Great service and even better food! The lunch special here is a great deal! For under $20 you can get 3 proteins and side dishes! Such great quality food for an amazing price.

The Yakiniku Bento Box was SUCH A COOL EXPERIENCE! I didn't see anything about this on their website, but I did see it on their Instagram, so I called to confirm. I called in an order for the bento box, and chose short rib, strip loin, pork belly and garlic rice. Check out their insta for more details on the bento boxes. My order was ~$32/box and was ready in 15 minutes! After pick up, we enjoyed the bento boxes at Kahala beach. The box includes everything you need, although I recommend bringing your own lighter/matches because the one supplied is difficult to light. The meat was delicious, tender, and juicy. The tiny grill worked like a charm as well! There's also sauces, kimchi, and picked radish included in the box. This experience was delightful, and I highly recommend surprising your loved ones with this.

The food is giving ~QUALITY~ I love coming here for lunch and getting the lunch set. It's $19.99 for your choice of 3 meats (I got the Harami, Sirloin, Tongue), Rice, Soup, sides, and hot tea. My mom got the pork. I loved all the meats, but my favorite is the Harami (my server recommended it to me). And did I forget to mention...HAPPY HOUR weekdays 4pm-6pm ($2 OFF ALL ALCOHOLIC DRINKS)?! YEAHHHH YOU YAKINIKU! The service was great! There was only 1 staff working when I was there, but he was super kind and attentive. He also knew his stuff, he recommended the Harami and the wagyu sushi to me (which they torch right in front of you- i'll attach the pic). Both ended up being my favorites. Parking is right in front of the restaurant, metered parking, and has always been easy whenever I've gone during lunch time. But those going later or around dinner time might have a different experience. Ambiance-- the place is what it is, slightly unassuming and some could say humble, somewhat small, not too busy. It's nothing like those ritzy restaurants popping up in town, but I can only speak for myself and for me it feels like home, and I love being here. I've come here a few times to simply be and enjoy good food, knowing I will be treated well, with genuinely nice staff, and get to enjoy myself. I'd recommend this place for its delicious food. and top quality meats. Plus it even made a believer out of my mom-- yeahhh youuu yakiniku!

Yakiniku Sizzle is the ultimate hidden gem for a mom-and-pop yakiniku experience in Honolulu--authentic, affordable, and packed with flavor. The family-run vibe shines through in every sizzling plate of premium wagyu and kalbi, cooked perfectly tableside with that smoky, irresistible char. Sides like kimchi jjigae and fresh banchan elevate the meal, and the service feels like dining at a friend's house. Can't beat the value for top-tier Korean BBQ; we'll be back weekly!

I came with my partner after a long days' hike and walk around the area. I am a HUGE fan of japanese BBQ and love gyu kaku, as well as have been to japan many times and order japanese bbq there as well as in the US frequently (maybe once every 2-3 weeks), so my standards are elevated. Visiting folks seem to like this place so I had high hopes. When I came in, the waitress seemed pretty busy as the only person, but she was attentive. There was a fly on my seat and she promptly removed it, as well as removed a dirty plate and gave us a clean one with us asking. I was impressed! The interior is similar to japanese taverns that I see in Tokyo. Pretty consistent with what I usually see, even the menu font was similar. I ordered a wagyu sukiyaki, iberico finger rib meat, beef tongue wagyu, harami skirt wagyu, and mushroom sizzling pot. Unfortunately, the beef tongue was out of stock, so I couldn't get it, and I decided to just drop that item instead of ordering an alternative. The Mushroom pot came and the cook actually dripped oil on my phone. I was mildly irritated but I could somewhat understand, because it was a cook and not the waitress. The wagyu sukiyaki wasn't bad! I loved the egg and rice with their spicy miso sauce. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't that tender, and I almost chocked while eating it after it cooked. I was a bit surprised since it looked like fairly marbled meat. The harami skirt steak was a bit of a letdown. It was similar in taste to gyu kaku's harami, but the portion size wasn't too big. For $25, I expected it to taste a bit softer, but after cooking, 1 of the 5 pieces was hard to chew, and the rest were a bit more tender, but none of them consistent with what I thought wagyu should taste like. The iberico finger meat was pretty good. My only gripe was how much we got for how much we paid, but it was my favorite of the meats. Overall, the service of the waitress was great, but the quality of the meat was a bit of a letdown, the oil dripping on my personal items was saddening, and the price for what I got missed the mark a bit. Great for someone who doesn't eat japanese bbq very often or hasn't tried japanese BBQ.

Beef Tongue Stew lunch plate. Tasty...

