Yo, that Oyster Sauce Chicken is like my "C.R.A.C.K.!" Lol! I've been on a Shoyu Chicken/Oyster Sauce Chicken binge as of late, and Mark's Drive Inn has been feeding my crack cravings! You can get this dish with noodles, cake noodles, or your standard two scoops rice & mac salad. Either way you get 'em, no can go wrong! The Oyster Sauce Chicken comes out hot, with a nice crispy skin, and gravy all ovah! I've been getting my fix with noodles as of late, but I must tell you if you do get this plate......be ready to eat, as the portions are more than generous! Of course Mark's Drive Inn serves an array of items, but I guess I'm a creature of habit, and know what I like. Nothing wrong with that, no??? Service here is on point, as the folks are friendly, and will bring out the food to you once your meal is ready. Ordered two lunch plates that I saw the reviews on Yelp of their Garlic Fried Chicken and chicken tonkatsu plate that are generous with their portions. Indeed portions are enough for two. I tried calling in but their phone kept ringing until hung up so I drove there to to place my order. Yes, their portions are generous for the garlic fried chicken. If it's karaage it'll be a different taste and coating fried chicken which I miss so much after my return here. I could make it but I've retired to cooking . On Tuesday, 11/26/24, at 11:30a I stopped by at Mark's Drive Inn to pick up lunch. I ordered the Beef with Bittermelon plate lunch. It came with 2 scoops of rice and a Mac salad. The Bittermelon was cooked perfectly with a crisp vegetable crunch and covered with a savory black bean sauce. The delectable beef married well with the stir fried combination. Although this place is small, there are some seats if you need to eat inside. Overall, this is a great place to pick up something quick to eat. Marks is always great for cheap eats. Oyster sauce chicken, the mushroom chicken and the cold ginger chicken is my tops. If you order cold ginger chicken ask for extra sauce, of course they charge a little bit extra but its worth it especially when you see how massive the pieces are! I concentrated on the Chinese dishes this time as I have been looking for a Gon Lo Mein like I could get at the now closed House of Dragon in Pearl City. While Mark's version is different ( thick noodles, no egg), it tasted pretty good with good wok hei flavor. This one is the closest to what I'm looking for with its drier-style noodles (not covered in gravy). The Oyster Sauce Chicken was so flavorful and plentiful. We also ordered the Sweet and Sour Spareribs which was plentiful and has good flavor, but some of the pieces were a bit tough. Probably another 15-20 minutes of cooking would have helped. I have to say the place was packed when we went at 11:30 on a Saturday and parking was tight, although lots of parking under the freeway if you don't mind walking a bit. It sounded like the nice lady was arguing with the kitchen staff, but that's how Chinese language is. It's loud and "straight to the point". And honestly? No regrets. The burger is the definition of "don't fix what isn't broken." Just a patty, cheese, and bun, but somehow it delivers flavor like it trained at culinary boot camp. Juicy, cheesy, and cooked like it knew we were coming. The fries? A whole avalanche of them. I belong to this FB group that posts ono food around the island and a number of people kept posting food from Mark's. I couldn't wait to give them a try! I drove out from Waikiki, ordered the lemon chicken and waited in the small cozy dining room. I guess you can eat inside if you like. The friendly woman shouted "mushroom chicken? mushroom chicken?" looking over at me. I told her I ordered lemon chicken. She admitted she made a mistake, and I think was going to have the kitchen make the lemon, but I took the mushroom because I was hungry. It was very good! Today I ordered the lemon chicken and fried rice. The lemon chicken lived up to all the hype my fellow helpers posted about. The chicken batter had seasoning so it could be eaten without the sauce. It's good. They do have fried rice on the menu but it's blocked by the altar. No worry, you guys never miss anything about that fried rice. It didn't have much flavor and very lil chicken but they do give a lot. Prices are reasonable but I would have to say that this place has the smaller plate to make it look like more food.
