Tried this new Korean eatery in the Kapahulu Shopping Center for the second occasion this afternoon. It is definitely refined to meet local tastes but it is still good. I had their Bulgogi Plate which came with tossed greens and mac salad along with a side container of kim chi. Now, that is definitely a local style plate lunch. Jap chae was mixed with the bulgogi. Overall it was good...kim chi was traditional, in that it had fish sauce/anchovies...and I don't like seafood. Initial visit was better, as I requested their Bi Bim Bap Bowl. Not the traditional ingredients but it was still excellent. Bi Bim Bap - if you've never had it - is a balanced meal with protein, veggies, and carbs. Gochujang sauce helps to make the entree. Both were takeout walk-in orders and each took about 10 minutes without any customers ahead of me - at least in line. Service was good. A couple of tables are outside of the storefront. Parking stalls aplenty in the Kapahulu Shopping Center.

Takeout lunch from Kapahulu, Honolulu, Hawaii... After church on a Sunday, I was starving because I hadn't eaten breakfast. I couldn't think straight and picked anyplace where Irene and I hadn't visited yet. She agreed on Moojigae Korean Grill. It took the place of some other Korean restaurant that shares the free parking lot with Safeway, Panda Express, and Genki Sushi. There are a few tables and chairs - outside on the sidewalk - in front of Moojigae. Inside, the cozy, clean shop has a self-service refrigerator for beverages and a self-service area on the counter for utensils and condiments. I got the kalbi plate which comes with a green salad (I think the dressing that the cashier poured was ranch) and a macaroni salad that had some yellow mustard flavoring. I was so hungry that the kalbi and rice were delicious to me! Service was efficient and polite. I'm not sure if I'd return... because I'd rather sit down, inside an air-conditioned restaurant.

This new Korean take out spot popped up not too long ago, sandwiched between Genki and Chronic Tacos on Kapahulu. I was shopping at Safeway and stopped by to pick up dinner. I got the seafood pancake $19.50. It came with white rice, green salad and kabocha mash. I loved the seafood pancake. It was crispy and when dipped in their sweet vinegar sauce was perfection. My only complaint was that there were kabocha seeds in their mash. I did not care for it. I had to pick them all out. It tasted much better without it. This place must be popular for their bibimbap. You can create your own. Everyone that came in before me and after me ordered one. It was filled with different kinds of veggies. It looked interesting. Maybe I'll be back to try that or the kalbi.

Rainbow... Moojigae I believe means rainbow in Korean and here in Kapahulu is the end of the rainbow. Kapahulu Shopping Center to be exact with Safeway as the anchor right beside Chronic Tacos is where you can find them so there are lots of free parking available including a few take out pick up dedicated stalls as well so if you know what you want here is a great place to pick up with ease. This cozy shop is basically a take out place though do have a couple of tables outside is nice and appreciated has a more limited menu options and no the plates doesn't include your choice of sides sadly which does makes a difference for me personally. As a noodle lover I got the Ramyun which does come with an egg is like the instant noodle that we all love it quite spicy which I really like though they do have spice options as well when you pick up your order at the counter which I did so ordering dine in so I was given my order on a tray for easy carrying. Nice place along with a very polite and friendly staff though their limited menu items along with a preselect side items do make a difference in my choices as well but the prices do reflect the options along with the convenience of being part of this shopping center. Thank you!

It's a nice surprise to have newcomer Moojigae Korean Grill in our neighborhood. It's conveniently located next to Kapahulu Safeway where parking shouldn't be a problem. The menu includes some classics such as kalbi, bi bim bap, bulgogi, spicy pork, and mandu. I was excited to see seafood pancake, jajangmyun, and kimchi stew at a TAKEOUT place! I believe this is the only place near me to have this. So, we had to get the half & half pancake plate. It comes with a green salad, kimchi, and your choice of mac salad or kabocha mash. Get the mash! It had nuts and fruit in it, and it's pretty good... a nice, sweet compliment to the savory meal. The portion is pretty good, although it is a bit pricey at $20. We also had the fried mandu ($14.50), which had 10 pieces! This place has only been open a couple of months and it's a nice change from the usual Korean takeout. The customizable bibimbap is going to be my next order! You can choose purple rice for $1 more. Then, choose a protein (bulgogi, spicy pork, spicy chicken or tofu). Hmmm, or maybe I'll try the squid pork belly... or, tteok bokki!

