The poke at Malama market is one of our favorites on the island. We've been here a few times only for the poke. The staff are friendly and the service is always quick whenever we've stopped in. We love getting their tako and spicy ahi with extra sauce drizzled on the top and sides of the container. Their poke is made fresh daily and just about melts in your mouth because it's so soft. We've brought it to a few family parties whenever we're in Hawaii and our family always asks where we get it from because it's so good. What I also love is that they pack so much in the containers. We usually order by the pound but when my friend and I came in this past Friday to pick up poke, we decided on getting a poke bowl as well for lunch. We were surprised how heavy our bowls felt once got them. We also decided to order some fried chicken from their hot food selection. We were amazed how crispy and delicious it was. The market is down the road from us and convenient when buying one or two items or picking up a Musubi to go. Disappointed in their pricing and not removing sales tags that were a few days old. In middle of baking and discovered we needed a little more sugar. Took a trip down to Malama Market, I knew they are more they Walmart but didn't realize how much more. First of all, I picked the 4 lb bag that was the lowest price based on the tag on the shelf. Clerk rang up it was a bit more than advertised. I said that it was on sale according to tag. She went an looked, brought tag back, oh that sale ended a couple days ago, see red line it's being removed tonight. Like I am suppose to know what a red line means or notice the small print. If it's no longer on sale you remove the sale tag. Not to mention their regular pricing on the sugar is more than twice the price as Walmart. I like to support local businesses but am not willing to cut into my own budget to do so. The positives about market it is closer to our home, not as crowded, nice produce department although more expensive, nice deli area, grab and go Musubi, fairly reasonable price. That being said I will probably head further down the hill in future. read more

My newest favorite place to buy poke. The poke guy knows what he is doing as you can tell he cares about his food. But the fried chicken guy doesn't do a good job as the chicken I bought was too dry but tasty. read more

Ono poke, my favorite is the Korean poke with sweet kimchi sauce and spicy ahi. They have a variety of food and bentos. Friendly workers.

Convenience at its finest. They are Always well stocked. Workers are always helpful and friendly. Decent size section of produce. Meat and poultry a little small but good enough for last minute pickups. They have a pretty good selection of Beer and wine. I find what I'm looking for most of the time. Poke is one of the best. They run out fast of the good stuff, especially peak hours, around 2pm-5pm and weekends. read more

Malaga market is the place to go when you want to find Fresh produce on the shelves!! Their deli station is awesome, once I went and they were selling prime rib :) I didn't go for prime rib but because it was there and looked as if it just came out of the oven I had to get it!! Truly a treasure! Kapolei has a lot of places to buy groceries, but Malama is hands down MY FAVORITE!!! The deli, produce, meat & seafood selections are always so fresh, and their friendly, helpful staff is always there to help you find what you need. Their cooked foods are also yummy, especially the whole chicken they offer. Tasty, indeed! They also have the tastiest, fresh poke! And, my favorite cashier Jeannie is there to ensure my shopping experience is a great one. To those with comments about parking - try to slow down. Hands down one of the best poke places on the island. It's in a grocery store-so don't expect it to be a sit down restaurant,etc. Also, prices are very reasonable compared to other poke places. Definitely stop by/visit if in the area. read more

It's better to come to Malama then Foodland down the street even though same company. Why? Poke is $17 per pound at Malama and it's $27 down by ASB. Same stuff, cheaper at Malama. And their staff and players lunch, also much better. read more

OMG! I love this store!! It's so quaint... and so well stocked with so many ono things to choose from! My son has been talking about this place for years. But I live on the Windward side so a visit here was quite unique. First, the poke is great!!! Second, the poke counter service at the deli is pretty awesome too!! Blade was so accommodating when I went back with my Spicy Ahi poke...because I wasn't aware there was a SECRET sauce!! (Good thing the local Braddah after me told me). I also grabbed an assortment of beverages...green bottles, silver cans of bubbly seltzer, flavored sparkling ICE for the keiki. Went here for breakfast with my mentors before a job and was surprised that I really enjoyed the food! The price can't be beat and I believe they do charge you based either on weight or pieces but it all tasted fresh and was delicious! Best part. All under $5! read more

