Able to sit immediately!! But it was tough trying to get the waitress to order food. Once ordered, food came out quickly. The place was super smoky from all the Kalbi plates... irritated my eyes. But overall, great place to eat
Crazy to think there's no meat Jun in the mainland. It's an old school restaurant with the classic Korean dishes. Naengmyun - chewy noodles and ice cold vinegary broth was so good on a hot day. The meat jun had a thick slice of meat, not too eggy. The Kalbi was also finger licking good.
Delicious Cold Noodle What they are known for. A friend and I went for lunch on a Saturday and got the Spicy Cold Noodle shared special with Kalbi. Absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a good size to it and can seat quite a few. It was my first time but my friend had been here many times before. This is located along Kapiolani not too far down after you turn off Ward, and has a small parking lot... one driveway in and one out, don't miss it. Casual, friendly. I am definitely returning!!
The best cold noodles in town. It's a must try , for those who haven't had it. Good service and great clean restaurant, parking can be a bit challenging during peak hours. This restaurant has very clean restrooms too.
Shockingly high prices especially for the portion size. I don't mind paying a premium for quality food and ingredients, but it is just average korean food and a single serving set meal is almost $50.
Best cold noodles on the island. Except I only have had it at one other place. But still! The first time I tried it, I was blown away. Now, this is the only place I come to for cold noodles. The spicy one is amazing. It's not too spicy (I don't really like spicy food) and more flavorful than the regular one. The noodles are perfectly chewy. The kalbi is my favorite pairing. It is flavored perfectly and comes on a sizzling platter. Bring a friend and get set A. Two orders of cold noodles and a side of your choice (spicy pork, bulgogi, or kalbi). Authentic (I think), delicious, and a hidden gem.
Today I got to try the Spicy Squid and it was good. The service was friendly and they are in a very convenient place.
A small pretty simple Korean restaurant, not many items to choose from. You can view the menu in my photos. They do have their own parking lot that share with a golf shop next door. I believe the cold Noodle is one of the very popular item because a lot of people ordered that noodle. Since this is the first time we visit this restaurant, the waitress was very nice and explain to us about the menu. We did try the ice cold noodle, it was surprisingly good and very refreshing. We ordered a combination dinner with the short rib and soft tofu soup. I must say the short rib is just average and the soft Tofu soup is very small but with a lot of tofu, the portion is like a side order. The small little side dishes are just OK in our opinion. If you're really enjoy a lot of good side dishes, you need to go try Hangang, they have so many side dishes. We don't think we will come back because the food is not that impressive. Well, you never know until you try it, especially as a Yelp reviewer, I will keep trying new restaurants
Food was tasty, but the service completely ruined the experience. When we asked for our check, our server told us the tip was already included even though gratuity is usually only added for parties of six or more. As a server myself, this was unbelievable. All she did was take our order and drop the food. she NEVER checked on us once. When I asked to remove the automatic tip so we could add our own, she gave us a nasty look. Totally unprofessional. The food is good, but the service was so disappointing so unfortunate. Also this is more than 15% tip they included. Ridiculous.

