Shopping at Longs Drugs store on the west side, Waianae side…read more Made a stop at this Longs, always need to make a stop at a Longs no matter what part of the island I'm at, hehe. This longs is located at Waianae Mall, I'm sure the Waianae community is grateful to have this Longs, saves a trip from driving in to Kapolei. My observation, nice, clean, fully stocked on merchandise, and YES. I noticed that most of the items are locked up in the cabinets including toiletries, shampoo, deodorant, detergent, and even can foods! (reminds me of shopping at a store in San Fran) I would say it may take longer than your usual shopping trip if you need these products and to get assistant. There's is a nice selections of fruit, veggies here, more than at other Longs store, nice orchid plants, and bakery items of sweet bread & mochi. For this visit I just needed some alcohol, snacks, toothbrush for our next staycation, so it was a quick stop and ended up with plums and packs of udon noods too ( in store special 2/$1) Only 2 cashiers working, line got long quick but it moved pretty fast. No self check out at this location. "Make Longs a part or your day", as I did just that over here, hehe!!

She helped me look then said she was going in the back to look, she was running around before she helped me. Helping others prior. So I figured she was gonna say she looked but wasn't really going to. I was already on the phone trying to find another location. But she came back around the corner and found it. She said she moved things around and found it. I was so grateful. Her name was Sherri.

Friendly greeting and welcoming vibes upon entrance into…read morethe store. I miss coming to this spot with family to get plate lunches when we lived down in waianae, but since we haven't been to this location in a while we finally made the attempt yesterday from Kapolei to come down to Maili. I'm happy we did because the pastele plates we got was 1/1 mild and spicy with Mac salad and 2 scoop rice. The meat was tender and savory giving you the correct amount of flavor with seasoning and balance. You can tell they put the heart into making these. Although there are many variations to Pasteles this one is my favorite. The Mac salad is good also better than other places I've tried. The opihi I also brought and added my own sauce to it with and enjoyed it with their Hawaiian Style (Inamona) poke on the side. My only recommendation is the panadeja was more of a pulled pork look and of course that's what it is but I was looking for more of a stew consistency of which it was not. Now don't get me wrong the flavor wasn't lacking and was juicy but it was just shredded pork inside and you can see couple of black olives that's it. I will still purchase them but a slight upgrade would be nice to those, just my opinion.

Its a two story green building right off the highway. There is 6 or 7 parking spaces in front and a few on thr side of thebuilding. The entrance is in the middle of the building. The staff is super cool. Cory (pic) was super friendly and welcomed us with a smile The insides is of an old school general store setting but the main seller here is their food. A lot of varietyon the menu (pic) we went with the chicken wings (good) lau lau (ok) shoyu chicken (phenomenal) I am sure they sell out for sure!!! and the empanadas(soo good!!) They probably sell out of this too. Portions was fair and prices reasonable. (Nothing is cheap anymore) Its a place I always drove by and wondered about but now next time I am in the area will be stopping by here for sure!! A hidden jem in plain sight
