I came here again, no notes, look at my past reviews. It's a solid hot pot spot, may I say the best Chinese ayce spot on the island. They closed down due to ward village, but they have another location in waikiki
Ample delicious ayce food! Soup broths are good too! Service was attentive. We were able to have a private room. The restaurant is like a Chinese restaurant, lots of chatter, in a good way. Free parking at Ward!
This is one of my favorite hotpot places on island! Very good selection of Chinese hotpot items and it's nice to sample different items we've never had before. The broths we got (herbal, spicy, numbing, and tom yum) all had good flavor. Service was great too with refilling drinks and water. Taking off a star for the meat quality, it was decent but the beef belly was more fat than meat. Will definitely be coming again.
Hot pot has been one of my top cravings lately and even during my trip to Hawaii I had to have it. I stumbled upon this spot on Yelp and love doing ayce hot pot as it always is more worth it for my boyfriend and I. This place was very spacious and had no wait at all on a Saturday night. I love Chinese hot pot broth and enjoy mixing the herbal broth with a little bit of spicy broth. Most ayce places allow a mixture of both free of charge but this place charges $5. Both broths lacked flavor, even when mixed together which was disappointing. However, they had a pretty large variety of add ons which I enjoyed. You can order some of them with the server but majority of the ones I liked were next to the sauce bar. My favorites included the fish ball with roe, bean curd, and the meats. Service was pretty good here and they were attentive to all of our needs. My favorite part of this place was that they had such good unlimited drink options. The coconut juice in the can is one of my favorites on the island and their wintermelon tea is to die for. The perfect amount of sweetness and I would come back just for this drink. Overall, not the best ayce spot but it's one of the few they have here on the island.
This is hands down my favorite all you can eat Chinese hot pot spot. The spicy marrow and original marrow broths are insanely flavorful. The spicy one has that legit Szechuan kick without overpowering everything. Supreme beef and short plate beef are my go to meats and the portions are huge, which I love. The bean curds and enoki mushrooms pair perfectly with the broth, and there are so many options to choose from. Service is fast and attentive, and the sauce bar is top tier with tons of combinations. This place is perfect for big groups since the restaurant is spacious, clean, and modern. Overall a must if you love hot pot and want to leave very full and very happy.
AYCE option- comes with 3 rounds of ordering. Fountain drinks are included. Start off by choosing a broth in your personal pot. I really like the house made original. With each round you can pick vegetables, noodles, meats, seafood, and other items to put in your broth. They also have a sauce station to customize for your dipping. There is also kimchi and seaweed to pick at. The restaurant sees both locals and tourists, but it does get crowded. The wait time is sometimes over an hour long. Make sure you go early enough to get your full share!
Broth was amazing. I got the spicy cabbage broth and my friend got the spicy beef broth. The spicy cabbage broth tasted lighter compared to the spicy beef. The veggies were fresh and the meats were great as well. Definitely recommend the lunch all you can eat rather than the dinner because of less people and no wait time!
The service is always fast and the food plating are very clean. Most busy AYCE places like these would always have such a dirty interior and slippery floors, but this place was so nice and clean. I love the variety of options they have for soup and meat! The food is of great quality and tastes fresh. The sauce bar is awesome, too! My favorite hot pot place in Hawaii by far!
We tried Chong Qing Hot Pot last night since the cold weather had us craving something warm and comforting, and hot pot sounded perfect. Starting off, things were great. We went as a party of three on a Friday night around 6:30pm with no reservation and were seated in under 5 minutes, which was awesome. Parking is super convenient since you can use the Ward parking structure nearby. Once seated, utensils were ready for us and ordering was simple -- you order off a paper in three rounds. It's $38.99 per person for AYCE. The food itself was the highlight. The soup bases were flavorful, the meat quality was solid, and everything from our first round came out quickly. Definitely satisfying and exactly what we were craving. Service and consistency is where things fell short. Drinks weren't offered when we first sat down and we had to place a drink order after our soup and first round of meat arrived. We also never received any refills. On top of that, we ordered a lot of veggies and sides during rounds two and three, but about half of those items never made it to the table. The sauce bar could've been cleaner too -- a few of the dishes looked a bit dirty. Overall, the food quality is there, but the service and follow-through need improvement to match the price point. I'd consider coming back for the flavors, just hoping for a smoother experience next time.

