Chop jae, tofu patties, kimbap sushi
    Deborah P.

I've been craving for kimbap sushi and chop Jae. So today we went to buy that sushi and chop Jae. I even bought the tofu patties. Since I've been into watching Korean dramas lately the way they eat the dishes they serve looks so good. So I was going to buy different kinds of banchan but it didn't have what I wanted. Kim chee, shoyu potato etc was in large containers it would take me and my husband for days to eat. Lol... the tofu patties were good chop Jae good but my kimbap sushi was a big disappointment it was spoiled. So there went my craving. I always make sure the date and time is stamped within the times they make it and make sure to eat it before it expires. Oh well next time I guess.

I've visited the OG Palama Supermarket several times now. I usually come in to grab Vegetable Kimbap and/or a can/bottle of coffee or tea. Small parking lot fronts the entrance, which is accessible from South King Street via a small side lane...a bit of an awkward turn into the entrance. Exit is on South King. Prices are good. One or two checkout lanes are usually available. Hours are from 0800 till 0800. There is a small eatery inside - back left - for typical Korean food.

This location is great. It's so near my office, I can pick up lunch or dinner on the way home. Look for the pink building on North King St. near the HCC canal. Lots of parking, and even if the lot is full, stalls open up quickly. Be patient. The selection of grab n go food is extensive. From 3-4 different Kimbap, to bentos to sides like squash jun and imitation scallop tempura, to sweet duk & yaksik for dessert, to fresh made duk for soup, and sweet mochi rice. Panchan is no longer self serve. Everything is packaged. Great selection of produce items, including dried persimmons, my dad's favorite, and Korean pear. Palama snack corner, where the kimbap and grab n go's are prepared, also sell made to order plate lunches and soups. They can make special request Kimbap. (I order Palama Kimbap, no egg, extra meat or spinach.) Discovered some new products like the Tteokboki almonds and the wasabi almonds in the snack aisle. I've had other flavors straight from Korea, and I hope they bring them in! (Hazelnut Bong Bong is chocolate! Who doesn't like chocolate?!?)

My favorite Korean supermarket! Great selection of snacks and ready lunches with something new every time i go. The place is clean and nicely organized and staff working there very helpful! I love going there and trying new things

It's not a big store but it's what you need. It has basically all your Korean food staples. The butcher shop has all those thinly sliced cuts of meat for your grill. Noodles? Yes. Frozen, dried, ddukbokki? Yes. All that is there. Do you want to serve you meals like it in K-drama? Gold aluminum pots, kimchi ceramic pots. And those essential stainless steel chopsticks! All there. Stop by for ready made foods like raw crab, kimchi of all kinds (in jars, by the pound!) You'll find plenty of good stuff at Palama market.

    Kimchee Stew

Bought cheap dinner Kim Chee Stew for $12 with tax included. They gave a lot and it was very tasty. In fact, it was more tastier than some of the higher priced kimchee stew at other restaurants. Moreover, the staff are very friendly.

It's been years since I last walked into this Palama Supermarket location. I think the last time I came here, it was to eat at Von's Chicken as Von's had a small food kiosk within this supermarket. A lot has changed since I last came here, as Von's Chicken is no longer inside of Palama Market. The parking lot attendant that used to work in the parking lot is no longer there, but of course the Palama Supermarket is not as busy as they used to be. Going to a Palama Supermarket is like going to Don Quijote, only difference is, instead of finding Japanese grocery items, this store is all about the Korean items! The day I came here, I was looking for something to eat, and this market has tons of "pre-made" food. Upon looking over the hot food offerings, I decided to pick up with a Fish Jun Bento. What can I say about the grub? For $8.50, I got a pretty reasonably priced bento (see my pic). The Fish Jun Bento wasn't the best bento I've ever tasted, but it did do it's job by filling up my big belly! Also after picking up my food, I decided to pick up some Chinese cabbage for my dad. Little did I know, and I should have figured this out............Palama Supermarket probably had the BEST price per pound for their Chinese cabbage! I guess since Kim Chee is a staple in Korean cuisine, I should have known that the price for their Chinese cabbage was the cheapest compared to the other supermarkets! If you're ever in the Palama neighborhood and are feeling "Korean" that day, may I suggest you stop by this little supermarket to see what treasures you can score that day. :D

    Shrimp fried rice
    Donna Y.

