This place has been on our "Next Must Try Places on Oahu" list for quite some time, and my hubby and I finally had the chance to visit today and we're so glad we did! It is located by the Waipahu Festival Marketplace and parking can be a bit of a challenge, but the food here is excellent! We ordered the Kanak Attack plate. It came with pork belly, smoked brisket, kalbi, and a side salad. The brisket was da bomb! It is so tender, with the perfect smoky flavor and char, and the beef fat melts in your mouth. It's also great with chillipeppahwatah! The fat and juices of the meat soaked into the rice and made it savory and delicious. Just ono! The kalbi and pork belly were also flavorful and delicious. I really had a kanak attack after eating my food. Zzzz We also tried the Heart Attack Loco Moco. It has brisket and pork belly with gravy, topped with eggs. The gravy was good and it worked perfectly with the meats. The portions were generous, and the prices were fair for the quality and amount of food. The service was fast and friendly! They also gave us some halloween treats: pretzel snacks and candies. Hehe There is a small outdoor dining area but it can get quite hot, so I recommend ordering for takeout or finding a cooler spot to enjoy your meal. A fellow diner told us the brisket sells out fast. You can place an order ahead of time and schedule a pickup. That's exactly what we did, and we're so pleased with our experience. We'll definitely be back!

Found it!

Lunch in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii... I was really hungry and had had a rough morning. I decided to treat myself to a good meal and found Da Ultimate Grindz Hawaii on my Yelp app. It's funny that I have passed by this establishment maybe hundreds of times, but I never noticed it. The blue sign is on the small side. Located by the Waipahu Festival Marketplace, I drove around the block and found a side street that led to the back of the next door building. You could park at Waipahu Festival Marketplace and walk across the parking lot, but that's "far". There's a smaller parking lot that's attached by a driveway - that's where I parked. Service was very friendly and sweet! The young lady at the window had a wonderful smile and positive vibe! She told me that my order would take about 5 minutes! Yay! I noticed the outdoor, covered seating area, but it was a warm August afternoon... too hot for me. I took my Kanak Attack meal home to enjoy in air conditioning. However, the delicious fragrance was too much! I had to open the container and start eating while driving! Wow! The famous Brisket was EXCELLENT! The tender, smokey chunks of meat melted in my mouth! The pork belly was also soft and had a sweeter marinade... BOMB! At home, I grabbed the kalbi and devoured it! I also gobbled down the fresh green salad! This is food that makes your rice taste ONO! You know? The flavor is so good that you must have rice with it to enhance the dining experience! Yeah! I normally try not to eat rice, but this time, I HAD to! After this meal, I really did have Kanak Attack! I needed a nap... Zzzzz! I'll be back!

For sure top 5 best tasting pork belly. Ahi katsu was different than usual but it did taste delicious. Service was amazing and staff are willing to help you narrow down your choices if stuck on what to get. They do have an outside seating with a nice comfy atmosphere so feel free to sit and eat if you want to. All in all great tasting plate lunches I really feel there is no wrong thing to get here. So if in the area look no further Da Ultimate Grindz I'm most certain they'll leave you coming back for more.

Brisket French Dip w/ side of oil

Hard to find bit and looks promising, but I wasn't happy with my first meal. I ordered the brisket French dip and I say when laid my eyes upon it iit looked so ono. Then the first bite. Dipped into the sauce and my mouth was greeted with a oily mess. The next few bites where no better. Fast forward to the next day. I pulled the leftovers ouout of the fridge and I find the French dip is a solid mass of fat/oil. What a shame to have crafted a potentially fantastic meal and to shit on it by serving with a side of warm oil. I do have to say the crinkle cut fries were very good and cooked nice and crispy

12-28-23 ended up here when we couldn't find parking at Highway Inn. Looked quickly on Yelp and it was 1 minute away and had at least 4 stars. At first sight it reminded me of eateries in a third world country. Two in our group went down to order our take out. One told me there were flies and a zapper in the kitchen. Wonder how it got a green pass. I texted let's leave but the order was already put in. Sad experience tsk tsk they didn't hear one of our orders so one person had no lunch. We came home with only one steak and mushroom with Mac salad. Verdict: just okay. The garlic chicken order was tender, no crunch to the coating. It tasted a little sweet and not garlicky at all. The place may be a neighborhood favorite but my eyebrows were raised. I personally would not come back.

