Came here for the first time in years. The restaurant definitely changed and is more upbeat. We ordered the Kalbi, Corn Cheese, 1/2 order of Bossam, Kimbap, Kimchi Jeon, and Meat Jun. Everything came out fast and freshly cooked to perfection. Every dish was flavorful and delicious. I wish the Bossam came with more veggies because the meat to veggie ratio wasn't near equal. They don't have white rice here and only have purple rice which tastes fine. Overall, a bit pricey, but food quality and portions are excellent. Staff are fast and super friendly. I love coming here !! The food is so yummy and their drinks are great! They have a parking lot so it's super convenient! I am obsessed with their rose tteokbokki. Be sure to add cheese and ramen noodles . It's best to go in a group so you can order more food. It's hard to just choose a couple of things when everything is so yummy! For her birthday, my daughter wanted to eat tteokbokki- her favorite Korean dish. We would be in the university area so | did a quick yelp search and found Jagalchi. Located on Young Street, this Korean restaurant has a young, casual, and fun vibe. Definitely a good time. We were greeted by friendliest server and quickly seated. Ordering is done via ipad at the table. There are a lot of great menu choices, but we narrowed it down to tteokbokki, chicken wings, and bi bim bap. Our food came with a plate of banchan. Everything was very yummy and | look forward to returning. The only tricky thing is that parking fills up quickly in the lot and they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. read more

Portions are huge so I always have to wait for at least 2 people to join me to make the trip here worthwhile as the food is best when eaten at the restaurant. Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got around to it. They have a very small seating and an electronic waiting list, which made it easy to sign up. When you get inside, they see you at a table and everything is electronic when ordering. We wanted to try a bunch of things and the portion sizes were huge. We definitely walked away with leftovers. Loved that they gave banchan before the meal. The Rose tteokbokki was the best item on the menu it was so flavorful and not something I would typically order, but we loved it. The Bossam was fresh and the pork was tender it made for great leftovers too. The chive pancake was delicious, but wasn't a must try with how big everything else was. I loved it omg. The ahjumma who helped us was so sweet and I loved practicing my very limited Korean phrases to her lol. Once I stepped in it felt like I was transported back to a restaurant/bar/pub in Korea. The Bossam was the big star of the show. Meat was so tender and the vegetables were so fresh. I was craving Bossam and this was the place to get it. I ordered 1/2 size bc my husband wasn't going to indulge. It was pretty good, fresh veggies and pork was well cooked. Hubby got the spicy pork but I think the sauce on that was a-bit too much, I would have liked that dish not so drenched in sauce. Same with the trio style chicken. Jagalchi resembles a noraebang without the rooms or singing haha My coworker decided we need to have lunch, so we arrive to ample parking and a near empty restaurant. There's sharpie graffiti everywhere, soju bottles lined up the wall and a sticker wall filled with so many stickers, you have no idea where to look. I could tell we're in for a good meal. We ordered a spicy squid with kimbab, chive jeon, and an extra bowl of rice to share. The spicy squid was not spicy, but had a smokey depth. I drenched the kimbab in that sauce and it was easily the best thing I tried here. The chive jeon was extra crispy and packed with veggies. Best 한국 음식 I've had on island!! Seriously everything from here is amazing, I really recommend the kimchi jjigae because it's flavorful, and enough to feed four. I recommend for this place to share it family style because the portions are HUGE. All of this food for $25 is amazing. The ambiance is also a really cozy pocha style. They play k-pop and it is pretty loud so it can be hard to hear eachother sometimes. There is a digital tablet you can order from too and they come out very fast with your food. Jagalchi offers the best ambiance for a cute date night or hangout with friends! Plenty of free parking at the lot, lots of seating inside and clean restrooms. The food is delicious! I can't help but notice a slight change in the offerings, but everything is still yummy. Only thing is--the price for the food seems steep to what it is. The bossam comes with plenty meat and veggies, even the half size. The flavor/seasoning of the meat was inconsistent dependent on which piece, but the radish kimchi that accompanied it was lovely. The banchan was okay, a little under-seasoned for my liking. The Tteokbokki was more spicy per my request, but a bit of a let down. The sauce was good but the portion of fishcake was a big disappointing. Not nearly enough cabbage. The deep fried seaweed rolls and mandu on top were soggy, even cold. No crunch. The garlic shoyu wings were juicy and super garlicky. The texture of the breading was not crisp or light, but rather crunchy and thick. It reminded me of the breading often found in chicken tenders. The food took quite some time to come out. It was a busy night, and I don't mind waiting; however, the wait was not rewarded with fresh or hot food--which is the bigger issue. Customer service is always friendly. Very much a safe, welcoming space. The kiosks at each table make service more efficient. Overall, positive experience. read more

