Our first stop as soon as we landed and it definitely hit the spot! There was a current wait time notice of 40 mins when we got there but I'm glad we stayed because it was totally worth it. We ended up getting our food sooner (about 20 mins). Everything in the U.H. Special was tasty but I do think the macaroni salad could improve on the taste. My boyfriend liked it though, and everything else was so good so I'm still giving it 5 stars. The steak was very tender, the garlic chicken was tasty, and the ahi katsu was really good paired with the sauce. Food and portions are good, but the prices are drastically higher than other lunch plate spots. It was $22 per plate - they charge an additional $4 for ahi. The firecracker chicken and guava smoked pork were really good. I've had better Mac salad. The poke is good, but not worth the extra $4 charge. Food also took 40 min - 1 hour to be finished. Hands down our best meal in Oahu! The firecracker chicken was insaneeeee. The portion, flavors, everything was to die for. The sauce? Just wow. We placed our orders and there was a sign saying it would take about 20-30 minutes, and it took about that. It was well worth the wait. I will absolutely come back to Queen St. if I'm back in Oahu! read more

This place is popular af so be prepared to wait because there is always a long line! Also When coming here do not park across the street you have to park inside of that parking lot or you will get TOWED, I witnessed two cars being towed when I visited this place and they were customers for queens cafe ! Parking is free for 2 hrs so you don't need to pay unless you stay pass 2 hrs! Other than that the Poke was fresh! The firecracker chicken was pretty good too it tasted like a perfect Korean fried chicken with a little bit of spicy! It's mouth watering ! read more

Grabbed a late lunch after flying home today. Service was friendly even though they were short staffed! They had a limited menu today as per staffing, but had most of their main items available. Note that there was a sign saying cash or Venmo only. Wait time was about 20 min. We ordered the combo firecracker chicken and shoyu ahi poke, limu poke bowl, and garlic furikake chicken plate. I enjoyed the firecracker chicken. Admittedly not the best fried chicken I've had but the flavor was definitely unique. Not too spicy, and pulled more sweet from the sweet chili sauce. Chicken was still crispy even though it was topped with sauces. Shoyu poke was alright, not a lot of shoyu flavor. Limu poke was also good, I think I'd prefer that over the shoyu. Garlic furikake chicken (~$15) was alright. Some pieces were tough. I'd probably pick somewhere else if I'm in the mood for garlic chicken. All in all, food was decent for the price. Poke bowl was a little pricey (I think around $20). You could probably find cheaper and more variety of poke options elsewhere. However, there aren't too many plate lunch stops in the area so it's a good option if you want something that might hit the spot! read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Every time I drive past this place to go by the post office I smell the delicious aroma of BBQ and vow to pick up food one day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hubs went by the other day so we could finally try it out. Food came fairly quickly considering the warning that it may take 20-25 mins for orders to be completed. We got the teriyaki salmon and steak/firecracker chicken plates with mashed potatoes and tossed salad. I was in the area on Saturday and decided to come here for Lunch. I remember they had a really good steak plate. I ordered steak with limu poke, all salad w/oriental dressing. The woman who took my order was really friendly. The credit card machine was down that day so they were only taking cash or Venmo. The poke was so fresh and the steak was so good. The only thing that wasn't good was the dressing, I wouldn't recommend it. Probably just stick to the basics like ranch or 1000 island next time I come here. read more

We were really excited to try this place on our trip to Oahu because we saw social media posts about it. Out of the 6 days we were here on the island, this was the worst place we had for food. We ordered the firecracker chicken and steak combo with upgraded adobo rice for takeout. They forgot the steak and the chicken itself was so tough and stringy that some of it has the texture of beef jerky. Taste was okay. We were really disappointed especially because we were so excited and also drove out of the way for 40 minutes. It would have been a one star because it was honestly one of the worst dishes we've had in a few months at any restaurant (we ended up throwing half of it out because it was so tough to eat) but the customer service was nice when we ordered, so a two star. read more

The food was honestly really good and I enjoyed it a lot. But I had a very strange experience here. I asked for one extra plastic fork for my child, and they told me it would cost 25 cents. That already felt kind of crazy to me -- it's the first time I've ever seen a take-out place charge for a plastic fork. But then when I tried to pay for it, they said they only accept card payments over $10 minimum. So basically I couldn't even buy the fork for my child, and they also wouldn't just give me a simple plastic fork for free. The food was great, but this whole situation honestly felt ridiculous. read more

