We usually order a complete thanksgiving dinner every year instead of cooking (hate cooking all day), but started late this year, and the only place that hadn't run out was Sack N Save in Nanakuli. Well, let me tell you, it was worth the drive, because the meal was delicious. We got a 13 pound pre-cooked Butterball with all the trimmings for less than 80 bucks, phenomenal price, that came with mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, a pumpkin pie, sweet rolls and plenty of brown gravy. I am a frequent flyer at this location and Foodland, getting the salt and vinegar wings, salmon dip, and a variety of salads. The salads have been really helpful with my clean-eating and weightloss journey. This is a mixed review because I just got a long hair in the last bite of my Chinese Chicken Salad. The only time I will shop here if I'm in a hurry. i always get my cakes from this place and I'm so disappointed in the new cake decorator this is the second time I've dealt with this type of service I ordered a cake for my sons 13 th birthday and wanted the waianae box lettering and have it saying waianae tigers it came out like a little kid wrote it omg so I called and complained so they said bring back the cake and they will make another one so I confirmed before hanging up if they could get it right this time she said yes they will I went back and got the cake and mind you gave back the other one and they said they will probably put it in the front???? If you live in the West side of Oahu, this store got to be the best store to go to. It got many many selections. They have local vegetables other stores don't have. Much more fruit selections as well. The parking can get crazy busy sometimes, I imagine. I always come here off hours so busy parking is not a big deal for me. The staff here are very courteous. The store is very clean as well. Covid mitigation is enforced in this store. I don't know but I like buying my mussel poke here. They got to have the freshest poke around unlike other stores poke which are previously frozen. Very close to my house and it so convenient to just drop by after work whenever I feel like cooking tinola or pork sinigang since they got all the ingredients here. Indeed, a one stop shop. Sack N Save. (2 stars). Sack N Save is a subsidiary of Foodland. Two years ago when I moved to Waianae I found out there was a location in Nanakuli. I was happy since it would be on my way home to Waianae and I could stop to get fresh fish and fresh poke amongst other things that I'm used to getting in the "Town" Foodland!! Slam on the brakes!! Take a breath!! Sigh!! Grunt!! This Sack N Save is nothing like the one near the stadium or Foodland in general. The poke is ALWAYS FROZEN NEVER FRESH!! I bought a bag of oysters to grill on the 4th of July and even though the date on the bag said it was still fresh... ALL OF THE OYSTERS WERE SPOILED!! The produce area is very lacking... This location rarely has jalapeños or cilantro!!?? Forget about asking for habaneros!! Whenever I ask an employee where something is I usually just get a blank stare or a mumble of an aisle number. The only thing this location has going for it is that they still participate in the Hawaiian Miles program. Came in to get a single slice of dobash cake for my Uncle's birthday. Saw mold on the red velvets so I didn't feel comfortable buying the singles. I ended up buying a half cake. I asked if I could have something written on it. They told me "it's too hard to write on those" and that they only write on full size cakes. I just wanted it to say "Bob." Fair enough I guess. With that aside, it's unacceptable to be displaying cakes with mold. I've attached photos. They are two separate pieces of red velvet cake with mold, maybe from the same cake. Update: Came in again to buy pumpkin pie for this past Thanksgiving. My folks had a trip so we ended up having our thanksgiving on Saturday instead of Thursday. I bought it Friday night, the very next day Saturday it already had mold. This is the second time I've experienced mold at this store and it is unacceptable. Three stars seems about right. Not a huge organic section for the earthy-crunchy types, but a little bit here and there (free range organic eggs for $7.79/dozen, free range organic chicken, etc.). The produce section left a lot to be desired. I liked the pancake mix section! I haven't tried 'em yet, but we splurged on a Maui Pancake Co. mix for Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pancakes for $7.89 (how decadent does that sound?!) and Quaker Oatmeal Pancake Mix for $4.89. It's not as healthy as the organic whole grain mixes I saw at Down To Earth, but they caught my eye. We bought some bananas and macadamia nuts to put in our non-chocolate pancakes. We'll see how they taste. We ended up with three not-so-huge bags of groceries for $60 - the price of shopping in Hawaii. A basic supermarket that should meet most of your needs. I'm giving Sack N Save five stars because of how they administer their rewards program. For example, at QFC, Safeway and Fred Meyer in the Pac Northwest, you have to submit a filled-out application prior to realizing any rewards discounts. But at Sack N Save, where we had never shopped before, when the checker entered our phone number into their system, the discounts then automatically applied. We watched with great pleasure as on the computer screen, the discounts kicked in, item by item. In the end, the Sack N Save program rewards program saved us over 20% on our purchases. Also, it was a nice touch that our checker offered, right there on the spot, to twist the crown off our pineapple - which she did in expert fashion. read more