My friend raves about their spicy cold black noodles . Since I don't really like spicy we ordered the mild plus Kalbi. For $38.95 it comes with 1 soup and a choice of meat either Kalbi, Bulgogi or spicy pork. Not bad at all it can feed 2 people easily. They also have a lunch special with a choice of 2 soup and choice of meat for $54.95. Next time I probably will order the spicy soup noodles because it was very mild tasting . The Kalbi was ok a little on the rubbery side but good taste . Their bachan had a good selection kimchi ,bean sprouts, daikon, cabbage and fish Cake . Service was ok but can use a little more friendliness. Support local next time I'll probably order their Bulgogi and spicy pork
We tried again last night. Did take out and I must say that the cold noodle dish my husband was raving about was refreshing. Honestly though, the meat jun and chicken were just a tad dry. I think the food was better when we ate in the last time. Go figure. I'd go back for that soup though. It was really good!
Location wise is definitely not ideal as the parking stalls are quite tight and located right next to the McKinley Car Wash which always has a crazy line extending onto Kapiolani Blvd. If you do decide to go, Sunday would be an ideal day when the car wash is closed. My family was really craving Naengmyeon so we all went for lunch. They offer two types of naengmyeon which is mul (water) or bibim (mixing). The mul naengmyeon is noodles in an ice slushy or broth with crushed ice. The bibim is more saucy and has the broth on the side. I personally prefer the bibim in terms of flavor wise since it won't be as diluted in the broth. They also give you extra vinegar and mustard to add to your broth as well. The mul naengmyeon but good but somehow I felt something was missing. They offer a combo where you get one choice of meat and a naengmyeon. We got the kalbi and spicy pork. The kalbi had a great flavor and was soft. The spicy pork was soft but was a little too salty with the sauce. Customer service wise, it was not great. There were times a lot of the workers were standing around in the back but rarely refilled our waters or asked if we needed anything else. Even the table next to us had to flag them down for more napkins. When we paid our bill, my sister said they were commenting about how much they got tipped in Korean. A bit unprofessional I would say. Overall the food was pretty good but in terms of other criteria, I'm not sure if I would visit again
Such good cold noodles!! We and my friend split the deal with two bowls of cold noodle and bulgogi. We both got the spicy cold noodles which had the perfect amount of spice where it adds flavor without burning your mouth. Bulgogi was flavorful but the cold noodles were the star. They have a few parking stalls in front of their store and lots of seating inside!

The best naengmyeon on island and it's not even close!! You can get one with the soup inside or a spicy one on the side. Pair it with kalbi and it is the best refreshing noodles you'll have! Staff is super friendly and food comes out very quick. read more

We came to Yu Chun specifically for the naengmyeon and kalbi. The food itself was good, but unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. First, it felt very overpriced. Cold noodles and a half order of kalbi came out to over $40 after tax and tip, which seemed excessive for what we received. The service was also very slow and inattentive. We waited for water refills, and when we were ready to leave, it took a while just to be able to pay. The most uncomfortable part was the checkout experience. The staff member held onto the POS system and positioned it in a way where they could watch while I selected the tip, which made the whole process feel pressured and awkward. Then, while I was still deciding which credit card I wanted to use and had just pulled one out, they quickly moved the POS terminal toward my card to initiate the tap payment without waiting for me. I found that incredibly rude and intrusive. It's disappointing because we actually enjoyed the food, especially the naengmyeon and kalbi, but between the high prices, slow service, and uncomfortable payment experience, we left with a very negative impression. Good food alone isn't enough to make us want to come back. read more
Not the same place as Los Angeles! They both have slightly different names. It's a lowkey Korean cold noodle restaurant that specializes in cold noodles. Got the combo with 2 noodles and 1 kalbi. They are actually pretty good and kalbi was as well. I will say it's definitely overpriced with a price tag of $66 for the combo for the meal you're actually getting. These dishes are meant to be affordable as not much go into it with very minimal labor. For the price you'd just go to a Korean restaurant and get hot soups with banchan, etc. you have to pay for everything separately here. Service was bad, staff came to get our order and would leave to pick up food for others and we had to call over so they can get our order in. The place is nothing out of the ordinary so the boring vibes, so next time I'll just get the cold noodle at a kbbq restaurant. One thing to note: There must be a ton of sodium in the broth or kalbi, because I felt super groggy and fatigue when waking up the next morning. read more

Got a quick bite to eat lunch my favorite cold black noodles with cucumber and egg at Yu Chun the place was packed good thing only for me single sitting no waiting no menu needed was out In minute before others already seated . I see almost everyone eating the same thing cold noodles . ! ! Parking is a little hassle but worth every order There are a lot on menu besides my favorite Waitress are quick and efficient owner tells me it'll very busy till after New Year holidays Happy New Year if Dragons 2024 everyone ! read more