Prices are really fair and the workers are soo nice! Today I ordered the Kiawe steak with lup cheong fried rice. This place has good quality food. Good amount of steak and fried rice filled to whole half of the plate! Lots of meat in the fried rice and just to help customers out the shoyu seasoning is not aloha but I'm not sure if it's kikkoman or Yamasa. We haven't been here for years! We ordered the UH special plate and shared it because it was a lot of food! Everything was ONOLICIOUS, the ahi fish katsu with tartar sauce, luncheon meat was sliced thick, furikake garlic chicken was juicy and soft and the kiawe steak was cooked to perfection medium rare with kim chee fried rice. The wait was about 25-30 minutes as posted which we didn't mind. There were already a couple of customers waiting and then some after us. Family favorite!! We always order the steak plate with side salad and rice. The quality of the steak does vary with every visit. Sometimes it's cut thinly and tender enough, other times it's really chewy (borderline inedible), or in thick slices. There has been a time or two that it's tasted burnt... the flavor overall is nice and smoky. Really nice people, and great service. They're really popular so wait times could get high. Gotta call in, I usually do about 25-40 min before pick up. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures because every time my family or I orders steak plates, it's devoured IMMEDIATELY. It's kinda weird that I think very highly of this place and keep returning even though the quality is very inconsistent. But I guess it goes to show how good it is when it's at its best? Must ask for steak sauce too!! (Sometimes they forget even when I ask but just double check when picking up) read more

Love the kimchee fried rice, the dynamite fried chicken and the garlic shrimp. The wait time could be shorter but the food is delicious and worth the wait. The long wait time is a downside I'm rating this restaurant 4 to 5 stars based off of the food. Unable to choose the stars at this time. Queen street is definitely delicious and well worth the wait time. Consider this place is very popular before you order. Expect maybe an hour or so wait time before you get the food in hand. read more

Our new favorite plate lunch on the island! The line and the wait can get pretty long (we probably waited 30-40 minutes on a weekday during lunch time), but it's worth it! You place your order at the door and they'll give you a pager so you can wait in the area. It's located in a small shopping mall with a parking lot. Portions are big, so my husband and I shared a plate lunch with two proteins- the grilled steak and the firecracker chicken. We also upgraded the rice to fried rice (definitely do that!). It was so delicious! The steak was cooked medium rare, and I liked that there were no bones so it was easy to eat on the go. The firecracker chicken was also great. Even though it's covered in sauce, the chicken was still crispy and juicy. Queens Street Cafe is going to be a must-have for us on trips moving forward! read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]While they no longer offer indoor seating since COVID, there are a few outdoor tables available if you want to eat there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I usually call ahead because there's often a wait--usually around 20 to 30 minutes--but it's totally worth it. Queen Street Café & Grill opened on 8/29/11 on Queen Street in Kakaako by Gwen Alejo-Herring, who had previously owned the now closed Queen Bee Bar & Grill, also on Queen Street in Kakaako. She subsequently moved the restaurant to the Aiea Town Center in Aiea to be closer to home, despite keeping the same restaurant name. The new eatery specialized in high quality, local comfort food made fresh to order, as owner Gwen continued her mother's passion for cooking for family. The popular restaurant's trademark was staff grilling its steaks and chicken just outside of the restaurant, using a grill with kiawe wood that evokes a heavenly smoky aroma that draws in customers. Menu offerings include: kiawe grilled steak; chicken (furikake garlic, firecracker, katsu, Korean, karaage, Kiawe grilled); pork chops (teri, spicy, fried with mushrooms/onions, guava smoked with onions); seafood (shrimp, ahi, salmon, fried calamari, poke); tofu salad; fried rice (regular, pork adobo, kim chee, garlic, lup chong). There are combo specials, with the popular UH Sports Special of 3 items of Kiawe grilled steak garlic chicken, and ahi katsu with furikake rice, luncheon meat, tartar sauce, and wasabi aioli. You can also mix and match according to what you want. All plates come with a choice of 2 scoops white rice, garlic mashed potatoes, or brown rice (75¢ more); and a choice of mac, pasta, or tossed salad. As your menu items are cooked to order to ensure best quality and freshness, staff will politely inform you of the waiting time for your order, which can be about an hour during the busy lunch hour. I've called in to pre-order and pay by credit card over the phone and can easily pick it up without having to stand in line. In continuing with Covid restrictions, Queen St. Café still does not offer dine-in and is strictly take-out only. Social distancing is enforced, as only one person is allowed inside the restaurant to order and pay; customers waiting for their orders must wait outside with a couple of benches that can be used. Don't forget the 20% discount for military that are in uniform and are required to be present for pick-up orders. Hours of operation are Mon to Sat 10:30a to 4:00p, Sun closed. Hours may be reduced or they may close due to private catering events, family emergencies, or a shortage of qualified staff working that day. Free parking is available in the private lot of the shopping complex. Had this place saved for the longest time and I finally got to try their plate lunches, so worth the wait! 'UH Sports Special': combination plate with steak, garlic fried chicken, luncheon meat, and salmon katsu (ahi katsu +$2) my favorite meats were the steak and surprisingly the luncheon meat too! the steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked well done, but wasn't chewy at all! the luncheon meat was like ham but not super salty, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did! 'Firecracker Chicken Plate: the batter was nice and crispy, crunchy, with a slightly sweet sauce and spicy mayo on top. the inside was juicy and overall, it was very flavorful! Each plate comes with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. I really liked the mac salad, it wasn't too heavy in the mayo taste, but my only complaint was the rice was a bit on the mushy side... Always great to support local businesses and families ! We've been coming to Queen street cafe when they were actually still on Queen street in Honolulu. It's nice that the family still kept the name. Owner, Aunty Gwen is so awesome ! Her staff as well are a reflection of her. Always welcoming with a smile. Food is always Ono ! And although things changed a lot in their dining area, the atmosphere is still the same. Support local and eat local ! read more

