 9pm when they do open, or after, most of the better quality products are gone. The market doesn't stay long. By 9:30am the vendors are packing or gone.

Red Ribbon has been replaced by Bakers Avenue. They still have their meat, seafood, produce and poke departments. I love that they have fresh seafood lying all around on ice. Their prices are higher than what I'm used to seeing. They have live blue crab for $14.99 a pound. I know other places where I can get it for $8.99 a pound. I still would have purchased some, since I was there. However, all the crabs were dead. Never buy dead crabs as bacteria multiplies as soon as they die that turns into toxins. Cooking them will not get rid of the toxins. Live Dungeness crab was $38.99 a pound and live lobster was $37.99 a pound. Their shellfish are priced high. The produce was fresh and colorful. We saw mangoes that were $3.99 each. I bought a whole box of the same mangoes yesterday for $8.99 at another store. Needless to say that I left empty handed.

This third location, inside of Keiki Kingdom, has more of a warehouse vibe. There are open cardboard boxes so that customers can see the products. I like the fact that there are prices on most items.