I definitely recommend the rappoki and the shoyu wings. the shoyu flavor on the wings was really good along with the texture and taste of the rapokki! i love that the rappoki didnt just come with the noodles and tteobokki but also with other stuff like the seaweed rolls and mandu. the only thing i would probably not recommend is maybe the kalbi. i felt like it could've been more flavorful in my opinion but it was still cooked well. the service was good considering we had a big table and ordering on the tablet was simple. although its a little pricey, we still ended up satisfied and the rappoki was filling as well. This is a newer Korean restaurant spot and it's definitely worth a try! The restaurant itself is very small, so limited seating. The parking lot is also small and you probably want to be using a smaller car to fit in stalls. I have visited this spot twice and both times were at opening times, so I got fortunate that both times wasn't busy. The food comes out pretty quickly. We ordered a variety of appetizers to start and then shared a stew and a platter of meat. The fried mandoo is a fave for me, along with the cheesy corn go appetizers! The banchans were great and we got refills for our banchans! For the main entree we ordered a platter of pork belly and pigs feet sliced up. The platter comes out cold, which I don't care for but the flavors and softness of the meat were good. If I could choose to have it come out hot I would have enjoyed it much more! I've been to Jagalchi twice so far. The first time was when they initially opened, and my experience back then was just okay--nothing special. I hadn't returned until a few weeks ago, and this time the experience was great! We called around 7:00 pm to see if they had a table for two. They told us they had one left, so we headed over and were seated right away. It was pretty crowded, and the restaurant felt smaller than I remembered, though still fairly spacious. If you plan on going on a weekend, I definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff was super friendly, and the food was delicious. We ordered the rosè tteokbokki, kimchi jjigae, and bossam. Definitely would not have gotten seated quickly without a res, so highly recommended with a bigger group. Big parking lot with lots of free parking. Tried the chives jeon, bossam, army stew, bacon bean sprouts (more like thick pork belly, which was a disappointment but still good in its own way!), crispy wings, kimbap, corn cheese, and L.A galbi. Everything was tasty! Also had more than few bottles of sugar-free Saero soju (yay for no hangovers) and Cass beer. Left so full and with leftovers, too. All that for $57/person including tip. Drive down Young St. there is a parking lot right in front of the restaurant or street parking. Better to make reservations or just waitlist. Not a great experience, unfortunately. The food was okay at best, but the service was where things really fell apart. Our server seemed to be "trying," but was working alone in the front, so we were hitting that push button like a game show contestant - minus the fun. What we ordered: 3 Combo Wings - Wings were fried nicely, fries were good, and the Soy Garlic flavor was the clear winner. Service time? 40 minutes. Way too long. Jokbal - Not our first choice. It came out ICE COLD. This would've been nice to know beforehand, we would've 100% passed! The Jokbal was far too gamey, even behind the spicy kimchi. We only ordered this because 33 minutes after ordering the Bossam, we were told it wouldn't be ready until dinner service. That's something a restaurant should know before taking the order... and definitely prior to 33 minutes when we were told. We went here specifically for this, so you can imagine the letdown. Seafood Pancake - Flavorful. The best thing we ate. Spicy Pork - Cooked well and we appreciated all the onions, but oh boy did that thing desperately need salt. More importantly tho, there was a hair stuck on the wooden serving board. Yuck! Quite a disappointment, but it looked really good. We were one of two tables for the majority of our time there. At the last quarter, two other tables came in. The guy working the front served as the bartender, waiter, and was prepping stuff at the counter. I think it's safe to say, this skeleton crew did not benefit the business. Bro needed help, for real. And lastly - to top off the poor experience, there was a homeless man hanging out near the entrance in the private lot, which made us uneasy about our car and my family walking in/out. The restaurant should do something about homeless setting up shop near the restaurant. It's bad for business on so many levels. We won't be back. read more

