Love coming to Waianae Store! Go there at least 4-5 times a week. The store is always clean and organized. Their selection of meats and fish are great! Recently stayed the week in Waianae and stumbled across this store. Let me start off by saying that the employees here are so friendly! Their desserts dare I say are much tastier than other supermarkets on island. 10/10 would purchase their mochi and pumpkin crunch pie. One of two main grocery stores in Waianae. Smaller and much more personable. Deli with plate lunches is on point! No loooong line like Tamura's AND more food in each plate. The full service bakery is also good, get the oatmeal raisin cookies or the glazed donuts. Their morning bentos are also delicious. This sore usually has close-dates and sometimes funky flavors of drinks and sodas. Liquor department is pretty good, large variety. read more

This is a pretty unique grocery store for Oahu, just because it seems like the only grocery stores left are foodland, safeway or times. The Waianae store reminds me of a foodland or times in that it offers a range of food and household needs. Just looking around briefly, I did see some packaged goods I've never seen before... like little mochi bites people put on shave ice. Once you enter the store, you'll go through the little turnstile.... I haven't seen a turnstile outside of Disneyland for a long time, so that was cool. Lol. You can get your usual packaged food items in the store aisles, but they also have a poke display right near the entrance of the store. I guess they don't trust customers to order poke and walk around the store, so they set aside your poke order and you can only pay at the one register near the poke. The poke is pretty good. It says it's fresh ahi, but mine tasted a little off today. I'll definitely come back to try it again though, along with the other poke they have. I LOVE that you can add unagi sauce on top and that it's only $8! I also really like that they make the poke bowls with cold rice.... it sounds weird, but I don't like that the poke bowls at foodland are always made with steaming hot rice. It makes the poke warm.... At the aforementioned cash register, you can also pick up bakery items like muffins, doughnuts, brownies and little experimental creations like custard with a piece of brownie on top. The baked goods are also reasonably priced. I don't often visit the west side, but I'll make sure to grab a poke bowl from the Waianae Store before hitting the beach next time I'm there! read more

Cute a little supermarket in the Waiane/Pokai Bay Area. This market carries all your normal grocery essentials and more. What I like is there also is closeout sections. I items like found 24 units of Bundenberg root beer for $1.99, 2 liter Pepsi 6pk for $9.99, 750ml alcohol for $1.50. My favorite treat fresh mochi is served fresh on the weekends around noon. The Waianae Store poke department is a hidden gem!! If you aren't from Waianae you wouldn't know, since most would likely stop at the other grocery store. The fish is fresh and there are lots of different poke to choose from. If you don't want any of the poke available, you can "make" your own and they'll prep it for you. Last visit I got the half pound of limu, alaea, spicy lomi ahi and tako. Prices are decent, and poke very delicious!! The customer service was good as usual and I love the black and white tile that's been there forever. Had their poke bowl for $8.99. I usually can taste if the fish was frozen and the poke did not taste like it was frozen. The amount of poke was a little bigger than a can of tuna 6-8 oz.. It kinda had a lot of sauce on it though, but that was probably my mistake. I agreed to the addition of spicy sauce and shoyu on the rice. One of two grocery stores that serve Waianae and Makaha. The location is between two bus stops for those who depend on public transportation. There's a recycling center on the premises, water machine out front by the entrance, and you can also purchase propane for your small propane tank. It's not only a grocery store where you can pick up all your household items....they also have a bakery. Every morning as you enter the store you can smell the aromas of fresh baked pastries like butter rolls, malasadas, and assorted donuts. I have a habit of getting at least half dozen butter rolls and a couple twist donuts or even a custard filled long john donut. This is the store where I go for last minute items that I need for home. The prices are very reasonable and the shelves are fully stocked. Where else can you get a gallon of orange juice for $5.99 when on sale? I agree with others, the selection isn't as extensive as Tamuras in Waianae but at the same time I like shopping here better for some reason. I love the breakfast bentos they have in the morning that are already packaged and ready to go. Super cheap too! The Waianae store is a hometown market favorite and old-timers still call it "the green store." It's the place to go when you just need a few items, but also, they have cakes and a poke section. There's no thrills and frills here. It's got a really old country-island vibe and that's part of why we love it. I think we most often come for a birthday cake or those grab n go bentos, but sometimes they have better sales or specials than tamuras so definitely check them out if you're grocery shopping and you're new to the area. read more

