Came by on a whim Monday morning around 9:30am for thw firat time. After checking their IG I thought there mat be a chance they were closed because it said they were open for pre order pick up only. We saw there were a bunch of people eating on the tables under the tarp in front the truck so we decided to walk around and see. The trucks order window was closed but the back was open and I saw a lady cooking and asked if they were open. She told me to come around. The truck door was open slightly and a gentlemen greeted me with a smile from behind it. I told him it was my first time there. He said he would take my order since it was my first time but they were only doing pre orders today. I thought that was so nice and ordered 2 empanadas. They came out quickly. 6.50 each and I was able to use Venmo to pay! I pulled one out right away and noticed how big and oily it was. I was thrilled by the size not so much by the oiliness. The outside was very crispy and had a nice flavor besides the oil. The filling was primarily papaya, there was not much meat and the egg was more towards the bottom. Overall I wish there was more meat and the egg was more evenly distributed throughout but I think the size is great for the price. I reccomend eating with the vinegar that comes with it because it helps cut the flavor of the oil. I would come back to support because the gentleman was very nice and my husband and I enjoyed the empanadas even though it was quite oily. read more

Ilocos Empenadas truck is located in Waipahu, same complex where Elena's are. Lots of parking but always full because of all the other eateries close by. I had a crave and wanted to give this place a try so I ordered 1 which cost me $6.50. Took about 20 mins to receive my order, they were busy midday on a Tuesday. The empenada came out hot and crispy, with all the right fillings inside. I liked it but I've had better. There was more Mongo beans and egg inside than longonisa. Still satisfied my craving though. Stumbled upon this truck while getting some coffee. I was like something smells familiar, the smell when I was visiting Vigan in the Philippines Iykyk. I had to get one for myself and the wifey. They were made fresh and of best enjoyed fresh!! The flavor was there along with vinegar sauce on the side!!! Expect a wait but the wait is worth it. I was shocked to see such a low rating but it looks like most of them are due to the wait time. However, they make them to order, so what do you expect? You can't get them fresher, the filling was excellent. I had no idea what it was going to be but it had pork sausage, cabbage and egg with some other stuff. Really wanted to like this place because I like to support small businesses but from start to finish, experience was horrible... VERY UNORGANIZED is an understatement for what I saw/got today. Got there around 11:10. Was told to wait a few minutes because cashier was running an errand. Waited about 10-15 min when 'cashier' finally showed up. He barely greeted me. I ordered the "today's special Xpress" and Large pancit. The today's special xpress was to consist of 2 empanadas, 3 shanghai lumpia, 1 cascaron and a drink for $19. (The regular xpress consists of everything but the cascaron for $17). I was told to wait a few minutes till my order was ready. Waiting waiting waiting and finally around 11:55 my order was ready. Checked the contents and I was missing the cascaron so I asked where it was. The cashier responded with "the Xpress doesn't come with a cascaron" I promptly pointed out that the sign clearly states that it is included. Then he all of a sudden starts explaining that the cascaron for that special was pretty much being given out for "free" so that's why they don't have any cascaron today and that the sign shouldn't say that. So my question is WHY was I charged $19 for the Xpress that is supposed to include a cascaron when it wasn't available to begin with!? I forfeited the drink on this special because the only choices they had for drinks today was either a water or coke. Only 2 choices on drinks. Because I had already been waiting there for pretty much 45 mins and my family was waiting at home for me to bring home their lunch... I didn't have the patience to argue with the cashier so I just left without getting a refund but his customer service was nonexistent at best. Food Review: everything was crazy oily . Pancit had a weird texture. Some noodles were all stuck together in clumps, all broken noodles. Not mixed well. A lot of burnt black char pieces. Pork pieces were straight up fat. OILY! Flavor was ok but couldn't get pass how the noodles were all broken and sittin/drenched in oil. Portion was small for being the Large size. Shanghai Lumpia: OILY. Very small. Very light and crunchy with light flavor because of the lack of filling. Empanada: OILY. Filling was a very mushy weird texture and lacked flavor but was over salted. I got there around 10:30ish am, the man working there said that the order will take 40mins or so, (I ordered 4 empanadas, 3 banana lumpias) so I set a timer for 40 mins.. then waitied.. and waited.. no one from the food truck called out my name or waved or anything, so when the timer was up, I went and checked to see the status of my order and the people were like "oh it was ready a long time ago, we called out but no one came" mind you, I was sitting at a table right in front of their truck, no one called out and said anything. I told them exactly that and they were like oh sorry were still making one more (them trying to cover up lying) after so much people who ordered after me were getting their orders back to back. (Large orders too! Like these people ordered after me!) . I was baffled at them gaslighting me and making me feel like I missed it when I was there waiting, for over an HOUR now. Empanada quality- people on TikTok over hyped it. It didn't taste as good as everyone made it out to be. There was barely meat, then tasting the meat it was flavorless, the vinegar mix didnt taste good. It was just a whole mess. Banan lumpia quality- the taste was alright, too salty for my liking. OMG. Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Ordered pancit and empanadas. OMG the empanadas are so hearty so crispy! Just like I remember them when I had them in Laoag in the Philippines! Went 3 times on 6 days because it was so good! The last time, however, was a big disappointment! First I was rudely asked if I was willing to wait 10 minutes. I went back after 10 minutes and was told there was one order before mine would be made. 20 minutes went by before I received my 2 empanadas. They were not hot, fresh out of the oil. They were warm, filling was like gravy and I could not find the egg unless it had been scrambled into the filling. To compensate for the long wait I was given a can of Sprite.