Wanting something refreshing on a hot day, we stopped in for some cold noodle. The cold noodle was delicious -- refreshingly tasty with a bit of umami. I also liked that the ice was blended into a slush to make it easier to eat. We got the combination with two cold noodles and one kalbi. The kalbi was also good, but nothing extraordinary. I did like the sizzling plate the kalbi came with that was sautéing the onions as we ate. It is a little pricy for what you get, but the food is good (which is what we were there for!). read more
I would give the cold noodles - both the regular and spicy - five stars! Everything else is just OK in my opinion. We got some bulgogi, japchae and the banchan all to go. I loved how it was packaged, and the sauce still had ice. The cold noodles are chewy and delicious, everything I could ask for! The bulgogi, japchae we're a bit too sweet for our liking. It was fairly pricey for the amount that we got even for takeout. Also, the amount of bunch we got for four entrées was pretty slim, I was hoping for it to be a little more generous. Bottom line, eat the cold noodles in the shop where you can have as much on as you like! read more

Yu Chun is always consistent for Naengmyeon. The broth is always the right amount of tangy and icy. The ladies who work here have been here forever and are efficient with service. Parking lot is a bit challenging to get in and out, but there is parking! read more

My hubby and I needed a place to eat before a concert at the Blaisedell center. We had no reservation thus we happened to stumble upon this little Korean restaurant. Let me tell you that it did not disappoint. As we entered, we were quickly seated at a table and given a menu. The ambiance was quiet and had a homie feel to it. We ordered our food and waited a bit for everything to come out at one time. First we were served the banchan. It was delicious, fresh, and clean. We truly enjoyed every single dish and it met all our expectations. Next we were served the meat jun. It had just the right amount of egg to meat portions. Thus it felt light and not heavy or greasy. And last we ordered the seafood green onion pancake. Let me tell you this is something you need to order. As we were served this dish, one of the kind servers cut up our pancake table side for us to eat fresh and had bite sized pieces. Overall, my hubby and I truly enjoyed this experience and would like to return to try other dishes. If you are ever near Kaka'ako and craving Korean dishes, this is a must visit read more

Came to have naengmyeon because I recently binged on both seasons of Tale of the Nine Tailed and am super curious to have a taste, and my coworker really likes the naengmyeon here. We arrived a little before 1:00pm on a Monday. The restaurant was somewhat busy but we were seated right away. We ordered the set A (2 naengmyeon + kalbi). The kalbi came first, sizzling on a hot plate with sliced onions, smelling sooo good. We were given two ban chans (pickled cabbage and pickled radish sheet). The noodles were brought out not long after and our waitress cut the noodles for us without prompting. The broth was tasty! Light and vinegary. There was some slush which sounds weird but fortunately the broth was not oily so at least there wasn't bits of solidified oil floating about. The noodles were so chewy! The combination of chewy noodles and sliced crunchy cucumbers was interesting. I didn't care for the thin sliced boiled beef tho, but maybe I should have dunked it in the broth. The kalbi was so flavorful and tender and delicious. Kind of pricey tho (Ala carte price was $35.95). The set was $54.95 ++ I think. Definitely an occasional splurge. Service was attentive enough, the waitresses came by to refill our waters regularly. Bright open space, looks clean, with fiberglass dividers. Sufficient parking. read more

My brother good friend made a suggestion to him and told him try this Korean restaurant. Located on Kapiolani Blvd where McKinley car wash snd the oro am golf store is. Well it says they open at 11:00am but when we pulled in their parking lot the sign on the door said open. So walked in and we were the 1st one in there. We ordered their set B includes 1 cold noodles, 1 meat or spicy pork . We also had pan fried mandoo, and tofu soup. The cold noodles was black in color and was served in a water vinegar broth was good. Their kalbi had a good taste and the tofu soup was just a bit spicy for me even though we ordered it mild spice. The pan fried mandoo wasn't homemade we think it was pre made or pre brought. All in all the food was different then other restaurants we tried. Just about 12:00 or so the restaurant got crowded. The server was polite and ask us if we needed more water or anything else. We said nothing were fine. Support them if you in the mood to eat cold noodles or anything else. read more

We got the set A, which includes two Naengmyeon noodles and a meat dish. We had kalbi, one regular and one spicy noodle. This costs about $57 but the food is delicious. The noodles alone are about $17. The service is good and the place is clean. It can get pretty busy for lunch but we arrived before noon so it wasn't busy. read more