Groceries, bentos, snacks...cannot beat this place! I had always heard how the sushi and bentos were good. What a selection and cannot beat the prices for the hot and ready foods! When I think of Korean food, two syllables - MANDOO! I grabbed a pack of fried mandoo for just $3.50!!! And they have a variety available! Chives, Kim Chee...so many choices! My family likes fried rice! Look no further! Shrimp, Kim Chee, Kalbi...and then don't get me talking about the bentos and Korean sushi rolls! Went at 11:30 am on a Sunday and the parking lot had plenty of spaces and the store wasn't that crowded :) I'll definitely be back!

A mountain of shredded cabbage with a layer of meat jun...
    LARA S.

Note this is just for hot prepared food that I bought today not for the market... If you think you're going to get a mound of meat jun, you're not. Very deceptive. And that's fine but maybe advertise as a mound of shredded cabbage with a layer or two of meat Jun on top. So just a heads up that you aren't going to get a whole bunch of meat jun, but you will get a whole bunch of cabbage. And don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with cabbage but maybe call it what it is, meat jun atop a mound of cabbage. I mean you can't even call that a bed of cabbage. It's a mound...

This is the little eatery area in the back corner.

Prices for merchandise are pretty high, like $30-50 for a medium Hello Kitty plush, but I guess everything in Hawaii is pretty expensive. But what we loved about this store was the grocery section. They had an amazing selection of grab-and-go foods. We had a scrumptious dinner of donburi, teriyaki chicken bento, tuna oniguri, bluefin otoro nigiri and more. Husband is here on a business trip, so work paid for our meals. Keeping up with the inventory is quite a feat at Donki stores--there's SO MUCH stuff! Definitely a fun place to walk around because there's so much to see. My husband and I agreed that it would be so awesome if there was a store like this closer to us in Rocklin.

Nah nah but I'd rather YOU go in yourself to see it instead of listening to me on what I liked or thought. They have so much new and yummy flavored chips and I swear... it tastes GOOD! I got the buldak flavor, crab (MY FAVORITE), steak (my husbands choice), chicken, cucumber flavor, ketchup, lobster, chicken and then they have some others I didn't think to try like avocado or nori. I figured they'd be good for a second try. But the best was the apricot snacks! Idk ‍ it's probably because I needed it. But overall, it's NOT DRIED OUT! Not YET at least. Anywho, they've been out for about a year and they look as if they're not that busy. So, I'm hoping this will get MORE people to go here and visit to keep them open and so they CAN bring in MORE Asian snacks that we ALL wait for. Okie dokes! Thanks for reading and enjoy!

The back of the store now has lights on. You can see in the back of the store. You no longer need to be apprehensive about venturing in the back of the previously unlit store. There is air conditioning, however, it doesn't seem to work well. I was in here for ten minutes and perspiring due to humidity and heat. I asked the one employee if she was uncomfortable in working in this heat. She replied that they are required to keep the front door open to let customers know it's open, so much of the cooled air escapes. It is crazy warm inside. Service is good. The one employee must stock, look out for customers and ring up sales. There is a half off table that I didn't observe in the past. Some of the drinks in the refrigerated section appear ready to burst. Overall, plus one star for labeling and price tags. I picked up a few sugar free and low calorie drinks to try here.

When we entered, one employee was wiping down the refrigerator doors while another was seated behind the counter. Unfortunately, we weren't greeted or acknowledged when we walked in. We browsed the store, which had a good selection of Filipino products, and I decided to purchase the onion and chive SkyFlakes crackers along with two banana lumpia. The male employee rang up the crackers and then spoke to the female employee in another language regarding the lumpia. I assumed everything was included in one transaction, but when I walked over to her, I realized I needed to pay separately. When she began putting both lumpia together in foil, I politely asked if they could be wrapped separately. Her reaction made me feel as though my request was an inconvenience. Overall, the transaction itself was fine, but the customer service could be more welcoming. A simple greeting and clearer communication would make a big difference. I also think that when discussing a customer's order, communicating in a language the customer understands would help avoid confusion and make the interaction feel more inclusive.
