Inamona poke and wasabi poke. Wasabi was little subtle from me, wish was stronger. Fish is fresh. I heard from my coworker their spicy poke is really spicy. Kimchi crab dip was SO GOOD! It definitely was very spicy. Has a punch. Paired with the wonton chip is perfection! For you who can't handle the spice, might want to stay away. They also offer variety of plate lunches. There was also this ube cheesecake we were eyeing out. LOL! But we had dessert in the office. The are located in Pearl Kai. We had a large take out order and they were fast and so kind. Came in due to yelp reviews for poke bowls! We weren't disappointed! Their selection was excellent and they had different plate lunches too! They have a choice of rice - got the very garlic rice - which was good - and furikaki salmon poke The tako poke was very good too The katsu pork sandwich was good too but the fries was awesome! Kalua pig Nachos was good but a bit on the sweet side- the one ton chip part of it was good stayed crunchy We loved their kim Chee Lots of parking as it's located in a strip mall. SOLID! My wife asked me if I wanted anything from Monarch Poke. I looked it up and thought .... wow I never had Miso braised pork belly. Might as well try! The food suffered a little from take out as you can see, but the taste was good. The miso flavor was really mild and the sauce was very runny. The salad was good and they gave a tasty dressing. The rice was good quality and the pork belly was delicious. This is a solid plate of food. Glad this place is around. Another good choice when I am hungry! read more

Poke on Christmas Eve... That's the dream we can only hope for and luckily Monarch Poke located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center near T-Mobile area was open and not only that had a display case filled with various fresh fish all straight from the auction. This was quite late in the afternoon as I was set up for disappointment I was pleasantly surprised to see how much they still had and the gentleman says that that he thought it would've been busier but know that he had a catering order and is sure than none will go to waste is great to know but with that I did grab a couple of items that already piqued my interest, and entering this cozy shop was nice and simple. With seasonings like Crispy Garlic Chili Oil, Spicy, and Salmon poke I went for Inamona (Kukui nut) Poke, and Yuzu Scallop Poke as Scallops which are cute baby scallops is for mom since she loves scallops, and I love the simplicity flavor of the inamona with sesame oil, lime and Hawaiian salt though personally I didn't like it was rolling in green onions and white onions as I'm not a huge fan of them. The down side what I didn't like is the "MP" which I completely understand it's market fresh and is impossible to price it permanently but wished they'd put a daily price beside them the half pound of Yuzu Scallops Poke and one pound of inamona poke total did made me question my impulsive decision don't get me wrong it was delicious but there was too much onion in mine (personal choice) but the gentleman there was very nice describe each item including getting wasabi from Japan as it's all crafted fresh shows the love in each dish as I thoroughly enjoyed it for Christmas. Bad: - They have a credit card fee of 3%. - Staff at the cashier needed more time for training because she made some minor mistakes. First time here and I was amazed by all the options of poke! Even just by looking, they all look tasty and fresh. I only tried the spicy ahi though but will come back eventually to try the rest. The spicy ahi was one of the spicier ones. Got it with garlic soaked rice which was a good combo with ahi. The staff were friendly and helpful with explaining the menu items. Tried this place for the first time last week based on other good reviews, and honestly was very impressed! Located conveniently in Pearl Kai shopping center with a large parking lot. Can get busy at times though. They have about 5 tables inside with seating. EDIT: I went on a Friday (April 4th), around noon and most tables were open as people did takeout but I can imagine it gets busy during weekday lunch hours. The girl working at the front was super helpful and explained the menu, and also offered samples of each poke (except pipkaula). Ended up getting the garlic chicken plate with mac salad, and a quarter lb of the spicy ahi poke. I did take out and had to run an errand before I got home to eat it, but even after 20 minutes or so it was still good! Not as crispy as it probably was fresh off the stove but seasoned well and pieces were just perfectly breaded. The dirty rice was a good side option. Just the lightest touch of garlic and not too overpowering. Similar to another breakfast spot also in Aiea... Side spicy ahi was also good, a bit spicier than other poke places but flavored well. Fish was chunky and tasted fresh. Will definitely be back to try the other poke bowls and plates! Also want to try the crab dip and the namasu! read more