We use to be located in town but decided to move closer to home. We've owned Club Queen Bee and Queen st cafe (in town). We are a family business and that strives us to be the best we can be. Everything at our restaurant is cook to order to ensure the best quality of food. Therefore wait times may vary.

We ordered a large so it was basically 1-lb and filled us up. It's a lot and at times can taste rich and bold so be sure to have a drink on hand. We also tried their braised beef with rice and Mac salad. The beef was tender and tasted similar to this Filipino dish (can't remember then name). It was good and definitely worth trying. Hands down, we'd definitely come back again for their poke nachos. It's the perfect start to the trip when landing at the airport because it's about 10 mins away!

New to Yelp but I had to make a review about this place!! Been going to this place since they first opened in Town about 10 years ago! I'm so glad I found them again.. a small hole in the wall place in Aiea town square. You can see them grilling outside under a tent/umbrella The food is flavorful, the portions are generous and the price is reasonable. The kiawe grilled steak is soft and cut thin, so super easy to eat. The firecracker chicken is the BOMB! There's a ton of flavors that go in your mouth. Sweet and spicy but not to over powering. They drizzle a sweet chili and spicy Mayo on top (like in the picture) so it can get messy but hey it's totally worth it. If you aren't the "messy" type, they can even put the sauce on the side! All you have to do is ask them. They told me they get fish fresh EVERY MORNING and it's true! I ordered a poke bowl and the fish was soft and a nice color. They have spicy ahi, Limu, and Salmon Poke. Best part about the food. You can combo any 2 items on the menu!!! Right now since Covid they only do takeout and they only let one party in at a time to order. I respect that. Safety for everyone first right ? They have hand sanitizers around outside and when you walk in. They even have a system where they sanitize the pen after every use. They have a plexi glass that separates the customers from the workers. Precautions are on point. As they only have one door and one register, whether you have a phone order or not. We have to wait in the same line but it's okay! If you wanna by pass the line, they even take payment over the phone and you just call the restaurant to let them know that you are here and they will meet you at the door. Definitely saves time trust me. I suggest phone ordering as they do get busy. Sometimes the wait can go up to an hour and a half but that's how you know the food good! Even the workers there are so patient with me on the phone, as sometimes I can't decide on what to get or I have questions about the item. I ordered extra large trays of meatballs, chowfun and chicken katsu for birthday yesterday. When I got home to unload food out of box they gave me, I found box with spilt tomato sauce in it, the food trays has tomato sauce all over it! The meatballs were so spicy loaded with green onions that I could not serve to the children, the chicken katsu was really not katsu it was fried chicken, very dry, burnt and portion size was way less than what I ordered! I had no choice but to continue on and serve food because I was already running late for my party! They tried giving me four containers that were so sticky with some sauce in, but I gave it back -- I had nothing to hold up 4 containers in my car, so I had to give it back to the workers plus it containers were so sticky on outside! I spent over $230 something on these trays of food. I felt like I was just another customer to whom they did not put any care in the taste of the food, the packaging and presentation. I should have just ordered from Soon's BBQ in Salt Lake like I originally planned! Next time I know better, I will put my monies worth even if I have to spend over thousand on food I'll go buy from somewhere else! What a waste of money! Best restaurant still! Firecrackers chicken is the bomb! The restaurant can get busy so it was nice they us before we ordered just in case if we couldn't wait... BUT WE DID ANYWAYS! The fire cracker chicken with the spicy ahi is the greatest combo ever! Today (2/26/19) they had a sign up that the fryer was down so the wait Time was longer but it's worth the wait. I finally had a chance to come to their Aiea restaurant. The food was GREAT. I had the steak w/ shrimp tempura and the UH Special. Everything was so DELISH!!! Steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The tempura was 4 good sized shrimps. The UH Special had ahi katsu which went great w/ the wasabi aioli. I love their UH sports special plate lunch. I usually come here once every 3 or 4 months. If it weren't for their 30 to 45 mins wait time, I would probably come here more often. I once did a phone order right at opening and they told me that the wait time is about one hour. Hopefully they decrease their wait time. read more