Had lunch at Yu Chun today .It was highly recommended by my brother-in-laws friend. We order a combo plate consisting of Kalbi and Black noodle soup. Also, order the tofu soup and a side of fried mandoo. The black noodle soup was excellent ( the dish recommended by my brother-in-laws friend). Cool and refreshing with a slight vinegar taste. The Kalbi was tasty. unfortunately, it wasn't tender. We ordered the tofu soup at the regular spice level. It was delicious but overly hot for our pallets . It had a prawn and slivers of mushrooms in it. The fried mandoo didn't look or taste homemade, but It was edible. The layout of the restaurant was clean and spacious. Our server was friendly and efficient. But, the lady that sat us down seemed and looked grouchy. Enjoy read more
If you're known for a specific dish or item, it better be good, and most importantly, consistent. Yu Chun Korean Restaurant has been advertised as specializing in "Black Noodles" or naengmyeon (Cold Noodles) for years! Does it live up to that expectation? This place has been located next to McKinley Car Wash along Kapiolani for many years. Even decades. There's plenty of parking out front. I've been here twice ordering the same, Black Noodle with Spicy Sauce. It's like a bibim naengmyeon with cold broth. This particular noodle is made with arrowroot starch to give it a very nice silky smooth texture, and a chewy bite in a good way. The spicy sauce is delicious! Sweet, savory with a hint of Korean spice. The broth was tasty and hearty. It comes with two very thin slices of beef, strips of cucumber, Kimchi radish slices, and half a hard boiled egg. Plus a side of pickled radish. Now the topping does seem very little, but that's how it is. This dish is showcasing the noodles, and does a great job at that. Personally, I'd rather have a side of kimchi than more pickled radish. Overall, I'm a fan of Yu Chun's naengmyeon! Love the noodles! Love the sauce and broth! Service is great. Location is super convenient. But I agree $15.95 for an order is pretty pricey with the type of ingredients you're getting. Korean Radish and cucumbers haven't quite been impacted by inflation. Not something I'd order too often. read more
This is our go-to place for naengmyeon. I always get a combo, which includes naengmyeon (you can get it spicy if you want) and your choice of meat. The bulgogi and kalbi are great choices. The combo is about $39. It's a bit high, but the food is good and you'll be leaving full. There is tons of seating and service is fast. They also serve some sides, such as kimchee, cabbage, and pickled radish. Parking is available in the lot in front of their restaurant. FYI, the stalls are on the smaller side. read more
Got this to go and noodles with cold broth, good because they gave a side of the vinegar and mustard! So refreshing on a hot day, especially because the cold broth with the ice slurry. Just make sure you have some scissors at home to cut the noodles yourself! My boyfriend lives for meat jun and said this is one of the better ones he's had recently. Flavorful, big servings, plus they gave him four kinds of banchan with his meat jun plate order (kimchee, daikon, bean sprouts, and fishcake!), great way to sneak in veggies in his meal. Came here to try the cold noodles since it was recommended & been on a naengmyeon frenzy. We ordered the naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, meat Jun, and spicy rice cakes (Tteokbokki). The soup in the naengmyeon had a really strong beef flavor, excellent! And I love how they have it iced so it's a slushie basically. The noodles were way too thick for my liking. I like the super thin, chewy noodles so that might be just me. Comes with a slice of meat, cucumbers, and some radish. Overall, pretty good. Definitely would eat the noodles with some meat Jun or kalbi. Tteokbokki was good! Rice cake was fresh and chewy with some veggies and fish cake. Meat Jun had okay flavor by itself but good with the noodles. Service was good. There was a lot of Koreans around us so you know it's a place they enjoy eating at! read more

Bf and I went here for weekday lunch. It's located next to pro am shop and there is parking in the front. We ordered the Set A which includes 2 cold noodles (we got mul naengmyeon) + meat choice between kalbi, spicy pork, or bulgogi (we got kalbi) Naengmyeon was refreshing ! They also bring out hot mustard and vinegar to flavor it more. The kalbi was also seasoned well. Service was also good as they kept our waters refilled Will definitely come back again read more

i dont know for sure - but i most likely want to say yes. if you are asking out of allergy related concerns. it could be cross-contamination between the dashima or even kimchee. salted shrimps are usually used to make kimchee.…