After visited Pearl Harbor, we came here for a super late lunch/ early dinner. The cashier is very friendly and helpful and made suggestions for us. Monarch poke is a locally owned poke shop located at the Pearl Kai Shopping Center. My friend and I have been wanting to check this place out, but the last time we came, they were closed for cleaning/renovations. Parking available at the strip mall and bathroom located within their establishment behind their kitchen Service & Ambience: The owner worked the register the day we went and was super sweet. We told her it was our first time there, and she offered to give us samples of the poke before ordering. We sampled the inamona as it's their specialty. She also told us that all their pokes are made fresh daily from auction block tuna. It is not the largest place, ~5 tables (4-6 seats each) decorated with beautiful murals. We did feel a bit rushed to finish as it got busy and a lot of the other guests also wanted to sit down. T Price: $$. Poke bowls and poke by weight are charged at market price for the day. On the day we went, it was ~$18-19 for a half pound, which is pretty standard pricing for fresh poke lately (getting more expensive lately) Food: My friend opted for Poke Nachos with 1/2 pound inamona, and I opted for a quarter pound of crispy garlic chili oil and a quarter pound of inamona The Inamona is made with green onions, onions, limu, and light sauce that doesn't overpower the taste of the fresh ahi. Poke bowls were really good, fish was fresh and you can even choose garlic fried or plain rice - fried rice had a little too much of a peppery flavor for me. Garlic chicken was tasty, not too much breading and good flavor; went well with the cabbage and sauce it was sitting in. First bite after landing in Honolulu! Upon entering we were helped. The menu was explained and we got to try some of their poke! They get their fish fresh from the auction. Ordered the half portion of poke nachos with the Wasabi ahi poke (they use an oil so it's a very pleasant and mild Wasabi flavor.) I liked this because the nachos had heavy sauces (eel and spicy mayo). The lighter poke was able to shine through without overwhelming me with too much flavors. Such a good place to go at Pearl Kai. There was a night market tonight and I wasn't feeling any of the options so of course, tried and true Monarch Poke it is! I ordered the spicy ahi poke nachos (half) and a cali poke bowl with dirty rice. 10/10. The spicy ahi nachos is my favorite; packed with flavor and it was sweet and spicy at the same time. - Genuine Review from a Customer Who has Gone to this Poke Shop Since it Opened - Monarch Poke used to be one of my top poke spots on island. I even recommended it to my family when they visited and always felt like they produced fresh & quality poke. However, today was just different. When I walked in, it was busy & I was like, good for them, they deserve it. I was excited to get poke because I was hungry and having a not so very good day. I also decided to treat myself to one of my go to spots. As I looked at the selection of poke, something just seemed off. I'm no poke expert or can inform someone that the fish looks fresh, but when I looked at the ahi it just did not look the same. I ignored that fact and just ordered anyways, ignoring my gut feeling. Spent $30 on a large spicy ahi poke bowl and a slice of ube cheesecake. In my mind I was thinking this is going to be going to be so good! Upon taking the first bite, I was like eh... this doesn't taste the same, the fish did not really taste fresh and had a weird texture and the sauce was not how it usually was (I do not know how to describe it). I kept eating it though because it was $30...I spat out like two pieces because the texture did not sit right with me and it did not taste good I ended up not finishing all of it. The ube cheesecake was alright and I feel bad saying that... but eating the poke bowl kind of just ruined my taste buds, experience, and stomach. I wish I could get my $30 back, but I also wish that I did not have a terrible experience. I do not wish bad reviews upon local restaurants, BUT if you are going to charge so much make sure you deliver and ensure all your food is quality (I.e, fresh and tasty). Monarch Poke never disappoints. They are consistently delicious! We can't eat there and not get the poke nachos but we get a half which is enough for 2. Poke is fresh and I love the tomatoes that come with it for that nice pop of freshness. They are also generous with the avacado. We tried the garlic chicken today too and paid $1 to upgrade to dirty rice. The rice is so nice and garlicky. The chicken was really good. It seems to be lightly fried which I really appreciate because when you finish it you don't feel super heavy. Definitely our go to for nachos. read more

Truly could not recommend this place more highly. The service is always top notch- they are SO friendly and happy to explain your options and let you try any of the poke flavors, even encouraging you to do so. We have been twice and tried several different things, and we are eager to go back to try even more. They have a wide variety of poke to choose from. There's also plate lunches and nachos which looked really good. Gotta try it next time we go. The salmon poke was excellent. The toppings that come with the poke bowl were a nice complement to the bowl. The spicy ahi I thought was a bit spicier than other places. I didn't mind it but my wife noticed. We ordered the half order of Poke Nachos with Spicy Ahi, and the half order was huge! Generous portion of the spicy ahi, lots of green onions, white onions, diced tomatoes and avocado. The chips are won ton chips and they stayed crunchy even with all the toppings! It was ONO! Also ordered the Bulgogi Beef Bao Buns with a tossed green salad with Papaya Seed dressing. okay wow. Y'all need to run fast to this place. If you don't like Poke, that's fine, their KATSU and garlic butter shrimp are to die for. That garlic butter shrimp was the best I ever had and I could've eaten it for every meal my entire trip. I also loved the poke. We got to sample them as well and shoyu was my favorite but the California was a close second. Sadly, it was too spicy for me but if I could handle spice, I would've gotten California poke! We also got the poke nachos and there was so much poke and sauce and toppings and all were well portioned throughout the plate. Also, I wasn't expecting this but their fries were delicious! This was the first poke spot I tried on my visit here, and I thought they were really good. The server was really nice, and asked how my spice tolerance was and what my fish preferences were before giving me recommendations. I went with the shoyu ahi poke nachos and enjoyed them. Monarch Poke has been on my list for some time. In the busy Pearl Ridge center this is definitely one of the gems that is worth checking out if you're looking for Poke. Inside is simple but cute and the staff is very friendly which is always a plus. The garlic shrimp was delicious, but my only critique was that it was a bit too salty. My friend got the Sunny's Shrimp (not pictured) which was a better balanced flavor profile in my opinion. The Ube cheesecake is definitely not too sweet. If you are concerned about that. This place is my favorite poke on island. For starters the staff we encountered was super friendly and very helpful. They really enjoy getting to know you, discussing options they think you'd like, and working with you to ensure you have a great food experience. Their poke is sooo good. It's seasoned well, perfect ratio between fish and sauce. The fish itself was super soft, buttery and just delicious. Prices are very fair here, especially in comparison to other places. The place itself was super clean, we loved all the art on the walls. Some of the art you can even buy which I thought was really cool! This was my favorite poke restaurant that I tried on my vacation to Hawaii! It's pretty close to Pearl Harbor so if you're visiting there, definitely make a small detour to give this place a try. All the poke was extremely fresh and there was a wide variety of flavors that were all delicious. What I really liked about this place was the poke bowls with dirty rice (garlic fried rice). The smoky garlicky warm rice complemented the cold fresh poke very well and was so much better than plain rice. A lot of the poke here also had some element of fat which I enjoy since ahi tuna is lean. The portion sizes here are quite big. The bowls are really filling and the prices aren't as high as some other more touristy places. The service is also super nice. I would definitely come back if I visit Hawaii again! read more