Wow, I can't believe the reviews here don't talk about the FRESH made-to-order POKE!!!! I thought I was a poke aficionado since birth and everyone knows about Tamashiro's and Alicia's Market... But it makes a HUGE difference in taste and texture when you opt to spoil yourself (or loved ones) with island FRESH fish vs. the FROZEN fish meat. located in the heart of Waianae. Being raised here on the West side I remember this store from forever. This shopping store has lots of parking. Sometimes car washes are held in the back of the parking lot area. When entering you have to go single file between a spinner thing. You can find a little of everything in this store. Now if you're from Waianae you know there's two major shopping stores whether your true die-hard fan of the Waianae store or where your true die-hard fan of tamura's both stores are awesome. I think the Waianae store is more of a cross between Longs Drugs and tamura's. You can find both miscellaneous things and groceries in this store. What I like about this store is the customer service everyone that I've ever encountered in this store has been friendly and for that I appreciate that most. read more

Has anyone heard of the Waianae Store? K, next time you're out to Yokohama or cruising on the west syde, stop at this store on the makai side of the highway down the street from Longs. Why? 1) Family owned. The same family has owned and run this store for three generations. Want to stick it to the W-lmarts? Support local businesses like this! 2) Fresh poke made to order. YES. Read that. Does Hole Foods do that? NOPE. Sesame onion, limu onion... they have a "shoyster" poke which is shoyu + oyster sauce that is AMAZING (unfortunately not made to order). 3) Poi. Awesome. 4) Beer, sunscreen, snacks, fruits, full bakery, beer. But really...the poke....I don't know how they hid from the travel guides for so long. I'm almost tempted to tip them off. read more

Locally owned business, Wai'anae Store has been known in my family for a few things: Pupu Style BBQ meat and Bakery! When the store opens at 7am and you walk in to see pastries coming right out of the oven, you can't wait to dive in with more than a dozen! They make a great variety of donuts and croissants! They carry two different companies of pies and cakes- Liliha Bakery and Ted's Bakery. Their bentos and breakfast bentos are 'Ono and worth the price! $2.99 and $3.49 bentos with a mix of rice, eggs, and mixed meats- spam, redondo's hotdog, bacon, Vienna sausage, Portuguese sausage, and BBQ meat. Each month this store continues to improve. Selection is great, matched with low prices on many items. They bring in different items that you do not see in most larger grocery stores. Milk prices are usually the lowest on the island. The antiquated checkout aisles are cute, and the check out men/women are always nice. They provide unlimited FREE reusable bags for packing up your order. I always bring the bags from previous trips. Propane is available, along with many varieties of seed/feed for various animals. Their deli section makes some great poke, using the freshest fish. At the beginning of the month when EBT cards are recharged, most check out aisles are open making shopping tolerable. I stop into the Waianae store at least 3-4 times each week and am never disappointed. read more

Me and my son came into the store today 2/16/20 to buy there famous ahi patties! We went down to the beach to have breakfast and as we continued to eat we noticed it had a sour taste. We brushed it off but then soon after My son couldn't finish his meal without feeling extremely sick. He had chest pains and difficulty breathing. we went home then I started to have dizzy spells with extreme stomach pain. Then my son broke out in HIVES. He had to shower to cool off and take Tylenol. I was on the toilet for 2 hours! I had to sleep off the dizzy spells and upset stomach. We called to complain and just received a sorry. No offer of a refund, nothing. I think the Dept. of Health should get involved, it wasn't to bad that it was me, but the pain my son was in is what made me so upset. Please check your fish before serving it to the community please make sure staff washes there hands continuously and please make sure not to cross contaminate any food. I say this because they also have breakfast bentos, idk if they cook it in the same pan. Very disappointed long time customer. read more

I enjoy shopping at waianae store. I can usually find everything I need and the crowd is way less than Tamuras. The store is clean. They even sell propane if you need. This store pretty much looks the same for the past twenty something years lol. Anyway if you live/lived in Waianae you've probably been here since our grocery store selection is limited. However, they also have a bakery that carries larrys cakes and pies and I can remember getting chantilly cakes here ever since. 4 stars because they have reasonable prices, friendly staff and it's a Waianae thing lol. But really, part of this rating is for their poke selection. They may not be as large as tamuras or food land but what they offer is just As good. They also offer plain fresh ahi or prev. frozen, where you can customize what you want inside. Prices are normal for the fish market, (expensive) but worth it. Love their Kim Chee shrimp too. Lots of different things to try. Sometimes if you go in the morning they have bentos prepared that have chicken, Teri beef, hotdog, fish patties etc. Also if you ever need to have a cake frozen for traveling, you can call them and ask them to freeze it for you. I'm not sure if they did this for all cakes but my sister used to do this all time when she wanted to take Larry's chantilly cake back to Maui. Try it out if you're in the Westside. read more
