I honestly don't remember it being like this, but I'm guessing no renovations of any type has occurred for those years. They have those touch gambling machines lining the center of the store. The machines are always being used. It's dimly lit and reeks of cigarette, yes, the cashier smokes in the store and while she rings you up. There isn't much here. You have your typical grocery items, snacks and sundries. Shelves are usually empty, but the freezers (drinks) are full. The one plus is they tend to have those hard to find snacks here. I am obsessed with the dark chocolate moon pies which are 2/$1 and they also carry tamarind..yum. The decor shows the age of this establishment and the "regular" customers may make you think twice about walking in here. If you're looking for a bright, airy, happy place, drive a bit further down. Want boot-leg snacks, bingo!

What a morning! I…read morewas driving my peers safely home around 5 AM during the Hurricane, and it was quite the drive with the weather conditions. We were tired, hungry, and definitely needed some sustenance before continuing our way home. THANK GOODNESS this 7-Eleven was open! We were able to grab some musubis, sandwiches, hot food, drinks, and everything we needed for the rest of the drive. There is something about 7-Eleven Hawai'i that just hits different, especially when you need something quick and comforting. I also really appreciate the employees who showed up and kept this location running despite the weather. Being able to stop somewhere warm, grab food, and recharge for a little bit made such a difference for us that morning. Thank you to the team working during the hurricane and taking care of everyone who came through. Your work definitely did not go unnoticed. Stay safe, Hawai'i!

It's a Tuesday, but they were busy! Being bust is not the problem. Tonight was the first time I saw people shop lifting. I mean, they grab stuff and walk out the door! Where's the security??? Have them stand near the door or something. The staff need to be vigilant too. Walk up to customers and greet them. Ask if they need help as a way to deter shop lifting. It's like saying, "I see you." Tonight, one employee on register, another on the floor, and I assume one stocking coolers, because she came out later. I was wondering why a woman wearing a hoody, letting everyone cut in line was doing. There was a stack of bentos on the side counter in front of her. No one wondered why she just stood there?? She walked with everything and ran to a car parked across the street. Then, a male walked in with a shopping bag, then came out without standing in line. He took out a bento from the bag! I'm like, WTH! I'm out of here! SMH!!!

Friendly greeting and welcoming vibes upon entrance into…read morethe store. I miss coming to this spot with family to get plate lunches when we lived down in waianae, but since we haven't been to this location in a while we finally made the attempt yesterday from Kapolei to come down to Maili. I'm happy we did because the pastele plates we got was 1/1 mild and spicy with Mac salad and 2 scoop rice. The meat was tender and savory giving you the correct amount of flavor with seasoning and balance. You can tell they put the heart into making these. Although there are many variations to Pasteles this one is my favorite. The Mac salad is good also better than other places I've tried. The opihi I also brought and added my own sauce to it with and enjoyed it with their Hawaiian Style (Inamona) poke on the side. My only recommendation is the panadeja was more of a pulled pork look and of course that's what it is but I was looking for more of a stew consistency of which it was not. Now don't get me wrong the flavor wasn't lacking and was juicy but it was just shredded pork inside and you can see couple of black olives that's it. I will still purchase them but a slight upgrade would be nice to those, just my opinion.
