    Chili Cheese Fries $9.49
    Jill F.

@fortunefoodfinds: "Hope y'all are have-INN a great Memorial Day weekend! A Chicken Katsu x Kalbi Plate Lunch Combo served w/ 2 scoops of rice, mac salad, tossed salad, n' fried noodles + a Cheeseburger n' Chili Cheese Fries from Leeward DRIVE-INN in Waipahu. When it comes to celebrating a holiday, eating good is the one thing I know how to do!" SERVICE: friendly n' fully staffed INTERIOR: n/a, takeout only EXTERIOR: on the corner of Pūpūkahi n' Pupupani, limited picnic style table seating (4) WAIT TIME: 5 mins before placing order, then received food after 15 mins PARKING: free lot OVERALL COMMENTS: plate lunch combo was huge, more than enough to feed two. Chicken katsu was crispy n' came with katsu sauce. Kalbi was so tender n' very well marinated, delicious. Loved that it came with a lot sides, they are known for their fried noodles. Cheeseburger was simple but was moist n' flavorful; it's nice when you come across a good mom n' pop burger. Chili cheese fries was also a huge portion n' they did not skip out on the chili. The soggy fries worked really well with it, inhaled it all. The best part was that my kids enjoyed everything just as much as me n' da hubz did. We even had leftovers to take home. Comfort food that is worth coming back to again n' again!

I'd been meaning to try Leeward Drive Inn for ages, but every time I was in the area I had other plans. On this day, it was after 2:00 pm and I was super hungry! I was pleased that there wasn't much of a line, and ordered the Leeward Special--it was HUGE and I had enough food for several meals. I loved the giant portion of what I think are hand cut fries, and the pork sandwich was tasty. I'm only removing one star because despite there not being too many people waiting, my food took around 45 minutes, and I had ordered at the walk up window, not eat-in side. Had I expected that long of a wait, I would have gone elsewhere, since I was on a work lunch break. There's a parking lot, but things get a little crazy in that lot, so if you go, pack your patience, and don't plan to be in & out quickly. Other than that, the lady at the window was very nice. I'd go back when I have more time.

This lace is a popular local plate lunch spots on the island. They are located in the Waipahu are but still able to sell plate lunches at a clip of $20+, haha. No matter when I come here, there is a consistent flow of customers and during peak hours tons of people waiting for food. Their plate lunches are massive and comes with a ton of food ~ main dish, rice under it, Mac/potato salad, cabbage salad, and their famous fried noodles. Their Teri beef is one of my favorites on the island. The Teri beef always has so much flavor and nice and juicy. Their fried noodles is what draws crowds. A bed of fried noodles slightly flavored and topped a generous amount of char siu, fish cake, and green onions. You can get the special fried noodles that adds bean sprouts for bit more. It's a take out window only with a few large shared tables outside. Don't expect fancy when you come here, as there can sometimes be questionable customers or peeps hanging outside.

Expect to be waiting 45 minutes or so. I was first in line and ordered a bbq plate and ramen. Ordered around 1:15pm and it's almost 2pm.. almost everyone who ordered behind me got their plates already. Not sure why I keep getting bad luck when I come here ‍

Came again and it's still so good! This time we got fried chicken and garlic chicken plate. Yummmm, the garlic chicken is so yummy! Sweet sour Korean chicken type beat. Very good. Not dry Aunty gave me gravy for fried chicken and it's so yum :) Comfort food for a happy tummy

Ono plate lunches that are big enough to share. Popular & busy spot in Waipahu... expect a wait (even if you call-in the order). Plate lunches come with rice, mac salad & fried noodles. So good!

My coworker called in a Door Dash order to Leeward Drive Inn today. I had my favorite Mochiko Chicken plate that comes with Fried Noodles, Rice topped with Furikake, and Potato Mac Salad. My coworker had the Leeward Special. Everything was delicious and definitely hit the spot. Great to take a break from the hustle and bustle of work and get some great food and enjoy a moment of fellowship.

