Had a great lunch at Hangang today. Very authentic Korean. Ordered cold noodle soup (nangmyun) and soft tofu/kalbi combo. The combo came with a delicious wild rice with beans and kabocha squash in a hot pot. Cold noodles were chewy and the broth was cold and flavorful. Kalbi and soft tofu soup were very good as well. Banchan (free side dishes) were plentiful, so pretty to look at, and delicious to eat! Every bite was perfect! Service was excellent as well. It's no wonder Hangang is a popular Korean joint in Honolulu. We walked here from Ala Moana so can't comment on the parking situation.
Came here on a busy Sunday evening. Waited over two hours to get a seat, and got seated all the way in the corner with a divider so we were practically hidden. This got me worried that no one will see us when we raise our hands but thankfully our server was helpful towards us. My brother and I ordered the prix fixe (prime beef 9 course meal), and some parts of it got me confused as the cost is per person but there were certain selections (such as choosing between corn cheese and steamed egg) that you only get to choose one for the TABLE instead of per PERSON. It was unfortunately not indicated on the menu. The meat quality was good, and some of the banchans were great (kimchi and potato salad). I also liked their corn cheese as it helped balance the flavor of the meats. However, for the price of $77 per person, I am not certain if the experience was worth the price tag. Maybe next time I'll try their Lunch Specials as it may have better value for money.
Love the food, ordered the Wagyu set which I enjoyed. The service is great! Very friendly and on point. Love the ambiance cool, perfect lighting, and great for date night or family dinner.
Hangang is a great spot for Korean BBQ in town. It shares a lot with other restaurants in its plaza and is just across the street from the Ala Moana mall. They take reservations, though I have not had an issue getting seated immediately when I walked in. They have different meal sets or a la carte items, with the meal sets coming with a bunch of delicious banchan, my favorite being the sweet marinated potato. Random mention that their jowl almost tastes like chicken... Service is quick and they can help you cook your meats. The restaurant does fill up with smoke quickly, so expect it to be a hair wash day.
I came here on a Saturday night and they were pretty busy. Luckily for us, we made a reservation so we were seated fairly quickly. We went with the Prix Fixe Menu of the 9 courses, for $70 per person. First we were given the banchans. They have A LOT and I love banchans so it was a great start to the meal. I wonder if you could get refills on the banchans like many other KBBQ spots... I didn't get the chance to find out as I was STUFFED by the end of my meal. The steamed egg also came fairly fast, they offered to serve it for us which we took up on that offer. Then we also received the kimchi pancake. Here is what I'd note, I am a bit confused on the portion sizes. As the prix fixe menu is per person, shouldn't the dishes and servings per person? Like why would the kimchi pancake be one and shared between two? As well as the egg? We then got all of the various cuts of the meats. Everything was good and quite enjoyable. We also had a choice between soup (soybean or tofu) and cold noodles (reg or spicy). We both chose the spicy cold noodles. It was very good and a refreshing side to pair with the KBBQ. We were honestly stuffed by the end of our meal and enjoyed it all. Despite my slight concern/confusion regarding the serving/pricing, I would possibly come back. Although I usually go for an AYCE kbbq spot as it is definitely more worth it value wise.
Cravings satisfied! The ambiance is nice, the service was good and got the job done. But the food was really the best part! The kimchee pancake is one of the best I ever had. I also love their lunch special, it's so worth it. A purple rice, protein entree and soup! Can't wait to go back
We went shortly after opening and the place filled up quickly. Parking on the back is valet only but you can also find street parking We chose the 9 course menu and it is soo much food. In addition to the banchan you also get salad, steamed eggs, your choice of soup/noodles and ice cream! In addition to the assorted meats. AMAZING lunch specials! I got the cold noodle and the kalbi lunch special for about $30. Also shared a couple of other lunch specials with friends. The saba was DELICIOUS! Honestly, everything was super good. I love the purple rice with the kabocha pumpkin. Highly highly recommend for the lunch specials!!!!
