We went there for Father's Day dinner and they have parking in the building parking lot. The food was very good and service was fast and friendly. The mandoo came out hot and crispy and not oily and the dipping sauce was very tasty, the mandoo was delicious. The spicy squid that I ordered was good not too spicy and more vegetables than squid but was very good. My wife had the meat Jun and said it was okay, but she liked the sauce. The seafood chives pancake was very good and tasty. The bulgogi Hot pot was also very filling and tasty. The banchan was very flavorful and tasty and kept refilling it. Me and a friend got to Ireh around 4:30 pm and was seated right away. We decided to order friend mandoo, meat jun, and LA Kalbi. We received the fried mandoo for our appetizer and it was piping hot, full of filling, and delicious. Not too long after our meat jun and Kalbi arrived. Parking is available in the Azure Building on Keeaumoku St. We wanted to try someplace new to us. We've been on a hunt for places that are small and intimate that are not too pretentious. Ireh Restaurant is very welcoming and warm. We were shown a table near the window and were told away from the air conditioning. The menu is simple and enough choices to make it difficult for us to choose. We decided on a soup and rice plate and chose Yukgaejang aka Hangover soup and Bulgogi Bibimbap. Inside the restaurant was very nice and modern. It wasn't too busy around 7pm on a Wednesday night so we were seated immediately. We ordered the tteokbokki with cheese, kimchee fried rice, and the spicy buckwheat noodle and kalbi combo. The spicy noodles were perfectly seasoned with a nice kick. The Kalbi ended up being my favorite for the night as it was well marinated and very tender! The tteokbokki was also very tasty and the kimchee fried rice was as well. I have been to Ireh countless times, ever since their original location on Keeaumoku St. Their food has always been consistently good. The service is friendly and pretty attentive. The space within the establishment is clean but also homey. My partner and I usually always get the meat jun and seafood pancake, with another item that changes dependent on the visit. We usually get heir Yaekjang but we decided to try their cheesy pork tteokkbokki as I was craving it. Unfortunately, it was just not for my taste. When we were ordering, I asked our waiter if the base of this tteokkbokki has everything that the other dishes have (fishcake, veggies, tteok, egg, etc) and he was able confirm that. However when we started to eat, we realized that it was missing fishcake and egg. I didn't want to be bothersome but it definitely didn't help with the experience. It was very flavorful but I do feel like the pork was really fatty and didn't pair well with everything. I would say, if you're craving tteokkbokki, the cheese may not be the way to go. I feel that cheesy tteokkbokki would be better with a rose, creamy base. Our kimchi also tasted off this day we visited, my partner suspects that they added rice wine in the ingredients of the kimchi, which created a "chemically" aftertaste. Although this experience doesn't dimmish the spot that ireh was occupied in my heart, it definitely falters it just a bit. read more

Darn. Had to drive around few times and asking two parking attendants at the nearby business. It is so easy after the fact. 1st floor of the nice hotel. Park at the multi story garage and down to 1st. Super clean restroom on 2nd floor. It is a mom and pop type but very clean and modern compared to similar types of eatery. Most dishes are priced at around $20. However, quality and quantity built in. Lots of options and most appears to be unique. 3.5 stars I came here with a craving for yukgaejang, and this place popped up on Yelp. They also serve meat jun, which is a Korean dish unique to Hawaii. There was plenty of metered parking, and arriving for a late weekday lunch, I was pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant was 70% full, mostly with Korean customers, all Korean employees --a great sign! The food was good. The yukgaejang was packed with vegetables, although I would have preferred a bit more meat. The meat jun was fine, but since it's not my favorite dish, I'm not the best judge. Service is still attentive, friendly, and the food quality is good but lacks that ajumma vibe. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant is clean. When you also walk through the hallway you can see through the windows into the restaurant it has a great view of the kitchen and dining area. The food came out hot and it was delicious! The squid was close to a mild-medium for a child but tasted great and still had all the flavor that made the spice worth it. The seafood noodle soup flavor was just right if tasted like homemade soup. The noodles were perfect texture, it was soft and had the right amount of chewiness I couldn't stop eating them. The seafood was okay but it did give the broth a nice flavor. The banchan was a little small only 2; usually when I go to Korean Restaurants I like to have verity of banchan at least 5, but it's okay the entrees make it worth it to go back and try other dishes. My rating for food would be higher if we had more banchan When we left all of the staff waved goodbye to us through the window while we went into the elevator. Out of all the places I visit, this restaurant is one of the cleanest, and I love that the food always tastes fresh, light, and not overly salty. My friend and I came during busy hour (1pm) and we didn't wait long to get a seat! Right away we were served hot tea! Normally you have to ask for tea but in our case we didn't have to! The waitress came and asked if we were ready to order 5 min after sitting. We told her we were still looking. She came back around 5 min after when we were ready and placed our order! My friends from high school plan an annual get together each