OMG! Now this is how plate lunch is supposed to be! Overflowing with food, but all of it good (except maybe the fries which were pretty greasy - yummy but greasy). I've been looking for exactly THIS when coming to Oahu and it's so weird to find it in such an out of the way place. I loved it all but I had to go back twice for the mochiko chicken. And if you want to try something fun? You have to try the soft serve ice cream in the corn J shaped thing. It's actually really good. Kind of like cereal with ice cream. FOOD: Like I said the mochiko chicken was amazing. But everything that came with it was, too. The noodles were perfect! The mac salad was what a mac salad should be (I bought extra it was so good). Just everything was what I had hoped for. Now my new fav place for plate lunch. We got the box lunch also and that was great and the meat was all flavorful. SERVICE: Took a while, but who cares? With food this good it was worth it. We didn't even go during peak lunch times, but they seem to make everything to order so it's okay if it takes a bit. COST: Well worth it for the quantity of food you get. So much food!

Love their fried noodles and garlic chicken!!!! Usually a go to for order noodles to bring to a party or event function

Mediocre food. I ordered the lunch box and the ultimate mix plate. All the rave for the big fried chicken? Also the fried noodles. I don't know what was special about it. It tastes okay to me but not memorable. I think I was just turned off on the long wait time of 30 minutes, but again it was lunch time. I'll go again and try something new. Overall it was eh okay. The food have already been prepared and I know it was not freshly done, but why it took so long just to put it together. I believe 3 stars for the fast overall. Mood: not as satisfied as I would want to be Again? Yes, try different plates that are more popular

I waited an hour and a half for my food, and it was honestly a huge disappointment from start to finish. When I finally got my order, the quality was terrible. The sausage was completely burned and tasted like it had been sitting out way too long, super dry and barely edible. The rice was hard as a rock, like it was cooked too long and left in the rice pot or had been left out sitting for hours. To make it worse, my eggs had random bits of other food mixed in, which made it seem like the pan wasn't even cleaned before cooking my order. That's just unacceptable and honestly concerning from a hygiene standpoint. Portion size didn't match the price at all, and after waiting that long, you'd expect at least decent food. Instead, it felt rushed, careless, and poorly prepared. Overall, a frustrating experience poor food quality, and questionable cleanliness. Definitely not worth the time or money.

I can absolutely see why this spot is voted one of the best in Hawaii! We were craving something tasty but not too heavy, and this place caught our eye with its huge variety. At first glance, the outside doesn't look like much, but those are usually the hidden gems--and this was definitely one of them. We decided to share a BBQ plate so we wouldn't get too full. Normally, Hawaiian BBQ plates come with meat, rice, and mac salad--maybe a scoop or two of rice at most. But THIS place does not mess around. Not only did the plate include the classics, but it also came with noodles, plus a full bed of rice hiding under the meat. We chose chicken katsu and BBQ chicken, and both were incredible. The BBQ chicken was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly, while the katsu had that crispy golden coating but stayed juicy inside. The noodles? I don't know what magic they put in them, but they were absolutely delicious. The mac salad was decent--though I've had better--but honestly, with everything else tasting so good, it didn't even matter. The portions were huge, the flavors were amazing, and this place left me impressed. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Hawaii to try more menu items!