Kanak attack Plate & Cheeseburger and fries

I was blown away, I got the kanak attack and this plate honestly made me want to cry. The meat was so tender and melts in your mouth. The smoked meat just overtakes the smell of the entire room, absolutely amazing! The wait time was about 10-12 min, which is incredible considering the quality and flavor. You can tell the folks at this establishment really take pride in their work, awesome jobs!! Next time I come by I will be sure to leave you guys a well deserved tip

Husband ordered the Kanak Attack, he is literally swaying and dancing of how happy he is. He had the NY steak last time and wanted to go back and try the kanak attack. Very tasty and delicious, he is still currently swaying to the music and eating. I've never seen him enjoy a plate like this lol.

Great small hole in the wall spot for..DA ULTIMATE GRINDZ! I always get their ahi katsu roll. Must try it you visit here. Trust. They also have friendly staff that'll answer your questions about the menu and whatnot. Support local! Check em out!

Oxtail Stew Special and they were nice enough to let me order a Side Order Fried Chicken
Ramfis B.

Always in sesrch of Oxtail Stew because not too many places have it on Special and while scrolling through Instagram Da Ultimate Grindz Hawaii in Waipahu had an Oxtail Stew Special and I had to make that drive to Waipahu to give it a try. And I will say this, this Oxtail Stew here is pretty damn good. There were Three Nice Sized Oxtails that literally fell off the Bone and I love a Stew that is Savory and not Sweet and the flavor here was on point. What I love about this Oxtail Stew is that I found a piece of Star Anise in the plate which gave this Stew a very nice and subtle aromatic smell. It came with Two Scoops of Fried Rice not sure if I asked for it and it also came with some Spaghetti Mac Salad. This Oxtail Stew is just as good as Ray's Cafe in Kalihi because the style is almost the same and I left here very impressed. They even let me order a Side Order of Fried Chicken which is not on the Menu because i always like to try other things as well. This place right here is a Hidden Gem and don't know why they aren't as busy as they should be. They are located in the Waipahu Festival Marketplace on Waipahu Depot Road where Hashi Okazuya and Rocky's Coffee Shop is located. Check them out on their Instagram Account @daultimategrindz and see what their Specials are each day. They have a very creative Menu and the Specials have always intrigued me but after eating their Oxtail Stew I am a believer that this place is definitely ACTION!!! And for the $20 price worth every cent.

Ordered food twice from this place now for lunch for me and my coworkers. First time we ordered the heart attack, kanak attack, brisket plate and the special which was steak and salmon. Also got a side of fries and Mac salad. My coworkers enjoyed all their food and it was good but they stacked all the plates in one bag so it started to fall over. The fries were soggy so didn't really enjoy that. Today we ordered again, I got the garlic shrimp, they got kanak attack again and the pork belly with lumpia special and brisket plate. The other 2 enjoyed their plates cause they like pork belly and fat lol. But my coworker who got the brisket did not enjoy his plate at all because it was mostly fat which he was very disappointed. Mines was just ok and nothing special.

Quick lunch spot with so many options. I got the Grilled Pork Belly (their family secret) and it was SO GOOD. The portions are perfect, and everyone's food looked amazing.