What a disappointment. We come here couple times a month. We havnt been in for few months due to new work schedule. Well within those few months prices have jumped at least 10$ on almost everything. Their portions got smaller. We usually get full bossam and full jokbal. Now their full size is the original half size. Their soft tofu soup tasted like spagetti-os. Not to mention there is 0 interactions. U order everything on a tablet. Even water napkins bill comes through the tablet. Why would i tip for this? The artsy interior completely blew me away -- from the neon lights and sticker-covered walls to the graffiti-style tabletops, the whole concept was so creative and fun. I came on a Friday around 6:30pm and, surprisingly, the wait wasn't bad at all. Despite the dinner rush and only 2-3 servers working, the service was absolutely impeccable. Friendly, fast, and attentive. Now, the food... wow. Generous portions and packed with flavor. The galbi was tender and perfectly seasoned. The tteokbokki had just the right amount of heat, and the mandu and seaweed crispy roll added such a fun texture. The cheesy corn? Chef's kiss. I could rave about it all night. I'm 100% coming back. This is very much one of the trendy Korean food/bar spots in Honolulu at the moment. You may or may not have to wait a while to get a table depending on the time and the day. But it's definitely worth the wait. Inside definitely has a Korean bar vibe with K-Pop blasting. If you're not into that, then the food will definitely make up for it. However, i think maybe they had forgotten this item and rushed to get it out. the reason why we came to this conclusion is that the pancake is extremely doughy, even some parts feeling almost raw. All I can says is WOW, my mom ask me to think of a spot to eat before the family returns to the states so I told her since we couldn't eat at Jagaichi due to her emergency we run it back, wife made reservation highly recommend if party is large. We got in and table was already set up everyone was comfortable and kid friendly cause I tell you they got ahold of the market and went ham on the walls and left there marks even the table lol. I forgot the waitress name she did real awesome job with us and was supper patient and gave us a full run down on the menu. For starters we got the Tabboki rose with cheese and ramen, second was the3 wings combo and fries for the kids. We go the Bossam and that was a hit my mom approved it right away to the point we almost did another order, we also got meat Jim and La Kalbi those to was real good my sister devoured her Sundubu and purple rice so quick asking her if was good she was done with it, everyone on the table didn't even complain at all on the food soju for the adults was also a winner while in Jagaichi. Overall, I'd say my my experience here was good and I'd eat here again! We arrived around dinner time and found a short line which is understandable; it's a small space inside. An automated system texts you when your table is ready, and we were seated after a fairly short wait. The food was all pretty tasty! Their meat jun is one of my favorites. My major disappointment with the food was that when we asked for more lettuce with the bossam, we were told it was an additional $5. We felt the ratios here were pretty off - we were already splitting each piece of lettuce given into 2 or 3 pieces to eat with the meat and still found that we had a lot of meat leftover when the lettuce ran out. We ordered the full size bossam too, so for almost $50, we were disappointed that additional lettuce would cost more. Service was friendly but a little chaotic - there is a call button at the table, but we only had a 50% success rate with using it, the rest of the time we had to wait and flag someone down. First things first, parking was easy and lots open on a Saturday night. The outside of the bar is lit up with alternating LED lights and it's super appealing to the eyes. There was sign in for the waitlist. They text you when your table is ready and the wait was very short. Upon walking in, there a booths and tables and enough spacing. Music was such a vibe, all K-pop of course. The walls are covered in stickers. Empty bottles of soju lined up against the walls. There are LED lights scattered also and saw a cat one which was cute. The tables are cool, you can graffiti on them and sharpies are provided. You see faded layers of people's graffiti. Firs dish, Cheese Corn. Sizzling and hot delivered to your table. Creamy and buttery. Great stringy cheese pull. Sea Food Jun, savory and subtle with the ocean flavors but yummy. Pork sundubu was piping hot. Yummy and spicy. Comes with bowl of that purple rice. Meat Jun was light crispy and soft on the inside. my favorite although they did forget about our dish as we had to ask for it and it came out fast after asking. Service was alright. I can tell the staff was busy which is fine. Thankfully they leave a container thing of ice cold water. If you need service there is a ring bell on your table. When asking for check and to go boxes, the staff quickly gets that without thought but it gets done. I give this place 4 stars for amazing food. Pricing seems to be standard as a dinner for two with take home and tipping included came out to $120. If service was more attentive and personable this place easily 5 stars with return visits.