So...I didn't quite anticipate much coming into Yakiniku Sizzle, but boy did the expectations kind of play out a ton better than I thought it did. This place screams 'Japanese' from the decor to the menu...and I liked that. I ended up ordering the Beef Tongue Stew lunch plate, which, price-wise, for almost $20 (with tax), it might have been a bit pricey. But...because it's beef Tongue, I think it's understandable why it's priced that way. It really deliverered for sure. I never had beef Tongue before, and yet having tastes it, I have to say...it wasn't that bad. Super tender and the sauce really was delicious. Might have been the best thing I ate at a Japanese restaurant by far. Would I come back there again? Absolutely. Even though the place is pretty small, it definitely is a great place to consider if you're looking for something to eat that's kind of "out there" for sure.

A friend and I came to this spot spontaneously - we weren't super hungry but we wanted yakiniku and this was near by. The menu is vast! We didn't know what to order so we just got the set lunch special menu (about $20 a set) The quality of the meats were so good, we were satisfied with the small set to simply try out the place. But as we looked at the rest of the menu, we knew we needed to come back and try all the rest (and take better photos). The service was also great! Friendly and patient with us! Felt very "home-y" in the restaurant. Small place, not sure what the wait is like when it's busy. But lots of street parking around.

Yakiniku Sizzle is bringing the authentic taste of Japanese yakiniku right to Kakaako, delivering some of the best grilled meats in town! With a huge menu featuring everything from A5 Miyazaki Wagyu to shabu shabu, sukiyaki, and more, this cozy spot on Cooke Street has something for everyone. It reminds of a true mom and pop back alley yokocho izakaya. So don't expect a fancy interior, it's a cozy old school Japanese feel to the place. And the owners are soooo nice and treat you like family. Note: they have portable grills so don't expect a vent system overhead...so dress appropriately. But the quality of the meat at a reasonable price is totally worth it. Don't miss their weekday happy hour from 4-6 PM, or pop in for lunch to try their amazing specials. And rumor has it they may even offer a Japanese Kyoto-style breakfast soon! Must-try dishes? A5 Wagyu, Wagyu Tartare, Tripe Sashimi, and Washugyu Brisket!

We love the location and convenience of the place. Right in the middle of Kakaako, which is quite walkable to many eating establishments. They have a good selection on their menu, lots to choose from. We were mainly interested in Wagyu tonight, so we didn't get to try anything else this time. The service was great. She was attentive and helpful. It's nice to have a Wagyu option that's not too fancy or overpriced.

I'd like to try this next time!

We had an amazing lunch at Yakiniku Sizzle! Ordered the Wagyu Wafuu Hamburg, and it was so soft--paired with shiso leaf, ponzu sauce, and daikon oroshi, it totally reminded me of Japanese-style Hamburg steak. The lunch set menu comes with rice and soup, super reasonable, and there were so many choices! Our friend got the Yakiniku Teishoku, which came with homemade dipping sauces--all three were so good! The owner-chef and his wife are from Japan, and they were so friendly and welcoming! Definitely gives an authentic vibe. Can't wait to come back and try the liver sashimi! At night, this place turns into a full yakiniku spot with Miyazaki Wagyu and more. Check it out!

I was in the area and noticed this hole in the wall Yakiniku place just past 5pm on a Thursday. Since I was ballin' on a budget at the time, I decided to get Bibimbap (and I sure didn't regret it because it was the bibimap I adore with the right amount of flavor and sizzle. I was not that hungry, so I just ordered an additional side of pork belly, which was a great complement to the bibimbap. I wanted to try their lunch dishes but I didn't make the time cut off, so I'll definitely come back to try them! Street parking wasn't bad at all, and their place had its own restroom for customers. I love the vibe inside, and it surely reminded me of the time I went to Japan for the first time. The owner was cool and very accommodating. Yakiniku Sizzle would be poppin' too when the sun goes down, but eating here at lunch time is a great option as well! Staff service was on point, so keep up the great job! I shall return next time! ありがとう!!(*‿*)

We came here chasing our foodie experiences in Japan... iykyk. Had the lemon chuhai, karaage chicken (good), wagyu ribeye (delicious), wagyu kalbi (best dish), washugyu and wagyu yakisuki w/raw egg, premium tongue w/green onion/salt (so good), and wagyu beef sushi (). Service was on point! Everyone was so kind and helpful! ANDDDDD they hooked us up with the cutest iichiko stir stick . Will be back for sure and spreading the word!