My other half said this was the best spicy pork he has ever had. It's incredibly flavorful and a must-try. I ordered Kalbi on our second visit to satisfy a craving. It was super yummy with just the perfect amount of char. We also absolutely loved the meat jun and fish jun, those will definitely be our go-to orders from now on! I immediately took my husband's phone up to the counter and showed them my account, verifying that the payments were withdrawn. There was also another customer standing at the counter with the same issue. The cashier was really nice about the whole situation and immediate issued a refund to both myself and the other customer. I ordered the Bi Bim Kook Soo and my husband ordered the Kalbi and BBQ chicken combo plate. The Bi Bim Kook Soo was huge and I couldn't even eat half of it. The BBQ beef was a little tough and not as flavorful as the vegetables. The noodles, sauce and vegetables mixed together were really delicious though. It had a nice sesame flavor to it. We can deal with it being kinda in the ghetto of Waipahu but it was the very unhappy (clearly annoyed) counterperson who was taking our order - who SNAPPED AT MY MOM because she was confused with what comes with their plate lunch AND then the cook (assumedly - a different person than who took our order) annoyingly brought our items out to the table. She ordered the chop steak - I thought tasted ok, but it was seasoned heavier than my mom would like. Portion was right for the price. I got their signature Loco Moco burrito - SAD. It was $20, majority rice and mac salad, no meat. I needed a knife to cut the burrito in half, there was no counterperson or anyone available to ask for a knife, so I kind of looked around their register area and found a random one on the side, cut the burrito in half, DEFINITELY NOT how they showed it on TV, if the counterperson came back, I probably would have asked for them to swap it out. We were sitting for about 25 mins - nobody came back to the counter? If it wasn't for the counterpersons unfriendly attitude I was planning to buy their signature dessert to go, but I was turned off by the whole experience AND he didn't come back out anyways until literally I was throwing our containers away. He didn't greet us. Thank us. Ask how everything was. Or say anything when we were leaving. We were spoiled to the max! The owners and their family run the place and in true Filipino hospitality, they served us buffet/family style and entertained us with their stories from their humble beginnings to what they are today. The food was the best I've had in the Island. Hands down. Everything tasted nostalgic because the technique used in cooking each dish tasted like a handed down recipe from a grandma's kitchen from back home in the motherland. If you're ever in the island of Oahu please make your way to Waipahu and sample as much of their offerings as you can and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed! 10/10 recommended coming from a humble cook who rarely raves about Filipino food because I myself learned from my paternal grandmother.

They're located on the corner and once you see a tent & smell bbq, you're at the right spot. This restaurant gave karinderia vibe to it! Karinderia is basically like those food stalls they have in the Philippines, where they have a bunch of dishes and you sit out to enjoy the food. Home cooked & affordable eats. They have everything from bbq sticks, adobo, lechon, kilawan, lumpia and more. I got the bbq stick & chicken inasal plate. The bbq stick was packed with so much flavor! The chicken inasal was more on the huli huli side & was served with Filipino dipping sauce. They also offer free sabaw with your meal. Ordering was a little complicating, they have a menu outside with food and also more food inside. The bbq items were cooked by order and the inside food had more of the Filipino dishes like (adobo). But next to the cashier, you could also find other fried dishes as well. So a little complicated. You also have the option to sit outside under the tent or inside the restaurant with AC. For this type of place, if you're dining in, you order & eat first then pay. Like any karindera. Overall, this place was VERY good & SUPER AFFORDABLE. If you want to experience a true Filipino experience with great food, this place is for you.

The catfish was seasoned perfectly, not a lot of batter either. The baked beans were so good. My mama can cook some baked beans but these were fire. Shhhh don't tell my mama. My husband had the turkey leg. He said it was flavored good. And he loved it. Only thing he said negative was it was a little cold in the middle. Not freezing cold, but definitely wasn't hot like it came out of the grill. We had to wait 15 minutes for it to be done so the outside was hot but not the middle next to the bone. We aren't ones to complain so we let it ride. I also want to know if the collard greens were home cooked or canned. I cook collard greens all the time so I just wasn't sure if these were fresh. They were still good though. I'll definitely be visiting Donnie's again for that bomb catfish. Thank you.

Before the lunch crowd, I ordered the jerk chicken,, bbq beans, and potato salad. Everything was on point! The chicken was tender and tasty, which came served over rice. The bbq beans were good. I really enjoyed their potato salad too :) From the line of folks waiting, I'm guessing everyone enjoyed their meal too. Grateful that they brought the mobile smoker to today's event. I really enjoyed their food.