Hanging is an slightly upscale KBBQ place, located across from Foodland Farms Ala Moana and right next to Totoya. My friend took me there today saying this is his favorite restaurant for Naengmyeon, 냉면 or korean cold noodle. If you go during lunchtime (11a-3p), you can take advantage of their lunch specials. I had the cold noodle combo, non-spicy cold noodles with beef bulgogi. I loved both dishes, and I couldn't finish the bulgogi, so took that and leftover banchan enough to fill me up for another meal later this week. 10/10 would return again, and definitely love the lunch deals.
Want some authentic Korean BBQ? This is the place to be, a hole in the wall but with all that you need to enjoy a fantastic authentic Korean BBQ feast. Walking in, it was dark, cozy, smelling delicious and it was Full House. We were seated quickly with servers that were friendly & fast. We picked the menu option on page 1, $77 per person lunch set menu that includes 4 types of meat, steam eggs, kimchi pancake, different dipping sauces; including bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices and abundant Banchan little appetizer dishes. The meats were fresh and tasty. The spicy cold noodles were refreshing, and all the Banchan little dishes offered lots of varieties and refillable. You know this place is authentic when you have bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices. They are not trying to tailor to westerners. The grill was hot, the meat was sizzling and the food kept coming. We ate as much as we can, and there were so much food, at the end. We were about to explode. This place is so good and we can't wait to come back.

Lunch has special combos which was a pretty good deal. We did family style: - Complimentary pickled dishes: so many variety and multiple refills. I like the potatoes and kimchi. - Seafood pancake: Crispy and thin. - Ordered a cold noodle dish (don't remember the name) was really good! - Kalbi dish was really good. Meat was tender and flavorful. Somewhat on the expensive side for Korean food. It was a nice restaurant to eat and chat with friends.
10/10 experience both times I came. Food is sooooooo good and flavorful here. I love that it's not smoky inside this restaurant despite the grilling and it's very clean. It feels high end. Prices are definitely a little more than some other Korean restaurants but I think it's worth it for the quality of the meat and food as well as the service and inside area. All servers have been so kind and attentive, which I appreciate appreciated. What sets Hangang apart from other Korean restaurants is the quality of their meats. Their Kimchee soup is amazing too, I highly recommend getting that! Japchae was yummy but not a standout. You're going to spend about $50 a head here. I'll be back!
We're impressed with fresh ingredients, top quality preparation plus care that goes into every banchan, dish, and stew, producing amazing flavors. Highly pleased with outstanding customer service. I ordered One Special Deluxe Rice Meal that featured Hot Stone Pot Rice, TteokGalbi, and Soy Bean Paste Stew. My husband and son shared Deluxe Premium BBQ Meal which offered Hot Stone Pot Rice, A. Combo, and Soy Bean Paste Stew. Complimentary hot tea automatically served at the table. Unfortunately, tea retained heat for a short amount of time in covered pitcher. An array of twelve banchan where pickled veggies were perfect! When my husband kindly requested for a second serving of kim chee and fishcake, male employee provided it without hesitation. Hot Stone Pot Rice remained steaming hot even with the lid off for over an hour. TteokGalbi served sizzling hot retained heat on the platter for a long time. Soy Bean Paste Stew continued to be piping hot throughout our dining experience. Cold water served upon request. Restrooms are located in the restaurant. If you're seated at a booth, see signage and scan QR code for parking deets. Press the button if you need service and don't see a Server nearby. Enjoyed leisurely consuming our meal within enclosed space and each other's company on Valentine's Day! Highly recommend lunch specials. Dinner for sure next time.