Tried out the new Korean place on Kapahulu (by safeway) a couple of weeks ago. Moojigae Korean Grill. It's on the far left side when you're facing the Safeway entrance. They opened recently, so business is slow for them now. Looks like it is run by a husband and wife team. No seating to dine in but there are tables outside. I ordered the Seafood pancake. Thicker than other places but crispy outside and chewy inside with a good amount of seafood. I needed to get another container of sauce. Would definitely get again! AT got the Jjajangmyeon. Super satisfying to mix it up! This is a nice addition to the neighborhood! Looking forward to trying new dishes.

Finally had time to check out this new take out Korean restaurant . This use to be the old location of Yooncy Korean food . This new business took over they renovated and it's now called Moojigae Korean grill . Something different compared to most Korean restaurants. Their mandoo was ok it had long rice noodles inside . Their spicy pork was spicy also they added mochi to their spicy pork . Their Mac salad had apples inside along with green beans .They also don't sell any Meat Jun or fish Jun . Also what's different they do not give you a choice of Banchan it automatically comes w/ a Mac salad and Toss salad . Service was very fast and friendly. Actually this place is more like a 3.5 star versus a 4 star restaurant . Support local

Absolutely loved the food here and I'm definitely coming back for more! We ordered the Half Kimchi Half Seafood Pancake. The Mac salad was very interesting and not my preference because it has fruit inside. The plates are served with generous portions, perfect for sharing! Located near Safeway Kapahulu. Plenty of parking in the lot. No place to sit inside but lots of Outdoor seating and Safeway also has more tables if it's full.

This is a great little spot for authentic Korean take-out food, although, there are table outside that you can sit at and eat (which is what we did). It was a little before 2pm and we were planning to take my granddaughter to go to visit the zoo. On the way, we stopped by the Safeway in Kapahulu, and found this place. The food looked delicious, so my daughter and I ordered from here. You can order the various items ala carte or as a plate, with rice and salad. I had the seafood pancake, and she ordered the Bibimbap, both as plates. The portions are big, and although the pancakes were a bit more "doughy" than I prefer, the taste was great. They make everything fresh and to order (I think even the kimchee is made in house). It's all very authentic, and as good as I've had in Korea. My 13 month old granddaughter even loved the pancake and Bibimbap, so it got the seal of approval.

3.5 - not bad. Moojigae took over the spot of YoonCY next to safeway Kapahulu. lots of parking available, except for fridays when its busier, but you can always park on the top floor. their plate lunches range from 20-25$ each. You're not able to pick your sides but you get a side salad, mac salad and super sour kimchi. Out of the items that we did get the seafood pancake was the most enjoyable. You can also upgrade to purple rice for $1 more.

    $16.50! For this kimchee soup
    Reuben K.

BEWARE. The value here is non-existent. 1. Portion Size: See the attached photo. They charged $16.50 for this tiny amount of Kim Chee stew. 2. Service: They forgot to pack part of our order. 3. Accountability: When we called, they refused to refund the missing item (because I didn't want to drive back). They promised 'extra sides' instead, which ended up being two measly sauce containers of beet kimchee. (Which I didn't even want) If you want a full meal and a restaurant that owns up to their mistakes, go somewhere else.

Really yummy authentic Korean food. Not your typical Peppas or Yummys. Lite, healthy & not salty. We definitely will be back

I have been eyeing this place for a while now during my Safeway runs and finally decided it was time to try it. To start, the place is CLEAN. You can see right to the kitchen and it is sparkling clean. I feel like this has become quite uncommon. The service was great and the lady at the register was kind and patient as we picked out a couple items. I loved the bibimbop. It came with a couple banchan like mac salad, kimchi, some odd vinegar/beet/sweet potato concoction. The mac salad had raisins and diced apples, so if you are expecting typical mac salad, you may hate that: I loved it. It was a nice twist. My hubby did comment that the kalbi was a little too fatty for his liking, but the flavor was there as well as the portion sizes. I'm hoping to go back soon to try a couple more items!

The pork had a really strong boar taint smell/taste, which completely turned me off from ordering any of the pork. We had to ask for more meat and banchan refills multiple times. They would bring more of the dishes like kimchi and cucumber, but when we asked for more tuna mac, they wouldn't give us any. It also looked like there were only two people working while there were probably around 10 tables during the Tuesday lunch rush, so I do think they were understaffed. If you're offering AYCE, the refills and service should flow a lot more smoothly. It felt like they were paying more attention the tables that selected a higher tier of AYCE. Not a terrible experience, but definitely not as seamless or enjoyable as I was hoping for.
