A very cozy establishment with a total of 4 bench tables. Each table could likely hold between 3 to 6 people depending upon the size of the group. If you are a taller person above 6 ft you may have some difficulty fitting your legs under the table due to low height. I know I did and had to sit sideways to get comfortable. Overall, a great hole in the wall Chinese place with authentic flavors and very generous portions for the price. Food: I had the braised beef dry noodles. The ordering is by QR code and each person can customize their order. I added choy sum, made it regular spicy, choose the wide noodles (SO good and chewy), and requested low salt. It was a bit salty, but I think might have been less salty that the soup noodles my friend ordered (also low salt). Spice level was perfect for me today as I just had really spicy food two days before. You can tell they know what they're doing because the braised beef comes out in a separate dish as not to sully its intense flavor by diluting it in the soup. The beef is so tender and well-spiced; the meat is cooked to perfection and not over-braised and stringy like some other places. I've kept Wuwei Chong Qing Cuisine (WCQC) under my radar for quite some time now. Born and raised in a traditional Chinese family where parents hailed from Hong Kong, my palate is primarily Cantonese food, but I do like spreading my horizons. There's a string of Northern Chinese cuisine joints in Honolulu now and I don't mind exploring with my family and friends. So, when given a chance I recently dragged my family to see what WCQC all is about. Located on S King St just across Zippy's and Washington Middle School, WCQC opened back in March 2021 and apparently is still going strong. We took the plunge several weeks ago on a weekday where I met my sister and BIL for lunch. Knowing that they have a small parking lot behind their restaurant, I gave it a try but with no luck, so I parked on the street. My sister and BIL, who arrived later, scored on the of stalls in the parking lot. I arrived shortly after 12pm and to my delight noticed Mandarin speaking patrons in front and to the right of us. Very promising. I perused the menu ahead of time and knew I wanted to order an array of dishes to share. I scanned the QR code and scrolled through their menu, where you place your food order by adding items into your shopping cart. I loved the simple décor where you had limited art on an eggshell-colored background. Restaurant was clean and not cluttered as some of the Chinese restaurants. I knew I wanted to get their Five Spice Beef and Beef Tendon and after consulting with sister and BIL, we added on julienne pork and preserved vegetables with noodles, pig's feet with noodles and mapo tofu and rice with an extra fried egg. After submitting the order, it didn't seem that long for the food to arrive. THE VERDICT: This is not the Cantonese food that I am accustomed to eating. We found the food to have that punch of spice and heat. My absolute favorite was the julienne pork with preserved vegetables. This is comfort food to me and similar to what I usually eat at Cantonese restaurants but with a different type of noodles, a richer broth and different condiments. It was amusing the waitress came to our table prior to food preparation regarding the mapo tofu that I had requested mild. She commented that mild is quite spicy so I brought the level down. Sadly, I wasn't impressed with the mapo tofu as it lacked richness and depth in flavors that I was looking for. On a positive note, the fried eggs were executed well as they were friend on a high heat for the great crusty exterior on the bottom. The pig's feet noodle was also tasty. The trotters were braised well with tender and gelatinous collagen from the skin and tendons. It was delicious but quite rich. We also had cold appetizers of Five Spice Braised Beef and Five Spice Beef Tendon that looked promising, but it didn't deliver for me. The tendon wasn't tender enough and it lacked the gelatinous consistency that I was hoping for. I do enjoy beef shank, but this braised beef didn't suit my palate. The beef was on the leaner side and borderline dry. It was evident that mala spice was used in the food that we ordered as my mouth started to get numb. We needed something to cool our palate, so I added on the marinated cucumbers into our cart and the dish came out soon after. The cucumbers were cool and refreshing - just what we needed. Keep in mind you are able to customize your order. You can request less oil and/or less salt. A big plus for those with nut allergies or who don't care for green onions, garlic, ginger and/or sesame paste - - you can request the kitchen to omit them. For some items you can select the spice level and also add toppings as well as extra noodles. Be careful when selecting add ons as it ranges from $2 (choy sum or a fried egg) to $15.99 (pig's feet). The price of your bowl of noodles can easily spike up. Customer service was average. Not all staff speak English, nor could anyone understand Cantonese, so the one bilingual staff came to our table several times to assist us. It was a full house when the food was delivered to our table. All patrons were Chinese - - a good indicator of the restaurant's authenticity. During our time there, there was a Caucasian girl who came to pick-up her DoorDash order that was ordered online. Overall, an above average experience where I wouldn't mind coming back again. You know you're in for some decent authentic to the region cuisine food, when you are greeted in Chinese, the parking is bad, and the shop is tiny. I've been here a couple of times and every time the food has been great. We've gotten the dry pork with egg, braised pork in soup, fish soup, and the house spicy beef noodle. Every dish has been excellent and it's one of my top noodle restaurants. Wuwei Chong Qing has an online ordering system where you scan the QR code, order on the website, in English, your meal with a huge amount of customization, including level of spiciness, extra noodle, type of noodle, fried egg, extra meats and veggies, so on and so forth. Be aware, there are peanuts everywhere, so if you're allergic go to Zippy's across the street and stare longingly at your friends enjoying a delicious meal. The place is fairly popular so expect wait times if you come during dinner or lunch, but the tables turn relatively fast in the air conditioned restaurant. Also, there are only five tables split between four seaters and one two person bench. Which by the way is situated at the front as some sort of advertising as people can watch you eat through the glass. There's a tiny parking lot in the back, but you're more likely going to be forced to look for street parking. For a Chinese restaurant, they are totally on it with the ice water, where as in most Chinese restaurants you have to remind the wait staff five times before they refill your water. Finally trying this for the first time even though they have been opened for 3 years already. The place feels like a small quaint shop with just 5 tables. It seems like it's just street parking on king street and the bathroom is around the corner outside the building. You know a Chinese place is good when you see a lot of Chinese diners in there and this place hits the spot! My favorite is their OG beef rice noodle soup, but honestly their dry noodle dishes are bomb too, oh and spicy chicken feet (haha yes real Chinese food here) is worth a try if you're into that. I pass by this spot ALL the time and have been super curious about them, because you can smell the different spices as you walk past them. We went at around 11am on a Tuesday and were excited to get a seat upon arriving. We got the house beef noodles ($16) and dry mix noodle with pork ($13.50) and both were super generous portions that we couldn't finish, loaded with noodles and meats. the regular spiciness was perfect for me and i personally love the numbing, tingling spice that it offered. I'm so happy we got there when we did, because by the time we got our food, the whole place was packed with people waiting outside too. We ate the dry noodles first and they were amazing; a burst of flavor coming from the sautéed meat; a little salty and a little spicy. We didn't specify the spice and it was just right for us; but it can be altered. The beef broth soup was also really good! I would eat that first next time - more mild tasting with a full, rich soup and tender beef. The greens were cooked to perfection. The drinks were a unique treat as well - the tea in the can tasted like post-partum confinement tea... . Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Szechuan noodle place! read more

The Wuwei Spicy Beef Noodle here is so good!! I like spicy food, so I got extra spicy and found that to be the perfect level. I read some other reviews saying that regular spicy was not spicy enough. There was so much flavor in the broth, and it had a numbing spice, which I really enjoyed! The noodles were also so chewy and paired super well with the soup. I got the thick noodles, but they seemed pretty thin. The portion size was huge, as I was so full after. I also got the pig ear for takeout, and it was so crunchy and flavorful! Definitely recommend! Service was really fast and food came out fast as well. Note that went I went, none of the staff really spoke English, so knowing Mandarin is a plus. read more