year when one of us that now lives in California comes back home to visit. This year, we decided to try Ireh as many of us had been to their previous locations, but not the newer one in the condominium complex, Azure. I must give a huge high five to Azure for allowing free parking for the businesses that are in their building. My friends and I all agreed that we would be much more willing to frequent these businesses due to this reason. So many places charge for parking these days, so it's nice to see a condominium allowing patrons to park for free to visit the businesses. My friends and I ordered the spicy pork tteokbokki, kimchi pancake and Al Bap (rice, vegetables, kimchi, clover sprouts, nori and tobiko in a stone pot). While we enjoyed all of our food options, I think we all agreed that the spicy pork tteokbokki was the winner. I honestly was looking forward to the kimchi pancake the most as I hadn't had it in a while, but it lacked the crunchiness that I would want from a kimchi pancake. Being that it was served to us fresh, it should have been crunchy and not soft (as you would find if it had been sitting out for some time). The banchan options are minimal here as they only give you kimchi and pickled onions. I usually expect to see more options at Korean restaurants. Service was attentive and friendly. We had to ask for water a few times as they give you a smaller size carafe that we needed to share amongst the four of us. I would come back here, though. Gathered with the fam tonight and on the recommendation of Amanda & Felix, finally got to sit down for a meal at Ireh. Parking lot was easy with plenty of spots available (free). The service was attentive and friendly. In the menu tonight were the classics. LA Kalbi, Yangnyeom Chicken, Fried Mandoo, and Meat Jun. Kalbi was tender and sweet, Mandoo was crunchy and filled to the brim with a soft filling that tastes so good with a dash of soy sauce. The Meat Jun was so soft & flavorful and the Yangnyeom was spicy! I like it with a bit of heat and these wings had me reaching for the agua. The Kim Chee and pickled onion ban chan were so good that we asked for like 5 refills. Overall an awesome family style experience. Our dinner at Ireh was our top meal in Waikiki this visit, edging out local grub, poke, malasadas, and Japanese. It's in the Azure building and there is free parking. The kalbi jjim was so tender, generously portioned, and extremely tasty with a sweet soy braise. The dak kalguksu was my personal favorite, just a warming, nourishing bowl of chicken broth and chewy handmade wheat noodles. The brothy noodles were so good that I almost made us return for a second meal or get take out. The Ireh chicken was very good too with standard korean bar food - crispy fried chicken wings and a sweet/spicy sauce over rice. It's always been great eating here. My other half calls it the "healthy Korean" restaurant. We always get the vegetable bibimbap with brown rice. It's the finely shredded vegetables that makes it pleasant to eat. The mandoo is also good. We get the boiled ones, no greasiness, more healthiness. It's becoming a hang out for some. This place was really disappointing. We ordered the kimchi soondubu, octopus rice, and cold noodles. I could tell right away the restaurant was not going to be good after tasting their kimchi. It was terrible, bitter, and loaded with dashi powder. The soondubu was the same, so heavily seasoned with dashi that even my husband who does not cook or know what that is immediately noticed and said it was not good. The cold noodles were decent but they came with only vegetables and no meat. The octopus rice was okay flavor wise but I was disappointed that it only had about ten tiny pieces of octopus. After searching around on Yelp, I came across "Ireh Restaurant" and remembered I had gone to Ireh with my friend Sharon H. awhile back, as Ireh used to be at the McCully Shopping Center, as well as another location that was located on Keeaumoku Street. I must say this new location is pretty nice looking, as the restaurant is located in a brand spankin' new building that also houses a fancy restaurant called - Azure, and the building is right across the street from Autosource. There is free parking, as you enter the parking structure off of Keeaumoku Street (near the Azure entrance area), no validation needed, as the parking lot appears to be unmanned. We went to the restaurant in the early evening (about 6:00 PM) on a Friday, yet when we got there, the restaurant was packed with people. Luckily for us, we were able to secure the last open table, because afterwards, folks who came later had to wait outside for a table. Of course there is a lot of outside seating, and if you don't mind eating outside, I supposed you could do a "grab & go" and just eat outside at one of the open outside tables? Getting down wid' da grub - Although Ireh offers a lot of different items on their menu, I was basically here for the world famous Ireh Chicken plate! After eating the Ireh chicken, must say that the Ireh chicken did not disappoint, as the chicken had a nice sweet & subtle spiciness. My friend Gary went with a Seafood Soft Tofu Soup, and I could tell he was enjoying it. When the soup came out, it was boiling hot and after seeing him eat it, I saw the sweat dripping from his forehead. For appetizers, we shared a half order of pan fried mandoo. The pan fried mandoo was stuffed with chicken & vegetables and I must say the mandoo was nicely done. I loved the mandoo filling, & the texture of the mandoo kinda reminded me of the mandoo I had at Kyung's Seafood many moons ago. Free banchan was given to us with our meal, as the banchan consisted of a small plate of kimchee, & pickled onions. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, but since they were pretty busy that evening, the service could have been more attentive, but I get it that they were busy.