I love this place, Been here twice and I want to go back today. I love the cozy atmosphere, the small menu, the cut of meats, the way there's no AC, the smoke wafting from your neighbor's grill, how you order a beer, and there's only Asahi.... Ribeye, short rib, marinated Kalbi, kimchi (that daikon was phenomenal) Service here is 10/10, uncle is so chill; so accommodating and fun. I do not speak one lick of Japanese, but ordered with ease. All else fails, just point at the menu item and smile. Keep killing it.

And how do I know that it's fresh? Because as we were at the restaurant, deliveries were being delivered nonstop. My kids devoured the salmon bowl with the salmon roe. My 8 year old's bowl was wiped clean. My 7 year old had only 2 slices of salmon and a few ikuras left. The 5 year old polished off her few pieces of salmon and roe along with her miso soup. And momma's Fukuju? Absolutely demolished. I should have ordered it with extra ikura because the quality and flavor that it provided to the bowl was something that I've never had before. I am usually not a fan of ikura, finding it too salty, but the ikura at Totoya was perfectly balanced. Second, the service was great. I had to give it to the lovely staff who were able to keep it all together when a party of 5 adults and 7 kids (aged between 5 to 11) rolled in, and of course the kids all chose to not sit with their respective parents. The food came fast and kept the peace of very hungry children. The place itself is a small little restaurant with just bar seating, no more than 16 seats, so definitely cozy. My friend sitting all the way on the other side of the bar said she could hear my conversation perfectly well, even though all the kids were loudly chatting. We will definitely be back the next time we make it out to Honolulu. Thanks to the restaurant again for providing such a memorable meal. It was all I could think about on the flight home because it was that good.

Even with a decent amount of seating, there is minimal space so they ask that you leave your strollers outside. When we called the first time saying our daughter was asleep they arranged everything in order to fit the stroller inside. The second visit, I had an even bigger stroller because it was a double stroller for my daughter and son. When I said my son was asleep they again, quickly tried to arrange space for the stroller until we realized he woke up. I truly appreciate them being so welcoming because I've come across many establishments that are not especially towards kids. As for the food, the first time the tonkatsu was a miss for me. I was comparing it to a popular spot on the island that books out months in advance that I tried just before my first visit here and it just seemed a lot more oily and not as tender. We were actually going to eat at the other business again but with two kids and walking non stop on our trip already, I was so happy we had an option closer to us. Both times, we were coming from Hilton Hawaiian Village. They have the cutest car bento boxes for the kids, and they let you choose the car color. My daughter loved the mini umbrella that came with her plate. My son was days before turning 1 year old so a lot of things ended up on the floor and even then, they were so kind about it. The best thing though for my husband and I AND my son, was the loco moco which we were told was limited and a new item for dinner since it was primarily only served as a lunch option? The flavor of the gravy alone was sooo good and rich. My son ended up eating my whole portion of rice and gravy with no crumbs left behind or on the floor lol. The other katsu items we ordered were nice and lightly coated and were not heavily oily at all. The only thing that I felt lacked was their curry especially in comparison to their gravy. I would definitely recommend coming here and I can't wait to come back. That was one of our favorite new dishes this trip and we come every year!

I got the pork loin with shrimp combo (the mixed portion instead of the large), and everything was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. One of my favorite parts was grinding the sesame seeds myself in the little ceramic bowl with the wooden grinder, then mixing in the tonkatsu sauce. It made the whole meal feel interactive and intentional, and the sauce was SO good on the pork loin. I also ended up getting a refill of the cabbage because the sesame dressing they served with it was honestly addictive. I went around 8 PM to avoid the dinner rush and was pleasantly surprised I got a table pretty easily. Taking my time with the smaller mixed portion made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable instead of rushed. Overall, really delicious food, great atmosphere, and one of my favorite meals I've had in Waikiki so far. Pictured are the before and after of my dish. Tasted like a creamy sour lemonade. I would come back just for this drink! I also really enjoyed their rolls and sushi. I got a few rolls and hand roll and they were all delicious and fresh. I cannot wait to return again!

Fun tip: If you purchase a bottle of sake, you get to randomly draw a prize! Prizes range from a free scallop sashimi to a "hug" from a staff member lol the staff members were all super friendly, but were a bit busy and rushed. The food was good. The dish they're known for, the ikura bowl, was the best standout dish to order. The other items were good but were a bit pricey for the quality and the portion. Overall, a spot I would return to again to try other dishes. My family had a good time there. Tips: the staircase getting up to the restaurant is steep, watch you step and be careful if drinking alcohol lol parking lot is paid and can fill up fast during prime dinner time. Street parking is hit or miss. Reservations are highly recommended.