We ordered an Elena's Mixed Plate 2 plate combo with Diniguan and Monggo Beans with Pork, it came with two scoops of rice. And we also ordered the March Special which had Pancit, Gisantes, Lechon and Pork Adobo Fried Omelet. The Diniguan was made perfectly! Not sour at all but just the perfect amount of flavor.. the Monggo Beans with Pork were cooked perfectly with delicious pork pieces inside. The March Special was such a good deal! The Pancit, made just right, thr Gisantes, spot on, thr Lechon, amazingly fried and the Pork Adibo Fried Omlete was absolutely delicious! Something i didnt know I needed! The rice was also cooked perfectly, not mushy or under cooked but just right! We got cups of water to drink and they brought us out two cups and a pitcher to refill our cups at the table which I can appreciate.. Overall such a great place with kind, friendly staff and amazing delicious food!

It might've been the search for fried chicken to which Minasa didn't disappoint. We arrived just after opening and happened to get the last open table - after ordering, of course. The restaurant is clean and well put together with darker accents. Our food came out relatively quick - having the chef's special and ube churros. The kalbi sauce soaking into the rice was the perfect balance of flavors. Same for the calamansi fried chicken. Lechon, I must say was also a fine example of how seriously the chefs take their selection of ingredients - as I looked closer, it had the classic 5 layers (shown in my photo). Usually, this is the prime factor in the perfect roast pork - providing juicy layers of pork meat. Overall, this has been the best (new) meal we've had in a LONG time. It was so delicious, I could only wish there was a way to share this place with a larger collection of diners because frankly, if you haven't tried this place, I honestly think you're missing out on the definition of culinary art. Each dish carefully crafted with the goal of providing the best experience to all the patrons. I seriously seriously hope you all have a chance to visit. If we're ever back on this side of the island, we won't hesitate to stop by.

I ordered their pork sisig with rice, and it sure was still delish! Pro tip for the business is using calamansi instead of lemon (but still good!). My order seems like it is for just one person but honestly, if you share it with another person, you'd still be satisfied because it is stomach-heavy! If you didn't have much to eat throughout the day, you could easily demolish the sisig dish I ordered. For drinks, they have canned sodas inside for $2.00 but I decided to get some smoothies at Hang's just doors down the place. Also, service from the cashier was not very friendly when I asked her a question, maybe she was not having a good morning. Idk. Anyways aside from that, everything else was good. Location is easy to get too, lots of convenient parking outside and dining area was very clean and up to date trendy. I do have plans to return to try their beef pares! That looks Ono too. We were spoiled to the max! The owners and their family run the place and in true Filipino hospitality, they served us buffet/family style and entertained us with their stories from their humble beginnings to what they are today. The food was the best I've had in the Island. Hands down. Everything tasted nostalgic because the technique used in cooking each dish tasted like a handed down recipe from a grandma's kitchen from back home in the motherland. If you're ever in the island of Oahu please make your way to Waipahu and sample as much of their offerings as you can and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed! 10/10 recommended coming from a humble cook who rarely raves about Filipino food because I myself learned from my paternal grandmother.

They're located on the corner and once you see a tent & smell bbq, you're at the right spot. This restaurant gave karinderia vibe to it! Karinderia is basically like those food stalls they have in the Philippines, where they have a bunch of dishes and you sit out to enjoy the food. Home cooked & affordable eats. They have everything from bbq sticks, adobo, lechon, kilawan, lumpia and more. I got the bbq stick & chicken inasal plate. The bbq stick was packed with so much flavor! The chicken inasal was more on the huli huli side & was served with Filipino dipping sauce. They also offer free sabaw with your meal. Ordering was a little complicating, they have a menu outside with food and also more food inside. The bbq items were cooked by order and the inside food had more of the Filipino dishes like (adobo). But next to the cashier, you could also find other fried dishes as well. So a little complicated. You also have the option to sit outside under the tent or inside the restaurant with AC. For this type of place, if you're dining in, you order & eat first then pay. Like any karindera. Overall, this place was VERY good & SUPER AFFORDABLE. If you want to experience a true Filipino experience with great food, this place is for you.