Went a little after opening on Saturday and there were only a few other groups there (~5) so the restaurant was quiet. The server quickly came to serve soft drinks (included with the AYCE) and then we ordered our first round. The order came out within minutes! We went to the sauce bar to get our sauces. Lots of options. They also have shrimp chips, cut fruit, kimchi, and some other sides. Meat was good and so were the veggies. Everything was fresh. The broth: The server informed that we could do individual pots or share a large one. We chose to share so we could have two kinds of soups. The original was super good and was nice and light. The spicy had a good flavor in the beginning, but as it kept boiling, the chilies inside became more and more cooked, which turned the broth a little bitter towards the end. Overall, would come back the next time i'm craving hot pot as it was just as good as I remember it!
When it's winter time, this place is perfect! Something about their herbal soup base, it tastes very homey. I get it almost every time I go there LOL.

Came here twice, one time during lunch and one time dinner. First time I went I wasn't impressed and I wanted to give a 3-star review. Not sure if it was lu ch time so they didn't schedule that much staff so our orders took very long time or just didn't come. Staff was also just standing at corners chilling instead of serving the diners. This time service got so much better when we came back for dinner. I could see there was more staff. And they were all very attentive and patient. Food wise everything was good. So you are given three rounds to order, but you could order as much as you want each round. We tried the meat, the vegetables, noodles, seafood, and they were all good. They are food choices are little different than Shabuya, things that you usually see a Chinese hot pot. Good selection of sauces, seasonings, and other side dishes. Prices are acceptable and the best thing is my toddler gets to eat free! read more

I've eaten enough hot pot over the years to know exactly what this place is trying to be. The problem is that it feels like nobody here cares enough to execute it. The first thing I noticed wasn't the broth. It wasn't the vegetables. It wasn't the meat. It was the cleanliness. Water was spilled across the table. The window ledges were dusty and dirty. The surfaces around our booth looked neglected. For a restaurant built around a communal dining experience where you're sitting there staring at the table and surroundings for an hour or two, details matter. Then came the service. Our server seemed irritated by the simple act of having customers. I asked for a watermelon juice that was listed on the menu and got a curt response that there was no more watermelon. Restaurants run out of things. That's not the issue. The issue was the attitude. I was there with my wife and our two young kids, ages 2 and 4. When you're dining with little ones, you notice very quickly whether a restaurant is welcoming families or merely tolerating them. This felt like the latter. The food itself was okay. That's almost the problem. The vegetables looked like they came straight from a grocery store produce section. The broth was fine. The ingredients were fine. Everything was technically acceptable, but nothing felt thoughtful or memorable. What frustrated me most was the gap between what this place could be and what it currently is. Hot pot is one of those meals where you're paying for more than ingredients. You're paying for comfort. Hospitality. Atmosphere. The feeling that someone actually cares about the experience. Instead, I found myself staring at dirty surfaces, wiping spilled water from the table and wondering why nobody seemed particularly interested in being there. There are too many great places to eat in Hawaii to spend time and money on an experience that feels this indifferent. I wanted to like it. I left disappointed. read more

This is one of my favorite hotpot places on island! Very good selection of Chinese hotpot items and it's nice to sample different items we've never had before. Great selection of meats and vegetables, I do wish the sauce bar had more options such as hoisin sauce or sesame sauce (which wasn't available when I visited). The service was attentive and kind; our waters and broth were always refilled, the server brought us plenty of napkins, and frequently asked how we were enjoying the meal. Great spot with plenty of seating and options that satisfied our hot pot cravings! read more
Definitely my favorite AYCE hot pot on island. So many broths and ingredients to choose from, and you can choose between a large pot (which can be divided in half) to share at the table, or individual pots for each person. You order dim sum style, but don't think you only get one of each ingredient you choose--write the number of orders you want instead, and you'll probably be full after the first round. In addition to the great food, the staff are also fantastic here. They are super attentive and check in on you often, and they're very friendly. Reservations are for parties of four or more, and the wait can be as long as an hour for 2 on a busy night, so I recommend calling ahead to check. Parking is free and very plentiful in the attached garage. read more