My most recent visit to Sack N Save, part of the Foodland chain, was on the day I was scheduled to work in Nanakuli. I came into the supermarket to check out what food items will catch my eyes and satisfy my cravings. I walked straight to the seafood section where the male employee behind the display case greeted me. I asked for half pound of ahi poke (not sure if it was shoyu or oyster) and a quarter pound of lomi salmon. The male employee scooped each other the two items in separate containers and weighed it. He made sure he placed the sticker label on the containers too. I then walked to the hot deli section of the supermarket. Another male employee greeted me and me if I wanted anything. "Could I have three drumsticks," was my reply. The chicken drumsticks were deep fried and crispy. The male employee bagged my three drumsticks and he even asked me if I wanted any rice which I declined. I got my drumsticks, ahi poke, and lomi salmon...I think this will satisfy my craving. Time to head to the checkout counter. I placed all my lunch items on the counter and the female cashier greeted me. I made sure I had my Maikai rewards card out...one never knows which items stay on sale with the Maikai rewards card. I managed to get enough points for a reward. Very cool. If and when I am in Nanakuli...Sack N Save will always be my go to place for fresh poke and fried chicken. The employees are always friendly...in fact I recognize some of the employees as my customers of the 24hr convenience store I work at. I also love that ASB is located inside here. This place is classic. Always good to come for an experience and great deals. Every time we on this side and stop by I'm always amazed at how inexpensive the cost of meat is. Totally worth the trip. This place has character. Even our cart had its own personality with its wobbly wheel. The employees here are always so real, helpful, kind and funny. The lady at the till had great customer service helping us remember things we needed like ice, chopsticks and forks. Such an asset for these two sleepy parents! We love coming here for our beach food to fill our coolers before a day of fun and love coming back after our long days in the sun for some great deals on meats to bbq for dinner. Also the gaderaide is only like 80 cents! Come on somebody, prices this great are only on the west side. Just make sure you check expire dates, haha. I love the Foodland chains and I do like Sack n Save. For some reason the meat quality here is a bit..meh! The pricing is what gets me, it's a lot more expensive here than in town. If it wasn't for the pricing and poor meat quality and variety, I would have given this location 5 stars. The plus to this location is the employees are very courteous, the store is up kept well and shelves are usually stocked well with the exception of the beginning of the month, we all know that's the busiest time. I tend to shop here everyday as they have REALLY good manager specials, and it isn't all gross or browning. Keep the prices down, bring in more selection (please I need a steak selection that does say "chuck") and this place will definitely be a favorite. read more

I came in here on 7/18/10 to pick up milk for the little one. This place was the only one open since we just arrived in O'ahu and close to our destination. Oh man I wish there was other places that was open. I went to get the milk and I could only find either exprired on 7/18/10 or the next day I couldn't find any date that was in August which is usually how it goes. This is my first time I have EVER seen a date on the day I go to the market. (which my cousin said they are lazy here and just push the almost expired date close to the front.) I had to reach all the way in the back for a milk that expire 7/26/10. That even is still to close to 7/18/10. So gross. I informed the cashier who was so nice. (and that is the one store for) She told me she will inform the mngr. I'm still grossed out in how old the milk was. I have always said that this store is owned by foodland, and has to be one of the worst grocery stores on island. They have no pride in there store. It is always disgusting in the store. It's like no one cares to make any improvements to include the owners!!! Parking: lots of parking but on the beginning of the month or payday you may have to walk a whiles to get an open stall This location is always realistically busy because it is one of two grocery options for this area and after sitting in traffic post work day a lot of people don't want to stop off in Kapolei so they head here Definitely ur usual layout for ur Foodland sack n save western union produce deli seafood meat etc This location is the MAIN PLACE I go to for poke. All Foodland sack n save locations have good poke but for ahi limu and spicy ahi I come here. Foodland Kapolei spicy ahi is pretty runny and their ahi limu taste funky to me, I like my limu thin and crunchy and the ahi limu at Foodland Kapolei is super thick and hard Great amazing staff! read more

I enjoy coming here for great produce to make stir fry. I grab meats when on sale or if I really need it. They sell good chorizo farmer John brand it's excellent. I also buy pillsbury biscuits always on sale too. The deli is good bakery has great donuts n breads seafood can't complain it's Ono. Then there's the drinks soda n Gatorade always on sale too. Sack N Save Deli Department... Just bought a Chocolate Haupia Pie. It looked nice, but that was about it. The chocolate pudding they used didn't taste right, it had an lingering taste that was awful. The Haupia you could hardly taste, it seemed watered down. Quite frankly it was a waste of money. I would not recommend buying any pies from their deli. I come here on the weekends to buy add-ons for my lunch since Nanakuli to me is a desolate neighborhood. One bank, one grocery store, few gas stations - it's the epitome of isolation. The prices I believe are similar to the Foodland's in town - okay, can't complain. The star of this store is Kristina; always a smile on her face and so personable. If I had to go to Safeway because there was a sale or come here for a dollar more, I'd come to Sack and Save. This will now be the nearest grocery store to my house so I went in today to load up my empty fridge. I wasn't sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by a few things. One they had local grass fed lean beef (90%) which was a plus. The beer selection was better than expected. They had a nice selection of popular beers from San Diego, Iron Fist, Green Flash, Mission, Coronado and the way over hyped Ballast Point. I wish they had Trippel from Green Flash as it's my favorite one from that brewery but they had good selection of IPAs so I was happy. I even found a beer from Eureka and at under $6 for a pint I grabbed two. The produce prices are pretty good I even saw apples for $0.59/lb! Overall, I was able to get the basics. The staff was super friendly and nice. Which is nice since I will be doing the majority of my grocery shopping here. read more

I couldn't give less than 1 star. I would like to have given no star. Sack N Save and Foodland DO NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW State or City Mandates because they are privately owned. Both the Mayor and Governors offices said to use another store since Foodland is operating in the gray area, mandating mask or face shields to be worn. After calling their corporate office they said they can refuse service to anyone who does not comply with THEIR rules. The dilemma lies in the hands of the ccustomer.Foodland mandates some sort of face covering (mask or face shield) even if you have breathing problems like chronic asthma, COPD, lung cancer. How is it they are considered essential? If you want to serve the general public you have to follow the rules not make up your own. If face shields/masks are recommended then you should sell them. When this stay at home order is lifted Kupuna like myself will CHOOSE to patronize other stores. I will let my family and friends know to boycott your services. When you file for Chapter 11 I will be smiling knowing that I helped your business fail. read more

The deli and seafood counters have all the same items the other Foodlands/Sack 'n Saves have. Haven't tried their poke bowls yet but plan to by the end of the week.