The staff are friendly and patient when going thru the menu! The setting is pretty intimate for small and large groups. The food is amazing! Came here last night for dinner and we left sooo happy. Definitely ate way too much but just couldn't stop ourselves. We were waited on by Justin and Tae and they were so friendly, attentive and helpful! We all ordered the $77/person prime beef 9 course meal and were barely able to finish all of it. Banchan was delicious and maybe we could've finished the meat and soups if we didn't indulge in the sides. Parking is in the back lot (it may fill up during busy hours) but you'll get the first hour of parking free when you scan the QR code inside the restaurant. The next hour after is $3. This is one of my favorite places to eat Korean BBQ on Oahu. Its location in Niu Valley Center gives you plenty of free parking options which is always nice. The restaurant itself is also pretty big but I'd recommend making reservations since it was quite busy when we went. The prix fixe menu is what we went with and it came in at $70 a person but was well worth the price! My favorites were the prime ribeye cap (highly recommend), as well as prime beef brisket and Korean steamed eggs. 10/10 would recommend! read more
I think this would be one of my top three Korean restaurants in Hawaii and that says a lot from someone who has lived in Korea for 3 years. I feel there is a lot of authenticity when I was eating here. The servers can speak Korean and English which is helpful. They were also very attentive and they did an amazing job and making everyone satisfied with the food. The Kalbitang (갈비탕) was amazing. It felt like I was back in Korea where I found my first small hole the wall restaurant that gave off the feeling of a home cooked Korean meal. Overall an amazing experience and will definitely come again soon Off notes: A bit crowded but overall a nice venue for Korean food. The floors are a bit slippery (not sure if it's the product they're using or the tile itself) so be careful. read more
Hangang Korean Grill House and it's definitely one of the more polished Korean BBQ spots in Honolulu. The restaurant has a modern, clean interior that feels a little more upscale than your typical KBBQ place, which made the experience feel like a nice night out rather than just a quick meal. The quality of the meat was the highlight. Everything tasted fresh and well-marbled, especially the beef cuts on the grill. You can really tell they focus on premium ingredients, and the flavor comes through without needing heavy marinades the signature veggies with the stamp on the mushroom cute. Service was attentive and friendly, and the overall setup made grilling at the table easy and enjoyable. It's a great place to come with friends so everyone can share different cuts and dishes. Overall, Hangang is a solid Korean BBQ spot if you're looking for good quality meat, generous portions, and a slightly more elevated dining experience. Definitely a place I'd come back to when the Korean BBQ cravings hit. read more

Great service! I've been here four times and unfortunately service/food is a bit inconsistent. The first time I came, everything was impeccable. Service and food. The beef was sooooo soft and perfectly cooked. Every bite of meat had me saying "wow". The second and third time, we got a specific server that would put beef on the grill, walk away, and forget it. So everything was overcooked/burnt. The fourth time, last night, we got the woman server that served me the first time, so I was like, yes!!! She's great. In the set b, the steak and skirt steak was so soft and just amazing. The brisket and the beef tongue was a bit overcooked and chewy, but not terrible. The soft tofu soup is a lot more tofu than soup. But it tastes good. It was very busy on a Saturday night, I joined the yelp waitlist at 7pm and we were seated around 9-9:10pm. We almost left because we were so hungry and the wait was a bit longer than we were told.. but we were so happy that we ended up staying. This place knocks any other kbbq spot out of the park! The service is top tier. Staff are so kind, helpful, and friendly. Also super fast service you don't ever feel like "where'd our server go?". I ordered here from DoorDash before and thought it was one of the best take outs I had ever had. Now having it in person, I would even go so far as too say it will be one of my new favorite restaurants on island. I would 10/10 recommend to anyone and will probably never go to any other kbbq spot again after this. The food was sooooo amazing. Every single dish was perfect even the Banchan. Great lunch set choices! We don't need to eat dinner. The assortment of banchan is great! The kimchee is fresh fresh and on a little sweet but so is the bulgogi and n spicy braised beef. The cold noodles are silky and firm. The spice level in the stews is just right. Love the stone pot rice w pumpkin pieces. The corvina and mackerel were grilled just right. Great service. Hangang has two locations. The original is near Ala Moana and they recently opened up their second restaurant in Niu Valley. In my opinion, they have the second best Banchan, after Korea Garden. However, I think they're marinated Korean short ribs or kalbi is the best. I've been to Hangang five times in the last six months and I've always had good service. I've enjoyed all the dishes that I've tried. Their food is tasty and I highly recommend that you give them a try. Hangang is hands-down