This hot pot is located at Ward on the second floor. We can drop your family & friends off on the first floor and have them catch the escalator up. The ordering is a little different - they gave you a clipboard and a piece of paper and you mark how many of the items you would like. This includes the meats, seafood, and vegetables. They have an area that you can make seasoning with maybe eight options . On the same card they have fruits Jell-O, and the little bread that you put condensed milk on.... It's OK.. It gets busy and sometimes hard to wave down staff member. It's nice because you can make reservations ahead of time. Of course, reservations are to be made ahead of time, but I'm meaning a week or a month in advance. It's about $40 a person. The other costs for kids are by height. I forgot what the time limit was. About 90 minutes to. Two hours. Something of the sort. It's not a problem... you will get full before the 90 minutes. read more

The food was great, I love the sides that they have while we wait for the ingredients. They have chicken feet and these jelly dessert is what I love getting but there are other stuff too like kimchi etc. I got the spicy bone marrow and always get the beef and tripes with my veggies! We were two people and went there for lunch yesterday , the lunch buffet Shabu Shabu was $33.99, and we ordered four kinds of meat, such as the Supreme Lamb Shoulder, the Supreme Beef, the Beef Short Plate and the Sliced Pork Belly. The Beef Short Plate looked like a little old, so I just ordered one time of that. We also ordered some vegetables, and the Tong Ho also looked like old too at the first time, maybe we came early and they gave me the old one, but after that, second time was okay. The small mochi rice sesame ball a little soft not crispy , but good thing the orange and pineapple were fresh. The service was great, he made orders for us right away and refilled drinks for us many times. There was not many people, and a little quiet on Friday. so we can stay a little bit longer after we paid. Overall, we enjoyed the buffet lunch there even that was something was not perfect. read more
Ambience and space is really huge! Definitely a good spot to go with friends/family. There were a good amount of things to select for hot pot, and a separate spot to get sauces and things to flavor or dip for your hot pot selection. My kids and I love coming to Chong Qing Hot Pot. Located in Waikiki. Parking in the Discover Bay Center with validation will cost you $2.00. You order from a paper menu and you self serve your own vegetables, desserts and sauces. The staff is always friendly and attentive. read more
My son took me here for dinner. He had reservations. We were seated right away. When we left the restaurant, there was a long like outside. Broth was very tasty. Meat was fresh and very good. Vegetables were fresh as well. Deducted 1 star because the sauce station was not being kept up. It was messy and didnt get cleaned and replenished often. But other than that, the place is very good and servers were very attentive and nice. read more
Minus one star from my last rating for sub-par services. Had to repeatedly asking for water refills, extra napkins, adding broths, etc., notwithstanding the fact that the place was not even 1/4 occupied! Very disappointed. Had I been the one who picking up the tab, it would have been debatable that all the inattentive server(s) earned their tips. Way too many of them nowadays think tips are they automatic and don't have to earn it the old fashioned way: above & beyond services. Other than that, all is considered well. read more
We went on New Years day, because nothing else was opened, and were SO blown away with how yummy everything was. There was a waitlist, but since we got there at opening, we were seated no problem. You get a menu where you can mark off the broth, meats, veggies, starches and seafoods that you want. It's broken down into R1, R2 and R3, for the three different rounds you can order. You write down how many of each you want per round (ex. 1 order of pork, 3 orders of lettuce, etc.). There's a sauce bar where you can make your own sauces and add toppings, and the broths come in a personal pot so you can enjoy your own. Prices are really reasonable; $34 for weekday lunch and $39 for weekend lunches and Dinner. Be aware of the 90 minute limit, and don't over order because you may need to pay a fee if you leave too much food. The service was SO quick and attentive. My water was always filled and they constantly came back to ask if we were doing okay. By the time we left around 7pm there was a line of about 20 people waiting outside. read more

What's the minimum people for making reservation?
Not sure what the minimum is but was told I couldn't make for two. I've only made for 4+ groups so far.
What is the difference between the AYCE Dinner menu and Lunch Menu? They look the same to me but there's a marked price difference.
Dinner menu and lunch menu are the same, we just do the promotion for lunch, so it's a little cheap than dinner.