This market is kind of like a mini version of a grocery store. They offer a variety of things. They have a hot food section, they have fresh baked goods, freshly chopped fruits, poke and sushi. And then, they have all the things you would find at a typical grocery store but add a smaller variety. Day or night the employees here are very friendly and helpful. There's plenty of parking. This was first time coming in this store. I heard great about this store . I bought Bento breakfast for my team . They have a variety of set bentos . They have Vienna's sausage with scramble eggs and 1 scoop of rice. Or Portuguese and spam. Usually the price before was abt $5.00 but I priced went up so now bentos are range from $7 and up depending on the meat you picked. The store is organized and very clean. The cashier are very friendly and smiling. I came here Around 6:30 am and it's not crowded. Though the parking is not much wide but I can only imagine if it's too busy it might be a problem reversing and going in and out . Would recommend for early shoppers read more

Since we are all in this pandemic, If you want a quick shop for food necessities, this is the right place!! They pretty much have everything from rice, bread, fresh produce, meat, canned goods, to desserts. They also have paper towels and toilet papers and they limit it to one per customer. Malama Market is on Makakilo Drive where the old Pantry used to be and is also next to Coffee Bean. The store is very convenient for anything you may need. I prefer going to this store versus driving down to Kapolei and fight traffic. You may pay a little bit more but it's worth having to fight traffic. The store has everything from a deli, a poke station, hot food items and sushi if you want to pick up something to eat that's quick. They also have a produce section, fresh meats and everything in between. They have a wide selection of beers, hard liquors, and wines as well. There's also a bank of Hawaii ATM machine outside of the store just in case you need one. For anyone that needs flowers or leis, they have those on hand as well. The employees are very friendly and are always more than willing to help you! read more

I only been here a few times very convenient, last night I came to get 3 cans of tomato sauce and was amazed at how the employees handle having a very long line. Malama Market doesn't want you to spend too much money at their store. That's the only conclusion I can reach after they're eliminated all the hand baskets. The only options now are to use a cart or limit your purchases to what you can carry around the store in your arms. To be clear, using a hand cart here is not a good option at all. Malama is not the kind of place you do your grocery shopping. It's where you stop when you need a few things quick. If you've ever stepped inside the store, you know it's tightly packed, and there's no room for several people walking around with carts. Terribly inconvenient. Will not be shopping here until they fix this idiotic decision. Bring back the baskets. read more

Yes, I have a thing for small grocery stores, but this one is my favorite because it has a good selection of a lot of things. Fruits, veggies, frozen food, cooked food, dessert, and even POKE! I love the fact that have ready to go section with things like Mac salad, somen salad, drinks, snacks, sandwiches, etc packed up waiting for you to put in your lunch bag for work. They were smart making that little section. Also my son said to mention they have the best musubi! I love their onion ahi poke and limu poke. Apple Pay may not work there. Malama Market located on Makakilo Drive reminds me of a small version of Foodland. Malama Market is conveniently located next to the Aloha Island Mart (Aloha Gas Station) and connected to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. The grocery store would be the last minute stop for Makakilo residents to get groceries for the home, hot meals, poke, and alcohol. There's even a Red Box located on the premises. As I walked through the aisles of Malama Market I was greeted by the employees of the store. My legs kept taking me towards the poke station and hot food section. The temptation to order half pound of poke and a few crispy drumsticks was there but I'm gonna save it for my next visit. I even noticed the Ted's Bakery pies in the cold open air case... Chocolate Haupia Cream pie sounds yummy right about now. Malama Market also has an entrance that leads to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I'll head back to Makakilo and visit Malama Market again in the future. Who knows maybe I might meet Dave C and his family while I'm there. 145/200 read more