our favorite Korean BBQ spot on the island--authentic, elevated, and consistently delicious. We always go for their set prix fixe menu, which is honestly one of the best values in Honolulu. It comes with a full spread of banchan, fresh salad, soup, steamed egg, cold noodles, and a huge selection of meats that always feels generous. They offer both a regular beef set and a Wagyu upgrade, but honestly the regular option is outstanding--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The short rib and brisket are our favorites; they cook beautifully on the grill and stay incredibly moist. Their dipping sauces elevate everything, especially the pink Hawaiian salt--such a simple touch but it makes each bite pop. You can really taste the quality of the meat here. For $77 per person, the prix fixe is absolutely worth it. You leave full, happy, and never feeling like you overpaid. Plus, they finish the meal with dessert, which is such a nice treat after all the grilling. My personal favorites are the soft tofu soup and kimchi soup--both are rich, comforting, and perfectly seasoned. They have great lunch specials and I went on a lunch date with the hubby. There were two couples before us and we waited 25 minutes after getting our names on the list. We perused the lunch special menu offered daily from 11am-3pm. We both got the lunch special set $27.95 per person. It comes with stone pot rice, one main dish and one stew. I picked the Korean short ribs bbq with soybean paste stew. My husband chose the chicken bbq with kimchi stew. It also came with nine complimentary banchan dishes. Everything was delicious. I loved the short ribs, but they didn't give too many pieces. The soybean paste stew was fully flavored. The kimchi stew wasn't that spicy, which I liked. My two favorite banchan dishes were the soy potatoes and black beans. It was great that they served black rice with black beans and kabocha in the stone pot. It came with 4 kinds of beef cuts, including premium sirloin, premium skirt steak, premium brisket and ox tongue. I really enjoyed the brisket. It was tender, juicy, so much flavor and melted in my mouth. The other steak cuts were incredibly delicious as well. Ox tongue, however, wasn't my thing. It was very chewy and was lacking flavor. The meats came witb a nice variety of banchan, but those didn't really stand out from many other banchan that I've tried in other Korean restaurants. Our combination also came with one kimchi stew and it was actually pretty tasty. I was still hungry and considered ordering a kimchi pancake, which I love so much, but the $28 price tag stopped me. The service was solid, as the waiters did their best to be there for us to help us cook the meats. The place itself is clean, with a contemporary design, with 20 some tables with grills for dining in. Good food, good place, but maybe slightly too authentic for me. Got their rice lunch special ($30) and chose the kalbi and tofu soup which comes with purple rice in a hot pot. Big portion for the price and love the variety you get with the protein and soup and sides. Kalbi was tasty and tender, my soup wasn't boiling when it came out so the egg needed to be stirred to get cooked. Service was a bit slow since they were pretty busy but they were friendly. I didn't have a reservation and was seated right away. They also have a small parking lot in the back that they share with a few other businesses. They have a few other lunch specials worth checking out and I will be back to try! read more

The food was awesome! High quality, ample quantity, and super tasty. The variety of banchan was impressive and the meat was so 'ono. The service was top notch. Although the servers were very efficient and courteous, we were not fans of their constant offer to cook our food on the grill while we ate. We know that they were trying to be helpful, but one of the things I love about Korean bbq, is how we can interact with cooking the food on the grill. It's an experience that's unique to Korean bbq. Of course by our request, they happily obliged to our desires. The service was impeccable. They should consider implementing a way to signal when a table wishes to cook their own. That way the many servers don't keep offering. The place is new and gorgeous. The decor is modern, clean, and elegant. It definitely gives a high end vibe, but that's a bonus since there aren't many restaurant offerings in HK. The only thing that I noticed that could improve the ambiance was the fact that the floor was slick with grease, or it felt slippery due to the grease or whatever floor cleaner they use. read more
My partner and I was craving for some bbq after watching the Jim - Carpenter comedy show and found this spot closing at 11pm so decided to try it out. We got the 9 course menu which was ultimately a large spread all at once, there ain't no coursing like the fancy restaurants. The meats are high grade and fhe cuts were a little too thick, thats just my own personal preference. There were a ton of sides, and I would eat half of those. Their tofu soup and cold noodles were legit good. Not a fan of that kim chi pancake those. The pancake was salty and hard. Their steam egg taste kinda weird, theres like burnt pieces in them eggs.. anyhow genrally a good spread and but pricey. The service is very good, smiles and cooking our food until I decided to take it over myself hehe. The renovation was legit nice but the floor is slippery from the bbq oil, so be careful. read more
